Good read here: Painlord's Advanced Play-by-Post Play

We've been working to get this rebooted for quite some time. I will be willing to open recruitment to replace players that are slow on getting involved or staying involved.

I can "probably" keep a thread going for a slower response player. However, they'll likely be on their own, and less likely to engage in substantial combat or plot hooks. The 'main' party will have those opportunities.

So, baring the occasional unforeseen circumstance. I'm setting my personal goal to have pushes(posts) up at least every other day, and at least two a week (No weekends/holidays required). Regardless of responses. (I say every other day because this is an epic game. I do a LOT of research and note taking to keep things on track regarding all the hooks that end up laying around.) I ask that players wanting to be a regular part of the game also try to post every other day.

If you have a post up, and I haven't responded. It may have slipped my mind. This not intentional, a quick "did you forget/see my post" in the discussion thread will have me looking and responding.

Since we are all epic, we should have good knowledge skills and our characters should know quite a bit about the world (i.e. the wiki and various splay books). Feel free to incorporate npc's, places, etc that are obviously player knowledge.

Some of the online documents can be shared. You can also start your own doc there to keep track of information you would like to note regarding your own hooks, plots, goals, etc. If you are not already doing this on your character sheet.

HP 70/70 | AC 20 (t12, ff18) | CMD 21 | F +4; R +8; W +10 | sense Motive +17; perception (darkvision 60') +15, initiative +2 | active effects: --

I can definitely do (or keep doing) at least two posts a week... Every other day might be difficult sometimes due to our current play style (ie having to wait for responses from players or the GM, sometimes both), but as/when we get into some more action that should probably help (at the very least it will create more opportunities for some shorter but still meaningful posts).

As far as Validk is concerned, I was hoping to just leave him on the side lines and use him as a mouth piece here and there.

If however, our active participant count is low, I'll bring him in for more.

It's likely that both Areniel and Tessara would know of Validk, if nothing else, at least through Katja.

I think I am the person you are missing. I apologize for the delay, I misplaced the thread somewhere after the new year. It'll all be up and done shortly : )

Lampad's Backstory:
Lampad Myth of Origin

At the dawn of time, the Gods fought against Rovagug over the fate of all Creation. The Rough Beast, Rovagug, sought to bring it all to an end before it truly began. The battle raged for eons, but finally the Gods gained the upper hand. The Everlight cast Rovagug down to the very core of Golarion, and the Prince of Darkness sealed him away. And so – The Rough Beast were imprisoned for his crimes, doomed to rot within The Cage for all the eternities to come.

Or so the Gods wanted. But they knew that no prison, no matter what wards or walls, could keep The Rough Beast trapped forever. So they needed someone – something – to watch over The Cage and stand vigilant to warn should The Beast ever start to breach his prison. Long did the Gods argue over whom to bestow such an important task. The creatures that lurked the surface of Golarion, the ones that would be humans and elves and many more races, could barely form coherent thoughts much less grasp such a task. The Aboleths whom dwelled beneath the surface had the power and cunning for such a task but they rejected the authority of the Gods and could not be trusted. Neither would the Angels let the Devils have the responsibility and vica versa.

After a while, the Eldest of the First World intervened. They too sought to preserve Creation and offered their servants as. So it came to pass that the first of the Faë left the First World to stand watch over Golarion watchers – oathbound to stand guard for the Rough Beasts return for whatever long ages to come. They sought out the pristine and beautiful places of the world as they would surely be the first to fall should the Rough Beast power start to seep out of his prison. Those whom ventured to the verdant forests and the surface world would be the first dryads and nymphs. But it was the servants of Magdh that was given the greatest task – to keep watch over the Darklands beneath the surface. Sent to an underworld so strange and unfamiliar they would be the first Lampads.

