Round Five Start

Stone risks an attack by the Snake Lucretia, and provides some healing to Garrath. The Snake Lucretia ignores the Cleric.

Caleb steps over the fallen second Red Ogre and goes after the first.

The first Red Ogre swings at Caleb as the Hound Archon approaches. It is unaffected by the Hound's Aura of Menace, but it is equally ineffective at its attack.

Round Five Continued

When Elektra communicates that the Snake Lucrecia is an illusion, the Shoanti Barbarian changes course and goes after the first Red Ogre.

Stepping over the fallen second Red Ogre, Garrath's slice with his Greatsword cuts into the Ogre's hide armor, but does not penetrate to harm the big oaf.

Lucrecia Will Save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31

Lucrecia is unaffected by the Hound Archon's Aura of Menace.

I was surprised by her +14 Will Save too.

Lucrecia smiles at Brandark and Garrath, "Too-da-loo." The red haired woman again disappears.

The first Red Ogre takes a step back and continues to swing its big Greatclub at the Hound Archon. It crushes the Hound Archon with its blow.

Flynn takes a step and fires several arrows toward the first Red Ogre. All stick into the Ogre's Hide Armor, but only one bites into Ogre flesh.

Brandark moves and attacks the first Red Ogre. But the RNG really hates Brandark, and nearly falls on the Ogre blood pooling from the hallway.

Vale shakes his head. He now ignores the Snake Lucrecia and hastily moves against the first Red Ogre, both axes swinging. But neither of his attacks damage the first Red Ogre.

The fatigued barbarian nods his thanks to Stone again, and slashes at the Red Ogre. Moving again after falling seems to have helped him almost catch his breath again. Mazra you are right, Garrath would be fatigued until round 7.

@Elektra - Elektra would need to have Lucrecia in her line of sight in order to cast a readied Magic Missile to disrupt a spell. At Elektra's current position she does not have line of sight to stop Lucrecia's next spell.

As Caleb jumps on the table to get to the first Red Ogre, the monstrosity takes an attack of opportunity. But the Ogre missed the Hound Archon.

A door swings open to the room near the Shoanti Barbarian, and Garrath sees a sight.

Hookmaw and Dorella

The walls of this room are decorated with finely crafted longswords, stuffed animal heads, and a map of the Hook Mountain environs. A large oak table surrounded by several chairs has been smashed to splinters, and an immense bed has similarly been ruined. An open cabinet that once contained several bottles of wine has been crushed as well, and broken bottles and the faint scent of wine lingers around its ruins.

Garrath sees a huge Ogre with a strange metal jaw, and a female Ogre behind him. He also sees Lucrecia near the back of the room.

Lucrecia casts a spell.

The Red Ogre's attack speeds up and attacks again the Hound Archon. He batters your celestial friend. Caleb fades away.

Red Ogre 1st attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 252d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 3) + 10 = 16

As the Hound Archon leaves the battle, the Red Ogre turns its attention to the next in line. But the Red Ogre misses Vale.

Red Ogre Hasted second attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 132d8 + 10 ⇒ (4, 3) + 10 = 17

The large Ogre with the hooked maw, moves to the door and attacks Garrath through the door with a hook weapon. It slices into the Shoanti Barbarian.

The female Ogre appears to cast a spell. A wave of confusion flows through much of the party.

I placed a marker behind Stone. Brandark, Elektra, Flynn, Garrath and Stone must make a DC18 Will Save or become Confused. I have a link with the Confusion Spell, so that anyone that may become confused can roll on the Confusion table. Vale was just out of the radius affect of the spell.

@Elektra - Oops. Forgot the DR. Thanks for that. Caleb is still around. The second Red Ogre attack would have missed Caleb instead. But the main thing is that it is an easy Retcon. Caleb is still around. Recall too, he has a cool Teleport ability.

Round Six

Stone moves up next to Garrath and provides more healing.

Elektra moves into the hallways and readies a spell.

Caleb jumps on the table to get at the Red Ogre. The Red Ogre takes a futile swat at the Hound Archon. Caleb continues to work on the Red Ogre; but clearly Heaven does not provide the Hound Archon opportunities to practice his swordsmanship.

Garrath attacks the Red Ogre. The fatigued Barbarian was unable to pierce through the Ogre's Hide Armor.

