Skivven doesn't find anything in the repair drone that would help opening the door. However, he does find a pair of something shaped like blacksmith tongs in the nearby rubble. They have several buttons on the side of the handle.

You could probably use this strange device to open the door.

Trem nods at Arrenopos then walks over to Skivven. "What... What did you find?" He looks at the strange contraption, wondering what could it be used for. Looking at it from every angle, Trem ponders for a while. "I've... I've, um, never seen anything, um, like this before."

"Well... isn't this interesting? I have a strange feeling that this gizmo can do something with the door. Let me see, it has two handles..."

Skivven begins to experiment with the device.

Do you want another engineering roll? Or did you give me this because of the 30 I just rolled? (doubt I could do that twice in a row, but here goes:)

See? :) But if taking 20 is allowed I will do that.

This is a bit of gear that was in the module. I also don't want to grind yhe game to a halt while you try to unlock a door. Does anyone even have Disable Device?

Ooo! Ooo! Me! Me!

Welp. Yeah... did I just break the neat thing we found?

Skivven is able to figure out that the tool can either be either clamped around an object and locked to hold the object in place. Or it can be locked in the closed position to pry things open.

Some with a high strength could use it to pry open the door.

Watching Skivven and Arrenopos failing to open the door, Harrash says, "Let me try that." He ignores the tool Arrenopos was using and instead slams into the door, doing his best to open it by brute force.

Okay. Let's just have Harrash take 20 and use the tool to lift the door up.

With Skivven's help, Harrash locks the device closed and wedges it underneath the door. It electeonically opens and forces the door from the ground. Another dark room lies ahead. This one is much larger than the last two hallways. Remains of cages and other containers are smashed and thrown around. Well decayed and fragile bones litter the floor. They crunch like leaves and turn to dust upon being touched.

"Oh, dear." Skivven says as he sees all the bones strewn around the room. He looks at the cages.

"Did they keep animals here? I hope so. They wouldn't have kept people in those cages, do you think?"

Skivven picks his way across the room, trying to avoid stepping on bones.

Trem refreshes the light spell on the bar of soap and send it sliding across the room to see what lies within. He then follows Harrash to examine the bones. After hearing Skivven mention of people in cages, Trem just turn his head slightly toward Ratfolk. "You... You could surprise what some people would do to others. At least now, whatever they were, they are at peace."

Nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

The bones are small. They would have been fragile even before the decay. Probably came from something similar in size to a cat or small dog.

As you explore the rubble, most of you see the rubble on the sides start shifting. It rises and falls to the sides, revealing one of the giant purple tentacled mushrooms like the one you had fought just at the entrance. It tentacles snap forward amd wrapvaround the ape. The hair begins to off the body as the skin greys. Amid howls o pain, you watch as the flesh decays and melts of the bones. The ape falls silent and collapses into death.

The rubble on the other side of the room shifts as well as another one eyed drone activates and rears up on its thripod like legs. Its arms open and spread out in an aggressive stance and a panel slides off its shoulder. Out pips a larger and more advanced version of something resembling Valeria's pistol. It speaks in that strange monotone language.

"Eep!"

Skivven looks at the tentacled creature, then back to the robot. He quickly makes up his mind, and takes a shot at the tentacled monster.

crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

But in his hurry the trigger is pressed before the crossbow is aimed, and the bolt caromes off the ceiling. Skivven furiously starts trying to reload.

Not my day with the crossbow, apparently.

Trem watches with horror as the ape gets "melted?" What is that? Is that what people fight when they explore those things? As the drone shows up, he gets the feeling that the situation might just get worse. "That drone... the drone said that subject, um, 2206 has escaped confinement and need to be recaptured. I think that... that means the creature that killed the ape. Maybe, well, maybe we should focus on that first." He then lifts his crossbow and sent a bolt flying toward the mass of tentacles.

The shot penetrates the leathery hide of the mushroom and a purple blood like substance spills from the open wound.

Still hurting from the previous fight and knowing how truly dangerous the mushroom is, Arrenopos decides discretion is the better part of valor and goes with his crossbow instead.

attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

The bolts of Arrenopos and Trem strike the creature, but they don't have enough power to penetrate the leather skin of the mushroom thing.

The Repair Drone's shoulder gun begins moving and following the mushroom's movements. When it goes off with a muffled thump, a large pellet sails past your heads. The projectile unravels in midair to become a large net.

Net: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

It falls short of the target.

Actions for the mushroom coming soon. If someone could tell me how far away the mushroom is from the nearest target, that could make things go a bit fster as I can't get on roll 20 right now.

Harrash is two squares diagonally away from the fungus.

The giant mushroom grasp the floor with the tendrils that sprout from its base and pulls itself over tge debris. One large tentacle strikes out at Harrash.

I think I still have a clear shot if I shoot from the NW corner of my square.

Skivven has finished reloading his crosssbow and shoots again.

crossbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d6 ⇒ 2 It probably doesn't matter but my bolts are cold iron. I'm guessing this doesn't pierce DR.

Reloading his crossbow, Trem's worry a bit since only one shot got the tentacle monster. "I, um, I don't know. Anyone got acid, or alchemist's fire?" He sends another bolt at the creature, but he was in too much of a rush and the bolt just hit the wall instead. He then moves to the side, giving more room to the others.

Suddenly Skivven has a thought.

"Leave a path for the mechanical man to get through! Let it do the work!"

Not sure if the robot will engage in melee but it looks like we will need its help somehow.

The robot fires another net at the mushroom.
Net: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

This time the net wraps around the living fungus, ensnaring it and trapping the flailing tentacles in place. It tries to break through the ropes binding it, but to no avail.

Trem reloads again, his crossbow, but doesn't fire the bolt just yet. "Maybe now that the, um, thing is caught in the net, the drone will just leave with it. So... So we wouldn't have to fight either of them and move on." He looks over at the mechanical creature with hope.