The Underworld

The Lampads stood long and hesitated upon the entrance to the underworld. While they understood fully well the gravity of their task, and the blood-oath they all had taken, the darkness of the caverns where like nothing they knew or had imagined. The First World, their home, was to them welcoming and warm during even the bleakest winter night – the Darklands merely presented dark nothingness and cold stone. The Eldest saw their doubt and relented for they knew about the trials to come. So they turned to the Gods and extracted tribute on the behalf of their servants. To aid the Lampads in their task they took a sliver of the Everflame’s light and bound in a number of lanterns – one given to each of the Lampads so that they may carry the sunlight with them wherever they were to go. From the Prince of Darkness the Eldest took the gift of darksight and gave to the Lampads – so that they may go unnoticed without the telltale light if they desired.

Armed with these gifts the Lampads descended into the Darklands. Even armed with sunlight and darksight the travel was perilous. Strange monsters lurked within the shadows, eager to taste the flesh of these new morsels. But most dangerous of all was the mundane things – falling rocks, treacherous slopes, pockets of gas and homesickness. While they could overcome most of the obstacles in their way, the last one would come back to haunt them again and again. Nevertheless, they persevered and one by one they found their patch of serenity to watch over. Crystalline caverns, still underground ponds and raging rivers: all examples of nature’s beauty even deep beneath the surface. As the ages passed, the Lampads would grow accustomed and in-tune with their environment – even if their relations with most of the other races of the Darklands never came anywhere close to harmonic.

Of the Dwarves

When the Lampads met the first dwarf – they rejoiced. The stout creatures exhibited none of the signs of cruelty and wickedness that was so prevalent down beneath the earth. But their excitement quickly cooled when it became apparent that the dwarves where exceptionally pragmatic creatures. The philosophical quandaries and existential questions didn’t interest the dwarves much and their interest for trade and toil caused many of the Lampads to view them as exceptionally dull creatures. The dwarves on the other hand thought of the Faë as lazy and unmotivated – they didn’t engage in any of the activities the dwarves valued but relied on their magic to sustain themselves.

Occasionally the two could come together to trade or cooperate on some minor issue, but the Lampads never trusted the Dwarves enough to share their mission with them. The strained yet peaceful relation ended when the majority of the Dwarves left for the Sky and the remaining transformed into Deurgar.

Of the Drow

When the Elves first descended into the Darklands, the Lampads were filled with hope. They had heard from the sisters above many good things about the elves – their love for nature, philosophy and art. But they were still cautious fearing disappointment as with the dwarves. And yet the Elves of the surface turned out to be all that they had hoped for. Many years of commerce and mutual exchange followed. The Lampads showed the languishing Elves the beautiful places of the underworld so that they may sooth their souls and dampen the loss of their land. The Elves in turn shared their excellent craftsmanship and culture.

Sadly, it came to an end all too soon. The surface race was poorly suited to the life of the Underworld and frequently fell pray for both pitfalls and predators. They build fortified cities and tried to wall the terrors of the eternal night out. It worked, partially. As the walls grew thicker fewer and fewer of the ghastly beasts bothered them. But Elves were accustomed to sunlight and freedom, not candlelight and confinement. Decades of darkness took a heavy toll on their minds – for it seemed as if they had traded oblivion for imprisonment. But the plight of the Elves wasn’t noticed by the Lampads. If they were too caught up in their own selfish jubilation or if the Elves hid their sorrow due to shame or perhaps politeness were hotly debated at the fairy courts for centuries.

The fall of the Starstone had not only brought about the end of humanities first great civilization and the exile of the elves, but also stirred The Rough Beast from his slumber. Not enough to wake him – not enough for his corrupting presence to afflict much. Only a few scattered Lampad sites deepest in the soil – so the Lampads didn’t see no cause of distress. What they failed to realize was that the collective despair of a civilization was as a glowing beacon to the Rough Beast. His sleeping mind instinctively reached out to the Elves and whispered to them, shared his dreams of ruin and power.

Slowly the corruption wormed its way into the psyche of the underground Elves. It played on their hopes and dreams, their desire to once again roam the world as its rightful masters. To return to the glories of old. To wield true power again, instead of covering behind their barred doors and stone walls. The smiles of greeting turned falser with each year and jealous eyes followed the Lampad visitors, but still they did not notice. ‘For why should they walk so carefree in the darkness while we must hide’ thought the Elves.

