Cal how does this sound for the next couple of months?
Month 7: build a town commons for the people to congregate.
Month 8-10 save money to purchase a larger building that either creates magic items (caster's tower or for us to sell for BP or a carpeter's shop to reduce value of all buildings by 1
If so then we will need 4 stability and economy checks from you.
No more 1's please

OK, just finished skim-reading the entire thread. We do good work.
I will update the map according to my notes of what hexes we have checked out.
One thing I wanted to note: the gear that was collected from the skeleton at the tatzlwyrms' lair got lost in the drama between Lothar and Rhasadilara.
It included a suit of +1 scale mail (per Calinder's identification), a masterwork cold iron longsword, 38 gp, 520 sp, a pewter drinking stein, a heavy unmarked silver ring, a jade carving of a nude female elven monk, and a waterproof scroll tube.
These were last seen in a Rhasadilara's saddlebags, which she left with Lothar outside the fort when they had their recently-mended tiff.
We need to investigate what's in the tube and determine what we want to do with the gear.
Map to be worked on, probably tomorrow.

OK, I had a moment. I have two discrepancies. F5 does not appear to be listed anywhere as explored, but it's right in the middle of a lot of hexes we have checked extensively - in fact, it's part of Kyland already.
And B6 is where we encountered the tatzlwyrms - should it be considered explored?

Speaking of which, I'm carrying Davik Nettles' returning ranseur. Much as I would like to keep it because I think it's cool, it's worth even more than the armor, so it needs to go into the kitty, as well.
Did we sell the gear from the Stag Lord? His helm and armor were magical, but I don't think anyone chose to use them.

Gorguk that sounds like a plan to me, I like either the caster's tower or the carpenter's shop.
Rolls for the next several months:
Month 7 - Stability: 1d20 ⇒ 6, Economy: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Month 8 - Stability: 1d20 ⇒ 11, Economy: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Month 9 - Stability: 1d20 ⇒ 16, Economy: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Month 10 - Stability: 1d20 ⇒ 15, Economy: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Well, no ones, but some pretty low rolls, hopefully they are still useful.

I wasn't going to jinx it but. Needed a 4 or higher to succeed. All of them passed but barely. I will get it updated and then let you know where we are at. If we can afford it I am thinking the Caster's tower so Barnabus can have a place for the children to be taught as well.
Gorguk |
Ok so we had enough for the caster's tower and 6 BP left over as well. Megan do you want us to worry about generating magic items or not really since we have no money right now. We can just say we are selling a medium item each time to gentle the BP and leave it at that until we start getting more gp.
Currently we have a value of 200gp in our city. That means that we have a 75% chance of finding any itme below that value in our city. Normal nonmagical items below that value are always available though. Next few building will go towards building that up a bit in case we want to purchase larger items.
Also Megan do you want to ignore the random events? It seems they are 50/50 good bad so if we ignore them it evens out unless you have plot specific ones of course.

That is a good question as it is up t Megan. I guess at any time we can stop or fast forward to match one with the other. We could do 5 years of kingdom building to have it done but we need to explore more to have the hexes available so we know what we are doing. I am just going until told to stop so we are not held up on this end.

We can treat your year or so of 'kingdom building' stuff as foreward planning - you are not only deciding what to do, but putting measures in place to make it happen: requesting craftsmen and materials you cannot source locally and such like.

Sorry about putting off my post, it's just that I've been caught up in the madness that is FF XIV: A Realm Reborn. Specifically, taking advantage of the fact that since I was a beta tester on the PS3 version and my last update was an actual copy of the game that I could play until the 14th of this month before I get charged the 15 buck monthly fee. Lately, getting on has been an exercise in frustration (your world is currently full) and since I try not to write when in a foul mood, I've been putting it off. Don't worry, I have been following the story and will post something before the end of the week.
Lothar Narda |
Glad to hear some good news.
Last week has been the worst of the year so far.
My roommate and I both lost our jobs, within days of each other. And its put me in a really foul mood.
I know I said I would put up a post, but I can't right now. I'll get back to you guys as soon as I can. In the meantime, use Lothar as you need to.
Calinder Surital |
Congrats Megan, that's great to hear.
Lothar, sorry to hear the news about your job. Take your time, get your feet back underneath you, and join us when you can. We'll take good care of Lothar.
Now let's see, can we marry off Lothar to someone like we did to a PC in my RL game while the player was on vacation for two weeks. ;-)
Seriously though, if there is anything I can do, even if it's just to give you some encouragement, let me know. Went through the same thing last year. I think most of us have been job hunting at one time or another since we began this adventure together.
Calinder Surital |
Megan,
Are you waiting for us to do something before we move on? Just thought I'd ask since no one has posted since my last post five days ago.
Or did I just dampen everyone's spirit's with Calinder's complaining about the rain? :-)
Calinder was just in a complaining mood that day, I felt it in me and it just came out, honest!
If we're taking a breather while Rhasa is on vacation and Lothar is getting his feet back underneath him, that's all good too.
Have a good evening/night everyone.
Megan Robertson |
I think you caught the spirit admirably, Calinder...
Now, it appears I have landed some work - part-time so far - teaching at a college. Just sorting out the administrivia & stuff, they are desperate to put me in front of students so it shouldn't be too long. But I am getting excited!!!

Megan.
Since you are so busy I thought this might save you some time.
It is text/descriptions for hexes that have "nothing" in them. I think you do a great job with descriptions of wild-life and thought these two things together might really decrease the amount of work you are doing

For the LDS: Visited my local Temple for the first time yesterday. Beautiful place, really peaceful.
And thank you for the link. Useful :)
Glad to hear you have a place to restore yourself, those are rare and precious.
And no problem on the sharing.
Calinder Surital |
Sorry to seem to have dropped out there for awhile. I checked in what seemed like just a few days ago and didn't really have anything to add. Then work got busy with it being my turn to be the after hours on-call person. Then I remembered that I needed to check in and realized it's been over a week since my last post and there's a couple dozen new posts for me to catch up on.
Where has the time gone? Wow!
Calinder Surital |
Wow, what a busy weekend.
A system upgrade for one of our major software packages at the company I work for. I was assisting with validation after the upgrade. It all went pretty well, just a couple of minor issues.
I also had a consulting project that was due tomorrow, and I just finished. Now some time to relax for a bit.
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the holiday season. Have a good evening everyone.
