Female Depemds on the game system (human in the real world)

As you make your way through the streets, quieter now as you reach more upmarket areas, you notice that there are plenty of armed men around but few others even in places that would normally be bustling.

A solitary figure walks down the street in the opposite direction.

"Hey," shouts Amin. "What are you doing out at this hour? It's not safe... these good people are escorting me home. Do you want to come? There's a riot down by where you were lodging... if you're still there. Never can keep track."

male Human (Chelaxian ancestors) Bard 2

The young, dark-haired, thin fellow trudges his way through the puddled streets, apparently oblivious to the chaos that has overtaken the city. His well-made, but nearing thread-bare courtier's clothing are wet and besmudged a bit with what might be the remnants of over-ripe fruit. His handsome face is somewhat marred by severe bruising around his left eye. He sighs deeply and mutters to himself as he steps around another puddle. Any near enough to him might hear his out-loud musings, "Oye, that's another patron lost ... and me once again with barely a copper to my name ... ahh, he was an ill-mannered cultureless cretin, anyway ... how he came to have such a charming wife, Desna knows ..." His steps and musings halt for a moment and a crooked grin tilts his full, almost feminine mouth. His happy memories do not last long though, as his mouth then curls in a frown and he reaches up to gingerly touch his blackened eye. "Hmmmpph ... not sure why he was so angry with me ... t'was she who seduced me ..."

The man's gloomy reverie is fortunately interrupted by a shout ...

The lone man's face comes up as he hears the shout. His deep blue eyes glance around the street and he realizes the voice is directed towards him. His frown drops away as he recognizes Amin Jalento, a young noble man of good tastes, and even more importantly, a not inconsiderable allowance.

"Ahh, young Lord Jalento! Calistria smiles upon her humble servant and allows my path to cross yours! My gratitude to you extends to the depths of the deepest western sea for such a kind offer! I will indeed accompany you ... and your ... fine companions!" The man pauses briefly and mumbles to himself, "Most especially since my harpy of a land-lady is awaiting the rent once again ... and Desna knows I do not have the ready coin to appease her greedy hands." The bright blue eyes and dazzling smile once again fix upon Amin Jalento and his new companions, "So, who are you fine folk? I am Cresston Kroft, vocalist and entertainer extraordinaire! It's Cayden's luck itself that my path should cross such a clearly ... illustrious ... group of individuals! What brings you to my ... our city?"

Edit: for tense agreement

Una raises a cool eyebrow at the.... entertainer.

"Born and raised." She says simply.

"Here, do something useful and carry this. I'm better with a crossbow than this dagger." She tries to hand the fly-ridden hatbox to Cresston, assuming that he will be joining them.

Risdin smiles at the lively man,"Creston Kroft you say? Well, it is certainly a pleasure to meet you at this hellish hour. I am Risdin Arramack.", he tilts his head towards the party,"and these guys...well I will let them introduce themselves, since I have shared more swordplay with them than words"

Cresston's right hand shoots out quickly to (attempt?) to grasp Risdin's. If his proferred mitt is taken, he pumps Risdin's hand rapidly, albeit with a grip that the paladin of Abadar finds none-too-strong. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Master Arramack! And, please, just Cresston ... my last name is of little matter to such fine folk as yourselves."

Una draws back the hatbox, rolling her eyes at the social necessities.

"Una Therlmagne, of the Mercenary Core. Now, when we can get to a safer place, I'm sure we'll have more to talk about."

Una allows her cold demeanor to demonstrate her impatience.

I have no idea what the DC would be - 15 maybe?. The name "Shakhan" would've been well known in the underbelly of society - and nobility with a penchant for betting on illegal cage fights - 2 years ago. Most that would know of him would believe him to be dead. So knowing about Shakhan would be a lower DC than knowing that he's still alive.

"Let's not hang around for too long; there's no telling what will happen in Korvosa tonight. I would be glad for a roof and rest." Thick dark congealed blood along Shakhan's leg emphasizes his urge to move on.

