Thanks for listing the pillars, made it much easier.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

What time is it when I leave Sivo? If I still have a lot of time I will test the crow a bit.

You have lots of time. It is barely mid morning

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Times like these make me wish I had not focused Rileng so much on interaction skills. Disable Device is a must have skill for breaking into places. xD

You need a ship's carpenter anyway. there is probably some overlap between them and lockbreakers?

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Traditionally ship carpenters overlap with ship doctors sense their sense of medicine was hacking off infected limbs and such. Hacking wood and bone went sort of hand in hand. But yeah if their lock breakers too I won't complain. :)

Luckily this is a fictional universe. Pathfinder universe hardly needs hacking limbs doctors, they have magical healing!

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Well yeah their is that, but how is that fun? xP

Not everyone can afford magical healing, but yeah sense witches and shamans both have that healing hex their is no limit to healing anymore, at least once per day per person. So I'll leave that stuff up to you, I just have to find them.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Is it meta that I googled it and got "a hole", is that the answer?

Hey, sticking your hand into small holes is a very dangerous proposition for someone in the Pathfinder universe! Give Ute a break.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Yeah well in that same universe you can grow back a hand back so really it balances out. :P

Note to self, find me a personal cleric for the entourage too. Alchemy has it's limits.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Rileng will buy Ute some better clothes, Soldier's Uniform, so basically a new version of what he seems to already wear. Three potions of protection from evil, both bodyguards will get one with instructions to down it if a fight breaks out on the lord's ship. Lastly a tanglefoot bag.

That comes out to 201 gp.

Sounds good to me. Anything else or shall I post?

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Post away!

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

You may have missed it when I posted before. Rileng is waiting on the meeting with Shelia. He sent her a letter, he has yet to get a reply. She said she has some pull with some Usher members, he was going to use that as part of his payment for his information.

What about Ute?

I wasn't sure how to wanted things arranged. He is still staying at his own place. Did you want him to meet you in the morning?

I will post the letter.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Rileng offered to have Ute stay at his inn. If he does not want to then he will have to meet him every morning.

Ball is in your court, assume Ute is there waiting for you.

Rileng never seems to meet any reasonable people.

In recovery from surgery. Sorry about a slight game delay. Shall return shortly.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Woah no problem dude, take it easy and get better.

Rileng, master diplomat! Charge!

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Hey if all you found are ritualistically murdered bodies everyday and got surrounded by a group in the middle of the night saying their going to kill you if you don't meet their demands. Talking it out seems a little suicidal, if their reasonable they'll back up and consider things after seeing they may have bite off more then they can chew. Establishing an escape route is a bare minimum. ;)

Anyways primitive types tend to have a might makes right mentality outside their own. Proving your strong is a needed foundation to interaction with them. Sadly Rileng is not built like a mountain or wields any obviously large destructive weapons. So his unassuming self has be more bloody in his displays of deadliness. Unless their real weaklings Rileng can't kill them in a single strike, with his speed and defense he can just rip them until they get wise, or he is forced to start killing in defense of his own life and his people.

Druid wasn't as tough as I'd liked. I need to actually challenge you one of these times...

Still, I hope it is entertaining.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Hey I am still sore about getting whipped by a trio of common thugs, so challenging is relative. Given time Rileng is strong, catch him off guard or rushed he is weak. Why do you think I invested so much on perception, both of us are smart enough to cover that huge weak spot. ;)

It's entertaining that nothing ever goes his way. The whole worlds against me dude I swear!

P.S. Druids can be tough when given time, sadly lizard man let his pride come before his caution. All those buffs at his disposal wasted.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

A little heads up, Rileng is angling to ally or take over the lizardfolk tribe. If he can get them all together and convince them to help him drive out the boggard and cultist that will even things out a bit. As to their food problem, not really a problem for Rileng when he can have food brought in by ship, sure the captain will not be mad about leaving and coming back with fresh supplies. Maybe weapons for the lizardfolk if they don't have enough. In the mean time they can use the abandoned village as a base and shore up it's defenses while scouting out the area for anything useful or just to get more information on the cultist.

Let me know what you think or any questions if I missed something.

Work has thrown me a curve ball. I will be out till the weekend (and maybe till Tuesday, the weekend is a holiday here).

I WILL be back, no fears. Sorry about the delay. I'd much rather be playing Pathfinder, trust me...

