Trystan draws his rapier, takes a 5 foot step to 10,15 and attacks the thug next to him

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

1d6 ⇒ 5

Critical!? Additional +1 for confirmation from Anatomist trait

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Additional damage 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8

Lia sits under the table with her dagger in her hand. She desperately tries to clear her eyes as she huddles away from the crowd's trampling feet.

And here ends my second round of blindness. Can I get anyone anything? Bake a cake? Hatch an egg? Build anyone a house? I've got some time on my hands here....

Trystan, I'm a tad confused by your post, but I think in the end it does not matter. You definitely threaten with the 20 and confirm on a 15. And 11 points of damage is enough to take him down. But the additional damage should only have been 1d6. The x2 only entitles you to one extra damage die.

Trystan steps into his strike and catches the thug battling Isegrim by complete surprise. The blade runs the man through and he collapses in a gasping heap.

Lia, I would appreciate it if you would get in the kitchen and bake me a pie!

Isegrim...

Quite right, sorry 'bout that. My pen-n-paper character is a barbarian who gets x3 with his great axe. I confused the two.

(Male Human Fighter 1)

Seeing Trystan has his situation well in hand, Isegrim steps into (13,14) and brings his sword around in a powerful thrust at the thief running for the door.

Power Attack
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Damage
2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 2) + 7 = 15

(Male Human Fighter 1)

At the last moment Isegrim realizes it is a woman he is attacking and as memories and shame wash over him from the loss of his sister, his attack goes wide.

Do I not receive the benefit of Bless when I cast it on the "party" Luke? Checking, never played a cleric before..

There's a good alphabetical list on the campaign site..
http://sites.google.com/site/pathfindershadowinthesky/spells-a-z

Bless
School enchantment (compulsion) [mind-affecting]; Level cleric 1, paladin 1
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, DF
Range 50 ft.
Area The caster and all allies within a 50-ft. burst, centered on the caster
Duration 1 min./level
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes (harmless)
Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.
Bless counters and dispels bane.

The woman continues through the crowd toward the front entrance of the casino. Isegrim, you are entitled to an attack of opportunity.

(Male Human Fighter 1)

Isegrim shakes off his personal demons and redirects the momentum of his missed thrust into a vicious roundhouse swipe.

Power Attack + Bless
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Power Attack Damage
2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 5) + 7 = 17

Isegrim's heavy blade makes lethal contact with the fleeing thief sending her sprawling in a bloody pinwheel into a group of blind gamblers.

"Thuvalia!" the trailing mage calls out. He shoots a look of pure malice your way, then incants. He flicks his hand in curt anger and the door to the imp's cage pops open. The imp cackles with glee.

The last remaining thug makes a half-hearted stab at Brenin as he sidles in the direction of the doors.

Rees's turn.

Wait a minute...I really wanted to be next to the mage in that last round. Attacks of Opportunity and all that. See my earlier posts. Could I not do that?

Not sure what to do as Brenins move would change mine. Let me know if I should wait for his AoO or not.

Sorry Chris. I forgot to move you on the map and then acted with the villains. I'm pretty sure the only thing it changes is that he'll 5'step away from you, rather than moving with his full move and provoking an AoO. I'll post the updated map and then Rees can act.

Not a problem. Thanks.

For DM:
Just a quick question. My interpretation was that casting a spell provoked an AoO. My intent was to step up to him to force him to withdraw or use a conventional weapon as opposed to being able to get a cheap shot off at me or someone else. Either way, I'm good with just moving forward with Rees's turn. Just trying to clarify for later on.

I'm a little confused, but I think it's my turn. Just to be sure I will put it behind a spoiler. Luke let everyone know if they can read it or not.

For DM:
I move to 14,19(next to Brennin) and shake my wrist at the ugly imp. Ahhh, want to come out and play do you. I aim my Ray O Enfeeb with a 12+3=15. If that does the trick my d6 is a 4. Not sure if I get that plus one we were discussing last post or not or if I get any bonus to anything because of that bless thing earlier.

Rees:

I think you're out of 1st level spells. Mage armor & 1 ray vs the thug that stabbed Brenin. Your zero level spells are the ones that are unlimited. Your also have your hex.