Cresston's deep blue eyes rove over the rest of the group, then return to the lithe figure of the crossbowwoman. His eyes dart down to the welcome sight of ample cleavage that is so advantageously displayed by her black leather outfit.

Una allows her cold demeanor to demonstrate her impatience.

Cresston's eyes snap up and a slightly guilty expression darts across his face as her commanding tone arrests his attention. He smiles tentatively at her until he notes the odor coming from the box she is holding out and the insectiod satellites it seems to have attracted. He half-grimaces, seems to vascillate for a moment, then says, "Ummm ...sure, of course I will endeavor to provide timely assistance." He then reaches forward to take the box from her hands. He gags slightly, then proceeds to hold the box as far away from his face as he can and echoes Una's sentiments by saying, "Yes ...*cough* ... we should proceed with utmost haste ... so that Lord Amin can assure his family of his safety." The itinerant minstral's rueful glance at the box he is now burdened with leaves no doubt that the safety of the young scion of House Jalento is not the foremost reason for his new found urgent desire to reach the group's next destination.

I rolled terribad on the knowledge local, so even though Cresston includes gambling amongst the many vices he enjoys, he may not have seen Shakhan battle with his fists ... or he may have been too much under the influence of foreign substances and/or questionable female company to have properly stored the event in his head. :-)

You've been having a good natter whilst I was asleep! Given that Shakhan was a well-known cage fighter in his day, even that fairly mediocre roll is sufficient for Master Kroft to know that he WAS a famous cage-fighter, but not much more than that. Even if he enjoys gambling, it may not have been a favoured sport - perhaps he preferred cards or horse racing or the lottery?

Moving on or standing chatting in the middle of the street?

Shakhan moves off - pushing Amin, and in passing Cresston, along. "Let's move. This is not the time or place for chatter."

I think Una and Shakhan had thoroughly succeeded in intimidating Cresston so that the group once again has started moving along towards the destination. Nattering is now taking place as we make our way to Cliffside. At least that's what I got out of it. Of course, if someone decides to use physical violence to stop Cresston from yapping away, it may slow their progress a bit! ;-p

As the group makes it's way though the streets of the great Varisian city, the thin, dark-haired minstrel continues to talk away at poor Hytogg, seemingly oblivious to his victim's aggravation.

Having rid herself of the hatbox, at least momentarily, Una sheathes her longsword and draws her crossbow, loading it before moving along with the others.

Risdin pauses a bit to process his first impression of Cresston, then falls in behind the group.

When you all eventually reach Jalento's family home, dawn is not far off, but the only person awake is a night watchman, who recognises the young noble and opens the gate.

"Won't you come in?" asks Jalento. "I owe you at least some breakfast as recompense for being good enough to escort me home safely."

He leads you into a quite substantial mansion, yelling for servants to light fires and prepare food for his guests. You're ushered into a large guest chamber and shown where you can refresh yourselves before he excuses himself, saying that he will change and inform his father about your kindness before returning with breakfast.

Finally having a chance to sit down and take stock; Shakhan takes the time for refreshment to strip down his armor and most of his clothes to get a good look at his wounds. He gets one of the servant girls to bring him some hot water and salt, then cleans out the wound and rubs a bit salt on it afterward.

She offers to do your back, quite awestruck at having the Shakhan in the house. Apparently her father was quite the fight-fan and was always talking about some of your matches!

Somewhat gruffly Shakhan accepts. "I did not realize there were still fans out there. My hatred for Lamm must have blinded me to it. Thank you."

Human Crossbow Weapon Master 4 / Sniper Rogue 2 / Hunter 2

Even though she was not wounded, Una also asks for hot water to take a bath. Before she leaves though, she whispers to Hytogg.

"I believe Lord Jalento's father is an accomplished jeweler. You might show him some of the jewelry we found and see if anything catches his interest."

