Sure, I wasn't sure how you felt about retconning. I'll wait to see how round 3 pans out before posting his next actions since he acts so late in the round. I guess I just got a little excited!

Here are the stats for the Giant Centipede.
That is Vara's summon for the next round! ^^
As for purchase, Vara would likely attempt to find a woodland smith- a druid armor weaver who lives in a hut in the woods she encountered during one of her several treks there. Vara identified herself with the secret druidic language once she realized that the Ulfen woman has long left the North behind and was indeed another druid. She then conversed in Elvish and Skald with the fellow druid. She would have commissioned from this person for a set of leaf armor.
That is for 500 gp, always masterwork, and otherwise, same as studded leather, but without metal! The armor would have the Ygg'Drassil faintly embossed on the mid-section.
It is listed among others here. Also you would allowed otherwise it is doubtful Vara would wear armor during a massage which means Vara shall likely stay out of the melee for this fight.
This fellow druid would be a second person, after Vark, from whom Vara begins learning the Sylvan language. ^^

Looks good! Remember that it's a full round to summon, so if you're summoning on round 3, the creature won't appear until round 4.
Also, as a note, if people could use Archive of Nethys over d20pfsrd, I'd greatly appreciate it! Here's the stats for Leaf Armor there!. D20PFSRD can't use the Golarion IP, so it often loses important fluff (such as specific deities required for certain items and equipment, the proper names of items, and general fluff). In addition, D20PFSRD includes a lot of 3rd Party material that I'm not generally allowing. Archive of Nethys includes the verbatim rules.
For comparison to show what I'm talking about: D20PFSRD version
Official Version
While most of the rules are the same, the Saraenrae requirement is confused. There's other, better examples as well (bloatmages vs. bloodmage), and D20PFSRD is useful in the rules, but I'd just prefer the Golarion IP version since it's available.

That's fine. The one caveat is that Vara will make the centipede appear where it hopefully will be flanking one of the thugs. She thus acts in response to what happens in round 2. ^^
Also, a revision as to where Vara got the armor for the sake of cohesion, the druid Vara met it turns out was either an elf or half-elf. ^^

As a note, I'm happy to say that we've made it over 4 months of PbP gaming! Yay! Also, you are nearly done with Part 2 of the AP (it was a very, very long part). This raid on the Gold Goblin is going to be a fairly lengthy one, so check in regularly so we can keep combat moving. After the raid is done, you'll be leveling up again :D

Hmm, I'd need some lifts for my shoes, a body suit, some makeup, a blonde wig, and a shaving kit... But yeah, I could probably pull it off... :D
Alraniel "Nel" Sandhal |
Slothsy, do you want Nel to post now? That way when Vara posts, all that you have to do is the mooks turn?
Alraniel "Nel" Sandhal |
Hey everyone, FYI I am going on my honeymoon starting tomorrow and I will be getting back the 2nd. I will have a laptop with me and wifi access, but I am unsure on how regularly I will be posting.
I hope the rest of you have a very merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah

Well, silent image itself is a somewhat limited illusion spell. It has no heat, no sound, so the pressure really isn't there like it would be with, say, major images. Also, the big dude just doesn't care. Even if he did, the only set of stairs down... are on the other side of your party, haha! If anything, it gives them more a reason to go all out!
Varknarnost Kettlewidget |
Yeah, I was hoping to impart a sense of urgency or being trapped between a rock and a hard place to maybe incite a surrender.
I like those ideas, but usually when we're in an encounter, the enemies have already had a chance to survey the terrain. Although I do like those options if we ever set up an ambush or the like.
I'm thinking for my next use I might conjure up a winged terror flying through the skies. That is, if we have any outdoor encounters coming up.

Hey, Slothsy, Tamiro was moving to F-5, not D-6. I have moved him, but you may need to reconsider what your fighters are doing.
Slothsy |
Ah, hmm. Yes. That changes things. I'll think on it. Sorry for messing that up!
In that case, Nel would've taken the attacks from Jasker instead as he moves to D6. However, since Jasker did do a legal move, I'm going to have it stand. But, I'll keep it in mind for the future. I forgot to include flanking on the to-hit for those attacks, anyway.

People still recovering from the holidays I would imagine. Although this game does seem to go through periods of furious posting followed up by deadsville so who knows, haha.
Varknarnost Kettlewidget |
Yes, I hope we hear from Vara soon. And I am fine with GMPC. It's pretty obvious what Vark will do in battle as he will probably never attack.
@Nel: I was more responding to Sloth's flavor text of your hit, but nonetheless that made me laugh, haha.

Hey guys, fyi, this is my busiest week of work all year (I'm an academic advisor, and it's the first week of the semester/last week to register for classes - I'm sure you can see why that is!) and I've got our PFS lodge's biggest regional con this weekend, so I'm probably going to be posting only once a day and later at night, rather than morning posts and several times a day. I'll keep checking the thread, though, and looking out for things!

Should we discuss possibly recruiting some new blood for this here adventure? With the disappearance of both Pluck and Vara we seem to have a fairly big void on the caster side of things. Plus it might serve to liven the gameplay a bit more. Thoughts?
Tamiro |
I could take it or leave it personally. I think the biggest gap in general is not so much caster, but ranged damage dealer. Arcane or mundane but with 4 people we are not bad. Nel and I can use strengthened bows. Just got to remember to purchase them.
We have two frontliners, 1 divine, and 1 arcane. We are not too bad off.
If we did want a replacement, I think 1 would be enough.
Alraniel "Nel" Sandhal |
I am in the same boat as Tamiro. Also, at level 8 Nel gain access to casting arcane spells from scrolls as if she was her cavalier level -4. And I can use my linguistics skill in place of spellcraft. I am not too worried.
Mazra of Sandpoint |
We are a long way from 8th level. We are going feel not having an Arcane caster in the party. The extra Divine was OK, but an Arcane spellcaster would be useful. Slothsy could NPC one.
Tamiro |
I have never personally felt at a loss for not having a arcane caster. Evocation spells on average don't do any more damage overall in a battle due to saveing throws, and averages. Just nice burst damage. Identifying items can be done by anyone with spellcraft and detect magic. As for knowledges, Vark is a bard so I am not worried.
Only time I have personally felt the necessity of an arcane caster was once at level 15, and that was so he could null magic himself and everyone.
I have confidence in our awesomeness!
Mazra of Sandpoint |
The character may be young, but the player is not. In my experience, a Wizard or Sorcerer can make a huge difference to a party, and well beyond Evocation spells. They bring powers that none other can adequately reproduce, particularly at range. There is a reason why the typical party has a fighter type, a rogue type, a divine type and an arcane type. Missing any one element could limit the success of the party. Not that it can't be done, it just creates limitations. Let's say we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.
Varknarnost Kettlewidget |
Another way to look at it is the larger our party the more powerful Vark is due to having more people to reap the benefits of his buffs (obviously that won't apply to spells).
Slothsy |
Updated the map, fyi!
Also, I'll consider the matter of recruiting, but I'm comfortable with a 4-person party at the moment. You do have some arcane power at your disposal with Vark, even though he isn't a 9 level caster. There's a point coming up where bringing someone on board may make sense, but this precise moment isn't right for it. I only want to bring someone on board if it's fairly unanimous. Plus, I'm holding out faint hope that Vara may show up again, but I'm not sure if that hope is misplaced.
Alraniel "Nel" Sandhal |

However, adding an additional person will exponentially slow down combat. In addition, we are in a poor place to add someone new to the party. Plus keep in mind that both Tamiro and I have mounts, which is adding another thirty hp to our pool. I am not worried with only having a party of four.
