Round 2
Kaos will move 5 ft to E 9
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 72d8 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 = 11
His swing will go wide as he attempts to move and attack.
Ragnir Brightaxe |
Ragnir continues to badger the orcs, hoping to cover for Mordea's attempt to sneak up on them. "Cowardly. I should have known. Anythin' tha' has Goblins as ancestors wouldna be anythin' else. Ye are all bein' uglier than most orcs, so ye probably have a mother or father tha's a goblin, or a grandparent at the very least. Or maybe not. Ye do seem ta bein thinkin' about everthin' afore actin'. Mebbe ye have elf blood in ye."
Mordea |
Seeing that Ragnir is keeping the Orcs occupied, Mordea engages, "Let's kill some Orcs."
Shortsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 63d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 6) + 2 = 13
Mordea will move to G5. Too bad she missed her attack. :(
More Villains |
The first Orc takes a step back (to D8) and attacks the big ugly human. But clearly needs additional training.
Orc 1 Falchion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 72d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3) + 4 = 8
The second Orc, shakes off the screaming Dwarf's rantings. He has a torch in his hand. He pulls out a grenade, lights it, then tosses it. It lands between Kaos and Ulfgard. (D10)
The third Orc grabs Mordea and drags her to the catapults bucket. (Moves to E7)
Orc 3 CMB: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
The fourth Orc snaps out of it, turns, takes a step (to F7) and launches the catapult. Mordea goes flying as she is launched from the siege weapon.
Fall Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 6, 5) = 21
Mordea lands on the other side of the Barterstones (P17). The Orcs have Improved Grapple. Mordea takes 21 points of damage. But she is a tough bird and survives it.

Ragnir Brightaxe |
Ragnir moves up, "Right then, when human diplomacy isna' workin', is time fer dwarven diplomacy. The human woman is me friend, ugly."
He hefts his axe and brings it slashing down on the orc that fired the catapult (4).

Anga hits the Catapult Orc (4) with a Force Missile.
Ragnir continues to badger the Orcs in an attempt to distract them.

The first Orc attacks Kaos but misses.
The second Orc lights and tosses a grenade.
The third Orc grabs Mordea and quickly puts her in the catapult's bucket.
The fourth Orc follows orders and launches the female Rogue.
Mordea briefly thinks about the good view, then she thinks about the GGRROOUUNNDDD. She does not wonder if it will be her friend. Splat. "Ouch!"

Round Three
@Ulgard - You still have a Round Two action.
Kaos and Ragnir have taken Round Three actions. The rest, please go ahead with Round three actions.
Ulfgard Strongfist |
Yea... but I am behind the orcs.
Moving closer Ulfgard moves into flanking position and swings his axe once at the flanked opponent. Putting away his shield and gripping his axe with booth hands
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 251d10 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 just to flick his wrist to let his shield slide into place again.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
Haskyll seeing the fight go into close quarters, slings his crossbow, and moves up slightly, while waiting with his warhammer for any to try and get away.
Anga Runedaughter |
Mordea "I can see my house from hereee.