Risdin doesn't feel comfortable accepting food from somebody he doesn't know and only pecks at his food. The night has been a long one, so he finds a place to sit down outside.

"What a strange city this is...", he says to himself. "Very..very strange..."

Amadeus Jalento bows his head in acknowledgement of your courtly behaviour.

"Sir, you seem familiar - are you not the minstrel Cresston Kroft? My house is honoured indeed! But let us not stand on ceremony. Be seated... As for Amin, he spends more time at parties than in the practice yard - or at any other pursuit that might fit him for whatever future he sees for himself! You are most kind to credit him with swordsmanship greater than he has yet achieved."

(Amin is making a sort of spluttering sound and has gone rather pink...)

"Still, neither he nor I thought that such disaster would befall our city, or it descend into disorder so speedily. If I can prevail on your good offices - for which, of course, I shall arrange suitable recompense - might I request an escort to my business later today? Instead he smiles once again and says, "I cannot speak for my fine companions availability, but I certainly can speak to their capability! You might have noted we count among our number the reknowned pugilist, Shakhan, as well as the extremely cabaple and lovely, Una Therlamagne! The fine group is bless also with the talents of the mysterious arcanist, Hytogg the Magnificent! Not to mention the reliable sword arm of the handsome Risdin Arramack!"

Cresston pauses to take a breath, thus narrowly avoiding breaking into song about the feats and capabilities of his newly adopted companions. "Ahh, but I digress. Again, I cannot speak for these fine folk, but as to myself, it would be a singular honor to accompany you to your place or places of business!"

Human Crossbow Weapon Master 4 / Sniper Rogue 2 / Hunter 2

Una raises an eyebrow at being called lovely, but says nothing in response.

"Before our journey, Lord Jalento, I wonder if you would take a look at some of these jewelry pieces we have recently found. I believe many of them may be worth quite a bit of money, the designs are flawless. You may recognize the designer."

She motions towards Hytogg to bring them forward.

"Oh, yes. I had almost forgotten. Is there any sacred ground nearby? A rather unfortunate device requires holy attention."

Shakhan catches Cresston's hint and although he does not feel particularly inclined to bow to nobility, he does get up to stand to attention. Though his face is hard pressed to come to terms with Cresston's swiftness of tongue. What is this? A wannabe fop? Or is this man genuinely important?

When he feels there is a moment and the situation calls for it, Shakhan nods to Lord Amadeus, his face as serious as ever, "In spite of what Mr Kroft says, I've retired from the - uhm - sport. I am a mercenary now; and I accept your request."

Is not easy, each time after preparing the post I change it again, to dumb down Shakhan's language a little bit.

"Ah, yes - I believe I saw you fight once or twice, although I confess the sport is not one I follow. Mistress Therlmagne, do you require a location sacred to a particular faith? I'm sure that there are a few shrines in the neighbourhood, my cook is a religious woman and ought to be able to tell you more. And if you have any items you wish me to examine, of course I shall. Either here or at my store. I have but a loupe here, more specialised examination would have to wait."

Amadeus sits down and produces a loupe from a belt pouch, spreading a piece of soft leather on the table in front of him.

Shakhan grunts: "Any shadow on your name can now be cleared. Lamm is well and truly brought to justice - ", here Shakhan absentmindedly motions to his axe, "we will return that thing to the queen."

Risdin clears his throat and says, "Amadeus, in what wares do you trade? We have some items that are burning a hole in my back. I'm sure nobody here would be against trading them for the betterment of the group. Should we wait until we have reached your store?"

Cresston's nose wrinkles as the fly-ridden box is produced and shown to Lord Jalento's cook. His repulsion wars with his curiosity for a while ... the former finally losing out to the latter as the minstrel overcomes his squeamishness. He turns to Hytogg and Una and coughs. "Might I have a look inside the box? I have a bit of knowledge regarding local lore and might have an idea of who might be the best to deal with a cursed object."
