Valai, did the site access thing get worked out? I haven't associated email addresses to characters except in obvious cases, so I don't know if you ever sent me an email address to add to the access list. If you haven't, just send an email to smoochy.knave@gmail.com. I'll add the source email to the access list and you can sign into the site using that.
You can't see any other part of the site?

Book club night for Pam so it was pathfinder night here with the kids for me. And I killed my son's PC for the first time - that's gotta be some kind of rite of passage for him! PC Ninja killed outright by a big, almost-dead hill giant wielding a small tree.
He took it stoically. Right on the chin. :)
DM Luke |
Selecting the replacement character was the thing that got him over the death. He's a big Pokemon fan, so summoner here we come! Sounds like we're rolling up a new character for Christmas.
As far as revenge is concerned, I suppose I'll learn about that the hard way.
Btw, rommin, you get an aoo, then your full turn.
DM Luke |
I gave the kids lots of options when we hit that spot. Going back to that last damage roll and changing the damage by 1 hp would save his life, the saved game option, rolling up a new character, even taking one of the NPCs we have (LOTS of them in 2 player campaign, and lots in Jade Regent generally), at least until a certain healing item the group possesses could recharge and a resurrection could be performed. I even offered to boot up Iron Gods and start something entirely new. I was pretty happy they wanted to continue JR, and especially that he was mature enough to get excited about another character. Means he's reading a little more of the books...

Happy holidays to all y'all. My family is on the road thru the new year in Virginia, but the game is portable - we can keep going thru the holiday or pick up on the other side of it.
Show of hands? I'll have lots of downtime if there's interest.
Lawson Gerrard |
I'm easy going and planning on being around for the holidays! So I'm more than able to keep posting whenever there is time!
Hope your trip goes great and is a ton of fun!

