Brandark Plainswalker |
Brandark looks at her "Lass, wait up here, this shouldn't take to long."
His vision swims and the colours blur into black and white as he decends into the dark basement.
switching to darkvision
GM Mazra |
The basement is crowded with barrels and boxes. Plenty of places for a rat to hide. There is some light from small windows on both the front and back walls near the ceiling, so it is not pitch by any means. On the backside of the basement not too far from one of these windows is small cot or bed. As you are busy looking around, the Lass moves quickly down the stairs and stands beside the small cot.
Brandark Plainswalker |
I thought I told her to stay up top
I wonder if all human women are as forward as her
I not only have seen the series, I own it on DVD, so I got the reference. Man you just made me want to rewatch it.
GM Mazra |
Brandark Plainswalker |
With a start, Brandark turns to face the man. "Sir, this is not what it looks like. He then starts to walk up the stairs "She said that there may have been something the size of a goblin in the cellar. As for her dressing state, I had nothing to do with that."
Trying to calm him down. Dice don't fail me now
diplo: 1d20 ⇒ 16
I am expecting him to take a swing, but hoping that he doesn't
Kelvin Fleetwood |
smiles back at Kelvin, "Isn't there anything else I can get you. Glass of Wine, perhaps."
"Thank you for the offer Ma'am" he replies, "but I have some errands to do. Perhaps this evening at the meal" and he quickly makes his exit.
Heading to the square where the New Cathedral is, he enters the Jeweler's place, "is the proprietor in?"
GM Mazra |
The fact that Brandark was heading up the stairs still in his armor as Shayliss' father looked down is working a little in your favor. A really good Diplomacy roll for someone that is not good at that, didn't hurt either.
GM Mazra |
Heading to the square where the New Cathedral is, he enters the Jeweler's place, "is the proprietor in?"
It is a squat stone building on the Northwest corner of the square. The stones on the East side of the building shows evidence of charring from a fire.
"Yes. Yes, come in. Ooh, it is one of the Heroes. How can I help you?", a middle aged human with wild hair addresses Kelvin.
Brandark Plainswalker |
"Sir, she said that there was something the size of a goblin. Not that there was a goblin.
So she asked me to do something about it and when I came down to look around to find this thing,
Your daughter decided to follow me down even when I told her not to.
As I was trying to leave, you showed up.
In regards to her state of dress, you should take that up with her.
I don't do things like he thinks happens, on the first meet. After about 3-4 meets, that might happen, but not the first one.
Brandark, is still a little wary about the very upset father, but is making no threatening moves, and is trying to defuse the situation.
I figured that it wouldn't hurt to attempt it. Right now, I would be considered AC 17. No Sheild equipped.
Brandark Plainswalker |
"Sir, the main reason that I had originally come here, was to spend some of my gold for some of your wares."
Brandark looks over "I apologize for the misunderstanding, and I hope that it doesn't happen again."
I think we are at a point that we don't need to spoiler it
GM Mazra |
"We found some items on the goblins, and need them appraised. Can you do that for us?" Kelvin gets out the bracelet and pearls and shows them to the jeweler.
Yes. Yes, of course. And for the Heroes of Sandpoint there is no charge," on both sides of the room are two large Humans, they give each other a surprised glance. "I am Maver Kesk," the middle aged Human continues. "The very small pearl is about 6GP. The slightly larger one is about 30GP. The largest one is a good standard size. It is prized for necklaces. It is worth about 50GP. The Coral Bracelet is interesting. Normally such bracelets can be a trifle, and go for around 5 to 10GP. But this one maybe very old, ancient even. I would give 50GP for it. Do you care to sell them?"
GM Mazra |

I agree. And with your permission, I would not mind others reading through the episode too. That would depend on whether your character would agree to communicating the sordid details. :)
"If I ever see you alone with my daughter again, I will hurt you. I promise. Now what is it that you need?", the man is at least not beating up on Brandark. And though not a trained warrior, this man is big, and looks like he could take care of himself and some other too.
Kelvin Fleetwood |
"Thank you for the appraisal Maver. I am keeping the bracelet for myself, however I believe that the pearls may be for sale. I will need to clear that with the others. I will be back tomorrow and let you know of our decision."
Kelvin puts the bracelet and pearls back into his pouch and heads off into the woods just outside of town, and finds an easy tree to climb and sits up in the branches and meditates for most of the afternoon while enjoying the sunshine and the sounds of the woods. When it becomes late enough to have dinner, he heads back to Ameiko Inn and when the others show up for dinner, he tells them. "The pearls are worth 6, 30 and 50gp. The bracelet, which I wish to keep is also worth 50gp. The jeweler, Maver Kesk, will buy the pearls if we wish to sell them. What are your wishes?"
Brandark Plainswalker |
Brandark looks over "Sir, you can be sure that is the furthest thing on my mind, and I understand.
As for what I would like, may I look around your shop?"
he indicates the sack in hand.
"Would you be willing to take a couple of items off my hands first,
I will then drop off items on your counter that I intend to purchase.
I assure you, you will not lose on this."
