This is the discussion for Meowselsworth's Prisoner Deathmatch Extravaganza!

Murder Monk stands in his holding cell looking around at the monitors displaying the faces and names listing his fellow contestants. He smiles as he looks at their petty crimes of mass murder.

Soon they would learn the true horror that waits in the dark. Killer robots? Pathetic. Redemption? Impossible. Morality? Irrelevant.

Murder Monk closed his eyes and prayed knowing that the time of illumination was at hand. An evil smile spreads across his face.

Ice Cream Man

Doin' the dot for now.

@Monk - Speaking of the 'time of illumination at hand', the awesome giant Cthulu mini in the Reaper Kickstarter set is great, thanks for showing me the coolness of Kickstarter (pledged $155, vampire level, plus 2 dracolich things, Jabberwock, and Cthulu monstrosity).

Male Possibly Xailehcian

Nice! I plan to option that one myself naturally! I am pretty excited about it.

I am a giant jerkface and I wish all of you other jerkfaces luck in this jerkface game run by this hugest of all jerkfaces.

PPS, I love all of you. <3

*squees and runs in circles in excitement*

A good morning to everyone! And glad you backed it Ms Kevorkian, helped us all get more stuff.

Female Helmet Cat

Gameplay thread is open. Also, there is no vote for Team Loser for this half-round, since I want a bloodless round for you guys to play your characters.

And yes, voting Mittens is a non-vote because Mittens is not a competitor.

Female Helmet Cat

The Unabridged Rules are posted in Campaign Info now. If there are further clarifications required that I missed, I will address them.

Female Helmet Cat

Oh, and in the first half-round, there is also no robot kill. We have to get to know our competitors a little first!

The Exchange

here on vacation till tuesday...

Grand Duke/Fred, hope you have a good one. That the weather is kind, the food good and the scenery more than you could hope for.

Female Helmet Cat

Because someone asked me about the first half round:

No abilities are used in this half-round, I want to have a full week of survival before the blood begins. The only thing happening on Monday is that the Team Leader election ends for the first round, so that there is one on the first death vote.

Ooooh!

Busting out the filk on the first round. I'm watching you...

Female Human

Ee. Hi guys. I just thought I would say a little something here. This is my first forum RP, so I am still sorta getting used to this whole deal. :) Sorry I have't posted much, been super busy all week. x_x But I will try to be more active. :3

Glad you're bopping in! :D

Yes welcome aboard. Glad to have you with us. Feel free to ask any questions.

5 Minute warning

Female Cimelocarn

Welcome Mattie.

As far as I see you're doing real well for this being your first forum RP. This is my first forum RP in Paizo and it's a bit different from what I'm used to which is good. New experiences and all right?

Cthulu mini? Dang that sounds good. Oh well. My Christmas Cthulu plush is good enough I suppose :)

*bows to Aaron* If you must watch me at least make sure to watch your back as well. We don't want your mind to be too stuck on one person ;)

It appears I've RP'd myself into a corner by mistake.

I thought the Scanbot was one of the good guys as the "Scanner" role has been in previous games. After re-reading the rules I just found out that he's a bad guy.

I'm just going to say that I'm not the Scanbot. I tried to allude people into thinking I was a different role in the same way Meows mentioned was possible in the Campaign tab. It was a silly mistake, however if your suspicions still cost me the round I'll understand.

I was going to point it out Hamish, but I thought it too Meta. However you survived one round so you may easily survive more.

The Exchange

not a slow weekend I see......

Male Possibly Xailehcian

Not a slow weekend??? Hardly anybody voted!! O_o

What's up peeps?

I wasn't going to mention it, but with a vote like that I had to say something...

Female Cimelocarn

What's up? Walked to my van last night and had two young skunks zip away in front of me. Soooo glad they didn't spray!!

Since it was in OOC text, I didn't think we were free to act on it.

Mech Pilot

!

I used to go for frequent night hikes with my dogs... they all learned to fear the white stripe.

Mech Pilot

Voting text is phrased OOC too, and that was assumed to be actionable.

That's lucky, whilst being unlucky, Finwa. I assume it should be verbally stated the votes - so if you do not actually use "He's a loser X" then any Blue votes are actually verbal. Or else you could just stealth vote and claim others are Meta'ing.

Ah, interesting. Thank you.

Female Helmet Cat

So very few people voted this round in comparison to most games that I've participated in before. I am wondering if perhaps I should extend the rounds to one week in length in order to give people more time to participate? Does anyone have thoughts on the matter? I am hoping that everyone playing has a good time, but if people are feeling unmotivated to play, what can I do to make things more engaging? I would like some feedback in terms of what you, the players, think.

