This is the way I saw the turn. The immediate action power that Trystan's invoking goes against the AoO he provokes when he reloads the xbow. In this case, this power he gains by choosing the APG subdomain of Love - which is one of the ones for his god, so we're all copacetic so far.
I failed the save roll against that as the bad guy, so I lost that attack. I only have one AoO to give per turn, so nothing anyone does for the rest of the turn around me provokes an AoO. So Trystan gets away with the spell as well without provoking an AoO. And 5' steps never provoke them.
From the perspective of Trystan's turn, he used a standard action (Doom spell), a move-equivalent action (reload xbow), and a 5' step. He gets to take the 5' step because he didn't physically move with any of the other actions in his turn.
So Trystan may have just won the prize for the most accomplished in a turn - or he would have had I not saved vs the spell.
Parrying Isegrim's powerful swing nearly knocks the blade from his opponent's hand, and leaves a red gash on his thigh. The swing is too wild and perhaps the opponent too canny to be taken by the follow-through though.
Rees levels a painted nail at the blond guy (the only one not in melee) and casts ray of enfeeblement. The beam strikes the thug and he visibly wilts under the assault of negative energy.
Brenin and Lia's man fails to connect with any offense of his own. The same cannot be said for the the man Isegrim fights. The fighter again feels the sting of the longsword he wields. 9 more points of damage for Isegrim.
That's three nines on attacks between those two. What are the odds?
Brenin lunges in hard with his shield arm to prevent the man from twisting away and brings his sword up into his midsection from below.1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21.
Basically by adopting the Love subdomain, T has found a way to exist in close quarters without getting destroyed with AoO's. Firing into any melee puts him at -2 overall anyway, so these close quarter situations really suck for him. Expect more casting/buffing.
What about Isegrims first attack Luke, with a 24 to hit? Did he at least do his 9 points to "leathers"?
"We should fall back to Lia! We are at a disadvantage here!" shouts Trystan to his nearby companions.
See what splitting the party does Sis? Now you have to come save your boyfriend..
Trystan, fearing for Isegrim's life, channels energy to all wounded party members in reach.
Channel 1d6 ⇒ 2
He finishes with a 5' step back to 11/3 in case Brenin comes a runnin'. Oh, and Adoration again if TD attacks me before my next turn. Shake, shake, shake..
Side note, what do you think of the new Hero Points Luke? Keystone Cops like us could probably use them at times like this.
Wheeling from the blow landed against Black Leathers Isegrim slashes out at Two Daggers, blood clouding his vision, and pain a syren singing as he seeks to end this pointed eared bastards song. The Raven's Blade hungers for blood even as Isegrim's stains the floor.
Umm. What about my turn? Out of sight, out of mind?
Lia steps out into the hall to see the melee. (7,3) She realizes there is a big jam in the hall. She sees if the door next to her will open so she can get out of the way for the men-folk.
Wow this isn't working out the way we thought it would at all!
Friday night. Luke, Pam and Chris, are you all hanging out tonight? Brendan and I are as our lives are separated by a floor. Nice cool Fall breeze tonight and several beverages, dogs underfoot.
By the way, not moving just yet. Scored a good job here, start Monday. Programmer/Technician/Installer for a growing company that makes control systems for water management. Most contracts are with municipalities and system saves them money. Super excited. Just wanted to share.
A note for you whispered from the DM into my ear...would you rather be at (10,3)? Trystan moved for you.
Sure, but only if it doesn't open me up to an AoO which I'm pretty sure it does. If I have the advantage of cover against that attack then maybe I'd do it anyway. If not, I'll take 9,3 and a 5' step before my next attack.

Congrats on the job. Everyone but me lives right next door to each other. I'm the lone man out. Tried to get my wife to join our group but she said no.
Congrats on the job! You get to pay for the first round of drinks if we ever meet up! For those of you that actually know Melissa on sight, she came through surgery yesterday just fine. She should be out of the hospital in the next few days. Luke and I will continue to play Rees for her, and then I get to don my nurse costume and help out. Sponge bath, anyone?
Chris, looks like you have to find someone out there in keystone to join the game. :(
Congrats to both of our teams, eh? AJ Green got his in the second half and almost single-handedly beat us. I sure hope he goes pro. I love that game (UF v UGA), but I despise that city. Don't know how you lived there, Chris. Every time I go there, that town gives me a new reason to hate it.
Should be us v. Gamecocks for the right to go to Atlanta. Sure sucks that Steve's on the wrong side of the ball for this one.
Brenin, the last square does not provoke because you can't attack around corners. So (10,3) would be fine - except that you move before Trystan. A map update in time with this post will clarify.
Trystan:
Assuming you know channeling energy heals your living opponents as well.
You could delay your turn until after Rees, let Rees move into the corner, then move by her to the stairs and heal Isegrim with a spell. I'm NPCing Rees right now anyway, and I think that move would have been more obvious at the table.
Only a seasoned fighter could take the blow Isegrim delivers to his target and remain standing. Black leathers is staggered, but recovers in time to parry the deathblow away.