I don't have an issue about that. I would be asking about the forward women when I got back to the party anyways. :)
Brandark Plainswalker |
Brandark wanders around the store, placing many items on the counter.
did you want me to put bring a whole list, or just update the gear on my alias? As I have a lot of stuff that I was looking at.
Brandark Plainswalker |
After putting a large amount of items on the counter, and then wincing at the hefty mark up "Sir, my companions may also come here. I will advise them to stay away from your daughter"
Brandark then places his purchases into a couple of sacks, and then proceeds back to the Inn.
Will update my computer version, then update the one online with the gear.
Will also break down the dungeoneering kit, and cavaliers kit, so you know exactly what is in it without having to search.
Also, with that picture of his daughter, it was probably worth it. :)
Proprietor Kaijitsu |
That night at the Rusty Tavern, Ameiko prepared the Wild Hog in splendid fashion, with sliced apples and spices cooked into the meat. Though a tad tough, it had a good flavor.
The wine and the ales flowed freely. A good time was had by all.
Aldern Foxglove was curiously missing from the dinner.
End of Day Three
GM Mazra |
Day Four
Brathana is up early preparing a huge plate of bacon for the morning breakfast.
At breakfast a young man approaches Elektra and hands her a note.
The party is free to wander Sandpoint this day.
Elektra Stardancer |
The evening before
Stacking her new scroll Elektra joins the great celebration, enjoying some very choice peaces of the warthog."My compliments to the chef, this is as masterful as the songs we heard."
Cleaning the corners of her mouth with a napkin, Elektra quickly scans the note. "It seems we have another celebration coming. I think it is time to ask the mayor and the sheriff if they have other problems we could solve. They have enough to do to clean after the raid. And I for myself, know that I am not the sure I deserve that glory."
Garrath Tricks the Giants |
Garrath grins up at Mayor Deverin, Ameiko (if she's there) and Brathana around a bite of bacon, "If Ameiko and Brathana keep cooking, I may never leave!" He casts a curious glance at the girls as Brathana shoos them away, and shrugs, going back to his breakfast.
He casts a mischievous glance up to where Kelvin would likely join them from, and winks at Brathana, "Oh, and make sure Kelvin gets extra. Apparently some of the townsfolk think he's skin and bones and needs to put some meat on him."
He starts to wipe his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt, but sees Elektra wiping her mouth with a napkin and stops, reaching for his own, and uses the napkin with a small nod towards the elven woman, almost as if he's asking if he's using it right.
Brandark Plainswalker |
Brandark comes back in the inn after checking on his horse, and see's Garrath and Elektra and comes over.
"Brathana, may I get a plate please."
Waits for the plate of breakfast to arrive along with everyone else.
Then looks over at the others.
"I have been asked to tell the men of this group, to stay away from the shopkeepers daughter" He muses "She is very attractive by human standards but I think she is trying to get some one killed"
He then goes into a description of what happened, and then asks
"Lady Lyr, is this normal behaviour for human women who want a man?"
Night before.
"Kelvin, my vote is that you sell the pearls, and let everyone have some of the money from them."
Sorry kelvin, missed the pearl selling question in the mass of the shopkeepers daughter postings
After breakfast, Brandark wanders around town, stopping at the cathedral and listening to townsfolk.
Troubador Drokkus |
During Lyr's wanderings, she is stopped by Cyrdak Drokkus. He approaches and bows, swooping his larger feathered cap in a long graceful arc in front of him, "Dear lady, I am Cyrdak Drokkus, the owner of the Sandpoint Theater. I am currently writing a little play about the Goblin attack on Sandpoint. I am writing it as a comedy, with various pyrotechnics for effects." The man snickers and continues, "I would be honored if you would take the lead in the play. We would fill the house."
Kelvin Fleetwood |
Kelvin walks down from the room, and hearing Garrath remark he looks to Brathana, "a triple helping for my friend Garrath here. He seems to burn through anything he eats. As for me, a simple portion will do."
First thing Kelvin does after breakfast is head to the Jeweler Shop and sell the pearls for the quoted prices. He then heads to the Sheriff and asks him if he knows where the goblin tribe that attacked the town holes up.
During the rest of the day, he walks around town, looking at any large person who may be of Ulfen descent and tries to figure out who they are and why they are in town. He also takes a walk outside the town walls, leaving from the north gate and working his way east and re-entering at the south bridge. While he walks around the outside, he pays special attention to avenues of approach where goblins could make their way towards the town.
GM Mazra |
Mayor Deverin was not actually at the Rusty Dragon this morning. The party would need to go and see her at the Town Hall and then go over to the Garrison to see Sheriff Hemlock.
Anytime Garrath is wandering the streets, he is followed by a throng of teenage girls that manage to keep a respectable distant. They all cannot keep their eyes off of him.
Later in the day, the throng of girls has an addition. Another girl, more like young woman, nearly a head taller, is with them. Her once wild mane of red hair is now tied up in a bun. The slinky dress is now replaced by a more buttoned up formal dress with bodice laced up tight. She is wearing leggings and shoes. It even looks like she has pantaloons and maybe other clothing on underneath. And her gaze is not on Garrath. She keeps her eyes on Brandark. It is Shayliss. Brandark does a double take.
