I have no problem with Gorguk continuing as an NPC in the role set forth by him (I'm speculating that we're talking the leadership role in regards to the kingdom).
As far as the player situation goes... I think we do need another player, someone to fill in the heavy combat spot now vacant with his absence. I'm not designed for it and neither, I suspect, is Rhasa.
I'm still not sure what happened... I just figured that between my own problems plus the holidays, we were just uneasy moving forward.

SO I am thinking something like this....
Ongoing Kingmaker game, currently in book 2, and at 5th level seeks a tank type of character to aid us in building our kingdom...and hopefully finishing the AP.
Our DM is none other than the famous Megan Robertson.
We currently have
Calendar cleric 5
Rhasadilara ranger 5
Barnabus witch 5
Lothar Bard 2/ Ninja 3

Hello everyone,
I am the aforementioned lurker. I've been reading your game since the summer and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The basic premise behind this character is that he is "on the run" which is a pretty classic idea behind many settlers. (I am/was a history teacher) Nilus is a native Rostlander and carries with him many of their prejudices against the Issian nobility. He spent most of his adult life as a soldier and after a run in with a little lordling which put him on the fast track to the gallows he decided to head for the Stolen Lands.
I left alot of his story blank to fill in parts as to fit your story.
As for his crunch, I decided for the Unbreakable archetype, I figured it would be awesome if this guy was just stubborn enough to survive anything. I used a 15 point buy and took only feats from the PRD. I used about 3000GP to outfit Nilus because I noticed you guys were behind your WBL a little bit.
Thank you kindly for your consideration and great game!
Lothar Narda |
Oh, you're plenty famous, DM. Between the games you run plus your reviews, I'd say you're very well known.
A fighter with the Unbreakable archetype could be plenty interesting, especially given the stubborn fluff. I like him just on that alone.
I look forward to seeing how well he interacts with the other Wardens.

I'm sorry everyone, I can't believe it's been three weeks since I posted last. I can't believe it's been that long.
I finally got the parts for my first high power model rocket over the holidays and between that and work, the time has just flown by.
I'm sorry to hear about Gorguk dropping out, but glad that we were able to find another player.
Welcome to our group Nilus, glad to have you with us.
I can help out on the front line a bit as well. Have morningstar, ready to whack stuff with it.
Calinder Surital |
I just went back through the discussion thread and saw where we had thrown out some names, but I couldn't see that we had decided on one.
Let's give it some thought and come up with something good to name our new city.
I also believe that collecting the fangberries was the last of our original tasks that we had to complete, at least from the notes that I had.
I know Gorguk was the one that was real interested in doing the kingdom building and I was willing to help, but I'm not interested enough myself to take it over entirely on my own. If no one else is interested in doing the kingdom building part of the adventure, I say we just let it go on in the background, of course if that's okay with our GM.
Lothar Narda |
Same here... though I was curious to see how that system played out as I was looking to make use of it during a future portion of the current campaign I'm running for my players, it's looking more likely that the kingdom building subset won't be factoring into my group's game.
Nilus Romerus |
In case you guys were wondering about Nilus, the way I see it is this way.
He spent a majority of his years as a mercenary hiring himself out to whoever could pay. This led him into doing some not so goodly things. This has impacted his worldview a bit, I'm going to RP a change in alignment from CN to more LN and perhaps a long long way down the road LG. The change will occur as Nilus adopts a more loyal stance towards the kingdom and begins valuing it over his own skin which is the move to LN. And then once he truly cares about the people of the new kingdom and begins sacrificing on their behalf, that would be his shift to LG.
Of course events could push him more quickly down the path but that is how I see things going for Nilus.
I'm having fun, thanks again for letting me in your game.

And until our recent snows, mild by comparison to Atlanta, of all places, we have basically had no moisture. We have had cold spells that Minnesota would be proud of, but almost literally no water.
I honestly was praying some of what is hitting the South and East this time was going to just bury us. We need it, the crops need it.
As long as everyone is safe, of course.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough |
We are finally getting some snow and rain here, it wasn't looking good for water supplies for the coming summer. It also washed out the inversion we had been stuck in for weeks.
Yeah, that's what we're looking at. Our city has had water restrictions during the summer for more than two decades. It got bad enough last year that our neighboring towns had to do it, too, and more drastically. But since they have better water sources than we do, that bodes ill for our water this coming summer. Lakes are low, rivers are dry, yada, yada, yada.
Our garden is likely to not happen this year. They are talking about banning any outside watering at all.

