Background:
Roderick was born to a first-rate family, in the home-counties of England. Everyone said so, that the Farshaws’ were top-notch people. However the truth from his perspective was altogether different, although he went to the best boarding schools with a great education. He often fund himself despondent. His elderly parents didn’t really notice him ‘children should be seen and not heard’ was their motto. Thus he quickly grew up to be a self-sufficient, if lonely young man.
Upon acceptance to Oxford, the Great War broke out and alongside many of his chums he joined the Royal Air Corps. It was not long before he was shot down for the first time, he was luckier than the others – he survived. Try and try again, he took to the skies on frequent occasions, his record was mediocre but he managed to survive the dangers of the Great War Aces.
Although the last time he almost didn't make it, in the blue skies about the fields of France; his mission to photograph enemy trenches. But out of the sun came a dark shape, bullets raking his Sopworth camel. Into a death-spiral Roderick slowly fell. Upon hitting the field his leg contorted the wrong way and fuel spilt all around.
Rod tried to drag himself away before the fuel ignited, but was unsuccessful. When he woke up, his left side was quite scarred, with the burnt skin encroaching upon his neck. The scars have healed over the years but Roderick still likes to wear gloves, and he walks with a pronounced limp.
Eventually he was transferred to the near East and spent significant time there. Mainly administrative and diplomatic work, although he did take part in a couple of actions.
After the war ended Roderick continued his studies, becoming a respected researcher and antiquarian, running a small import shop; despite his families objections to actually working. Though for him it was more of a hobby buying things from his chums and taking jaunts overseas.
He’s really enjoying the resurrection in the social scene in London, having a lot of fun with the Debs.
Well I sent a second invite to those who had characters made. Hoping they're just out on the weekend slump. If not I suppose I might have to hold a recruitment again. Guess that's what I get for getting kinda screwed on timing lol.
So I'm not sure how I missed this but Scranford never gave me a backstory or Quirks for Isabella, meaning that I'll be keeping her out of the opening post. I'll need those as soon as possible, now with some form of link with the others that will let you get into the game without knowing Jackson Elias yourself. That's on you.
Well I was thinking that maybe Roderick has travelled across the Atlantic upon a liner to meet with some colleagues and other dealers. He has brought trunks with Persian rugs, a few Arabic pieces, some traditional crockery and furniture from Britain.
Maybe some famous Movie actor needs some props for his next film. Or of course Rod loves to take in a bit of culture and partake in some circulating to make new friends and contacts.
Not planning on firearm use, relying heavily on sword/unarmed combat modes, Wanted to spend the skill points in the martial art and use the same points for both unarmed and sword use, since the stance/footwork etc are based on the sword.
Am I out of line on that or will I just have low scores?
"That's a dashed fine piece, I think we could do some deals together." Roderick is not one to turn down a profit, he travels to Chinatown whilst in NY to get some 'genuine' Chinese antiques to sell back home. He encounters the man half a decade his junior, hoping that together they could make some money and a friendship.
Absent-mindedly brushing a lock of hair over one eye; "Well a nicely veneered bureau, like one that the herbalists use with lots of compartments. I am sure that some eccentric Lord would love one."
He ponders slightly more; "A nice bit of Jade would be magnificent, however I am not going to break the bank. Even if it's a lovely specimen." he pauses; "Why do you know, anything suitable? I was going downtown to meet some friends but..." There's a twinkle in his eye, knowing that they can both make a profit whilst helping those with less fortunate tastes improve their life.
"That's a dashed clever idea, I suppose it will also be a challenge like 'The Crossword'" He says referring to the Times crossword as if non-other existed.
"I believe we could even make these a fad amongst the Deb's and Society. Say that cane you carry, I haven't seen one like it?" Rod queries lightly.
Now I must ask if Isabella is still here, since this game is about to kick off severely and I'd like to know my cast of characters (And if I must pick up any more)
Doublechecks.
No, no; I rolled low. Caine rolled high.
Does this mean Cain sails through the open window, like Bruce Lee in that one movie with James Garner?
And since I got a high income roll, here's something Seymour would have as his car: Duesenberg Model A, having shelled out $6500 for it in 1922.
While we're at it, on the subject of racism. I don't live in USA, but I've read that racism was still a thing there in 1920s and not frowned upon, so I intend to occasionally make in-character racist remarks. Please note that they don't reflect my personal views and I'll abstain from them at the first indication that someone finds them inappropriate or offensive out-of-character.
Apologies for my abscence, I've been having pains in my side for a few weeks now and upon visiting a doctor discovered I had appendicitis. I was in the hospital for a bit and then went into surgery. Now that I'm back home I'll be posting again. Just making sure you know what's up, post up soon.
These Ryuko's players waited for two months before starting to look for a new DM... but I'd wager that finding a DM for a Paizo AP on Paizo's own boards is much easier than for a Cthulhu game...
