Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
Has anyone got some rope they feel like tying off up there? Willow could probably shuck off her backpack and climb up, but she's more of an archer than someone likely to just tear up a wall with all her gear. Memo to self: put a rank in Climb next level.
Natsume Shin |
I'll give it a shot.
"I have rope. I can climb that and lower the rope for others to climb more easily." Puts his pack down and pulls out his silk rope. Walks up to the wall an takes a good measure of handholds, then begins the climb.
Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Guess not
"Ah, it is more difficult than expected."
Tûrak Kavendarth |
"Climbing is not my specialty friends" he says as he keeps his eyes in the direction in which the dogs were, aware in case they come back.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
How high is the pile of rubble? Can Willow put her hands together and give Shin a boost? She shrugs off her pack and gets ready to give the man a lift on his next try. Aiding another: 1d20 ⇒ 8
So much for that idea, at least for the moment.
Natsume Shin |
"Thanks." With Willow's help, Shin tries to climb the rubble once again.
climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
If he makes it, Shin wraps the rope around a sturdy object and drops the remaining rope back to the group while bracing and holding on to his end.
Saleem Magmum |
Saleem looks at his companions climbing and struggling.
"Why do we not knot the rope first? It'll enable the less accomplish of us to make this climb far easier.?" pointing out that the rope as it is now would make one like him difficult to climb. H emakes ready to climb when it's his turn.
Knotting the rope would make it a DC 5.
Climb, 1d20 ⇒ 13
Kaede Kashinaga |
Kaede attempts to follow Saleem up the rope.
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
She struggles for a while, but finally makes it. "Climbing is not... what I am best at," she says, huffing and puffing.
Now that she has a better view of the room, she scans it for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
GM Baerlie |
The northern wing of the tower seems to have escaped the worst effects of the collapse, but rubble still litters the floor and everything is covered in a thick layer of stone dust. Thick cobwebs cloak the ceiling and hang down the walls like gossamer tapestries. Two archways stand open: one in the southwest wall and one in the nortwhest wall.
Squares filled with rubble are treated as difficult terrain.
Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
Willow's not quite prepared to take his weight, but Shin manages to spring over the wall regardless. As he ties off the rope and the others climb up, she retrieves her pack and hopes it won't throw off her balance too much. Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18 Ha! Of course!
Joining the others, she quickly looks around for signs of recent passage or presence. Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Saleem Magmum |
Finally reaching the top after struggling his way up, his arms burning with the effort. Saleem checks with his companions on their next step.
"Where to next?"
Tûrak Kavendarth |
For the last, Tûrak takes the rope and try to climb.
Climb: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16
After reaching the top, he looks around for some dangerous areas or traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Tûrak Kavendarth |
ops! I thought I was the last one, sorry!
Alexis V'eron |
Sorry for being late... rough real life for the past day or so.
Alexis grabs the rope and tries to climb up. Climb check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
After struggling a bit, Alexis makes it to the top of the rope. "Great plan on tying knots in the rope. That made a huge difference. I'm ready now."
Once she gets to the top, Alexis looks around the area.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Natsume Shin |
Shin wraps the rope back into a tight coil, staring dishearteningly at his pack on the ground below. I just realized I put my pack down and no one brought it up With that he moves to the passage in the northwest wall.
"This appears the only way to go. I can take point, but if I miss anything, don't hesitate to tell me."
Kaede Kashinaga |
"Excellent, we are all here. And so to business." Kaede cracks her knuckles surreptitiously. It might be wise to split our party into two groups of three. Do not do so yet. I must check the archways for traps, yes?"
She walks to each of the two archways and examines them carefully, tracing and prodding each outline softly with a finger.
Southwest archway Perception check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Northwest archway Perception check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Careful not to step past the threshold, Kaede then sticks her head into each archway and glances around.
Southwest archway Perception check 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Northwest archway Perception check 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Saleem Magmum |
@Shin. I can use Mage Hand to get your pack for you. It should be less than 5 Pounds based on your profile.
Alexis V'eron |
Alexis drapes her scarf over her shoulders, leaving the ends loose to move with her.
"Yes, let us be off. It looks to me like we can only go to the northwest," as she points in that direction.
Tûrak Kavendarth |
Tûrak follows his fellows, always in the back.
Saleem Magmum |
Saleem keeps close. Always good to be near someone else.
