Being within two arms-length of an actual dancer unnerves Father Murphy somewhat, and he hovers near the group, uncomfortable.
But when the woman mentions the Blue Pryamid, he senses that there is something to this.
Ignoring his friends' obvious concern for the woman, Connor follows Forest's queries. "Eh, the devil are you talking about? Do you know where we can find Tewfik al-Sayed? If he's the driver, he should know about their excursion into the countryside."

Forest grabs the young lady by the arm pulling her close as she tries to leave “If you need anything, anyone tries to harm you or you need any help of any kind you come find me. I’m staying at the Savoy Hotel find the concierge and tell him to get me a message he will put you in my room so you will be safe.
After gently releasing her arm What is your name beautiful? with a wry smile
Playing up my heroic flaw
My name is Yalesha, kind sir...I dare not flee the club, the Brotherhood knows where my family lives in Cairo and they would be in great danger if I came under suspicion, but thank you for your kindness. All I ask of you is that you avenge all that they have murdered in London. So many innocent young men dead..., a tear rolls down her perfect cheek and she places her hand on your chest and looks deeply into your eyes. Please be careful, these men are monsters.

Yalesha's tears fall faster as Murphy roughly demands additional information and she tries to keep Forest between her and the priest. He owns a spice shop on Ardour Street here in Soho. All know al-Sayed's Spice Shop. He eyes widen as she stares at Murphy and she backs further away saying, مجنون

Taking her hand she placed on my chest.
I dont want her in any danger but I really have to get more from her, I hate this.
"Yalesha I will not let anyone harm you or your family. I have dealt with many monsters in my days, can you help us with where we can find this Tewfik al-Sayed? If we find him maybe we can put and end to all of this.

I'm burning one of my reserved Interests for Language: Arabic. (Seems good for a three-of-a-kind.) Now.....what does an Interest do? :P Is that +1 on a knowledge roll? I think so. I'm gonna go with that and change it if I'm wrong. :P

You're correct. Normally a Common Knowledge roll (like recognizing a Arabic word) is made as a Smarts roll. Having a defining interest gives you a +1 to that roll. What it doesn't do is make you fluent in Arabic but you do know a few words and phrases (like, where is the bathroom, have a nice day, how much does this cost, etc.). In this specific case she uses a non-commonly used Arabic word so you need to roll to determine if you know that specific word. If you have Knowledge of Arabic then you wouldn't need a roll to understand a simple word like that. Clear as mud? :-)

Every two weeks? When was the last time they met here, Yalesha? Wilson interjects in an effort to steer the conversation onto the immediate topic.
Yalesha furrows her brow in concentration and the counts days on her fingers, loses track and restarts. Eleven days ago? Or maybe twelve?, she says a bit uncertainly.

The Shop of Tewfik al-Sayed
It is a small, neat, two-story building on Ardour Street in Soho. People of all sorts patronize the spice shop. The shop is ordinary, it smells nice, and Tewfik’s spices are of good quality. The shop is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. There is a light visible through the curtains of the front second story window. A narrow walkway goes between the spice shop and the cafe on it's left. Adjoining the building to the right is the side of a one story florist shop.
The front door is locked. The fog is extremely thick, pressing down upon you and leaving your skin and clothes feeling damp. The street is quiet as even the pubs have closed for the evening.
Forest Roosevelt |
Time to get the mind right for what could be in this store. Gun is loaded and ready. Ready to go
Forest checks around the building for possible entrance and exits trying to figure out the best way to come in to the building and make sure Tewfik al-Sayed does not escape.

Connor is distracted, and his thoughts are constanctly drawn back to his task at the farm. Bah. 'Tis now too late to make it this night. But that is just as well. The disk should certainly be present, and that is not yet done. Of course. Perhaps a cross-wise cut? Or would lateral be better? Yes, that is what a learned man would do. Such a thought pleases him.
What are we doing now? Oh, going to the store the woman said that man would be at. He thinks there was more details to it, but such things strike him as minor points. The kind of things mortals would worry about.
He doesn't know where that last thought came from. It sounded...foreign?
Still, there may be important business to be about. What are we doing again? Oh, yes, the building. The...store? Spices? Eh, what matter it.
Connor follows Forest around, fingering his knife in one pocket, and his ever-present Colt1911 in the other. "If the front is locked, we might have better luck in the rear, anyway," he whispers.

