"Carlisle! He came to one of our red carpet premiers! I ... don't know what else I can do to help."

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Both a phone number and an address.

The Detective asks a couple more questions and eventually allows Jake and Caine to leave, though with a short admonition not to leave the area until he contacts you again. In the parking lot you find the rest of the group waiting.

After exchanging the day's impressions, Seymour sighs. "Well, since it looks like I won't be able to take you two to Arkham, do you have other plans for tomorrow?"
Roughly what time is it now? about 10 PM? Can Seymour expect that there is someone able to pick up the phone at Miskatonic University? How did the phone system work - were there phone booths, private phones, or do we have to go to a public place to make a phone call?

IIRC there were definitely phone booths and many businesses had phones (see 'The Sting' set 5-10 years later). Private individuals especially upon the east coast would have had telephones if they were wealthy (and innovative) enough. I would hope the University would have a night porter, that may answer a phone to take a message. Of course everything is upto our GM.

Roderick answers swiftly; "Certainly not and your company would be pleasure. As would Miss Fitzsimmons and the rest. I haven't had a chance to see much of the area and although I would love to do it under happier circumstances." he leaves the words hanging in the air as he recollects the scene and blanches slightly.

Andoran

"I could do with some rest and relaxation."

Expect DM to shift to tomorrow after we rest....

Jake gives the detective his home address, his phone number, his agent's phone number, his publicist's phone number...
"Any one of them will be able to contact me."

Out in the parking lot, Jake breaks into a grin.
"Well ain't you a sight for sore eyes! I was about to call a cab. Any luck at the University?"

Rod shakes his head; "Afraid not old chap. Appears the lecture was from over a week ago, as predicted. However, the visiting Professor still is at the Miskatonic University." he smiles.

"You feel ready for a trip to New England? It should be very beautiful scenery. Maybe we can work out who these aboriginal murderers are." Rod says sadly despite being slightly enthused by a trip around this strange foreign land.

Virile Male Movie Actor

"Ready and willin'!" Jake says, hopping into the back.
"The law knows how to get in touch if they need me. Just take me to my apartment and I'll get a suitcase."

Andoran

"I shall maintain contact with Mr. Westfield."

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

In the morning the group readies itself and leaves for Miskatonic University. The drive to Arkham is clear and cool, the winter having gotten over it's darkest snap. Those who journey arrive 3 hours after departing and with the help of a handy road map or a quick question, find the University with ease.

Anyone can go who would like, I'm not certain who was or wasn't heading out.

Virile Male Movie Actor

Jake hesitated over his open suitcase, running his hands over the holstered pistols he used in so many of his movies. It didn't seem right, packing them around in this civilized place.
But...
The LOOK in the eyes of those murderers, standing over Jackson's mutilated corpse... like if they could they'd do it to everyone.

No, better to have them and not need them. He rolled them up and put them in his case.
Walking quickly downstairs, he tossed his case in the trunk of Seymours' car, hopped aboard and declared "Let's ride hombres!"
He turns to the others, grins and stage whispers; "That's a line from one of my movies..."

Isabell arrives at the meeting place, with her sunglasses on, and looking a little worse for the wear.

"Before anybody says anything...Yes it was a long night...Yes I had too much to drink...and I'll bite the hand of anyone who talks to loud on the trip".

She then proceeds to climb into the back seat, lean her head against the door, and groan.

Slicking back his hair, before replacing his hat Roderick nods to his companions. His sharp suit and casual demeanour provide the example of a relaxed English gent; "Well met, I would not dream of causing a Lady any discomfort."

In his hand his long cane, that he leans upon whilst retrieving a hip-flask. [smaller]"Care for a morning nip?" he offers the silver container around as it gleams in the morning light.

Behind Rod is a large well-packed bag, obviously he was in Baden-Powell's Scouting for Boys and he is well-prepared.

Andoran

Once everyone is together again....

"The police shed some light upon tha brutal murder o our friend, tis a cult called tha bloody tongue an has been other victims as well."

