A really fun adventure (For the DM, at least).

Welcome to the game. This should be a lot of fun. This adventure isn't really meant to be taken very seriously, so I'll be running a bit fast and loose.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Let's punch some shoggoths!

- INACTIVE (finished campaign) -

I'm pumped!

HP: 24/24 | AC: 18 | Init: +0 | Saves: Str: +1, Dex: 0, Con: +2, Int: -1, Wis: +5, Cha: +3 | Hit Dice Remaining: 2d8 | Passive Perception: 13 | Spell Save DC: 13 | Spell Slots Remaining: 1st: 0/4, 2nd: 0/2

Let's go Mad!

Right, the arrow on the map.

That's to give you an idea of where you are in the Mines. I'll be posting in a second to let you guys know what the little box is.

There are some illustrations by Scott Kurtz included in the adventure, so I'll be posting links to those as we go. They help to set a tone, I think.

About swearing. I won't speak for everyone, but I know that I don't care.

Same here.

Dwarf 6 | D&P: 4, T: 8/8 | F: 8, W: 4 | Init: +4 | Senses: perception +5 <darkvision>

I didn't realize there was an auto-censor. I'm good with that.

Male Human Rogue (Thief) 3 | HP: 0/21 | AC: 14 | Ini: +3 | Passive Perception: 14 (Darkvision 60ft.) | Saves: -1 STR, +5 DEX, +1 CON, +4 INT, +2 WIS, +0 CHA | Shortsword or Shortbow +5 (1d6+3)

Sorry, I should have asked using the discussion forum in the first place.
Yes D-Kal, if you type something offending, upon posting it transforms into gibberish.

On another matter: Be honest, you have read the Minds of Madness and knew what was coming. No adventuring group ever says:

Random group of adventurers never wrote:
"Oh, a strange glowing light, let’s totally not investigate that and move on!"

Deep down in your hearts, you know I’m right. If it was just a normal adventure, you would have looked, too. :-D

HP: 0/27 | AC: 18 | Init: +2 | Saves: Str: +4, Dex: +2, Con: +3, Int: +0, Wis: +4, Cha: +1 | Hit Dice Remaining: 2d10+1d8 | Passive Perception: 14 | Spell Save DC: 12 | Spell Slots: 1st: 2/2 | Action surge 1/rest

Not bothered by swearing.

I haven't read the module. The outhouse was clearly a trap. I was happy to trigger it. When I wasn't attacked by a skeleton I was relieved to be able to move on unharmed.

Male Human Rogue (Thief) 3 | HP: 0/21 | AC: 14 | Ini: +3 | Passive Perception: 14 (Darkvision 60ft.) | Saves: -1 STR, +5 DEX, +1 CON, +4 INT, +2 WIS, +0 CHA | Shortsword or Shortbow +5 (1d6+3)

Don't take my post too seriously. It is a joke, nothing more.

I only now found the link to the picture of the mine entrance. Totally missed my perception check there. So, yeah, it was a clear trap and I should have seen it coming. (heck, I sneaked around a toilet house!)

Just want to be clear that I am not really upset at anyone for not helping with the rubble... After all it's only imaginary... I just think an ex con cleric wouldn't be fond of doing what he saw was more than his fair share of manual labour. :)

Dwarf 6 | D&P: 4, T: 8/8 | F: 8, W: 4 | Init: +4 | Senses: perception +5 <darkvision>

The right-hand rule is a method of traversing mazes whereby at each intersection you follow the rightmost path in order to avoid getting lost.
NOTE: may not work in mazes with collapsing floors/ceilings, teleports, etc.

Male Human Rogue (Thief) 3 | HP: 0/21 | AC: 14 | Ini: +3 | Passive Perception: 14 (Darkvision 60ft.) | Saves: -1 STR, +5 DEX, +1 CON, +4 INT, +2 WIS, +0 CHA | Shortsword or Shortbow +5 (1d6+3)

I changed my Background a bit to better fit how I play my charakter:
Personality Traits: I am incredibly curious and sometimes find my head stuck in a meat grinder for it!

HP: 0/27 | AC: 18 | Init: +2 | Saves: Str: +4, Dex: +2, Con: +3, Int: +0, Wis: +4, Cha: +1 | Hit Dice Remaining: 2d10+1d8 | Passive Perception: 14 | Spell Save DC: 12 | Spell Slots: 1st: 2/2 | Action surge 1/rest

I'd always heard of it as the left hand rule.

Does this mean the party will split at every intersection?

- INACTIVE (finished campaign) -

Haha, only the first one--they'll already be split for all the ones after that. :)

Dwarf 6 | D&P: 4, T: 8/8 | F: 8, W: 4 | Init: +4 | Senses: perception +5 <darkvision>

I can't post in gameplay. This happened in one of my other games and lasted about 2 days.
Someone want to make my +2 knowledge check and a +4 firebolt attack for 1d10 for me?

I'm volunteering at a convention this weekend, so I don't know if I'll be able to post. If nothing else, things should be normal by Monday.

Thanks for being patient with me guys. That was a long and arduous con. And I'm still a little exhausted. But let's do this.

HP: 24/24 | AC: 18 | Init: +0 | Saves: Str: +1, Dex: 0, Con: +2, Int: -1, Wis: +5, Cha: +3 | Hit Dice Remaining: 2d8 | Passive Perception: 13 | Spell Save DC: 13 | Spell Slots Remaining: 1st: 0/4, 2nd: 0/2

Reading up on concentration spells... I'd best try not to be hit.

Dwarf 6 | D&P: 4, T: 8/8 | F: 8, W: 4 | Init: +4 | Senses: perception +5 <darkvision>

And the wizard guards the clerics.
Well, this isn't pathfinder.

WoTC have released an online supplement for Hoard of the Dragon Queen. It's got magic items, Monster stats and more spells! I think they are going to update the basic document later this week too.

Linky

And the player's handbook is out in some stores. Other retailers have to wait a bit longer till release.

Will anyone of you pick up the PHB? Mine is preordered, but in Germany we'll have to wait till the end of the month for it to arrive.

I pre-ordered mine online, but I live in Puerto Rico, so who knows when I'll actually get it. I'm hoping by the end of the month.

Really don't want to move into that melee, but I imagine my shortbow won't be much use. Any thoughts?

Anybody? Bueller?

In case you missed it, I said "funnel", which we are now doing by all filing into the hall so that they must attack us one at a time. You could stand in front of the part-cleric (who is in front of me) and melee one at a time, or you could stand behind us and shortbow until Dervel retreats (or dies), then take his place.

Many apologies - I haven't even read the Gameplay yet... I moved house yesterday and it has sucked out all the time I have at the moment. I am optimistic that I can get back on board tomorrow.

I haven't unpacked my iPad yet from the move, just can't find it. It has the 5e rules on it.

Is there a Fighting Defensively option?

I just had this delivered to my email

A guide to 5e, where to start.

You can dodge, which means that attacks against have disadvantage. But, that's, an action.

There doesn't seem to be a Fighting Defensively equivalent.

How many spell slots do you have left Grith?

Dwarf 6 | D&P: 4, T: 8/8 | F: 8, W: 4 | Init: +4 | Senses: perception +5 <darkvision>

Two 2nd-level and one 1st-level. I can cast burning hands as a 2nd-level spell for an extra 1d6, if need be.

EDIT: Make that two 2nd-level and zero 1st-level. What a waste.

Hey, guys. I should probably mention that there's no way for Grith and Vasayo to teleport back. It's a one-way ticket.