So a circle of powerful Elven mages devised a plan to remedy this disparity. A bold plan so that their race might truly live again. So that they could endure this and return to the surface triumphantly and rebuild their kingdoms after the dust of the Starfall had settled. They were going to steal a tiny fraction of the Lampads essence – just enough so that the Elves could pierce the darkness of the underword. For if they could see through the darkness, they could brave the Darklands on somewhat even terms. And that was all they needed – to make their temporary home slightly less oppressive so they could endure long enough.

As a first step of the ritual, Lampad visitors where sold and given small unassuming trinkets, laced with highly sophisticated spells that soul-bonded with their wielder. They would form the conduit through which the Elves could tap some of the Lampads essence. They would just need a tiny fraction of the Faë’s power – enough to give them salvation. But as the circle gathered and the ritual truly began, only a pathetic trickle of energy came through. Where the Elves had expected an abundant flood and only to scoop a few sips from it, they found almost nothing. Unwilling to face failure, the Elves redoubled their effort. Still nothing. Confounded and confused, they didn’t know why it wasn’t working. Some cautioned that they should halt the ritual and redo their research and preparation. Yet in the end, they elected to continue. As so they poured even more energy into their grand spell.

And the dam finally broke – they found their raging river of energy. It worked! A small measly scoop of power was diverted and infused into the elves, just enough to grant them the darksight they sought.
As the Elves celebrated their grand success, a flaw in the process made itself know. For while all mortals and fiends and angels had souls – the Faë of the First World lacked them. What was supposed to serve only as a barely noticeable conduit instead lashed itself to the very lifeforce of the Lampads. And so the triumphant mood of the Elves turned into horror as the Lampads currently in the city all dropped dead, their bodies empty and burned-out husks, bereft of even the basest sign of life. Outside the city of the Elves, many of the Lampads suffered the same fate. Their sisters cried in terror as the life simply left some of them. And when the horrible hour passed and the deaths stopped they realized only those among them that had recently spent time among the Elves had died. All those whom had recently been with the Elves had died.

First they feared that a great calamity had befallen the Elves, and that they were just collateral. That the Rough Beast had somehow slipped his bonds for a moment without their notice. Then they found the trinkets on the corpses. Curious things, with burned out runes, still warm to touch. And where the corpses where utterly lifeless these did seem to contain some bare traces of life. Some fleeting memories of stalactite caverns and crystal clear lakes. The sorrow turned into horror, which quickly progressed into wrath and vengeance.

The Lampads gathered hurriedly for Court – to forge their feelings into plans and punishment. The Elves too sent emissaries to the Court to explain and to beg for forgiveness but they were harshly turned away. For a night the Faë debated over which path to take. They were ill equipped and tempered for warfare, so that was ruled out despite the protests of some of the more bloodthirsty of them. Then one of them made an interesting discovery – it seemed as if the link between the Elves and the trinkets still lingered. But it was fading, so hurriedly the gathered them all. The bitter irony of using the implements of murder for punishment appealed to the vengeful Lampads. And so a vicious curse was devised and cast back through the link, burning out the last traces of power.

”:As you have taken the life of our kin, we shall take the dreams of yours. There shallt be no hope of return for you, only an eternity of exile beneath the ground. May the Sun enforce our curse and burn away any whom defies it! May your skin shrivel to darkness as your hearts already has and may your crime be plain for all to see! So is our decree and so shallt it be, until the very end of time.:”

Needless to say, the Lampads and the Drow seldom interacted with each other afterwards, and never out of free will of both the participants.

Of the Svirfneblin

It took the Lampads a long time to find the Svirfneblim due to their reclusive tendencies and even longer to earn their trust. But once friendly contact was established, both the races was delighted to find kindred from the First World. They would be the one race beneath the earth that the Lampads considered their allies.

As of the modern age, the Svirfneblim city of Dwimovel hosts the largest concentration of Lampads. Most live within the crystalline forest that lies at the heart of the city where, like the Svirfneblim themselves, they relax and enjoy short but well earned breaks from their eternal watch. The forest also hosts the Darkland Court where the Faë meet a couple of times each century to discuss everything between heaven and earth.

