Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

Nodding in agreement, "Yes, wolf attacks are a concern for the settlers, current and future. Your aid in dealing with that threat would be much appreciated."

Is it possible he's been infected and doesn't know? Keep an open mind, Rhasadilara, follow the trail, don't try to anticipate where it goes.

HP: 39 AC/Touch/Flat 17/10/17 | Fort/Ref/Will +10/+4/+11 | Init +0 | CMB +5; CMD 15

Jirani cocks an eyebrow at the comment about a wolf attack and reaches out with his senses to see if the man has a presence in the realms beyond normal seeing. Detect Evil. Unlikely but if he has enough HS I might get a ding?

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Jirani - you sense a 'taint' - the man is basically good, but...

Kundal says "It was maybe five days' travel to the north. I don't remember much of the attack. I was asleep... but I've been having terrible dreams about blood and fury, that's why I've been drinking more than is good for me. I need to get sorted out... Maybe a steady job will help, but who can heal bad dreams?"

Male Vudran bard (magician) 2/ninja 3; hp 38; AC 13, T 12, FF 11; Init +4; F +2, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. sleep, paralysis, and stun); Perc +7

As Lothar listens to the large man's words, his face hardens. From what he could tell, the danger wasn't limited to just this one individual. For even when this was dealt with, there was still the wolf pack that Kundal mentioned. They too would have to be sought out and purged to prevent any other occurrence like this from happening again.

For matters pertaining to the soul, one typically goes to a holy man. He then turned his attention back to Rhasa. Given the amount time that has elapsed, partner, how easily could you track these wolves?

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

"mmm" She looks into space, thinking, for a moment.

"Many factors weigh in on tracking. Primarily, I am concerned about two. We would need to find the exact site, of course. And the weather that has occurred since the attack. Five days' travel to get here and five days' travel to return to the site plus the intervening time... it might be quite easy, but it's more likely that it will be impossible. We likely will need to locate them through other means."

Noriel recalls the phases of the moon, and trys to recall the phase of the moon just last night.

"Was the moon full last night, it must have been, which means if it was the start, there may be 2 more days of it. Werewolves change with the moon right?"

She questions her own thoughts unsure of the exact way of the wild nature of werewolves but contemplates ideas in her head. Since she has made what she would believe a friend of Rhasadilara, she catches her when she steps off of Kundal and whispers to her.

"Rhasa, did you see that the mans finger nails they were very dirty, I could only assume from digging or running on all fours, which seems a bit unlikely for a man of his statue but I am not familiar with this werewolf idea. If we are to travel for days, it may be best to keep our eye on him at night especially during the high phases of the moon"

Noriel continues to follow with the group, other than her whisper to Rhasadilara, she keeps to herself watching, or perhaps more of stare at kundal.

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

The ranger lets herself be pulled back from Kundal for a brief conference. Nodding in agreement, she returns to her position walking along the big human.

We'll figure something out, Golden Arm.

Lothar regarded Kundal for a moment before speaking. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The Wardens and I will look into the matter as soon as we can.

He watched closely to see what else he could glean from this somewhat guarded man.

Attempting a Sense Motive check on Kundal. Is there a bonus or penalty for him being hung-over? Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

The moon is full tonight.

Lothar, you don't think he's trying to hide anything but he does sound fairly confused.

You arrive at the fort where Gorguk is waiting.

Jirani motions to Lothar and pulls him aside a moment, [smaller]I have looked upon him with the blessings of my Lady and she shows me a glimmer of evil, a taint if you will. He is basically a good man but something presses on him. We may do well to take steps to restrain him soon. If we think he might could change into something else, I believe Pharasma has told me it is likely.

Male Vudran bard (magician) 2/ninja 3; hp 38; AC 13, T 12, FF 11; Init +4; F +2, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. sleep, paralysis, and stun); Perc +7

It is as I suspected. You could be right about taking precautions. I would, however, like to minimize the possibility of this spreading beyond Kundal and out into the populace. I have no concerns about Lord Gorguk's proficiency in combat, but I am concerned about endangering the militia. Any one of them could come away like Kundal if we're not careful.

Lothar turned to stare at Kundal, even as he began multiple castings of his messaging spell, linking himself to the other Wardens.

Jirani believes we should act to restrain Kundal. I am inclined to agree. We must act decisively, but with great care so that no lasting harm comes to the man. Just as important is that no harm should come to the civilians as well, either from us or through Kundal. It is our risk, not theirs. Is this understood?