The Red Ogre continues to attack the Hound Archon. It does manage to land a blow against Caleb.

As a door to the south flies open, Garrath sees two more Ogres and again the nimble Lucrecia.

Additional note: Lucrecia would have cast her spell just before the door opened. Either way, Elektra would not have line of sight to Lucrecia with her location in the room.

A brutal looking Ogre with a steel jaw hacks into the Shoanti Barbarian. The hooked weapon cuts deep into Garrath.

Garrath took 28 - 3DR in damage.

A really ugly female Ogre in the south room casts a spell.

@Flynn - You can act normally.

@Brandark - In the previous Round, the Red Ogre took a step back prior to Brandark's turn. I would not think that Brandark would have taken another step on the dead Ogre 2 in the hall to get at Red Ogre 1 when there was a clear, just vacated, space in the room. So I moved Brandark to the most logical IMHO space. The travails of play by post versus ftf. I should have noted your additional movement.

With a flurry of blades Brandark attacks the Red Ogre. One of the Dwarf Cavalier's blow cut deep into the Hide Armor. But the Red Ogre just escaped further harm.

Vale works on the Red Ogre. His first main attacks hack into the Ogre. The big brute is bleeding but does not fall.

Please don't forget your saving throw. @Flynn go ahead with Round Six and Seven actions. Red Ogre 1 only has a couple of HPs left. If you can hit an AC21 and do 2 points of damage you will drop Red Ogre 1. Your target in Round Seven can then shift; that is if you are able to act after your Round Seven Confusion roll.

Garrath feels the wave of confusion, but shakes his head a bit as he's always in a somewhat state of confusion around civilization. He growls as the hook slices deep into him. He looks down at the ogre at his feet and lifts its bulk up and wedges it into the doorframe in front of the steeljawed ogre, holding it in place until the red ogre is dealt with.

If the Red Ogre does not fall in Round Six by Flynn's actions, or by the Hound Archon in Round Seven:

The Red Ogre continues to attack the Hound Archon; but is frantic and unable to land an effective blow.

The steel jawed Ogre resists Stone's Hold attempt. But it becomes blinded by Elektra's Glitterdust. It yells out and begins to rub its eyes.

The ugly female Ogre blinked at the right time, and was not affected by the Glitterdust.

The Ogre sorceress tries to Dispel the Glitterdust and is successful in doing so.

Ogre Sorceress Dispel attempt needs a 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Lucretia was unaffected by the Glitterdust, and cast another spell, but the party does not see it.

Seeing the Red Ogre Fall, Caleb takes a step back on the conference table. He peers through the south door and sees the enemies within. He disappears from off the table, then reappears behind Lucrecia.

(I took the liberty to play Caleb's actions in Round Seven.)

With enemies both south and to the east, Garrath grabs the dead second Red Ogre to block the south door. Then seeing the first Red Ogre fall, he tosses the second Red Ogre out of the way.

(To move things along, I am taking a number of liberties with the Round Seven actions.)

Round Nine

After Elektra, Brandark, and Stone himself were singed by a Lightning Bolt, the Cleric asked for and received healing energies that flowed through the party.

Elektra sends a pair of Scorching Rays toward Dorella Kreeg. The first hit the ugly female Ogre, the second whizzed past her head and embedded into the wall behind.

Garrath moves over Hookmaw to get the ugly female Ogre. Without a weapon in its hand, it was unable to take a strike at the Shoanti Barbarian. Garrath slices into Ms. Ugly.

Ms. Ugly howls, steps back preparing its next spell and cast another Lightning Bolt hitting Vale, Brandark, and Stone. Brandark was able to use the corpse of Hookmaw to deflect some of the electrical energies.

Still need Saving Throws from Elektra and Stone.

Lucrecia takes a step next to Dorella and begins to attack Vale. Her first strike sliced deep into the Black Arrow's bowels. The second also cut into Vale's torso. The Ranger Fighter slumps to the ground bleeding. His intestines burst out of its container. Vale falls face first and dies.

Flynn fires more arrows at the ugly female Ogre. Unfortunately, none of the arrows were able to penetrate the Sorceress' magic armor.

Brandark with his beard singed from the pair of Lightning Bolts drops Hookmaw's body.