Ragnir, watch out!
GM Mazra |
Round Two Complete
Ulfgard with his axe in both hands deals a mighty blow on the flanked first Orc.
Round Three Start
Kaos grabs the grenade and tosses it toward the third Orc before it explodes. It was close. The grenade explodes in flight scattering pieces all over, but not harming either Orcs or the party. Good job. That was better than jumping on it. :)
Anga sends a red hot molten orb at the Orcs. (Anga must have some thick calouses on her hands.) Her aim was a little off hitting the third and fourth Orcs. Some of the molten orb splashes upon Ragnir.
Ragnir must make a DC 16 Reflex Save. 3 points if saved or 6 points in failed.
Mordea, battered and bruised, heads back toward the action.
Haskyll readies his Warhammer.
Kaos 24 (29/29 AC17)
Anga 21 (18/18 AC17)
Ragnir 17 (11 or 14/23 AC19)
Mordea 27 (11/32 AC16) shifted
Haskyll 12 (19/19 AC17 w/ Shield)
Orcs 5 when they get an initiative.
Ulfgard 4 (30/42 AC18)
More Villains |
The first Orc near death and filled with Rage, screams out and cuts deep into the big human.
Orc 1 Falchion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 252d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6
Orc 1 Falchion Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 222d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 = 8
Kaos takes 14 points of damage.
The second Orc, takes a step pulling out his Falchion. With the torch still in his other hand, he attacks the Dwarf Ranger, but fails to penetrate Ulfgard's armor.
Orc 2 Falchion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 132d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6
The third Orc, on fire, grits through the pain, drawing out his Falchion and goes after the Dwarf Ranger. He lands a mighty blow upon Ulfgard.
Orc 3 Falchion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 242d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4) + 4 = 12
Orc 3 Falchion Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 252d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3) + 4 = 8
Orc 3 Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Ulfgard takes 20 points of damage.
The fourth Orc, also on fire, toughens through the pain, and swings at the Warpriest. The blow puts a small dent in Ragnir's Breastplate, but that's it.
I can see the future conversation, "You see this dent. That was from an Orc at the Barterstones."
Orc 4 Falchion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 182d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9
Orc 4 Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Ragnir 17 (11 or 14/23 AC19)
Mordea 27 (11/32 AC16) shifted
Haskyll 12 (19/19 AC17 w/ Shield)
Orcs 5 when they get an initiative.
Ulfgard 4 (30/42 AC18)
Round Four
Yes, Ulfgard goes last and still has a Round Three action. But if you could anticipate a Round Four action too, that would be great. Orc 2 is untouched. And these guys are tough.
Mordea |
Round Four
Hps 11/32
Mordea runs up to Haskyll's side. "I'm alive," she is winded and more than a bit unkempt, with her hair wild and covered in dust. "Let's kill these Orcs, " her thick Garundi accent ever present.
@Ulfgard - 10/42
Ulfgard Strongfist |

Ulfgard will continue slicing and dicing. If he has to move he puts his weapon away and hits twohanded. Depends on how damaged the enemys are
Anga Runedaughter |
Anga aims her crossbow at the orc near her and shoots

Haskyll Stonereaver |
It's good to see that you are alive Mordea, but we have some other problems right now.
Haskyll moves forward and taps Ulfgard on the shoulder.

Back to AC 17 now. Burning Bull Strength for CMW
Ragnir Brightaxe |
Round 4
Great, had to be a reflex save... :P Also, as a point orc 4 should have taken 6pts of damage before his swing in round three, unless a 25 missed him.
refl save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Ragnir lets out a howl at being burned by the molten blob. He calls on Torag's might to allow him to shrug it off. "Blast it girl, I'm no needin' warmin' up, especially no like that!"
fervor as a swift action, does not provoke: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Recoiling a bit from the falchion blow on his breastplate, he gives a squinty glare at the orc.
"I just got this breastplate ye pox ridden son of a warthog!"
With a growl he swings his axe

GM Mazra |
End of Round Three
Ulfgard rages and strikes hard with his axe on the second Orc.
Round Four
Kaos barely hits the Orc with his Giant Axe, but it was enough. The Orc falls dead.
As Anga sees the first Orc fall to Kaos' blow, the Mage nicks the next one with a Crossbow bolt. Next in line was Orc 3.
@Ragnir - I included the 6 points of damage on Orc 4's tally. However, I did fail to note it in the recap. Sorry about that.
Sizzling with a bit of molten metal, Ragnir swings his axe down hard on the fourth Orc. The "pox ridden son of a warthog" falls.
Mordea moves up alongside Haskyll.
Haskyll then moves up to deliver powerful healing unto Ulfgard.
The second Orc moves to Flank Ulfgard. He slashes with his Falchion striking the Dwarf Ranger.
Orc 2 Falchion: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 2 = 252d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6
The third Orc also takes advantage of its flank against the Dwarf Ranger. It too hits Ulfgard.
Orc 3 Falchion: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 2 = 242d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7
Ulfgard takes 13 points of damage from the two strikes. Haskyll's healing was timely. Ulfgard would have fallen to the Orcs otherwise.
Ulfgard lands another blow on the second Orc. The Orc staggers but does not fall. It too becomes ferocious.
@Ulfgard - I wasn't sure if you were making two attacks in one round or one attack for two rounds. I treated it as the latter. WE can all then move on to Round Five with the second Orc really hurt now.
Kaos 24 (15/29 AC17)
Anga 21 (18/18 AC17)
Ragnir 17 (11 or 14/23 AC19)
Mordea 27 (11/32 AC16) shifted
Haskyll 12 (19/19 AC17 w/ Shield)

It was dualwielding axe and shield. 3 BAB+6str+1MW-1PA-2DW+1bless..+2if flanking. I have this problem being after the orcs, I never know, do I still stand, can I flank?
Round 4 Same routine