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

What time is it? Are we anywhere near moonrise?

Male Vudran bard (magician) 2/ninja 3; hp 38; AC 13, T 12, FF 11; Init +4; F +2, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. sleep, paralysis, and stun); Perc +7

I was under the impression it was late morning to early afternoon.

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

Rhasa stops to greet a settler briefly while the others continue. Whispering back, "Can we wait until we are not standing next to the man to speak in confidence? I agree in principle. But in due time. The moon has to complete its path below."

Male Vudran bard (magician) 2/ninja 3; hp 38; AC 13, T 12, FF 11; Init +4; F +2, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. sleep, paralysis, and stun); Perc +7

Lothar considered his partner's words carefully. So far all they had were assumptions based on the evidence at hand, which was at best circumstantial.

The Wardens needed more than this before they could act.

As always, your wisdom rings true, Golden Arm. We shall indeed wait. Wardens, stand down for now.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Lothar is correct, it's about midday.

Gorguk comes over to you.

"Ah, is this the man you were talking about? We can always use good men in the militia. Do you have any military experience?" he asks.

Kundal blinks a little owlishly, then responds, "No Sir, not directly. But I am good with the longbow and can organise a hunt. I am strong and I am willing to learn. Sorry about my appearance, I tried to drown some bad dreams in strong drink. Didn't work. Won't happen again."

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

"Some would have you believe that dreams are messages from your subconscious. Perhaps we could help you interpret the message - what was the dream, exactly?"

"Um...well..." Kundal looks embarrassed. "Just incoherent images of fighting and biting and blood."

Gorguk looks concerned.

"Have you been involved in any brawls lately?" he asks.

Noriel, Kundal is remaining obdurately human, but you do notice that he is holding his hands as if they were claws, flexing them as if about to attack. The rest of his posture, however, seems relaxed and non-combatant.

Kineticist (Aether) || Level 5 || Female || "Half-elf (Drow)" --- HP: (55 / 50) +5 Temp || AC: 15 Flat-Footed: 13 Touch: 12 || Saves: Fort: +9 Ref: +6 Will: +2 || CMB: +3 CMD: 15 --- Skills: §Acrobatics: +8, Disable device: +9, §Heal: +12, §Knowledge (Engineering): +9, §Perception: +12, §Sleight of Hand: +8 §Stealth+8

Noriel immediately draws up her attention to the man acting as though he was human but showing a feeling of claws as hands, moving them in a aggressive way. She bits her tongue, not saying nothing about it to the group, however, she is always prep for immediate strike if necessary, never letting her guard down around him.

Thinking but accidentally sending a message to the group through the link spell as she never used that spell before.

Message:"Is he going to attack? His hands appear to be claws, or acting like it. I will just keep watching, of course I will."

The message seems to linger out on as her thoughts appear to continue on but in her own mind. Visually her pose is on the offense, and she takes a few more steps back from the man to keep her distance.

Liberty's Edge

Kundal says "I am not much of a brawler unless there is good cause, Sir, although... I'm not certain if I can answer for everthing over the past couple of days. I drank too much, I admit it, and cannot remember everything that happened. I woke up in the night with blood on my hands, I'm scared that I may have hurt someone...."

He's looking a bit scared now.

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

"Where did you wake up, Kundal?"

He seems a good man. Can we remove this taint from him safely? I hope Calindar will know.

"Warden Gorguk, where is friend Calindar?"

At Noriel's sending, Lothar positioned himself both in front of and to the left of Gorguk. He looked determinedly at the larger Kundal, poised to spring into action should the situation required it.

He hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Has this happened to you before?

Jirani leans on his polearm intently, waiting to see how the man responds. AS far as he knew stress would not mark the change....but who knew with such potential dire afflictions?

Kundal eyes Lothar warily.

"Never, Sir. I swear..."

Gorguk calls over a militiaman and sends him to find Calindar.

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

"That's good. When you woke up this morning, where did you find yourself?"

Liberty's Edge

"In my bed... but there was blood, and mud..."

He looks really scared.

Noriel speaks out of turn.

"Kundal would you accept secured observation for both your safety and others tonight, perhaps within confinement?

She speaks with a bit of a flustered tone, but she still sounds very sweet as though she was trying to ease the situation.