Brenin:
Didn't see your question until Pam pointed it out this morning. The key lies in the sequence of his actions. You would end up beside him on your turn. On his turn he takes a 5' step away from you (no AoO), then casts his spell once he's outside the area you threaten.

sorry, still learning the witch. I am still moving to that spot.
Ahh, want to come out and play do you. You were lucky for me earlier. Please, come play with us. I can feel my eyes start to glow as I give the imp my evil eye. I shake off the fact that I sound a lot like mom.

For DM:
Since I am sure the rest of the party doesn't know about my eye thing I put it behind the spoiler. I will chat with you later on this. Basically I am causing dout in the imp and I get to choose my -2 penalty. I am going with attack roll this time. it says it last for 3 plus my INT modifier which is a +4. It says a will save reduces this to one round. Doesn't look like I have to roll anything.

Some say that to a proper crone, the magical release of a hex is a pleasurable experience. The evil eye Rees unleashes on this little imp makes her freckles burn. He turns around in surprise to face Rees.

The wizard cries off. "I yield! Give over Pram!" he calls to the man fighting Brenin. "These boys'll cut us down." He casts a mournful look toward the wrecked woman.

Brenin and Trystan may act. Only the wizard has offered his surrender.

What about the last one to take a swing at me? Something about him sidling towards the door. Also, what's the status on the imp and the cage? Is he in/out of it, fully out, fully in? What about the locking mechanism? I'll make a perception check. 10+2=12.

For DM:
Yeah, I would also like to know specifics RE: the imp before I name my actions as I'm close and speak his language.

Perception check (if needed) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

The thug fighting Brenin (Pram) has said nothing and does not act until after your turn. The sidling was just a 5' step in the direction of the doors. His position on the map is correct.

The imp is still in the cage as his turn to act has not come around since the cage door was opened. Apparently the cage was just fastened shut as you see only a latch, not a lock on the cage door.

I turn to face 'Pram'. "You heard the man, yield or I'll cut you down." I hold off on any actions to see what else happens and delay until after the thug acts. In case of attack, I'll opt for a purely defensive posture, +4AC

For DM:
Two things. 1) Are you allowing a diagonal move from 10,17 to 11,18 and 2) will I be able to shut the cage from 11,18 (adjacent)?

No need to spoiler those types of questions unless I'm missing something. The answers are yes and no. Given that everyone's paying double movement, I have no issue with your move. But the cage floor is eight feet above the stage height, so I don't see you closing the cage this round without the aid of magic.

Trystan's first impulse is to heal the wounded but he knows the imp could respark this fight. He moves to 11,18, readies an attack should the nasty creature not listen to him and says "Stay put little devil. If you try to leave that cage I promise it will be the last act you ever take" in it's infernal tongue.

The imp barks a laugh then disappears. The cage lurches and the door swings wildly as the now invisible creature launches itself out of the cage. Trystan you can take an AoO, but there's both a negative to the attack (out of reach) and the miss chance for invisibility.

The last thief lowers his weapon in surrender.

"Ok, everyone!" a voice calls out by the front door. "Please, there's no need for panic."

Saul is standing by the entrance, a rapier in his hand. Behind him is a swarthy dwarf with a crossbow, the bolt trained squarely on the chest of the mage. One of the door guards retrieves the miniature chest from where the dead woman dropped it. Saul accepts the little thing and holds it up meaningfully.

"Thanks to these folks," here he gestures at your group of five, "the prize is recovered!"

AoO 1d20 ⇒ 4

Whiff!

Sheathing his rapier, Trystan takes little notice in Saul as he surveys the aftermath.

How many of our opponents are still breathing? Trystan is not the type who would let a common thief die out of pure spite. He will use his sacred touch trait to stabilize any of them that are suffering and let the authorities sort them out (as soon as he can act)

Lia can finally see. She takes a look around and realizes that while she wasn't actually a part of the fighting, she could have been. This is too good an opportunity to pass up. With dagger in hand she wades through the gamblers and drinkers that are in various states on the floor and heads toward the closest guard or ruffian, whichever comes first. This was why she came here.

Move me wherever is most convenient to be counted as a "helper".

Well Brennin, who knew you could be such a fun date....Shall we join the rest of our do gooder friends over there?

I give her a suprised look. "Do most of your dates survive their first encounter with you or is my luck finally changing tonight? No matter. I couldn't leave now. Lead on." I fall in beside her as we head toward Saul.

Trystan is able to save the two thugs who fell to Isegrim. The woman and the man Brenin fought are too far gone to be stabilized.

Saul reaches the podium and tosses the miniature chest casually onto the floor. There's a minor flash, that causes an angry murmur in a crowd only just regaining its eyesight, and the chest is restored to its rightful size.

