Extend metamagic rod (lesser, 3/day) Metamagic rods hold the essence of a metamagic feat, allowing the user to apply metamagic effects to spells (but not spell like abilities) as they are cast. This does not change the spell slot of the altered spell. All the rods described here are use-activated (but casting spells in a threatened area still draws an attack of opportunity). A caster may only use one metamagic rod on any given spell, but it is permissible to combine a rod with metamagic feats possessed by the rod's wielder. In this case, only the feats possessed by the wielder adjust the spell slot of the spell being cast.

Possession of a metamagic rod does not confer the associated feat on the owner, only the ability to use the given feat a specified number of times per day. A sorcerer still must take a full-round action when using a metamagic rod, just as if using a metamagic feat he possesses (except for quicken metamagic rods, which can be used as a swift action).

The wielder can cast up to three spells per day that are extended as though using the Extend Spell feat. Lesser metamagic rods can be used with spells of 3rd level or lower.

Where She's Been All This Time:

Janatris had the timing of arriving in Korvosa just before the plague struck and has been stuck tending to the sick in places where she could help in seclusion without getting mauled by desperate individuals seeking a cure. Prior to her arrival in Korvosa, Janatris lived the life of an adventurer, exploring forgotten tombs and undertaking dangerous jobs in an effort to carve out her own path.

The daughter of a taverner, she grew up to tales of daring adventurers and discovering wonderous riches. With her coming of age, and under her father's blessing, she set out on her journey lasting several years before finally acquiring enough wealth and stories where she felt like she could start her own temple/tavern and semi-retire. The festive, free natured city of Korvosa seemed like a grand place for it.

Unfortunately, what aid she offered freely sapped much of her stored wealth. Rumors of a mad queen that plots to kill her people didn't help either. Now trapped within the city, Janatris has been working covertly behind the scenes keeping up the spirits of the people while trying to uncover any truth about the rumors.

Ok... Peronally.. I'm of the opinion ...considering how we have such a revolving door in this game of players comming in and leaving.. if ALL three of you wanted in.. I'd be fine with it. But I'll let Ebon Wing and Edmund Gwenn have their piece before we make it a done deal. Megan does not seem to mind how many players we have at all. I'm just interested in having players with staying power. I'm not a 'original' character in the game.. but I AM the ONLY remaining character from the 1st part of the AP#7 "Edge of Anarchy"!

Some context for you new prospective players to be considering... we are in the third part of the AP#9 "Escape from Old Korvosa".

The party is Known as the JUSTICARS... we defeated a temple of Urgathoan's who were spreading disease through out Korvosa working with the Red Mantis Assassins.. apparently under the orders of Queen Ileosa!

With the Aid of the Nosferatu Vampire Lord Arkmino Rimoska who was also an unwilling assistant to the Urgathoans... 'Ashe' {my character} developed a cure for the plague.

Asherick's uncle - Commandant Marcus Thassilonius Endrin tried to assassinate Queen Ileosa in public when she was announcing the disbandment of the Sable Company in favor of her Grey Maiden personal Guard after Ashe informed him of the 'circumstantial' and hearsay evidence pointing to the Queen's involvement in the 'Blood Veil' plague and the Red Mantis plot. It failed spectacularly even though Marcus managed to shoot the Queen with a mortal shot to the head with his heavy Crossbow... to which the Queen pulled the bolt from her head and picking up Endrin by the throat rammed the bolt between his own eyes killing him instantly.

Witnessing Endrin's spectacular failure the JUSTICARS learned from Field Marshal Cressida Kroft that Vencarlo Orsini had told Kroft he might have some clues as to the Queen's new found immortality... but he went missing when the Queen ordered the Old Korvosa isle quarantined 'to keep the plague victims - from rioting across the city'... declaring marshal law in response to the assassination attempt. Kroft believe Orisini knows what is giving the Queen her immortality and perhaps some understanding into the why of the Queen's mad schemes... so she sent the JUSTICARS into old Korvosa to find the duelist master - Orisini, with the warning that the JUSTICARS need to make plans to leave Korvosa soon; as the Queen certainly knows ... if she is behind all these plots~ that the JUSTICARS are on to her and will soon begin targeting us from ruining her mad schemes anymore.

It turns out Orsini had perhaps found out where the Seneschal Neolandis Kalepopolis has vanished to and that the Queen's power might have something to do with an evil artifact Neolandis believes the Queen has in her possession. Clues at his fighting school in old korvosa indicated th elast person he met with was a little known eclectic artist knonw as 'Salvatore Scream'.

A chance meeting at Salvatore's home with a Laori Vause... a high priestess of ZON-KUTHON informed the JUSTICARS that an artifact possible being the 'Fangs of Kazavon'... which might be part of the Queen's new crown was depicted in one of Salvatore's paintings. Laori tells the JUSTICARS that Kazavon was an ancient General and favored of ZON-KUTHON.. a Great Wyrm Blue Dragon known for his cruelty and depravity in the service of ZON-KUTHON... centuries ago who was eventually defeated. It is possible the spirit of Kazavon is somehow controlling and possessing the young Queen Ileosa. Laori was lead to this by rumors of a handful of artists in Korvosa who seemed to have visions depicted in their art of omens holy to ZON-KUTHON that might indicate the resurfacing of artifacts holy to the church of the Midnight Lord. One such artist 'Salvator Scream' was the only one of them who had not committed suicide yet... he was the person Orisini had made contact with who knew where Neolandis was. Laori was seeking the painter as well to learn the source of his artistic inspiration.

