Female Helmet Cat

Anyone investigating another player will find out specific role information. When the investigation fails, I'll assign all the active roles a number (multiple numbers for multiple roles) and then roll a die to determine what the investigation picks up.

For example, if you examine an detective and succeed, you find out that they are an detective. If you examine the butcher and succeed, you find out that they are the butcher.

If you examine a blood brother and fail, I will assign all roles a number and roll. You may end up detecting that blood brother as a butcher, detective, town, regular mafia, or even blood brother if the role ends up that way. There is a chance that your investigation will turn up true results even if you fail, basically a correct guess, only true on accident. This is the way the investigation ability works for both butcher and detective.

Legendary Merchant of Pins

Female Helmet Cat

Since there seems to be occasional confusion on this point, I'm going to establish: Yeah, prohibition is in effect. In your small town, though, it wasn't necessarily unknown that even Sheriff Rastley had a little drink in his desk drawer. Still, drinking out in the open among strangers tended to get people in trouble.

Female Helmet Cat

If there are no objections, I would like to end this round on Tuesday, then I will end the next on Thursday. I usually do not get home until late on Fridays so I would like to end up in a Monday-Thursday round end schedule.

the Baker

Cool, so we had better start getting our lynching votes in if needs be...

But I was wondering if it might be better to finish Round 2 on next Monday (18th)? Then start the 2/week schedule then?

And what happens in the result of a lynching tie? No death or a random lynching?

I'll put my vote in for Random Lynching. I never liked it when players used a tie to prolong the game.

Female Helmet Cat

If mafia attack each other, everyone involved in the attack will learn each other's roles. If there are equal numbers of mafia attacking several targets, I will choose randomly between them. The target is whoever is chosen, and if a mafia is chosen in that attack, all attacking that target and that target learn each other's identities.

the Baker

So if the Lynching vote is tied. There's no lynching.

Female Helmet Cat

If lynching is tied, there's no lynching. I'm willing to be flexible on that, though, if enough people want to do random kill on lynch votes. I know it extend the game, but there are decent strategies to be used by forcing ties.

the Baker

I do like a no-lynching option, as it introduces new elements to the game and means that it's less random (although the detectives chances still are.)

EDIT: By the way, I have been sending some pm's. Hopefully you can tell from the IC thread? I hope this is alright with everyone.

Male

So, I'm in the middle of my parent teacher conferences (I'm the teacher). Is it wrong to be thinking about lynching people while talking to parents about their kids? :) lol

Female Helmet Cat

Yes. You're a bad person.

the Baker

Isn't that what most teachers feel, at least you have an 'excuse'.

:P

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

Teachers the lynch-pins of society.......

Male

LOL!

"I'm sorry Mrs Dean, I have to kill you now. It's what the group wants... it's not me... oh wait, I was talking about a game. Ummmm... Yes, a game where we kill people -But it's a FUN game, really! Well, not the killing and stuff (well that's fun too) but no really.
Oh yeah, your kid has an A, don't worry."

Female Helmet Cat

I always feel bad about the first round. :( The poor General.

Female Human

Cheese, now I gotta figure out what Clara's got in her pocketses! *headdesk* :D

It's worth talking in this pbp just to trot out some good old Southernisms!

Hey Willard,

Are you actually keeping notes some place or just RPing it?

Just curious.

The majority of it is just RP.

Any bold text in the thread is written down by default as well. The annotations are made up on the fly, and Willard has been keeping track of the vote tallies.

Of course, any character could just memorize all this stuff and relay it off the top of their head.

ROFLMAO

Female Helmet Cat

Remember, this round ends today at 6PM MST. I won't be home by then, but any messages or votes that come after this time will be ignored. The results will be posted when I get home.

Female Cimelocarn

Have fun wherever you are going my friend *hugs Meows*

Oh goodie I'm starting a panic!!! *dancy dancy dancy dance*

Female Helmet Cat

Remember, this round ends in 2.5 hours, get your votes in!

Spoiler:

I will only vote if doing so prevents the mob from killing me!

ie it is close enough that doing so would break it.

This round ends shortly......

Female Helmet Cat

1 more hour.

Female Helmet Cat

There is a rules conflict.

Tina Wolfswift voted after 6:00 MST, before my declaration of round over.

This affects the outcome of the round, which could affect the outcome of the game.

I'm inclined to throw Tina's vote out (to punish really late voting), but I would like to have any objection to this PMed to me. From here on out, my declaration of round ending is when the round ends, anything before the declaration will be considered, anything after thrown out. I will take a shower and consider the evidence upon my return, and post my decision.

I have already heard passionate arguments on both fronts. Please let me know.

Could somebody clear this up for me.

Is it to say that rounds end at the predetermined time or the round ends once the GM has made the call?

Liberty's Edge

I feel rounds should end at the mark given by the GM as the end-mark. Anything after that time should be thrown out.

I agree, I think if a vote is in before the GM's mark it should be counted, if it's after it should be thrown out. It gives a clear mark in game when the cutoff is. It also confuses me somewhat that you would throw this vote out just for punishment, then instate a rule that would keep it.

Female Cimelocarn

Both Tina's and Meows posts were done at the same time so before or after does not fit into it; therefore, I think it is all up to Meows on how she wants to deal with it and has every right to throw it out or keep it - whichever she feels is best for the game.

Liberty's Edge

Time stamps matter.

The GM said the round ends at 6 MST. In another round she said she'd be late and that the cut off time was declared.

The rules ought to be consistently maintained.

the Baker

After 8 (or 12) hours it turns from "7hours 59 minutes ago" to the date.

So does it end at 6:00:00 or 5:59:59? or 6:00pm as Jin's post on Monday was at 6pm and not counted?

The Exchange

I like the up to the wire, but really if the mob is in action, swooping in on someone a lone voice is unlikely to deter the mob.....

I think maybe a breather at the end of a round, no one can post again until your summary and declaration the next round has begun.

I agree with the Duke so removed the posts that went in after the count. Heck, I could be dead for all I know *shrug*

Liberty's Edge

Male Mutated humanoid avian with bird flu Expert Witness 20

I like the Duke's idea there. Consider it seconded.

Male

I haven't looked at the vote count yet -- but in the last cycle, I was typing my vote and had hit submit before the clock dinged, but with paizo running slow and my connection being so slow I missed the vote cutoff by like 7seconds. Now my vote was meaningless... so it didn't bother me. But we've already had GM rule on votes being late

Female Helmet Cat

Right, but your vote was counted as late because it was after my 'round end' declaration, not because of timestamp.

This one is before the 'round end' declaration, but the timestamp is 6:00:07, which is after 6PM MST.

Which means Clara's vote should have stayed on Clarence and not been switched to 'abstain' because it was right on the hour.

Ultimately... the call is a question of self-consistency vs measurable accuracy. I ended up choosing measurable accuracy... I am the GM who would square length and square width and add them together and see if it is less than the square of your move. Measurable accuracy is something I want to foster, so that everyone knows where everything stands. I heard arguments from both sides, and that's my decision. I hope no feelings will be hurt.

From here on out, 6pm MST by the timestamps. I think that's 00:00:00 paizo time. I will accept votes that are exactly 00:00:00 paizo time. This is the way we get the most accuracy.