Chang - a key aspect of Savage Worlds rules is the "Ace" which means you ruled the maximum on a check of some kind (e.g., Notice). If you Ace a roll, you get to roll again and add that result to the original roll. It's possible to Ace that second roll giving you a third roll which can Ace, etc., etc., all adding to the total. Wild die rolls can also ace so you would have aced your Wild Notice, Stealth and Wild Stealth. In this case, it doesn't matter so this is more an FYI for later.

Keep in mind what the Streetwise skill actually is: Streetwise.(Smarts) Streetwise characters are able to gather information from the street, saloons, or other contacts through bribes, threats, or carousing. Finding written information in libraries and the like is covered by the Investigation skill. Streetwise is always modified by a character’s Charisma modifier.

Looking at the situation in the back, is the window on the knob side of the door close enough to the door so that, I dunno, someone could break the window and reach through to unlock the door?
Wilson looks over the situation and sighs. "At least the fog and late hours should keep whatever we do from most prying eyes."
And assuming we've had time to swing by the hotel, Wilson now has his pistol (Colt 1911) on him.
Aubster |
That's what I'm thinking. Unless...what skill is 'lockpick' anyway?
The skill for lockpicking is the lockpicking skill ;-). Kwan has that, so I'll give him a botted shot to see if he can pick the back door lock. If not, then breaking a window would work but be noisier.

No need to roll the wild die as Kwan easily unlocks the door. I imagine he would give a small bow to Murphy proclaiming his success but otherwise be silent :-)

Jake lopes into the spice shop, followed closely by Forest who has his gun drawn and is watching for enemies.
Loping into the room, Jake runs face first into a shelf full of spices after just a couple of steps. One of the bottles falls to the floor and shatters releasing the smell of licorice that fills the air.
As his eyes adjust, Jake sees shelves all around him. The rest of the room is hidden by the darkness that presses down around you.
Aubster |
The resourceful Murphy illuminates the room with his flashlight. You see that you're in a room that's about 20 feet wide and about 10 feet deep. The room is full of shelves that hold a multitude of ceramic jars all carefully labeled in Arabic. Besides the shelves there are other various accoutrements of a spice store (boxes and bags and labels and twine, etc.) all neatly stacked around in the room. Finally there are a few racks that contain drying plants, likely the raw ingredients of the spices. On the far wall, there is a closed door that can easily be reached by navigating a torturous route around the shelves.
Pausing at the closed door, Chang presses his ear against the wood and here's nothing to indicate that anyone is in the next room. From Chang's previous visits to the shop, he surmises that beyond the door lies the front room of the store.
Fr. Murphy |
Murphy tries the door to the front room to see if it's open.
"My friends, I think we all expected some backroom full of ledgers making malittious intent clear, but if we find naught but supplies and merchant goods, this may have been for naught. Still, this place must have more than two rooms in it. Might one be hidden?"

"I wouldn't worry too much about our lights being seen from the street. It's late and foggy. As long as don't don't waste too much time, we are unlikely to be caught by passers-by," Wilson suggests. "I am more concerned about the light upstairs and who may be up there."
Aubster |
Kwan slips quietly through the swinging door and returns in a few seconds. He makes clear that there is no one downstairs but there is a staircase leading to the next floor along the right hand wall about half way down the room. There is a faint light coming from upstairs that illuminates the staircase.
Aubster |
Hi Kwan - hope the trade show is going well
Kwan slips up the stairs followed by Forest and then the others with Murphy bravely taking the rear-guard position. The stairs open out into a room that has a few armchairs, a large rolltop desk, and a oversized, ornately framed mirror hanging on the opposite wall. The mirror seems to show a clearly reflection of each of you than should be possible considering the dim light in the room.
To your left (towards the back of the building) there is a short hallway. The closed door the end of the hall is where the light has been coming from as it seeps out from under the door.
Aubster |
"Hmmmm. Go check the light, Caine. I'll investigate this...anomoly," Murphy whispers to Chang.

As you walk closer to the mirror, you notice an asymmetry to your reflection, but one that's decidely odder than any funhouse mirror you've seen at a state fair. Instead of making you look tall and skinny or short and fat this mirrors reflection shows half of you as you are but the other half of you seems to flicker with a baby Murphy, an old Murphy, a happy Murphy, a sad Murphy, and for the longest time of all the Murphy that betrayed Clearwater to the Reavers. That Murphy is laughing uproariously but at what you know not. Finally, the image shows just you.
You've heard of mirrors on the wall that can be made to show distant places and things. This mirror seems to fit the descriptions you've read about those other mirrors.