Character sheet

To add: earmark some gold for cohort, personality & physical description. Some scrolls. Copy in backstory once I've proofed it. Short personal history note

Spirit animal

To add: Find a name & picture. A pair of feats I believe. Short backstory, personality & physical description.

General to add: Cohort (will do later), a bit about followers.

Status: If all goes well, I think I can finally get a gameplay post up tomorrow :)

--------------------------------

Organizations: Not really part of any, but Nyx certainly has an interest in the Lantern Bearers. Considering having one of those as a cohort (not necessary the PrC however).

--------------------------------

Question: In Golarion the Faë of the First World lacks a soul. I heard that the implications (beyond the obvious) for this is described in one of the Kingmaker books. As I am currently playing trough it, and wouldn't like to spoil it for myself, could someone give me a pointer (page number and book?) if you know =)?

--------------------------------

And happy new year!

I'm going to start off with an apology!

As evident by my frequently over-optimistic goals that I later overshoot by days or even weeks, my things aren't moving at the pace I (and the rest of you I assume) would want. Stuff keeps coming up and this is what sadly gets pushed back. I have finally realized what I should have seen ages ago - I can't really find enough time to do this justice. I probably saw it coming too, but this game was so compelling that I refused to take reason and admit that I was in over my head. I'm sorry, I really am. Sorry that I tied up and wasted your time.

Feel free to reuse the fluff I wrote and the characters I linked, if you want them. And I hope I didn't upset that hook you designed Fnord.

Happy gaming //Lessah

Sorry to hear you need to go. We appreciate letting us know.

@Lessah- sorry to hear that.

@everyone else- I share Fnord's concerns about Pandorica's pitch... An Elysian titan would be much larger and stronger than Katja (who currently leads in those things), would have far more reach than anyone else, be able to do insane melee damage, could easily have the highest AC, regeneration, much higher SR than anyone else...

His spell casting would be slightly behind the full casters, but not by much and I'm not sure that really balances things out (he'd still be up to 11th level spells)... It's not my call to make, but that's my 2cp. A base ET (non-prophet) with 4 levels of a martial class might be better, I don't know...

Male Drow Noble Accountant 12/Monk 10

Sorry to hear that, Lessah. I can certainly sympathize; last week was a nightmare of dead cars, looking for new cars, and starting a new job (right at the start of tax season). Im having to cut back on my posting abilities with my two groups as well for the next couple of months.

@DM - I'd like to get Tessara's next post up tonight, if at all possible. It will likely be a bit long as I make contact with the Custodians. Is there a particular way I should go with it, or say something specific to a particular Custodian?

I was sort of waiting for Katja to respond to my question about her business venture... but that's just an RP opportunity... I'm not sure how long I should wait before I gloss over that and begin the part of the conversation related to plot stuff?

The Custodians are gone. The heroes were tasked to be guardians/custodians until their return.

Since you are coming into the game as an epic force for good. You may consider yourself one of those guardians/custodians. As such, you would likely know of the others (Katja, Validk, etc).

RP dialogue is awesome! But don't let it hold you up from minimum posting otherwise we risk losing momentum.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

wait... the custodians are gone?!? i must have missed something (big) because in the documents shared during recruitment/character creation it seemed like we were recruited by the the custodians and they were the ones who granted us mythic power, and that it was a standing organization we were part of... what happened to them? when?

also, I was the last one to post in gameplay (beside a GM post) and I'm concerned its going to become the areniel show if i'm posting 2 or 3 times a week and everyone else is at 1 or less... Wednesdays are super busy days for me anyways but if there's nothing up tomorrow (which will be 1 week since my last post) I'll post again glossing over Katja's business dealings

Going on memory here...

The 'Custodians' approached a group of individuals of high esteem and offered them positions as guardians. (This was the first recruitment thread for the game a few years ago. That GM got lost. Another GM took up the reigns and the core of the guidelines used for this game were developed.)