Still several of the patrons call out in angry protest over the lack of security.

"Most irregular it is! I'll have back my real silver back Saul... afore that real devil lights on my shoulder and sticks his little thorn in my neck!" This from a well-armed naval man still trying to shake off the spots. Many other patrons look around the spacious ceiling in fear.

The guards gather the surrendered and the healed by the podium, reinforcing Saul as they do. Saul calls over the heads of the stirring crowd, placating the air with his hands.

"Too right, captain! Peace, friends. The Gold Goblin cannot prevent the criminally mad from taking the main chance. But we will make it right for our guests, and would have done so... even had these heroes not appeared to save our collective hams." He smiles benevolently at the group, which now includes an extra half elf.

"The goblin will return 110 per cent on all chips held!" This causes the briefest stir as mental calculations are run. To a crowd so filled with men paid on shares, this is easy stuff. Many an angry frown clears to complacency.

Heads turn as the gendarmes arrive at the casino doors. It looks like a full patrol, at least 8 armed men led by an officer.

"Gather round if you were hurt during this little raid my friends, I would heal you now" says Tyrstan. He waits for those in need to get within 30', holds up his hold symbol and recites something about how great Cayden is.

Channel energy 1d6 ⇒ 6

How many HP does that leave you short Brenin?

Still down 2. Hold off on using any more spell points for the time being. Let's see what happens next.

"Much obliged and well met friend. Name's Brenin."

"Glad to meet you, stranger. You're a handy one to have around in a pinch. And who is your exotic looking friend here?", Trystan says with a wink towards Rees.

Lia walks over to where Trystan and Isegrim are. She looks over the newcomers with the practiced eye of a thief. She sees a city-dweller that may not just be another pretty face, and a man that hasn't been in town long enough to have the 'shiny' rubbed off him. "Introductions are all well and good, but any idea where our caged friend has gone?"

"Thugs and bandits I understand...disappearing devil things, not so much."

The gendarmes filter into the crowd, taking in the post-combat carnage. Saul stalls the officer for a moment and re-addresses the crowd.

"Please good people, gather your chips and the cashier will cash you out. Boys, get these funds back to the cashier to be distributed." He pats the chest and the dwarf begins directing the moving of the chest.

Saul turns back to the gendarme and begins explaining what happened. The guards clap the would-be thieves in irons as the officer listens to Saul's explanation. Though you cannot hear what he's saying over the disturbed crowd, the officer looks up to take you five in. He signals and others of his group come to join and comes over to where you stand, Saul tailing the group with a troubled look on his face.

"You lot fought off the thieves, then?" the officer asks. "As you are the ones who have slain these two," this with a motion toward the two corpses on the floor, "you will need to come with me to answer questions."

"What!? No, officer, that will never do." Saul interrupts. "These people are my guests... they've defended this business, and money rightfully belonging to half of Riddleport. You can't question and hold them like criminals."

He takes the officer by the elbow and walks him a few paces back toward the podium, speaking once again in the young man's ear.

"What the hell? Something fishy's going on here? I have no intention of going to jail tonight for the killing of those thieves. I don't what Saul's telling them, but it better be good." I move in close to the others and keep my sword drawn.

"We were merely doing our civic duty tonight officer. What must be discussed now that could not be discussed.. soon?" says Trystan, hoping he has bartended to one of these nine men. "These poor souls surely have family that could be notified."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

I'm Reese, you guys were pretty good out there. Anyone thinking we should slink off before they decide to take us in for questioning. I'm not sure Saul has the power to help us that much...

(Male Human Fighter 1)

After a lengthy catching of breath and compartmentalizing the guilt of killing the woman, Isegrim wipes his raven blade clean and re-sheaths it.

He makes sure Lia has recovered and then gestures to the carnage as he gives Trystan a look the priest understands to mean, "I told you so."

He arrives at Trystan's side as Rees and Brennin are introduced. Isegrim bows to the former and clasps forearms with the latter.

Isegrim looks over to where Saul and the guards are and attempts to determine how their discussion seems to be going.

Perception
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

I was able to stabilize the old man and the woman, Isegrim doesn't have their lives on his conscience.

oh, I guess I read that wrong. thanks!

As usual, I'm confused. Four thugs, a mage and a spell casting woman with a gun to begin with. I know the mage and a thug(Pram) survived. Who else survived?
