Zincher's man set the silver plater down revealing a perfectly succulent chicken beneath, braised in herbs and vegetables. As a second man brought over a bottle of fine wine from the mobster's private stock for Rilia's approval. More food and dessert's arrived on brilliantly dressed platters, each one looking almost too good to eat.

Rilia nodded and tucked her white cotton bib down into her firm cleavage and began to eat. "Mmmm." She purred.

When Aishe leads them to the hippogriff nest the half-elf gives the large egg an appraising look. "It might be worth something to the right buyer, you know. Hippogriffs can be trained to be steadfast mounts given enough time and dedication. You return or visit for the first time the massive crater cut into the northern side of the island. No trails lead to the site, making you instead navigate through rocky mountainside, and once one comes within a half mile of the actual crater, fallen trees and loose soil make travel even more exhausting.

For each hour of searching the crater or the area within a thousand feet of its perimeter, a character has a 10% chance of finding a shard of pale green metal—a single pound of noqual, the type of skymetal the falling star brought to Golarion.

How many hours do you wish to spend searching? Once you do, roll those sweet percentile dice.

Rilia:
A few hours into your care of the workers, Erix scampers back into the tent.

"Slight problem," he says. "Clegg's found out that you healed the workers and is headed this way. He isn't happy."

Nel shakes her head at prospect of eating their profits. "I would suggest that we hold onto it. I'm sure that there is some person crazed enough in Riddleport who would like a hippogriff as a pet." Prodding at where the beast's claws got through her armor.

"I knew there were oversized birds on this island, but to think that it has hippogriff as well makes me wonder what else this island has hidden." Sheathing her weapon, Nel sighs and glances at the sky, barely visable through the trees overhead. "We better hurry to the crater to find the noqual. As she unearths a sizable amount of Noqual, Nel sighs heavily after the fifth hour and plants her shovel into the dirt. "Well, I guess that this is as good of a time as any to call it a day. "Just working in the sun, digging..." he begins politely answering her direct question.

But after a moment, he shrugs, and continues a little quickly as if annoyed even with himself for bringing it up.

"Well, as you've mentioned it. No, it's not OK. I mean if there's a reason to gather this Noqual for political gain, OK fine, I get it. But if we're just after the cash, it seems to me we'd be better off hiring actual miners - folks more skilled in finding the stuff than us. Or a bunch of cheap labor to scour the ground."

"I mean we could be out here all day searching for this stuff haphazardly and find a few scraps here and there. Why not hire a cadre, map this place out in a grid, and really do a job of it?"

"I'm not skilled at this, and feel our efforts are somewhat wasted here. Nothing personal. Like I said, if this helps us politically with that guy back there, let's gather what we can and leverage it for all it's worth. But if you're just after the gold it brings, let's head back and gather a dozen or two cheap laborers and do it right."

He leans on his shovel and looks to their leader for wisdom.

To be clear, I am fine digging away or whatever the group wants to do, but Aishe feels there's a better path for his skills than blisters and an aching back.

Murder's Mark

Zincher gives a hearty laugh before clapping Rilia on the back. "I'll be happy to take you up on that offer, dear."

He gives a hearty wink as he wraps his arm around Rilia's waist, picks her up with the steadied hand of man used to hauling lumber and carries her back into his grand tent.

Night falls. The guards, now free from Rilia's direct compulsions, feed the fire and settle into their evening habits. Erix goes over the watch roster at dinner around the bonfire. No one from the Gold Goblin group is given a mandatory spot on watch but is welcome to join in.

Rilia:
Assuming that you're spending the evening - Zincher only engages halfheartedly with you in the evening. Up close, it's clear that he has dark circles around his eyes. His teases are interrupted by loud yawning. Before the sun is even down an hour, he begs, "Aye, no more tonight. Clegg needs his beauty sleep. You're welcome to stay here."[/] He fluffs one of the pillows on his feather bed before continuing, [b]"I know it's rough out here, so I understand if you want to get back to your friends."