"Shocking, we need to do something. Yes, travel to see this lecturer maybe he has covered them in his anthropological studies." Roderick says whilst taking a sip and passing his hip-flask around before getting in the vehicle.

I thought those who were told by the police to stay would not join, but looks like they're playing Chaotic :)

Seymour is mostly silent during the drive, concentrating on the road. When he finally steps out of the car, he does a couple of stretches to get his blood running properly, and the others can see that he looks quite tired as if he hasn't slept last night. He yawns deeply.

"Well, this is it. I must say, fairly impressive for a relatively backwater establishment, if a bit eerie. Anyway, let's find out something about our mysterious professor."

Seymour tries the front door, and assuming it's not locked, strides through the halls until he sees one of the staff, at which point he inquires about Prof. Cowles, or the Esoterics faculty in general.

Andoran

"If this continues I may have to locate a proper sword."

Thought the police orders were not to like leave the country..

Roderick stares out of the window, admiring the beautiful scenery. In some ways like the Home Counties of England, whilst in others so different. The scenery seems to stretch despite the pace of the vehicle. Rodericks mind is calmed although he cannot help to see what happened in the hotel in his minds eye. The gentleman occasionally glances to Isabelle, to ensure proprietary is upheld. "Miss Fitzsimmons, please wake up we are here." he speaks quietly in her ear and softly shakes her shoulder.

At the smell of the alcohol, Isabelle starts to attention, holds her hand to her mouth, then quickly opens the door before the car begins moving, emptying what little is left in her stomach.

She then closes the door, pulls her coat up over her head, and groans, leaning against the door.

Isabelle slowly opens one eye at the insistance of Mr. Farshaw. A line of drool laces from her lips connecting a small pool on the fur collar of her coat. "Oh my god". "Why does daylight hurt so much". "If my head didn't hurt so much, I might think that I'd become a vampire". She then quickly begins to shuffle through her purse, finally giving up, and emptying it's contents onto the floorboard in front of her. Finally with a cry of triumph she opens a small case and removes a pair of sunglasses placing them on her face, then turning to the others with a smile.

"There". "That's more like it". "How much longer before we get there"?

"We have arrived, Miss." he kindly says, soft words trying not to disturb the Lady further. Cautiously he gets out of the vehicle, whilst not looking of help with the up turned purse. 'One does not look into a Ladies purse, there is a sense of propriety.'

Andoran

Nods....

Virile Male Movie Actor

Jake gets out the the car and stretches after the long drive.
Taking his fedora off, he brushes his hair back as he looks up at the stone edifice of the University.
"Jumping Jehosephat! That is seriously Gothic!"

Roderick stands beside the actor; his eyes appraising of the giant stone erection. "Yes, back home we have more Georgian or baroque buildings. That is beautiful, I expect there's a porter about somewhere." Roderick says before asking the actor; "Have you played any of those swash-bucklers, in old 'gothic' castles? Was it your magnificent performance in Prince Valiant?"

Virile Male Movie Actor

Jake laughs as he lights up one Camel and offers another to Roderick.
"Ha! Nope, 'fraid not Mr. Farshaw. I've made my name in westerns. But by god those things look like fun! Doug Fairbanks introduced me to a fencing coach, and promised he'd put my name up to the casting directors for his next action flick."

Seymour nods appreciatively.
"Westerns?! Sounds like fun! I tried submitting a scenario once, but it got rejected. The producer said there were too many words said by the heroes."

Roderick takes the proferred cigarette, and lighting it up. Whilst keeping away from the ill Isabelle, not wishing for her to feel any worse. "Settles the stomach, especially after that drive. Seymour did you want to be a racing driver?" He asks in his plumy accent with a hint of teasing.

Seymour looks slightly embarrassed and flattered at the same time.
"Sorry, I tried to go slower than I do when I drive alone. Indeed, when I have a spare time, I compete against like-minded people in a racing club. The possibilities opened up by the age of technology we live in are amazing! Just fifty years ago, no one could imagine going over 50 miles an hour. What is truly baffling if you think about it from an evolutionary standpoint, is that the human perceptory systems allow us to react to challenges which we have never faced in our history as a species. There was never a need for us to be able to drive a car or pilot an airplane, yet we are able to do that. Perhaps one day, we will learn how to fly to the Moon."