GM Baerlie |
The northern wing of the tower seems to have escaped the worst effects of the collapse, but rubble still litters the floor and everything is covered in a thick layer of stone dust. Thick cobwebs cloak the ceiling and hang down the walls like gossamer tapestries. A single archway stands open in the southwest wall.
Except the areas exposed to the outside, all rooms in the tower are dark. Difficult terrain in this room because of the rubble.

Tûrak Kavendarth |
Can I move in the map? If no, how can I declare my action? Sorry, but is my first time in PbP...
Alexis V'eron |
Is anybody else planning on casting light or lighting a torch? Alexis can do it as needed.
Alerted by some unexpected movement, Alexis takes her bladed scarf off of her shoulders and begins to move it in circles around her body.
Surprise round:
Move action: Draw bladed scarf
Tûrak Kavendarth |
Tûrak moves out of this room, going back to the another that he comes from and draws his pistol.
Saleem Magmum |
Saleem claps his hands sending out a tiny bolt of Fire.
Ranged touch Acid Splash but modified to to Fire due to bloodline.1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d3 ⇒ 2
GM Baerlie |
@ Tûrak: you got it right, you just tell me where you want to go and I will move your token on the map. I couldnt find an online tool where everybody can move his token. But I can set up something like a google drawing if it is easier for you?
Combat order:
Tûrak - move, draw weapon
Saleem - fire damage
Kaede - draw weapon
Alexis - move, draw weapon
Natsume - defense
Willow
I will wait for Willow's post before posting the summury of the round. In the meantime I will roll initiative for the spider
Init. Spider: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
Willow slides her halberd from where it's strapped to her pack, slipping through the doorway to defend the path to Kaede and Tûrak. She steps to one side to give them a clear shot.
GM, I'm not sure how easy it is to come to grips with, but I think Roll20 is one of the simpler virtual tabletops out there, if you're looking for that sort of thing in the long run. I've yet to experiment with it myself, though, so I can't really say much about it.
GM Baerlie |
Tûrak moved back when he saw the spider, out of the room to be safe from any attacks and drew his pistol. Saleem immediately shot a fire bolt at at the giant thing at the ceiling, hitting it on the side and dealing some damage. Kaede drew her shortbow and aims at the creature ready to shoot an arrow as soon as it's coming closer. Preparing for an attack Alexis starts circling her bladed scarf around her body. Natsume goes into defensive position, tensing every muscle in his body, waiting for the creature to move in his direction. Willow became ready to defend her collegues in the entrance area and drew her halberd from her back.
Round 1

Willow
I'm using Roll20 for online gaming, but unfortunately it's blocked by our office firewall (they don't like gaming sites), so I'll not be able to see your movements during the day. The other thing is, that you need an account on Roll20 to be able to use it. It's free, but you still need an account. But if this ok for you all, I will create a Roll20 game. So no map update for now, I will do it in the evening (Europe), but feel free to post your actions in the meantime.
Saleem Magmum |
Saleem will stay out of the way and continue using his innate magic, sending magic flying towards the Spider to burn it.
Acid Splash modified to Fire, ranged touch 30feet. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d3 ⇒ 1
Kaede Kashinaga |
Kaede fires her arrow at the spider.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage if hit: 1d6 ⇒ 2
She nocks another arrow immediately after firing the first.
Tûrak Kavendarth |
On round 2, I'll delay my turn, ok? I think google drawing is a better option.
Alexis V'eron |
Round 1
Alexis moves north, then northwest, and northwest again. Do you want us to move our tokens ourselves or would you prefer to do it?
Once she has reached her destination, Alexis casts Ray of Frost on the spider. Ranged touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Action summary
Move: N, NW, NW
Standard action: cast ray of frost
Tasarë "Willow" Solaera |
Willow scrambles over the rubble as best she can, trying to leave space for rays and arrows while she moves towards the spider. She levels her halberd, determined that the creeping thing won't get past her.
Tûrak Kavendarth |
I'll delay my turn in round 1 too, ok?
GM Baerlie |
@Tûrak: It's ok, just tell me when you want to take your action (after which player) and I will adjust the order.
Saleem shot another fire bolt at the spider, hitting her on her head. Kaedes bolt hit the spider directly between her leg and her chest. Alexis shots a ray of frost at the spider, successfully. Natsume fires another bolt at the spider, hitting her on the side.
The spider, still sitting in her net on the ceiling, tries to entangle Natsume with a web, but missed the target.
Ranged Touch Web Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Willow enters the room, carefully not to fall down, waiting for the spider to crawl towards her.