Less than an hour after he falls asleep, he rises and begins sleep-walking out of the tent. Following him, he cuts a path through the outskirts of the tent, past the tents where everyone else sleeps, and slides past two bushes that hide a trailhead. While it's clearly overgrown, the trail is still visible and Clegg's deep bootprints in the mud clearly marks his path. Near the bottom of the path is an entrance to a cave.

[ooc]What are you doing? You can also tell that his "rough" tent has several riches and a good number of documents about the island, particularly a large map.

Aishe:
Around ten at night, you notice Clegg Zincher walk toward some unknown point on the outskirts of the camp. He disappears between two bushes fairly quickly.

Aishe wakes Nel, if she's asleep, "Sorry to wake you, but Zincher just wandered out of camp, alone. Seems odd to me. I'm going to follow him if I can, but I want backup. I don't want to go out there alone."

He sneaks out and tries to follow Zincher's trail - at a distance.

Aishe:
Aishe stumbles down the path as it slopes on the cliffside, causing a small fountain of rocks to clatter. Zincher turns around abruptly and smiles, seemingly awake, "Aye, don't do too much of that. I'm headed down to go fishing - you don't want to scare them all off!"

He turns away from the trail, not wanting to push the crime lord. He returns to the group and tells them what he found.

Oh, and as he returns, he nearly jumps out of his skin as Rilia whispers in his ear. "Don't do that!" he hisses though he's grinning at the whole thing.

In the morning, or that night if Nel wakes everyone, Aishe tells everyone what he saw.

"So Zincher slips out of camp and heads down a squirrelly little trail off the beaten path. He said he was going fishing, but I dunno. Who goes fishing at ten o'clock at night? Anyway, I think we should check out that path today - or question Zincher more about it."

He looks a little sheepish, "I should add that he did catch me following sneaking up on him. I stumbled badly, so he knows I know, uh, whatever there is to know."

Aishe:
It's clear that he is not going fishing. He has no sort of gear needed for fishing and the path is (obviously) not the fastest way to the water.

No, unless you were opting to cast a spell during this encounter. It would have happened after sundown.

Normally I try not to assume things but I'm guessing between Aishe, Rilia, and probably Nel that everyone is awakened that night.

In the morning, while Tamiro eats breakfast while listening to Aishe and Rilia recount the nights happenings, or if awoken, he frowns and taps his chin, "Odd. I would have thought morning be the best time for fishing."

Looking to the others he says, "Do we want to try and follow tomorrow night? I am not the best at subterfuge, but I can stand back a distance with Kino and wait for a signal if things go wrong."

Nel's eyes snap open as she fights against her instinct to stab the person who woke her. "Ah, what?" She murmurs, rubbing her eyes and releasing her white knuckle grip on the weapon she had hidden nearby. Moving long strands of brown hair out of her face, Nel reveals the slightest point of her ears, flashing part of her elvish heritage. "I'll get Gillian and Ri- have you seen Rilia?" Sitting up straight, Nel glances around their small section of camp. "Have you seen Rilia? I don't think she came back last night."

Moving over to Tamiro, Nel nudges the sleeping samurai with her foot along before moving to wake Gillian up. "Hey, Zincher's on the move. We need to discuss our options." Nodding to Aishe, Nel sends him on ahead, as she starts the arduous task of putting on her armor.

"I agree, we should go check it out, but why wait for nightfall? The path could be treacherous in the dark there along the cliffs. Although Zincher managed it, I'm not sure I'd want to without a light source, and that breaks any stealth we might try. I'm keen to check it out now - while Zincher is busy during the day."

"But I'm flexible. We could dig for Noqual today, and investigate tonight if that's what folks prefer." He looks to the others for their thoughts.

"Oh!" he adds, "I can, for a short time, detect secret doors with the spell. Just for a minute or so mind you, but if we find a dead end or something obvious, it could save us some time searching."

"We'd have to be more discrete during the way but it has the advantages of not having the darkness or Zincher stomping around to worry about," Gillian offers.