Good Sheriff Hemlock |
He then heads to the Sheriff and asks him if he knows where the goblin tribe that attacked the town holes up.
"We have scouts out now. I hope to hear back from them soon. And as soon as I know anything more, I will let you know," the Sheriff seems sincerely pleased at your interest. He too wants to take the fight to them. However, he knows that his numbers are too small to foray out in force and protect the town.
Brandark Plainswalker |
Brandark does a quick glance at the women following Garrath. "Looks like you are developing a following."
then glances again "Except I think she has eyes only for me. Where is the father. I know he has to be around here somewhere.
What offer ? was it in the note handed to Elektra?
Kelvin Fleetwood |
"We have scouts out now. I hope to hear back from them soon. And as soon as I know anything more, I will let you know," the Sheriff seems sincerely pleased at your interest. He too wants to take the fight to them. However, he knows that his numbers are too small to foray out in force and protect the town.
"Good. While I am not a follower of any god, it is just wrong for a holy man to be dug up like that. The dead deserve respect." Kelvin thinks to himself, 'I may not have been able to bury Jharym, but I will try to find the remains of this cleric and return him.'
edit: If Elektra shares the contents of the note, Kelvin will groan to himself and attend if the others decide to.
Brandark Plainswalker |
When Brandark reaches the Cathedral Father, is there anything I might be able to help with.
I probably missed her mentioning it. More likely from the gales of laughter by Garrath, in the retelling of the shopkeepers daughter.
Garrath Tricks the Giants |
He chuckles at Brandark, "Yes, but none so bold as your crimson haired admirer. Nor do any of the others seem to have fathers about that will brain the object of their affections. He turns and waves to the girls, "Good morning!
"Let's have a look about, Brandark, and see if we can tell if there are any more green rodents about, hiding, then off to the Hagfish."
Garrath will try to find out more about the town as well, history and such. He'll also ask at the cathedral if there's any reason someone would want to steal someone's bones. It seems like that's something odd to steal, so they much have a purpose for it.
Proprietor Kaijitsu |
Sometimes hard to post at work. Indeed Elektra shares the invitation and will then ask around town if the town has a wizard, someone she could buy or trade spells
Ameiko would tell you to try the Feathered Serpent. It is where Hook and Rum streets meet not far from the Sandpoint Bridge. The proprietor is a Vorvashali Voon. "He may not be able to trade spells with you, but he does have a good collection of scroll," Ameiko will communicate.
Brandark Plainswalker |
On the way to the cathedral Brandark chuckles
Aye, she was bold, and even more so, now that she is following us.
I could use some work against those green rodents, if nothing else to work out my worry.
The hagfish, what is going on there?
As interesting as this is, I hope that she doesn't do anything more forward than follow right now.
Will follow along to the hagfish, and playing like I missed the invite. Which I did. :)
Padre Zantus |
When Brandark reaches the Cathedral Father, is there anything I might be able to help with.
I probably missed her mentioning it. More likely from the gales of laughter by Garrath, in the retelling of the shopkeepers daughter.
"Thank you for offer, but at this time we are doing well. We could still use another experienced Cleric or two to help with the administration of some of the shrines," Padre Zantus will convey.
GM Mazra |
The reluctant Heroes heads to the Hagfish. At least you are doing what the Mayor requested by making yourselves visisble.
The Hagfish’s proprietor, Jargie Quinn walks up on his peg leg and gives a hearty welcome to the party. The Tavern is very crowded, with many standing. By their clothing, the clientele appears to be mostly Sailors and Dockworkers. Lyr, will notice young Mazra from the Cathedral. He appears to be hard at work on a tankard. Several cards are in his other hand. In fact their are many crowded gambling tables at The Hagfish.
A table, near a large aquarium with a sign above that reads Norah, is reserved for the party. There is a hole in the center of this table with a can underneath. A very busty, her abundance nearly popping out of her bodice, middle aged human female comes up to the table, ”I will be bringing out our Fish Chowder to start, afterwards we have whole boiled Lobsters. What can I get you to drink? We have all manners of ales, wines and spirits.”
Brandark Plainswalker |
Good Lady Brandark says I would like a Dwarven Ale please. as he takes a seat facing the door.
I not to sure of this place, better keep an eye out on my coin purse.
GM Mazra |
Moving game play forward a bit
Patron after patron comes up to pat party members on their back and congratulate them for their successes against the Goblins.
After your meal, Jargie Quinn ask if any party member would want to try and drink from Norah’s tank. It is only a silver piece to make the attempt. Norah is a Hagfish. The water from the tank is foul and putrid. Next to the tank is a very large sack that looks like it contains many coins. ”Anyone that can keep the stuff down, wins the sack of coins. You also get to carve your name on the ceiling beam above the tank. After ten years, there are only 28 names on the beam,” he offers with a devious smile.
This is very foul stuff. It takes a DC 22 Fort Save to keep the stuff down.
Garrath Tricks the Giants |
Garrath laughs at Kelvin's joke, but waves off the attempt "I can eat most anything, but even *I* have my limits. Besides, I would hate to spoil that excellent meal with the taste of that water."
