Plucked before conclusion of your daily ritual, you are sucked up into a kind of space tunnel, a wormhole, at an incredible speed. Ice is forming upon your skin, but you are moving too fast to care. Breath escapes you forcing pressure upon your head as it feels as if your brain, your eyes, your eardrums are about to explode.
BLAM! You hit the sand hard leaving you barely conscious. Suddenly, you are being dragged towards a large spire of dark, thick rock jutting upwards into the sky from the desert floor. Your body stops abruptly, about 30 yards from the tower. Your hands are clutching a weapon. An instrument of destruction with a soft violet glow. Both hands are gripped around it tightly as you struggle to regain lucid consciousness and at least sit up from the sandy dirt. A weapon has chosen you through time and space. With your head throbbing, you cannot suppress the anxiety as the question runs through your mind; what happens next?
Wanted: 4 solid PCs for a homebrew campaign through time and space featuring psionics and their unique struggles and powers.
You have just been summoned by a magical weapon (+1) with a single elemental ability crafted from rare materials.
You must first describe that weapon and then choose a race and develop a background. (The ten-minute background preferred.)
I will post more info about the campaign in the campaign tab. This is not a strictly space-themed adventure as you chase your quarry through time as well.
25 point buy attributes, NO attribute lower than 9. NO exceptions.
Level 1 Gestalt- One class must be a psionic class
TWO traits
1,000 gp starting gold
No Summoners/eidolons
Must post bi-daily minimum.
Psionic race preferred, but not exclusive to it. The first four applicants deemed suitable will close recruitment.

Hia :) looks like I got here early (for a change >_>).
I have always had a desire to play a melee focused Psion (Egoist) with a focus on self buffing. I am pretty sure that I could make it work, even with the loss of action economy but I have never really had the chance to put it through field tests :)
Gestalt would help immensely with a full BAB class and weapon proficencies.
But at this point I am still thinking of ideas XD
Oh ya, how would a Soulknifes Mindblade interact with this? Ditto for something like a Mangus Blackblade.

These Psionic rules
Sorry, I should have been more clear. Yes, that's what I meant in asking about Dreamscarred usage. The Paizo ones are from Occult Adventures.

I am not usually a fan of Psionics but I think I will give it a shot. But what about Dreamscarred Press's other resource, Path of War. I was thinking about mixing the Soulknife (Soulbolt) with the zealot, their martial version of a psionic. Looks like its based off Tactician maybe? The Sleeping Goddess discipline is fueled by Power Points too.

I am willing to work with what is designed, however I am not as familiar with the third party stuff.

I am not either usually, but I am very excited about this campaign concept and I feel that is logical that psionics need to be involved.

My concept is a Vitalist/Druid who before being pulled away was just doing his morning meditation. Hoping that my animal companion was pulled with me? Also would the magical weapon be allowed to be an Amulet of Mighty Fists?
1. What bonus are you looking for on the amulet? (I'm ok with +1, but may not seem worth it to you)
2. Depends on which animal companion that you choose.
Diamondust |
1. It won't be much use straight away since I'll have to wait till I can wild shape but I think it's worth it in the end since I'll be building around wildshaping for combat. I'm curious about the elemental ability though. Do we choose or design that or is it fixed by you?
2. Ok well I guess I'll be able to find another one relatively soon anyway. Hadn't chosen an animal companion yet.

Hmm, I kinda want in on this, but not sure if i will have the time for character creation. I tend to take a loooooot of time on that.
Would you allow other 3rd party content alongside it? By way of example, I was thinking of a Spheres of Power character alongside something Psionic.
I don't have a SOLID concept yet, but I am thinking of a Cryptic (my favorite psionic class ever) combined with a Symbiat or Incanter.

1. You design it. I approve it. (Like a hammer that produces chain lighting or a flame spewing sword etc.)
2. Hard to see a bear following you through the hole. A snake that was resting on your shoulder or something in a messenger bag would work.

Elan psion investigator
High Int loads of skills
Going for skill monkey with mind reading.
Now the weapon I would like to be intelligent and linked to her psicrystal. A crystal dagger it locks into making a single item.Is that possible gm.
I'll do back ground asap
Yes. Great concept.

Yes. The spheres of power seems to fit nicely here. What item would you create.

This sounds like a really interesting idea. I was thinking of an iaijutsu specialist, something like a Mystic/Psychic Warrior, focused on Mithral Current and Riven Hourglass Maneuvers. All about the need for speed, so some kind of lightning weapon?
So, Mithral Katana, allowing something similar to Ride the Lightning? Not sure HOW strong you want these abilities, but I'd love something that lets me do the speedy ninja sword clash thing and dash through people.

Excellent concept, but a bit overpowered. I would agree to this if we could reduce it's strength and scope by at least 50 percent.

Well, off the bat I just noticed it has a 1 round/level duration, I'd nix that entirely. Staggered condition is a bit much, as is 10d6 at 1st level. Revised version:
Ride the Lightning: X times per day (or are these supposed to be at-will abilities?) move up to twice your speed in a straight line as a swift action, dealing 1d6 damage per level to every creature or object in your path. Any object (such as a door) that blocks your path stops this movement unless it is destroyed by the damage dealt. You are immune to electricity damage until the end of your turn(?).
I'd love to keep the 120 foot range, but figured that was also a bit much. This basically amounts to a fancy, more limited Quick Runner's Shirt or Tactical Rush at this level, but gets better as I level.

Here is my submission. I can make an alias if selected.
I am selecting a large greatsword with fire as its elemental theme. Fiery burst maybe
Grumn has spent most of his life as a slave in the Underdark. He was put to all sorts of menial tasks. His masters (drow, Illithid, Deep Gnome- he was traded and sold without remorse) kept him will controlled when not used as a front line shock troop. Grumn found few pleasures in life during his time but he did take a cobblers skill set with some joy. It was not violent and he liked shoes. His Psychic abilities were largely ignore during by his masters until one eventful day when an enraged drow attempted to strike him. His deflected the blow with his mind. Because of this the Half giant was locked away for fear of his power. On the morning of the day when his fate would be decided (to be sold again or simply killed) a rift in time and space opened taking the half Giant to destinations unknown.
The weapon awaiting Grumn was a large one. The largest he had ever seen. It radiated with an inner heat, And seemed to melt the very air surrounding it.

Very good concept, I need time and place, specifically for the moment he was called to the weapon and a background story.** spoiler omitted **...

I'm looking at a forgeborn Aegis/Psion called Rook. His armor is going to get more and more like a tower around him as he progresses.
As for his weapon, I was thinking of a crystal blade that covered the target in crystal. I was thinking something like a tanglefoot bag. They are entangled on a hit and then get to save against being frozen in place. Though hopefully the DC and amount of damage to free themselves would be level based.

Nice! Where was he plucked from and when?
