Kixzik quickly assembles and throws another bomb, this time at "4" - excludes Chorley and his square.
Catch!
What a hothead!

Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24.
Again, Seif-al-Din dodges the worst of the flames, barely noticing them (1 point of damage after resistance).
He then smites the demon, and charges it!
+1 Adamantine Nodachi: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 40, for 1d10 + 17 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 17 + 1 + 6 = 33 damage (bypassing DR).

Yes you still need to cast defensively with a quickened spell. The DC is as a quickened spell as well. I'm surprised we're against somebody using that metamagic, is he holding a rod in his hand?
DM, who is being targeted by this "gout of flame"? Also, is there a spellcraft check we can make to identify it? I'm getting a little confused by your posts.
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Seif-al-Din ibn-Subhi |
Ummm... As per the feat description, for Quicken Spell, it *doesn't* provoke...
Also, based on the 5d4 damage, it is pretty clear that that was a Quickened Burning Hands, which means it hit just the two of us (being a 15' cone). Based on previous damage, he is either a 9th (with a feat) or 10th level spell caster, so Quickened 1st level spells is entirely reasonable.
Zephyr Jeggare |
Cast a Quickened Spell
You can cast a quickened spell (see the Quicken Spell metamagic feat), or any spell whose casting time is designated as a free or swift action, as a swift action. Only one such spell can be cast in any round, and such spells don't count toward your normal limit of one spell per round. Casting a spell as a swift action doesn't incur an attack of opportunity.
Arthur Osorkon |
That makes no sense why a quickened spell doesn't provoke. If anything it would be harder to concentrate. Whatever though, I doubt he would have failed the check either way.
Arthur barks a quick spell at the caster, then follows his step and brings his bastard sword down with vengeance!
Attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Damage: 2d8 + 19 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 19 + (4) = 27 x2 = 54
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Damage: 2d8 + 19 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 7) + 19 + (6) = 35 x2 = 70
Casting litany of righteousness. Since he's evil and Arthus is a paladin, his two attacks do double damage for this round.
Churley |

Arthur I assume you will not want to cast that spell, that is fine.
to try to alleviate your confusion, He used his round to withdraw, and a swift action (which can be done anytime a free action could be done) he cast a quickened burning hands which got both of you.
Arthur cuts down the demon, and it vanishes in a puff of brimstone.

Suddenly a 3 headed devilsih or demonic dog appears and it tries to bite Churley
3d20 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) = 6 but all three miss COME ON
The short sword wielder steps into the flank and attacks trying to do his foe
3d20 ⇒ (17, 10, 10) = 37 one hit for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The archer steps away again, and finally he has stopped coughing, ready to attack next round.
Suddenly from behind a box the falchion wielder appears as suddenly Kix's vision begins to blur DC 18 fort or become blind permanently.
The flier quicky casts a magic missile at Churley 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 4) + 4 = 17 then launches a fireball away from his allies catching Kix, Arthur and Seif

Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

The extra die rolled at the end of each damage roll is fire damage, in case this thing has fire resistance or immunity.
Seif-al-Din ibn-Subhi |
Seif-al-Din grins as the first demon disappears.
"Looks like someone called an exterminator - this place has been de-demoned!"
Casting a Quickened spell (Swift) and Withdrawing (full round action) is the same, action-wise, as smiting (Swift), and charging (full round action).
Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16.
Seif-al-Din grimaces as the fireball char-broils him, and another demon apears.
"Hmmm, looks like the infestation is worse than we thought!"
He responds by stepping up to the man with two short-swords, and hacking at him!
+1 Admantine Nodachi: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 14 + 1 = 35, for 1d10 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18 damage.
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 1 = 29, for 1d10 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25 *ADDITIONAL* damage.

He then touches himself, causing some of his wounds to heal.
Lay On Hands: 1d6 ⇒ 3.

Churley keeps up his pursuit of the archer with another step, but looks very much worse for wear.
"Churley want to see world, but world not seem to want to see Churley!"

that doesn't seem to be good
Kixzik |
Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31 Plus evasion!
Kixzik manages to franctically maneuver through the flames in a bravura performance.
He moves into range (15' east, can't update at work) and mixes a third bomb and tosses it at the three headed demon. He removes himself, Chorley, Arthur and Seif from the bomb range.
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21 to identify the demon.
Presuming no fire resistance I know of:
Attack (Bomb): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Damage (Bomb): 4d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 3) + 7 = 21
Damage (Sneak Attack): 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8 Extra against flanked 3 headed demon
If fire resistance: throws a stink bomb (Fort DC 18) at the human with short swords.
Kixzik |
Fortitude: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 Oh come on. Nuts to you dice roller. +2 if the effect is poison.
Kixzik |
Kixzik curses at his blindness.
While the many myths of goblin creation are no doubt based in the long-standing dominance of Lamashtu's clergy amongst my race instead of fact, I wish we'd fallen sway to, say, Gorum so we could be a heartier species.
While this effect is quite fascinating, is there a cleric in the cave? Any good-hearted cleric will do!
Kixzik |
Since I'm blind, can I roll Perception at a certain threshold to attack with bombs per normal? I don't lose a bonus to bombs because I use Intelligence, although I'd be at +14 for Perception per the blind condition.
Arthur Osorkon |
Arthur heals a bit of his wounds.
LoH: 1d6 ⇒ 5
He calls up at the spellcaster as he draws his bow. "Come on, you have no chance! Get down here before we kill you!" He lets loose an arrow.
Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Seriously? The RNG just hates this party.

Faced with a flying spellcaster and a disabled archer Zephyr takes matters into her own hands.