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

I'm going to take a guess and say they have no sense of personal property and think of everything as communal. If they are in fact thieves and know better let me know.

Also am I going to have get them back on track or their just taking it easy while they can? If so what rolls do I need or it's at my own discretion?

It is mostly cultural, but they might be pushing it.

Roll whatever you like!

Be back on Saturday.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

I'll be here, plotting. ;)

It is just work. I think I should be good now. Tomorrow will be busy but my workplace should be fully staffed and such by then. being a manager can suck sometimes...

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Rileng is going to wait a day so he can change his extracts. Move the camp and set up some basic defenses.

He plans to get rid of the enemies food supplies, poison them, and cause a little discord in their ranks. While looking for their missing noble all the while. Hopefully he won't have to cut his losses and return to Magnimar.

P.S. 108 cultist and one demonic looking monster the size of a giant. Really! I'm level 7 over here, not even double digits and a skill monkey. I don't even have a spellcaster. T^T ::whimper::

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Rileng is going to create the following extracts.

3rd- Fly, Tongues
2nd- Ablative Barrier, Invisibility (2), Barkskin
1st- Longarm, Expeditious Retreat, True Strike, Blurred Movement, Shield, Disguise Self

Rileng is making king's sleep and ragespittle poison. He will make and use blackfinger paste as well.

The plan is for Rileng to sneak into the cultist camp during the night. Right before he enters he is going to use ablative barrier, barkskin, tongues, and disguise self on himself. That way if he gets caught sneaking somehow or he finds a good time to show himself for a little discord making he will seem like a allied boggard. He is going to try to gather information and if he can, poison the water supply for the camp with king's sleep. The poison is slow acting and subtle enough that it should not be detected. He will spend no more then an hour in the cultist camp, due to the duration of his extracts before slipping out again.

Anything unclear or needed from me?

No, it is a good plan.

The camp is formidable, yes. But you have several helps, a clan of lizardfolk and you get to pick the time and place. I just wanted to make it strong enough that you couldn't just frontal charge it. You don't want it to be too easy, do you?

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Yeah being outnumbered 5 to 1 was plenty, having a monster with a CR nearly double my level. I'm going to say that's a bit mean.

I'll post when I get up, time for sleep. :)

Was it too much? As to be unfun? I figured a breakout against impossible odds would be fun? And, as you've said, it isn't life or death. Rileng CAN walk away. I wanted that to be a difficult choice. Pride versus success. Risk versus reward.

Too much?

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Why won't you let me sleep....jk, I blame myself.

I am no DM but pretty sure the CR system is designed with a party of 4 PCs in mind. Even if not I don't think anyone can beat something more then APL +3. So something with such a huge power gap normally means it's a non-combat thing. Only this set up makes it seem like non-combat is not an option. Crazy cultist and savage swamp folk.

So my reaction is to give it a cautious shot to test the waters. The only thing I really have any complaints about is Rileng not being able to have a single simple quest. Doesn't have to go smoothly all the time, but even life doesn't give you endless rabbit punches to the groin. ;P

We will see how Rileng's plans work out. It's times like these I wish I was a alchemist, a few bombs would even things up real fast. Lucky I don't have the supplies to make fused grenades. Give one each a lizardfolk with instructions to light them and run like hell. Take care of this rambo style. Now I am rambling, good night. Tomorrow fate will decide, maybe. x)

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Let me know when it's night time so I can post his actions for the night. Hopefully the noble is in there. :)

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Post deleted.

For some reason, this game is always hard for me to get right. I wonder why that is. Curious.

Having fun?

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Well DMing is always a mental marathon the more games you have running and I tend to look at the details, so that doesn't help. :)

As for having fun, I have my moments. But honestly I don't think anyone is going to have fun in a swamp for very long. ;P

Sorry, had a tree fall onto my power/internet/phone lines. Replies will be spotty till next week!

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

How many are in front of the hut and what are they?

6 humans, all armed.

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Well that's a problem, I'll post shortly. ;)

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

Do I have to make more rolls or did they get to the tunnel?

RP a scene of hustling them through the foliage and such. Who knows what might happen to complicate things!

Male Tiefling Investigator (Empiricist) 7

The whole worlds against me dude I swear!

Hey, this has went pretty smoothly, if you asked me. You haven't lost a single hit point!
