Woot! I finally get to play an Alchemist! And a Gnome! So many firsts :) I am very happy to get to play in this green dungeon.
Ravena Goldlust |
Ravena is a lovely young girl who worships Sheylyn and fell off the bicycle on the way to the fort becoming a bandit and healing for bandits. She has decided to leave their company and travel into the fort to look for a steady meal and better work.
Hagrin |
Hagrin now has an updated profile ;)
The half orc is light on his feet, but still muscular - his clothing and leather armor are worn enough, and clearly dusty from travelling and perhaps more than one scuffle - multiple daggers hang from a bandoleer across his chest, and a sling is casually tied at his waist. The backpack looks heavy, but the multiple straps seem to keep it firmly in place.
He seems to wear a constant sneer.
Nisany Blim |
Nisany Blim is a short female Gnome with vibrant leaf green hair filled with strands of beads, bits of metal, little shells, and twisting braids. Her hunter green eyes are wide and inquisitive. Pale pinkish skin has thin lines of green swirling around on her face, down her neck, and along the visible parts of her arms. It is safe to assume that these lines travel her whole form. The tips of her fingers are stained black.
She has a pair of scuffed and singed leather boot on her feet. Her legs are wrapped in leather breeches and she has a multi colored scarf tied at her waist that hangs like a short skirt. A dark red vest hangs open over a blue peasant shirt. And two empty bandoleers cross her chest. Well used brown leather finger-less gloves cover her hands and she has a few bracelets around each wrist. A tattered travel stained grey cloak hangs from her shoulders and a equally tatter backpack that is nearly bursting at the seams sits next to her.
She is completely happy to babble at anyone who will listen and the subject could be anything really. Overly chipper, very energetic, and kind of nosy are traits that can be easily applied to her after just a few minuets of speaking to her.

Sorry for the delayed response - I just got home after two months in training, and the wife and daughter are keeping me busy.
Mikiel will get a good introduction sometime tomorrow, I hope. Until then, I am still interested in playing, so don't count me out!
Haven't counted anyone out yet.
Normally I would do a "major" post once a day, but in this case I'll wait until everyone gets a chance to respond.

DarkOne do not assume that Nisany would be uninterested! Hours could easily be spent explaining the ley lines and discussing them.

Unless your PC has a deep and abiding interest in ley lines, it is unlikely you will find much interest in the discussion with my low-Charisma druid. That said, he could just be misinterpreting your responses to the topic. I will let you all decide that...
That said, Mikiel Brown is a Menhir Savant Druid with a bear animal companion ("Greel"). mechanically he is prepared to enter melee or summon allies, adjusting his tactics as necessary for an encounter.
Reactionary - Being a young man with such an esoteric focus led to many years of Mikiel being harassed and abused by others. It wasn't until he set out on his own and discovered his bear companion, Greel, that people began to leave him alone more often than bully him. By this time he had learned to keep his ears and eyes open for threats, giving him a jumpy tendency that has helped him avoid trouble more often than not.
A Varisian by birth, Mikiel received his early training from a wandering druid. When the old man inevitably left him he engaged in the local traditions of magical tattoos and used the power to begin learning how to manipulate druidic magic. This led to his fascination with ley lines.
When he learned about the Emerald Spire his imagination exploded with ideas. What if the spire were a confluence of ley lines, reaching up into the heavens with massive amounts of natural, magical power? He decided he must travel there and study the spire for himself, leaving his family without preamble.
Along the way he meet his traveling companion, Greel, and together they have roughed it the many, many days as he traveled to Fort Inevitable and the fabled Emerald Spire.

Waiting on the GM but I am totally ready to get going. Pathfinders are always ready for adventure!

I feel the need to share this series. Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?
Antonian Caravas |
I met my first three wives in a dungeon!
They weren't much to look at, you understand, but by Gorum! They were rare ones when I needed to corner an owlbear!
Nisany Blim |
It happens.
In that time would everyone like to go into some of our travels together on the way here? So we know a little more about each other?
Nisany Blim |
That is much better. Below your image on Mikiels page there is a profile button. Clicking on that will let you make your profile. Which is where you put your character sheet. You can look at any of our groups profile for an idea of what it should look like.

Aw, man! I hope this game doesn't disappear. It would be the third time I've attempted Emerald Spire without getting past the 1st room.
Antonian Caravas |
My computer has died. I'm now stuck with only an iPad. I'll try to keep up while dealing with the computer. Please play through as necessary.
Antonian Caravas |
Sooo...
I can read the writing on the wall when I am repeatedly struck over the head with the wall. I am never, ever, going to get to play Emerald Spire.
So I'm going to run it.
After PFS Game Day V, I'll be recruiting for the Spire. Be sure to keep a look out.
Nisany Blim |
Please send me a message when you do! I would still really like to play it and let my little alchemist live. Please!
Antonian Caravas |
So let me ask you a question: what about The Emerald Spire in particular attracts or makes you want to take part in a long, long story set in one dungeon? I know my answer, but I want to hear yours.
Nisany Blim |
Well one reason is that i am no likely to ever get to play it in a live game. It is just not on the roster for my group. The table I play at and most of the pbp I am in actually have remarkably few dungeon crawls. It is simply not something I am familiar with. In the five years I have been playing I have been in only a few of them.
This is also not a common way of playing and I like weird things. There is also the factor that you seems so interested in this module. An invested GM is a GM more likely to finish the game and to make the game interesting.
I will admit the anime Is it Wrong to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon has a bit of influence in being interested in this module.
A module like this seems very combat heavy, which is really slow in pbp, so it falls on the players to develop relationships and make it funny. Though the GM is also liable for that. And I am ok with that. Plus as far as I am aware this all takes play in that town and the spire so we, as players, will really get to know the setting. This is something that does not happen in most campaigns since traveling is usually a big thing. That idea appeals to me greatly.

The reason I'm asking is that Emerald Spire is -a- super dungeon but not the only one. I'm also considering Monte Cook's amazing "The Banewarrens."
The Emerald Spire has many levels, but isn't really that big. In order to keep you leveling up, it uses Fast XP -and- lots of XP for just finishing various tasks and levels. It seems like it could be fun, and I'm attracted to doing something I haven't done before, but I'm also attracted to doing something I know is really good.
The Banewarrens is huge, but takes you from 6th to 10th and is set in Cook's Ptolus setting, not Golarion. It's written for 3e, but that not really an issue. The first time I ran it, I converted it from 3e to Arcana Evolved, so conversion to Pathfinder is comparatively trivial.
So I'm sure I'm going to run a super dungeon; I'm just not sure which one.
It's interesting that you say it's not a usual way to play. It's not anymore, but was once upon a time. I've been GMing since the late 1970's and it was frequently about big dungeon delves back then.