Male Vudran bard (magician) 2/ninja 3; hp 38; AC 13, T 12, FF 11; Init +4; F +2, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. sleep, paralysis, and stun); Perc +7

Lothar glared at Noriel before casting a glance towards Rhasa, his face a grim mask. It was looking worse and worse for Kundal. With each word he spoke, the big man was making himself the culprit of the heinous act perpetrated the night before.

Kundal, please ignore her. And on behalf of the Wardens, I apologize for what she said. It was out of line and inappropriate.

The last thing that needed to happen was for the man to become agitated. Particularly if he was the murderer of the the young child.

Lothar was not completely convinced that Kundal was the monster that killed the lass. Even with the mounting circumstantial evidence against him.

There were still a couple of things that needed to be answered. The Vudran ran a hand over hand over his scalp, released a deep breath, then settled into his next line of questions.

Kundal are you familiar with Saki, the young serving girl from Dyfrig's establishment? Dyfrig reports that she went missing this morning while on an errand. Picking berries. Would you know her if you saw her?

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

Rhasadilara watched the big man's reaction closely when Noriel sprung her question on him. The same question Rhasadilara wanted to ask, but was unsure if the moment was right.

She easily read Lothar's body language and knew he didn't approve, but perhaps it was the only way to mark the man as innocent, to observe him during the time when he would most likely be affected by the curse. Or maybe it would tell them nothing at all.

Calindar, I hope your god grants you insight!

She sighed quietly.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Kundal looked confused.

"C...confinement? Observation? What do you mean? Would that help? It might, at least, ease my mind."

Calindar came out of the main keep, hair standing on end (classic case of bed head) and looking a bit wan.

"Sorry, I have had a stomach upset - I should know better to eat food not prepared by Dyfrig. Good to see you all again. But who is this?"

Meanwhile, Kundal looked at Lothar.

"Saki? Was that her name? I saw her there a couple of nights ago. Has she gone missing? Can I help?"

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

Rhasadilara strides to intercept the holy man, putting a hand on each shoulder and stopping his progress.

Out loud, she greets him, "My friend, it has been far too long since we have seen you. I am sorry to hear you have been ailing. Is there anything I can do to help? Retrieve an herb to settle your stomach?"

Whispering, she adds, "Kundal is a recent arrival to the settlement. It is a long story, but we fear he has been bitten by werewolves and bears their taint. I am hoping you have the knowledge and the means to cure him, if curing be necessary."

Turning around and pulling the slightly dazed cleric up close, she walks him back toward the rest of the group.

Kineticist (Aether) || Level 5 || Female || "Half-elf (Drow)" --- HP: (55 / 50) +5 Temp || AC: 15 Flat-Footed: 13 Touch: 12 || Saves: Fort: +9 Ref: +6 Will: +2 || CMB: +3 CMD: 15 --- Skills: §Acrobatics: +8, Disable device: +9, §Heal: +12, §Knowledge (Engineering): +9, §Perception: +12, §Sleight of Hand: +8 §Stealth+8

"Kundal, I believe you miss understand my intentions. Your a big man, and should these werewolves have managed to get a hold of you, and curse you it may be best that you surrender to Observation in Confinement purely for the comfort of the city as well as to insure your not a danger to them or yourself."

Of Noriel has never been one to be gentle in her words but she actually was trying to sway Kundal into confinement, it would be rather rude to just kill him if he was a werewolf when other means could be taken. Typically, that would be the fastest way to results.

She steps forward Kundal and props her hand on her hip, while flowing her other hand gentle through her hair.

"You wouldn't want to accidentally kill someone would you Sir Kundal?"

Noriel thinks what does she knows about werewolves while she stares at Kundal:

Intelligence to recall anything about werewolves: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Calindar whispers back "Many things can be done to cure one so afflicted... as for me, if you know of something to settle the stomach, I'd be grateful. This settlement needs some practitioners of the healing arts, perhaps a herbalist.

Kundal, if anything, looks even more confused at Noriel's second assay to explain her intentions.

"If it will help... Wait! You think I might have been infected with the werewolves' curse? What will become of me?"

He looks close to tears... or panic.

Noriel:
You know that werewolves are vicious beasts, devoid of any saving graces whatsoever, and that once infected the only way to deal with them is to kill them stone dead! OOC: with a roll like that, what do you expect?

Male Vudran bard (magician) 2/ninja 3; hp 38; AC 13, T 12, FF 11; Init +4; F +2, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. sleep, paralysis, and stun); Perc +7

How big are Kundal's feet? If Lothar needs to make a Perception check, he'll do so. I ask because I remember that being a distinctive trait about the footprints left at the scene.