(That GM also got lost. Another GM picked up the flag and moved on. It was around here that some of the original 'Custodian' origin got misplaced. However, the concepts of a group of world guardians remained. This GM also got lost. However, a common goal of a search for immortality by a group of good guardian minded individuals was codified.) Note that the 'Custodian's' were not identified. While deific, their divinity was not confirmed, nor their identity. (suffice it to say that the Custodians were only concerned with this Golarion).

Without going back through multiple game threads, I don't recall if it was the 3rd or 4th GM that ran one scene before getting lost. That scene was a group of guardians learning of a rampaging spawn of rovagug. Coming together from across Golarion, the group was able to render the spawn 'Storm' unconscious, build a dedicated demiplane as a prison, and move 'Storm' to said prison. Unfortunately, this GM was also abducted as those before.

Liking what we had put so much time into, the remaining guardians decided to keep going with a round-robin GM style. I volunteered to go first. While I was developing and starting up the next story, a few of the guardians also left for higher ground (or lower). Reduced to 4 guardians, one of them passive as the GM pet, the party continued on. Party consensus decided that going mythic was acceptable as a means of continuing progression (experience needed after 20th level is just a killer). Here is where a conclave of various deific heralds met together to discuss a danger that threatened the multiverse. The characters were granted mythic power directly from the heralds of their deities and tasked with saving the worlds.

Due to many factors, the game slowed down considerably though all continued to profess a desire to keep it going. Having moved to yet another thread, the character creation rules were revised, and fresh victims, I mean players, were recruited.

Since all the characters are epic level and from the same Golarion, it makes sense that they would all have the same general background (i.e. recruited by the Custodians, granted mythic power by their deity's herald, tasked to save the multiverse).

So, players have the option of having also been invited to be a guardian at some point in the past, or not, since this is much older history. Think of it like being a field office director with the FBI. You are based out of California, someone else out of New York, another from Missouri, etc. Sometimes a couple of you might end up involved together, but most often you have your own jurisdiction to oversee. Since you're all directors, you know of each other, probably have met each other, have common goals, can work together etc. Only now, the threat is great enough that instead of just a couple of you working together, you all are.

To be mythic, they would have had to have been granted their mythic power by their deity's herald. That's pretty recent.

The events in other parts of Golarion are not time stamped. Players are welcome to incorporate them as hooks in their posts. Visiting a friend? Auditing the books on a business venture? Reading a report by a minion?

Take your pick.

I'm also opening up the recruiting for another player or two. I want to make sure that there are at least four regular posters.

That's incredibly helpful, thank you!

Here I am.

I have to admit that I was under the same impression as Nate on this one. My apologies. Since you follow at least one of my other groups, you'll know that I've had better months, so I feel like I'm playing catch up here (again). :(

Since Areniel is talking to Katja, I think that Tessara will go in search of Validk to seek some answers. I'll set my post accordingly.

EDIT: I just put my post up. Should we roll to see if Aiden can talk the bishop down, or can we say that she just 'persuaded' the man down? ;) Also, I'll post some more tonight after I get home, and I'll have Aiden up as a mouth piece, with the understanding of putting her at risk.

Are you looking for a couple of plane shift scrolls? they are cleric 5 and cost 1125 each.

Or would you rather have the page of spell knowledge with plane shift on it?

Here I am.

I'm going with the page of spell knowledge, as Areniel had suggested.

ok, i'll have the details of a side quest up for you momentarily.

Sounds good Fnord. I'll be posting tonight after I get home, I hope.

has anyone heard anything from Grand Moff Vixen/Katja? she posted a week ago in the recruitment thread but hasn't posted in gameplay for 3+ weeks... i know she was stuck waiting on me to arrive for dinner for a little while, but it's been almost 2 weeks since me first post at dinner...

GMV has posted in other threads as recently as yesterday.

Not sure if just not getting into the game, tired of the game's pace, or what.

I recently lost my job which left me scrambling to make sure my rent was paid. As of now things are taken care of, with me getting back into my games. I hadn't made any gameplay posts yet as I want to do so in a better state of mind. I have a job interview in a bit, but when I get back I will get something going. Sorry for the delay.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I had the same problem through the holidays, and I am only now getting back on my feet, financially. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Hope the interview went well. I've been there before too and know how stressful a situation like that is.

