I just want to hide in the street with someone else, not having Issceran standing alone just so he will be ganked. I hope no one is waiting on me, I'm waiting on the story to progress.
Not you specifically, I'm just waiting for folks to come up with a plan, let me know what resources everybody plans on obtaining (if any), and where and when people are positioning themselves so I can make up a map.
Ahh, I'm bad at checking whether I've posted recently or not unless there are new posts :s Simza's probably not going to be too effective, she can stay by Issceran if you want?
Barin would like to stay on the rooftops so he can see Mikobar coming. THEN he'll try to engage him or his snake, when they are near enough. As for where to place the group, I suggest we all stay on the roof. Me and Koraq will engage and then you can follow up with spells and what not.
And I'd be trying to get the serpent btw.
We need to see Mikobar and don't alert him of our presence. Staying out of sight without giving him perception checks is paramount imo.
Don't think any of us are particularly good at stealth are we? Well anyway, I probably wont be able to post in the next day in character, so please excuse me if my post is delayed. If we do start the combat feel free to play Simza as necessary Nazard
So tomorrow, I'm heading off for a week-long work trip. I'll be able to post, but not update maps or things, which is why I haven't been pushing ahead with this combat that's about to start. I figure it would be worse to get a round or two in, and then have to stop, rather than just wait and get into it when I get back.
I have good news! In two weeks or so, I leave Afghanistan for good. The bad news is while heading home, I won't have access to the internet until I reactivate my cell phone once I'm back in the states.
That's fine, I'm heading to GenCon next week and won't be posting from Wednesday - Monday morning, so I won't be able to do much either. Everyone have safe trips!
On the game itself...
Since this is our first actual combat is there anything we should be aware of? You've posted the list with initiative order, but do we have to post in the order? If so apologies :)
Hah! Whoops! Were you out of order? I was in a rush and didn't even check. I shouldn't have moved her on the map, so assume she's back where she was, though now she won't have any trouble seeing.
Yes, I forgot that I mentioned all my combat formalities to the other group, but not this one.
I don't mind posting out of order, so long as people check back in to see if their advance-posted action has become invalid or needs to be changed. In fact, posting out of order speeds up play in many cases and is encouraged. I will resolve everything in initiative order, however.
When you make a combat post, please put all your actions under a spoiler headed with the round number
Round 1:
Like this
This helps me spot combat action posts amid question and discussion posts, and prevents people from double posting actions in a round. I also usually post, under a spoiler, the bad guys' stats, including hit points, AC, and saves. This information isn't to help meta-game, which is always a worry, but so that you, the players, can provide some of the narrative. If you can see that your attack hits, but doesn't take the bad guy down, you can colour your own descriptions of how the enemy managed to shrug off a powerful blow, or how his eyes bulge as the sword goes in, but keeps his feet and continues fighting. Also, this way folks don't have to wait for me to say, "Hit, but not down" before deciding their own actions. You just have to be careful to not let the given stats dictate your combat decisions. Two humans might look a lot alike, but you'll be able to see that one must have a mage armour spell on, or that one has weak Fort saves and the other weak Will saves. I put the stats under a spoiler in case you want to make your combat decision without having that information known. Then you can peek afterwards to see if you managed to land the sleep spell, or whatever.
I'll head over to the game thread to post the stats for the snake.
Male Gnome Archaeologist Bard 1; AC 16, flat-footed 14, touch 13; HP 10/10; Init +2; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +3; Perception +7
I think that I must be the "JOE-I-GOT-THE-RULES-DOWN-PAT" guy.
I'm also the one everyone has look up the rules if I don't know it off the top of my head (which actually happens a lot in Pathfinder, with all the little tweaks the 3.5 rules took)!
One down! Btw I was wondering if it was possible for me to move to the two-handed warrior archetype. Seems fitting although Barin won't have enough dex to maximize his 2 handed attacks I fear.
I'm fine with alterations still at this point, but unsure why you think he won't have enough Dex for two-handed fighting. Did you mean two-weapon fighting, or are you planning on ditching the shorts word and just using dwarven war axe?
