Messenger is cast.
Downstairs in the basement is the majority of Acolytes all sleeping.
on the 1st floor you probably have a black or gray cloaked instructor with some acolytes (taking 3rd shift) the beds in the basement are rotated for shifts. Acolytes typically guard the main entrance at night as well on the First floor.
Grey cloaks guard the courtyard towers night and day (accessible from the 1st floor). The second floor is where the leadership sleeps.

Sleep is perfect for groups of low level types. Definitely have it ready if possible. I wonder if sleeping characters get minuses to save for Sleep spells?
Sleeping is sleep. Casting sleep will not alter their condition at all.
there is always...Coup de Grace if you want to kill them in their sleep.
As a full-round action, you can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace (pronounced "coo day grahs") to a helpless opponent. You can also use a bow or crossbow, provided you are adjacent to the target.
You automatically hit and score a critical hit. If the defender survives the damage, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die. A rogue also gets her extra sneak attack damage against a helpless opponent when delivering a coup de grace.
Delivering a coup de grace provokes attacks of opportunity from threatening opponents.
You can't deliver a coup de grace against a creature that is immune to critical hits. You can deliver a coup de grace against a creature with total concealment, but doing this requires two consecutive full-round actions (one to "find" the creature once you've determined what square it's in, and one to deliver the coup de grace).

I like this coo day grahs.
Let's try to sleep, silence or otherwise subdue anybody who is awake and might sound the alarm.
Those remaining (or anybody we especially dislike [or really, anyone - we are mostly Chaotic Neutral]) should get coo'd. Probably we should coo day grahs as often as possible. Because we can. And it is wicked nasty.
I just mostly want to see what kind of damage I can get. I think that could be the biggest total possible for me. Coo + Sneak + Crit + Helpless = Dead Fake cultist. This would add to my renown of braining three Acolytes at once the other day. I am one bad-ass Hobbit. ;)

If we do encounter anyone, let's remember that we look like them. And are anonymous. No need to fight anything other than if things are heavily weighted in our favor. Kill 'em in their sleep, lock 'em in their rooms or pass them by.
In other words, let's not take the good shot when the great shot will be available later in the shot clock.
I will take out a bar of chocolate and smear a bit on my face while eating it. (under the mask). I will possibly feign late-night munchies from the special tobacco if questioned. Ready Diplomacy/Intimidate/Bluff.
Whenever possible, I am declaring that I will use Stealth when moving.

the doors to T7 open into the room not hall.
If we lock/barr/stone shape/etc. the 2 doors in T7 that close off the sleeping area T8, all those Acolytes and etc. should be locked in there with no other exit. This would remove a bunch of potential foes from the mix going forward (or at least slow them down). They may not even notice if we are quiet and they sleep through everything. Nice sleeping arrangement in case of a fire...
Speaking of, we could always set the place on fire to create confusion...
I think we keep fire in in our bag of tricks and handy. The place would be insane with people waking up to smoke and panic and we could move at will through the chaos.

If your not comfortable killing the acolytes in their sleep - There is the cells in area T12, if you can get them in there...they are mostly unarmed (maybe daggers). You don't have the keys, but Fernleaf has his picks. The armory is on the first floor in area T5. You are not sure how it will look if the Pathfinders slaughter everyone in their sleep, if the City Leadership investigates.

I do not want to be big, please.
I want to scope out the 2 doors in T7 leading to T8. Do they lock? If so, lock 'em. If not, I will look for some method to quietly force them to remain closed.
Does anyone have wizard lock?
Tell me what I see here and what my options are. I want to seal everybody in who is inside T8.
Once done, we need to swiftly move upstairs. I want to Coo the folks in T4 if possible.
Sneak stealth darkly and coo the least acolyte looking one of the bunch.

The doors into the barracks (Area T8) do not have locks and open into the room. Hammering spikes in to the stone floor will most likely wake the sleeping occupants.
For the Courtyard - There are three guards (grey robed Priests) who guard this at night (four during the day) from their watch high above the yard.
One is in a watch tower (T25) and the other two man the portcullis (T26). You can access this area from the 1st floor (Area T2, but you have to walk through the courtyard to get to the door). White robed Acolytes are never in these areas.

Alright! Wake up acolytes! We have high level emissary from our homeland of Razmir visiting unexpectedly. We require the highest security. Krant and I have agreed that you all deserve a taste of the life of a priest of Razmir! You will all report to the kitchen and dining area and we will supply you with a reward! Be patient, as we all are under a security decree!
I turn to whoever is wearing gray and say,
Go get their reward from the stores!
Get some booze from the tavern!
I believe you will allbehave with honor to Razmir!

Can we take the third shift guards stealthily? This will be our best course of action which will allow us to move without question by the other guards. We can move on the leadership that are asleep, tie and gag them as well, and then proceed to the other posts throughout and take the other positions. Once secure the temple is ours.

You wake up all the acolytes, most grudgingly because they are tired. (all in this are are white robed). They do their morning constitutionals in chamber pots and dress in their masks and robes. They filter through the kitchen where some grab water, or a few pieces of bread or cheese. 15 minutes later they are all sitting down in the Dining room.
Not sure who wants to start drinking at 4AM...
Is someone going to the tavern for that ~10 min round trip.

What the..I didn't see Tom's post when I posted (I refreshed and no one had replied) and now he is waking up acolytes without everyones agreement on a plan? This needs to be a stealth mission, Fernleaf agreed to this, this isn't going to help our cause. This is going to arouse suspicion and the leadership is going to be awakened and UNSURPRISED!

OK. White cloaks do whatever anybody in black or gray tells them to do. Gray cloaks do whatever black cloaks tell them and the blacks, well we do whatever the blue cloaks tell us. We are very much on the fly here since we are under time constraints. It is time for action!
Who passed out clocks/watches?
GMPablo |
They seem to be waiting for one of the guys in black or grey cloaks to speak. They are tired, but the guy in black robes (Buchart) mentioned a reward, so seem ready for one. No locks here, but there is a jail area in T12 if you can get them somehow from here to there. Fernleaf can pick the locks (Krant has the Key and he's upstairs). Also - if they start shouting the guards upstairs will be alerted.

"Ok Guys, come with us."
I will say this from kind of behind Anaba. So it sounds like it is coming from her. Remember, we have masks. Cannot see whose lips are moving. And I am an actor, used to pitching my voice in different ways.
Let's take them into the hookah room and lock them in there. Maybe get half elf boy to help them stay in there. Give him a filed promotion. This is their reward. They can sleep in here tonight! We just had to get it prepared for them.
Once that is done, we should go up the stairs (North) and go kill Krant with a nice Halfling Coo