The Justicar's rescued Salvatore from the 'self-styled' Emperor of Old Korvosa, an ex-theatre manager of the Macrabre, a scum-bag called Plit's Swastel. Salvatore revealed that yes, Neolandis made contact with him months ago.. half-dead being pursued by Red Mantis Assassins who he claimed the Queen had sent after him when he discovered some wicked plots she was involved with conscerning some artifact she had discovered and a plan to kill King Eodred. Neolandis needed to lay low to figure out who he could trust and who could ptrotect him from the Assassins.. Salvatore suggested House Arkona whom he had the favor of as they seemed to have a 'dark fascination' with his artistic talent. Salvator took him to the House Arkona for protection and never heard from him again, figuring the Seneschal was in good hands.. when the plague broke out. About a week ago Orisini came to Salvatore seeking Neolandis as he had been asked to find him by Cressida Kroft in light of what the JUSTICARS had uncovered int he 'Blood Veil ' plot.. only the Seneschal could remove the Queen from her office.

Salvatore told where he had taken the Seneschal for safety and Orisini went to House Arkona to find out what was the Sensechal's fate. Orisini has not been seen since.

So...

The party assaulted House Arkona's Palace {convieneantly... on Old Korvosa Isle}.. and found out the dark secret that House Arkona is actually completely overrun by Rakshasa... possing as the Noble House!

The JUSTICARS confronted ’Lord’ Golario Arkona learning he was also a Rakshasa and head of the criminal activity all over Korvosa... and beyond. Golario reveled that indeed both Neolandis and Orisini came to house Arkona and they were still here.. but his sister Vimanda Arkona {also a Rakshasa... and sometime lover} had sent them both into the dungeons of the House Arkona a trap-filled maze called the 'Vivified Labyrinth' a place where they not only test their criminal thieves' skills that work for the House, but also a torture chamber for pioneers that they wish to keep out of the way.. or for entertainment.

Golario, fed a story that his sister Vimanda was ploting things he had no knowledge of and he no longer trusted her.. and wanted her eliminated. He offered to tell the JUSTICARS how to enter the Vivified Labyrinth and allow them to take both Orisini and Neolandis if they would kill her.

Ashericke only agreed to NOT kill Golario then and there as time was of the need and the information that both Neolandis and Orisini had was more important than wasting time trying to figure out the way in on their own, but warned Galario should they meet again.. Ashe would not hesitate to END him!

So the JUSTICARS are currently int he Vivfied Labyrinth seeking Neolandis and Orisini... trying to avoid the many traps and magical threats. We just discovered another infiltrator of the Dungeon.. a wizard - Edmund Gwenn, Seeking his son who went missing at a Arkona Gala.

We could just as well find your new character within for their own various reasons.. but I'll leave that with you to decide. I'd rather you be able to play immediately rather than wait for us to exit... we are not at a good point to find new characters any other way then prisoners of the Arkona or infiltrators themselves.

ALL characters are among "others being considered"... but those with ties 'theme-wise' to the cultures and City of Korvosa are slightly better suited and easier for the DM to write in... so they are given a little more weight in the considerations.

After all..we can't, much as we might like, let everyone in and clearly you ALL have very creative and valid designs.. we are just pondering the best and most appropriate for the storyline as it exists.

I can assure you this we have NOT summarily dismissed ANY character at all! :)


What point buy are we using?

HP rolled or how is that determined?


Standard 20pts for stats, you may roll hit points if you feel the need.. but I always just take the pathfinder organized play average for hit points. I do that for all the Pathfinder games I play.

All of the information should be in the profile. The very quick summary version is :

Garridan is a wanderer who was born and raised in Korvosa and still calls it home despite spending less than half his time there.

He is of 3/4 Varisian descent and 1/4 Shoanti descent and, although he has never been to the Shoanti homelands, he honors his Shoanti heritage and is really interested in meeting them.

He is a devout follower of Desna. Of extremely fierce appearance he is actually a kind, gentle man,

He is a very good scout in the wilderness and underground.

Mechanically, Human L3 Ranger/L3 Slayer/L3 HorizonWalker.


This is Sonya's character. Stats are done, I'll be posting a background later.

The short of it though, Akina is a Korvosa native and Pharasma devout who gave her life to the church. She was trained to expertly infiltrate trap laid dungeons and tombs to lay undead to a proper rest. Seeing the queen of Korvosa dabbling in immortality, Akina wishes to return her to her mortal life as Pharasma set out for her.

I'd like to ask a very basic question.

How do you create a character profile without assigning it a PFS faction?

The only way to create the profile that I've found is to create a PFS character and that insists on my choosing a PFS faction before it will let me pick an avatar


Go to My Account at the top, and then on the left side, click Create Messageboard Alias. Make a name and choose an avatar. Don't select anything on the PFS factions and submit changes.