I think one week would be good with this many players - at least until the herd is thinned somewhat. Some people have problems posting either weekends or weekdays, which might be affecting things.

I get scared when voting comes around. I always feel bad for the people who are voted out. It doesn't mean I wont vote, thats how the game is played. Time frame is irrelevant to me. Extending the time in which I must choose to lynch somebody doesn't make the process any easier.

Female Helmet Cat

I always feel bad for people who die early on, too. :( It is just the format the game, takes, unfortunately, and character death is rampant.

Mech Pilot

I think that with the quantity of players we have right now, longer rounds might be best. We could cut it back down to twice a week after we see some attrition...

I am going to try and get my votes in early; to allow others to feel more comfortable. Of course as you have seen I am very willing to change them.

I like the idea of 1 week voting to begin with Round 0 was fun! It is also the tail of summer so posting will be more sporadic!

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Why are we cooking?

If we didn't have something to RP about then the game would be harder to play, Meows is just giving us fun ways to interact between characters. Am I right Meows? I don't want to put words in your mouth.

Female Helmet Cat

Yep yep yep, the challenges are just RP challenges. It's always the votes that matter.

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Gotcha!

Female Helmet Cat

Alright, I will officially make the vote time one week, just so that our people all get a chance to vote. However, with this change in schedule, if someone does not post in a voting period then they will be disqualified from the Deathmatch. I don't like doing that, because that can hurt whatever side you're on pretty significantly, but I don't want this to drag on forever. If you post in discussion to say you're on vacation or your fingers have been hit by a truck, or pm me or something like that, I will count it as a post. I hope that you will all have enjoyed and will enjoy the game from here on out, and if there is anything I can do to make it more engaging for you, please let me know!

Female Helmet Cat

Round 3 ends 6pm MST on Monday.

Forgiveness for asking but what is the Deathmatch?

Legendary Merchant of Pins

A title? What are the Core Wars? What was the Murder Mystery? Silly rocking horse! :-P

Female Helmet Cat

The Deathmatch is the title, yeah. I was considering having it be a free for all brawl by which votes would be based on who did what to who, but the roleplay aspect to that seemed kind of limited. Still, all of these matches end with death, and thus deathmatch is still perhaps appropriate, even if the contest is not necessarily violence.

Turns out I never dotted this!

So huagh!

Female Helmet Cat

Alright, so, this week a couple of powerful Criminal side roles were disqualified, now balancing things rather heavily towards the robot end of things... Even though Velval was voted down, I consider him to have been disqualified, as the reason he was voted for was because he would be disqualified anyways. Two snitches and a heister were disqualified. I am wondering how I can make up for that, as that is two powerful information gathering roles and one communication role... I do not want this to be unenjoyable as a result of random chance for who didn't play.

Totally not a Werewolf

Did someone mention a fashion design round???

On a more serious note, if you feel that the sides have become completely unbalanced then you could add one or more of the eliminated roles to the 'vanilla' criminals...

Female Helmet Cat

Should I even continue? That's the question I've been asking myself. With participation as low as it has been, I am wondering if there is anything that I should have done differently, and alterations I should have made in order to make this game more engaging? This has been the game with the lowest level of participation since I have started watching these mafia games being played. I've been wanting to provide a fun and different setting for the Deathmatch Extravaganza, but perhaps it would have been better if I had just gone for vanilla werewolves, gone simpler rather than adding any signature roles?

I want feedback, this is my first time running this sort of thing, and I feel like I have failed spectacularly. I want to learn from it... but if I have been doing something wrong, I hope that people would have told me before I crashed and burned as terribly as this game has. I put a lot of work into it... and I do not like putting in a lot of work into something if I can't at least learn from it...

Mech Pilot

Awww, crazy busy week. I can't believe I didn't get a vote in :(

This game certainly had all the right elements, and you've been a good sport Meows- I've thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your narrative posts. We had a great cast and some really fun scenes... I really can't figure out what went wrong; I'm not sure why things have tapered off so much in these final rounds.

For my part, it's been an issue with my work and family life suddenly leaving me with much less free time. I'm very slow at getting in character and composing posts and usually have to go through a fair bit of brainstorming and drafting before I have something worth posting. Catching up on my PbPs was cutting into my sleeping time and left me shambling through the day like a zombie several times. I've had to severely cut back on my writing time, but I'm still disappointed that I didn't manage to get at least a 'keep alive' post in here.