"It's perfectly fine old chap. Although Miss Fitzsimmons probably would have liked a more sedate journey." Rod winks, "Yeah, it's amazing how far technology has progress. Just a few years ago I flew for the British Air Corp in the Great War and now there is talk of commercial aircraft! But to the Moon; I would love to pilot that plane." he adds wistfully.

Andoran

"Heroes speakin too many words, tha they don't even unnerstand...."

Female Human Spoiled Debutante

Isabelle pulls her hand mirror from her jumbled belongings in the floorboard of the car, checks her makeup, sighs in resignation, and unceremoniously scrapes her belongings back into her purse, then straightens her skirt, and steps out of the vehicle.

Jake laughs at this.

"Wouldn't be a bit surprised partner."
He takes another drag.
"Considering the hatchet job an accepted script gets, you'll sleep better at night."

Chang Caine wrote:

Jake nods.

"Nature of the job. Still, I really like it; and I make decent money too. Can't get much better than that."

Seeing Isabelle get out of the car, he offers her a cigarette.

Andoran

"Not to mention an ad lib here and there. taking a few liberties with the script?"

anyone seen our DM?

Nope, his last posts were on Aug 26th and 30th, and he also disappeared from a recruitment he was running. Having been in such situations myself, I guess RL interfered in a brutal way.

And he hasn't posted in any of the games I run or play with him. But with the announcement of his appendicitis, I hope he is doing well.

Roderick seems slightly out of his depth with this talk of movies. Certainly he liked art and had even done a turn in the Chippingham Amateur Dramatics Society. "Ad-libbing? I thought all the 'talkies' were rigorously scripted."

Andoran

"Probably a lie fabricated by writters who need jobs even during the filming."

Andoran

Sits down and meditates first in seiza and then finally in lotus style......

Female Human Spoiled Debutante

Isabell strips naked and begins to run around the vehicle. "Let' all go streaking"!

Roderick waggles his eyebrows suggestively; "That sounds like an idea!"

Andoran

Taken aback not by the murdered corpse in the hotel but instead by a young ladies sudden nudity Chang can not even put together a sentence, being the first time he has delighted in this sight.

Chang Caine wrote:

"Naw, it's way older than even film. Some of the old stage guys were talkin' and..." He almost sucks his cigarette into his lungs when Isabelle goes streaking.

Then in a predictable return to Call of Cthulhu...

As the men at first avert their eyes then look on in fascination, Isabelle's hidden vestigial twin makes in appearance, emerging from a hidden fold in her abdomen, the red faced demon appears, it's fanged mouth gaping, and struggling, and it's snake like, slitted amber eyes staring at the men with hateful malevolence. As it seems to gasp for air, blinking in the unfamiliar sunlight, the beginnings of it's two tentacled appendages begin to worm themselves from the fresh pink opening.

Sanity rolls everyone

Isabelle stops in place, and begins to sing the new arrival an eerie lullaby, in some strange forgotten tongue, clearing the mucus from it's still emerging form.

Seymour squirms and covers his face, the suppressed trauma of witnessing childbirth coming to haunt him in a surreal and terrifying way.

Hey Isabelle, wanna take over as our new GM? :)

Roderick looks on at the woman stripping down to run around the car; 'Are all American women like this?' he thinks smiling to himself not being able to take his eyes from the dilettante.

She starts to change as the horrific creature tears it's way from her; he is not able to take his eyes away from her form. 'I hope all American women aren't like this!'

Sanity Roll: 1d100 ⇒ 4

He has seen worse ;p

Andoran

"What, no!"

Sanity 1d100 ⇒ 72

The shock of first seeing a naked woman and then suddenly the son of satan was too much for the normally stoic Chang....

He sits down in place un-moving and begins chanting in Japanese.....while rocking back and forth....