Is it me or do we seem rudderless in the wake of Gorguk's departure?
I really want to see this AP through guys, but I'll understand if the rest of you don't. A couple of questions need to be asked (Nilus doesn't have to answer these [he's only just arrived], but can if he wants to). So I guess then on to the questions:
First off, who still wants to continue on?
Second, of those wanting to continue, who replaces Gorguk as field commander?
Rhasadilara Goldenbough |
I wish to continue.
I don't think Rhasa's personality is really the field commander type, but I have tried to push just a little. Should we be more presumptuous in our posts instead of waiting for feedback from Megan? As in, let her react to the assumptions we make rather than letting her tell us what we see as we explore?
I don't think Rhasa should be a leader except maybe in certain situations. Our current overland travel might be such a case.
Lothar Narda |
I've gone out of my way to avoid being in a leadership role... it's not something I as a player am too comfortable doing. That said, I can perform the role if it's needed. What it comes down to then is whether or not it's desired by the rest (the role, that is).
I do like the idea of group members stepping up to fulfill a role as the situation demands. Gives everyone the opportunity to shine.
I don't know. Maybe I'm poking a stick at a bear that doesn't need to be riled. I don't get to roleplay at all save for this online campaign. I'm the one who runs the games in my group because no one else wants to. So this has been a big help for me as far as keeping it together goes.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough |
I am spread to thin - both across the many games I am in and between here and real life - to keep track of the thread well enough to play the leader. And, as I said, I don't think Rhasa's the type.
I know it's a bit early in the relationship for our latest companion to step into that role, but is he the type? We don't know him well enough to know yet.
Nilus Romerus |
I'm still here and Nilus "could" certainly play the role of commander, he is really new to the company. Also, he may be too brusque and less altruistic than the other members. I haven't been posting mostly because there wasn't anything to post about. I am very active on the boards though so I keep up with the thread.
Barnabus |
Barnabus is too much of the thinker type rather than the doer type. It seems that the pragmatic approach is to follow the charter and the shiny guy with a sword on top of a horse........
Also he has not really viewed anyone as the "leader" usually Rasha in the wilds and Cal in diplomacy......
Calinder Surital |
I'm still here as well and check in as often as I can, and I would like to continue on as well. I'm in Lothar's situation as well with my tabletop group. Online is pretty much my only chance to be a player.
I was kind of avoiding taking the leadership role as well. I ended up doing that in the last online game in which I was playing, and I was hoping for a break from that, but I can if that is what everyone would like. I do not think it would be too much a stretch for Calinder as a character, although he is more a scholar.
I also do not mind sharing leadership with one or two others if our skills combine to cover all the needed traits.
If I take on the leader role, I would just ask one thing of my fellow players. Calinder will probably ask for suggestions from time to time, and it would be great to get some feed back. Also, if I (Calinder) makes a decision and it is not a good one in your opinion, please say something, I will not care, and will be happy to discuss it.
I will make more of an effort to check in more often as well. The only big issue I have is that I am on-call for work every third week and that tends to make things crazier than normal.
Cheers and good evening to everyone, let's keep this going as I am really enjoying it.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough |
I don't want to twist anyone's arm into a role they aren't comfortable with, but I think a truly organic group in real life can move from one person's leading to another, also.
Rest assured, if Rhasa thinks she has a better answer to the question you face, she's going to speak up. She's got your back.
Rhasadilara Goldenbough |
Bokken's. Here's the route posted Feb 27. No one brought up any concerns, so it's what I thought we were following.
Thinking that we will start in E7, pass through E6, F6, to the middle of G5, then north along the margin of F4 and unexplored G4, through G3 and along the margin of F2 and unexplored G2, to the road in unexplored G1. If we spot Bokken's before we reach the road, we will turn toward it. Otherwise, we will turn toward the Trading Post until we find the trail to his place.