Apologies, but I don't recall offhand what would block such a spell. What sort of protection would I have to use to accomplish this?

I felt it did. :-)

the particular spell i used (discern location) can only be blocked by mind blank.

After doing a quick search I found that Katja does not have anything to prevent any divination effects.

Nidal is not a nice place. It is a lawful evil militaristic theocracy ruled by the sinister Umbral Court. The vast majority of its citizens, and all of its nobility are followers of Zon-Kuthon.

Has Areniel traveled there before (how long ago, and for what purpose)? How are you getting there? From Cassomir it's about 500 miles.

The entrance to the Shadow Caverns, and the assumed location of Visceroth is deep within the Uskwood. Nidal's capital Pangolais also lies withing the Uskwood.

The Uskwood is a forest so dense that light does not easily penetrate the canopy, providing for an ever present dark and shadowy place. Many believe that traveling to and from the plane of shadow is easily accomplished within Nidal, and especially within the Uskwood.

Keep in mind, just because I've seen a map of England, and I know where London is, if I landed there right now, I wouldn't know where the nearest loo was, let alone the exact location of a heavily guarded and rarely visited building hidden in the sewers of London.

On another note,

I'd like to present the idea of allowing characters to have two gold banks. The existing bank remains their gear, expense for gear for any followers/cohorts/etc, and their own base of operations (especially if gold is spent on high end magical security).

The second bank would be for tracking downtime and worldly involvement. Like AceDiamond's magic shops, Validk's Academy, etc. Any game benefit from these would be minor, sources of news and information, minor consumables and mundane gear, and so on.

The requirement for the second bank includes an extensive write-up that presents how those expenses are meshed into Golarion life.

Maybe Areniel has a series of temples that he maintains, Tessara might have some crusader outfitting shops or a series of inns along the primary roads that crusaders use to get to Mendev.

Thoughts?

Wow, it's gotten quiet here...

I'm not opposed to the dual banks, but I'm not really familiar with the downtime rules so I'll have to read up on them before I could do anything with it.

Sorry, it's been a hectic week (I'll respond to your questions about Nidal later... Hopefully, if my sick son will take a nap...)

Apologies for not posting, been a busy week. I'm not currently at home as I've been staying somewhere else. I will return tomorrow and get back into the swing of things.

Male Drow Noble Accountant 12/Monk 10

I think that the idea of a second revenue stream is sound, even given 13th century economics and mechanics. That being said, I would have to give it some thought; I would also need a few weeks grace period to do the write up. Tax season is a complete time suck, and I'm not left with much of it to do some writing at this point.

Are we in a holding pattern for some reason?

If I keep moving forward without players I may as well go write it as a novel and seek publication...

At this time I wish to be removed from this campaign. Please mark me as inactive.

Male Drow Noble Accountant 12/Monk 10

Sorry, I thought I was waiting for his Lordship to respond to my questions.

EDIT: Just saw his response. What an ass, and I think I could smell him before he even came into the room :p

Sorry to hear that you have to go away, Vixen. Hope you can come back soon.

Yeah, Vixen, we'll miss you.

I'll plan to move my strand forward soon, sorry it slowed down so much (I wasn't sure if we were waiting on recruitment, and was hoping to get some more input/feedback from Katja). Wednesdays are the busiest day of the week for me, but I'll answer your questions about Nidal asap (all that will actually be easier with just me).

Sorry to see you going GMV, it has been an interesting journey these last couple years!

RE: Lord Manx Serimus, yes, an ass he is, and while relatively wealthy and successful, he does have a reputation for holding to his deals. He'll try for just about any advantage he can wrangle, but once struck, he will abide by his agreement.

He's suspected of having done plenty of shady dealings, bribery, some extortion, lots of smuggling. He does have a reputation for serious punishment within his organization for anyone dealing in dangerous drugs. He avoids outright slavery, but does allow indentured service to pay off debts.

Dealing with him often leaves one feeling like they want to wash their hands, though his are never dirty. He runs around in the high society circles with a claim to an old, though minor, noble line. He is currently single, his last wife dying in child birth. He has no known heirs. He is known as someone that can generally find just about anything a man might want.