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 221d10 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Anga Runedaughter |
Oh bother this. Anga says, and the party mixes in with the orcs, denying a clear shot.
Anga drops the crossbow and advances, drawing her pick. When she gets next to orc 2, she hits at it
military pick: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
If that hits hopeful smile
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
GM Mazra |
It was dualwielding axe and shield. 3 BAB+6str+1MW-1PA-2DW+1bless..+2if flanking. I have this problem being after the orcs, I never know, do I still stand, can I flank?
So without flank, you are +6,+5. In Round 4, you could move to B6 and get the flank. That will drop Orc 2. If a flank is not possible in Round Five. I will deduct 2 from the rolls. That is if Orc 3 survives. Is a Bless still up?
Kaos Axe Hands |
15/29hp Round5
Koas move up to swing at Orc 3

And a swing and a miss again.
Ragnir Brightaxe |
Ragnir steps to the catapult to assess its structure.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
Thinking we just use an alchemists fire on it. we got a couple spares ones kicking around. :)
GM Mazra |
Round Four End
Ulfgard strikes once more killing the second Orc.
Round Five
Batter up: Kaos swings and misses.
Anga moves up on the third Orc and gives her Military Pick a go. With the flank with Kaos, Anga sticks the Orc.
Small retcon from Round Four, with Ulfgard taking two attacks per round and killing the second Orc, I moved Anga to attack the third Orc instead. At least with the flank you hit it.
Ragnir begins to burn the ropes of the catapult rendering it useless.
Mordea moves up and slips her Shortsword underneath the Orc's armor.
Haskyll also moves up, swings and misses.
Anga would have likely taken the flank position, which as it is, worked out for the better.
Surrounded, the last Orc Bombardier goes into a frenzy, takes a step and attacks Kaos, landing an angry hack against the human.
Orc 3 Falchion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 232d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7
Orc 3 Falchion Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 172d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4) + 4 = 12
The Orc barely confirms his crit. Kaos takes 19 points of damage and falls.
Ulfgard steps up and finishes off the last Orc Bombardier with a wicked blow from his axe.
Anga's and Mordea blows also helped Ulfgard finish off this last Orc.
Kaos 24 (-4/29 AC17)
Anga 21 (18/18 AC17)
Ragnir 17 (11 or 14/23 AC19)

Ulfgard 4 (11/42 AC18) (30-20+14-13=11)
Victory, if a bit bittersweet. Kaos is dying.
Anga Runedaughter |
Anga moves over the Kaos
That looks like it hurts. Haskyll, have ye got any healin' left? Kaos needs a bit.
Haskyll Stonereaver |

GM Mazra |
Please take the time to cast heal spells or use potions and wands before the next encounter.
As the party heads back to town, a weary guard calls down to the party from the city walls, "Hurry! There is a Giant at the Hopesprings."
When the party reaches the Hopespring area, the stench of blood and smoke hangs thick in the air. In the darkness, the crackling of fires mingles with the war cries of orc raiders and the screams of townsfolk. The Hopespring beacon burns brightly, illuminating the pool at the bottom of the Hopespring’s waterfall as well as a rough hole gouged into the side of Bloodmarch Hill.
The party's attention first is directed to a Cave Giant. Two Orcs chained to the Giant's legs are directing this creature. You also noticed that someone or something moved inside the rough hole gouged into the side of the hill. You will also notice that the two guards, guarding the beacon are now dead, likely killed by the Giant and his entourage.
The party starts on the road north of the pool. A new map, Hopespring Giant is up.

Haskyll Stonereaver |
Round 1
I will provide the blessings, but the songs will have to be done by a bard.
Haskyll grins and then casts bless upon the party.
I know that this will happen after the giant moves, but getting this in. Will move to where I can get the whole party in the radius of the bless spell, if people have moved. :)
GM Mazra |
As Ragnir heads straight to the Giant he finds the water more difficult to cross.
Light blue areas on the map are about 2 feet deep and count as a shallow bog (costing 2 squares of movement to enter), while dark blue areas are 4 feet deep and count as a deep bog (costing 4 squares of movement to enter and granting improved cover to mostly submerged characters).
@Ragnir - At a run, Ragnir could make it to about P30, at the edge of the pond. Is that what he intends to do?
@Haskyll - If you wish, Haskyll can cast the Bless in Round Zero.
Haskyll Stonereaver |
I will cast it in round 0 then, and wait for my round 1