Missed this, but small world, I'm still a casual pokemon fan myself, although I don't think I can call myself 100% casual when I moderate a pokemon website in my spare time.
DM Luke |
yeah - that's more than casual 8)
He's picked a quadruped base form and is reviewing the evolutions tonight. He has a pool of 10 and wants a badass cat of some type - I don't have a flying chance in hell of having a very good figure for the table. He used to have a big collection of pokemon figures that were about the right size. I need to go poking around for a good fit once I hear what the thing can do. Alternatively, maybe he should try to base it off one of his favorites? Gotta remember to suggest that!
The rules imply that each time the summoner levels he gets to rebuild the composition of the eidolon with the new pool size. Do you know if the base form is supposed to be changeable as well? Or is it once-a-quadrapel always-a-quadraped?
The pokemon flavor just fits so well with the 'return to reclaim the throne of japan' theme of the AP, it was probably inevitable that we dig into summoner before the end of this quest.
Amadia Tien-Mu |
In general (unless I am mistaken), the base form stays, although I believe there is an archtype that lets you change the base type a certain levels of the class. There are quite a few "Badass Cats" in pokemon so he wouldn't have an issue finding inspiration if he wanted to recreate a pokemon (unsure if thats what he wants).
DM Luke |
I hadn't looked at archetypes yet. Thx for that. I have digital versions of the Ultimates with me, so I'll go hunting.
DM Luke |
So Valai and I are Back from holiday. Rommin is up. I'll post for rommin this evening in an attempt to reboot us if we don't have a post from him today. Happy new year! Hopefully we can get our daily pathfinder back on.
DM Luke |
Don't feel too bad. The dice weren't any nicer to those rats that just got barbecued.
Valai Blackrune |
I'm rather glad I loaded up on Burning Hands for today. Hearing we would be dealing with wererats rather swayed me; wererats almost always mean rat swarms. ^^;
That, and my main job in combat is to provide mass destruction, after all. ;)
DM Luke |
Sorry gang. Would have dmpc'd Amadia sooner but I got my tail kicked a bit by work this week. Posting us forward shortly.
DM Luke |
It's a classic low-level slog fight - no one can hit anything. A couple folks on either side can go down with one hit.
In general, feel free to post contingent actions out of order if it's appropriate - to make a marathon combat like this one go faster.
Amadia Tien-Mu |
OOC wise, she really should have a melee weapon, but IC wise, she has never really needed one, relying heavily on her bombs (as a scientist she never experienced much practical combat), ergo, I never put a melee weapon on her sheet. I'll potentially pick up a longspear when I can eventually, just so she can have something to fall back on, but wanted to do so after the character actually realised that she needed one.
DM Luke |
Oh you should have lots to choose from when she gets there. Rommin's a walking armory! ;)
DM Luke |
Sorry for the slow roll folks. Work's murderating me, and we had some homework to do to get Hema ready for primetime.
It's something of a tradition in my family that Pam gets to start off a character with none of the possessions on her character sheet. Welcome to the game for actual, love!
DM Luke |
Apparently a bunch of us are having a tough week! For my own part I've been slammed during the day and chased by work at night this week - so my apologies. I'll do the homework to dmpc players as necessary and get us moving again this afternoon if still no posts from the other players. I'm looking for first round combat actions for Valai, Amadia & Rommin. I'll still supply Afli. :(
Amadia, as that first round was surprise (half round), I'm still holding the resolution of the stirge's attack to its standard action in the current round. I haven't had a chance to update the map but assume it landed wherever you targeted (w/in line of sight for you and w/in its 40' move range to target), used its own half-turn last round to cover the distance, and will use its standard action this round - on your initiative position - to land the attack you've already rolled.
Between the stirge and Rommin, who acts before Lawson, there's a very good chance that Lawson's attack qualifies for flanking bonus and is therefore entitled to sneak attack damage as well. If I need to dmpc Rommin I'll certainly put him in a position for Lawson to easily flank as I'm pretty sure that's Rommin's intention.
DM Luke |
Sorry. I rolled an 18 on the save. No apparent effect as the rat queen attacked Rommin despite the spell.
DM Luke |
No that was you for the surprise round (in which the wererat didn't act). Ayala's first attack kicked off the first full round of combat. You get a full turn.
DM Luke |
Ok. I totally retract what I wrote to Lawson upthread. Not only did I fail to read your post carefully (you attacked the rat - not the wererat), but I failed to look at the map and realize how impractical it was to get a flank in this turn. Sorry bout that! :/
Lawson Gerrard |
No worries! Let me know if you need me to change my actions for the round! I've been a little crunched with work, and happily enough preparing for a job interview which could make life easier. At least the regular schedule and sleep part of it.
Fingers crossed.
Lawson Gerrard |
Scrambled from an odd sleeping pattern, but did I take extra damage from somewhere? Just working off the other post, 5 Damage would put Lawson at 9 hp after the healing that he got. Just not sure where the 2 HP came from.
I am so very tired however and I could be all wrong.
DM Luke |
You're more awake than I am! Lawson you're correct - sorry for docking you 7 hp! Your current total is 9.
Valai Blackrune |
Terry Pratchett passed away today.
Not due to suicide, but due to Alzheimer-related complications.
At least he leaves us before the disease could steal his mind away.
Rest in peace, Sir Terry.
DM Luke |
Ya, I saw that news.
Alzheimer's took my grandmother, and the ordeal of watching that process unfold led my grandfather to take his own life. It is a terrible disease to watch - mental degradation in slow motion - and leaves the loved ones with terribly hard choices to make at the end.
Lawson Gerrard |
Heyo, checking in with everyone here! I don't want to push things along too fast without everyone being able to add in their two cents!
What are our overall options? Make sure the area is clear, take the prisoners back, and bring back supplies for the night?
Lawson is ready and able to help out to keep things moving! :D
Rommin Hawkridge |
As a character, Rommin wouldn't be feeling in a position to make those decisions, or even necessarily weigh in on them. He is still very much in his 'soldier' frame of mind.
As a player, yes, I would endorse sending back prisoners, perhaps getting supplies, and sending a note back to our Pathfinder benefactor. We should let her know what we've learned and how far we've gotten in case she has advice or cautions. Also, it is kind of our duty to update her so that if we fail, she can send others to finish the job. But I don't think those are observations that Rommin would come up with. :)