*****
If it isn't obvious, there are activities going on in several locations. Adding a bold OOC header with your current location will help me, and the others know which posts apply to them.

This does mean that the roster is now:

Validk Ghujold - wizard - currently GM toy.
Arienel - divine caster - heading to Nidal.
Tessara Achared - oracle - currently in Mendev?

CDL hasn't officially left, but hasn't posted for a long time.
aceDiamond hasn't officially left, but hasn't posted for a long time.
Lessah hasn't posted for a while either.
I'm assuming they are gone for now, if they drop in later we can look at it at that time.
GMV has requested to leave.

So recruiting is open. I'm not going to hold the game thread though.

While I don't mind running separate sequences, I'd prefer not to double my research and posting needs. If Arienel and Tessara can join up (with or without Validk), we can keep moving forward.

As new recruits come in, I'll get them involved and work to get them joined into the active encounter.

Geez, I guess I never got around to posting my progress report like I thought I did.

I ended up terminating the Lunar Oracle, and I am now building an Arcanist. I'll work to have her finished by March 1st.

I may not get the Nidal stuff up today after all... i just cut the tip of my left pointer finger off with an axe (I have it held back on with some sterile gauze and duct tape, and i'd give it about a 66% chance to heal back on, but typing this way is awkward and uncomfortable).

ouch?!

sorry I haven't posted yet, I'm still having some trouble typing... i've started posting in my other PbPs from my phone (because that way i'm only typing with my thumbs) but that doesn't work for long posts like we usually try to do here...

i don't want to hold things up anymore either though... so I'll put something up now and may have to just make shorter posts for a little bit...

regarding Katja's disappearance- we're telepathically linked, so I'm assuming she gave me some indication that she was leaving and why, right? If not, I'm about to get very sidetracked... I'm going to post as if she did, and if you want to use her as an adventure hook you can either have her disappear later from wherever she got off to, or we can ignore the post I put up and retcon a more appropriate reaction.

Whatever floats your boat regarding Katja, consider it a reasonable reason for her abrupt departure.

Or, assume that it was not a teleport on Golarion, but a planar teleport, which should break your telepathic link and leave no clues to chase.

Since an encounter may be imminent, I was reviewing information.

@Areniel does anything on you glow? I know already that you have two auras (as a good cleric, and as the trumpet).

Are you approaching in the open, or stealth?

Since this isn't table top, giving a few more details of how you are doing things in your posts will speed it up a little. (I'm fine with having a couple of spoilered if/thens).

Unfortunately, I am going to have to bow out of this game. Real life is just too hectic for me to build a high level character right now. Thanks for all your good work, Fnord. I will see you around the forums. Best of luck to everyone else.

@GM- sorry, I forgot to answer about glowing... My helmet glows if undead are within 30' and Inheritor's Call (my sword) is functionally flaming (though it's sheathed currently).

@CDL- :( sorry to hear that. If all that's holding you up is finishing the build, I could help with that... If posting is going to be difficult too I totally understand that.

@CDL - Im sorry to hear about your leaving. From prior postings that I've seen, I beleive that you will be missed in this campaign.

@Fnord - I have to ask, where does this leave us? Unless I am mistaken, we are down to two people. I am more than willing to keep playing, but considering that I had to shutter both of my other PbP campaigns, due to lack of interest, I can completely understand if you want to put this one on hold. I'm just being curious at this point, I'm not trying to foment dissent.

I think I'd like to put it in a holding pattern for the play portion until we get some more players.

I was originally a player, stepped up as the 3rd (or 4th) GM to keep it going, but now all the original players are gone.

I kinda get the feeling that peeps think that playing a character in an epic campaign requires as much commitment to posting as playing a lst level character in an AP.

Finding a core group that understands the depth needed to run, and play in a game like this is looking to be a problem.

Interested in cooperative GMing?

I wish I could but I don't have the time to do any GMing for a game on this scale...

I mean, I could run combat encounters or simple things like that if its helpful, but I don't have enough time to develop meaningful plots and whatnot :(