Liberty's Edge

Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

Kundal has enormous feet, even given that he's a 'giant economy scale' fellow in general. He's nearly 7ft and wide-shouldered.

Male Vudran bard (magician) 2/ninja 3; hp 38; AC 13, T 12, FF 11; Init +4; F +2, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. sleep, paralysis, and stun); Perc +7

Rhasa, get Noriel to stand down.

Lothar could feel the situation beginning to unravel. Kundal was on the verge of panic. Noriel had a gleam in her eye that conveyed her intent all too clearly. If something wasn't done, and soon, blood would be shed.

He began to speak in a calm soothing tone that started out low. This was meant to force Kundal to listen at him. He then altered the timbre and as he did so, Lothar moved his hands to create a pattern meant to draw the large man's eye. But that movement was nothing more than window-dressing, a feint.

The true threat lay hidden within his voice. Because the sounds being intoned by the Vudran were meant to hold the giant in place, to enthrall him by overstimulating his senses. The movement of his arms and hands would only add to the effect.

Attempting to use a bardic performance to fascinate Kundal. Will DC 13. Probably not the best option, but the Magician can't seem to think of a way out of this that would prevent a fight from breaking out. If it fails, at least Kundal's ire will be directed at Lothar.

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

Suspecting the magician's plan, Rhasadilara holds up a finger toward the kineticist. "Lady Noriel, one moment."

Kineticist (Aether) || Level 5 || Female || "Half-elf (Drow)" --- HP: (55 / 50) +5 Temp || AC: 15 Flat-Footed: 13 Touch: 12 || Saves: Fort: +9 Ref: +6 Will: +2 || CMB: +3 CMD: 15 --- Skills: §Acrobatics: +8, Disable device: +9, §Heal: +12, §Knowledge (Engineering): +9, §Perception: +12, §Sleight of Hand: +8 §Stealth+8

Noriel spots Rhasadilara immediately pointing a finger at her, she decides that its best this conversation be taken out side and as such she heads for the door. Once out side she walks in a circle pattern trying to keep her cool.

"Rhasadilara, I don't see the point in this that beast in there is going to strike, its only a matter of moments, we shouldn't be wasting time talking outside.

Noriel couldn't help it her tone rash and undirected but you surely could see her rage from such poor ways to handle the situation, she is so used to the blunt forms of the Drow, but again she has a lot to learn about life outside of underdark.

Elf Ranger (Guide, Skirmisher)

You misunderstood my post. "holds up a finger" is not "points a finger at" -- as in the same thing she said, a physical expression of "please wait".

Rhasadilara is a bit concerned as the keyed-up woman heads out the door. Where is she going? We need everyone here if this goes wrong.

Rhasa doesn't follow Noriel outside, hoping the woman is able to calm herself and return quickly.

"Yes misunderstanding"

In that case Noriel stands at the door with her kinetic ability holding the door open in case she is needed for the situation.

Rhasadilara notes the other woman's readiness and nods. Good. Now, may Desna bless Lothar's plan with success.

With lack of posting I need to bring something to the table

Noriel could see that the tension in the room was being settled as the large man was being calmed by Rhasadilara and Lothar, of course they already had sent her from the room practically. She assumed that her tension was making things even more unsettling. Though from prying eyes she watched from the distance of the door. In the mean, she was outside watching the people as they were passing buy and she watched someone run to the church, not really sure what that was about. The apparent kid had something silver in his hand, perhaps a chalice or something for the priest.

"Perhaps it is for the young lady passing? She thought with a questioned look on her face.

Noriel brushed her hair back with her fingers, allow her hair to settle on her shoulder, as she pulled her hat down with the other hand. It felt good to remove the hat and let her head breath just a bit. Besides there was much else going on other than the man talking with Lothar and the others.

She could over hear them talking about the werewolf issue the man was really concerned that he was being accused about him being the werewolf, though words from lothar were settling enough to keep the man from acting out, thankfully.

Noriel looked up into the sky and saw that the day was slowing becoming dark.

"But a few hours till dusk"

Her concern was that the man would shapechange into that crazy werewolf form if he was in fact a wild werewolf, or infected. Although there was still time before this was going to happen and all she could think about was.

"If he is not behind bars soon for his safety and the others its going to be a long night ahead."

Noriel kept her distance at the door but she waited for the immediate possible transformation or outburst of the giant in the room, Kundal.