'Pap!, Kill this guy already, eh?' he screams at the man behind Isegrim, a distinct note of panic in his voice.
Again, Isegrim's second attack fails to draw blood and leaves the big fighter's defenses compromised...
Still standing, who is this guy?!? Last time I checked we are all second level characters.
No I didn't know that, I thought I could choose my channel recipients.
I don't have any healing spells or potions and this three person shuffle is getting way to micromanagey for a slow PBP. Do whatever makes the most sense and keeps us moving. If Rees has a way of healing Grim all the better.
A long time ago, I counted all the money/treasure and purchased two Cure Moderate Wounds potions. Brenin's got one. I posted the complete count on the discussion page. No one ever claimed the second potion to my knowledge. Rees opted to buy her own two potions. Thus, either Lia, Trystan or Isegrim is toting a potion. We should decide where this is before moving too much further. DM's input/executive decision?
Re: No healing spells, unless you have no more spells to give, you always have healing spells. As a cleric, you can spontaneously convert any memorized spell to a healing spell of that level. However, I'm not changing anyone's actions from one thing to another in the interest of speed. We'll just go with your declared actions...
Chris, executive action taken. By random die roll, Isegrim has the remaining potion.
Rees levels a withering gaze at the enemy with two daggers. The others are deferring to this guy, so he must be in charge. Two daggers fails a Will save vs Evil Eye. -2 to attack for 7 rounds.
Both the enemies north of Isegrim beat a retreat through the door behind them. There's an angry shout of protest from the room beyond as they pass out of sight. Withdraw actions for both of these.
Trystan, see the Core class description under spontaneous casting.
Brenin stabs two daggers in the back of his thigh. In return he slices at Isegrim as he attempts to dodge past the big fighter and his giant sword. With a quick step Isegrim cuts off the escape attempt. 1 hp damage done to Isegrim (no sneak attack this time). He then fails an Acrobatics attempt to move through Isegrim's square.
"Get your worthless asses back here!" he calls after the fleeing men.
Umm. Methinks the DM should look up proper pronoun usage in the Core Grammar Book.
Lia moves down the hallway to where the action is. (9, 3) She wants to join the fight, but with such close quarters it's impossible. As she peeks around the corner to plot her next move, she sees her father engaged with Brenin. "Beltias, you worthless bastard! Brenin, move your ass so I can have a go at Pops, here!"
Ya, sorry. That should have been Two Daggers, not two daggers. Might have been confusing if you thought that stabbing himself in the ass then going after his friends was out of character for Brenin. Brenin hit Beltias (Two Daggers). Then Beltias hit Isegrim, and attempted to tumble through Isegrim's square but failed.
Surgery went well. I am able to handle my own character again. Look what happens to you guys when I go away. Oh well, I have my new pink running shoes on and am ready to make a swift retreat if necessary. Kick some butt Isegrim.
Bleeding his life blood upon the worn floor, Isegrim swings around to the old bastard who has been bleeding him from behind. "Enough old man! Your scum has run from the doom that The Raven sings!"
Ummm.. yeah, I will wait for that result before I declare anything. Happy Time Change everyone. Glad to have you back Mel. Congrats on the win Gators and yay for our 1 point vic.
I grab Beltias by his hair and pull his head back and put my sword to his throat. "You're on the top of my list, my not-yet-dead list. Larur's safe return might move you off of it or at least down a few notches. Call off your boys with your next breath or it will be your last."
Lia steps into full view. "Well, old man, how's it feel to be at the mercy of your enemies? Kind of reminds me of all the good times we had growing up. What'd you do with the woman? And can we use you to bargain with Zincher? Start talking, or my friend here will make sure you are just another spot on this filthy floor."
Oh, for Pete's sake, I need sleep and a shower. Start talking now Pops or I'm going to kill you myself. i give a good eye glow just for effect. Pissed off female roll= 20 Your wife & kids can vouch for the roll. Not sure if I can add anything to it.
"I doubt very seriously he's worth anything to Zincher. We should kill him now and go down the hall and talk to the bird man. He'll probably give us all the information we need. Then we can send one of Beltias's ears to Zincher via pigeon."
Beltias's face loses a little color as Rees peeks up over the top of the steps and levels her threat.
"What's Kraune to do with this?"
Rees:
He plainly just recognized the connection between Rees and her mother and concluded that the elder witch has thrown in with Saul.
"Look," he glances at each of you then settles on Trystan, "I played this thing just like Clegg ordered, right? The girl got sold to some oily mage. Name was Rondo."
I leave Beltias on the floor surrounded by the group and move off to inspect the rest of the rooms. I'll start at 7,8, then 7,9 then check on the old man.
Ok. You guys use your skills. Perception checks for searching. Diplomacy/Bluff/Sense Motive/Intimidate as appropriate based on how you're approaching conversation.
Lia digests all of this. "Well, since Larur is already dead, it seems Zincher holds no threat for us this time." She looks at her dad on the floor and makes a decision. "It would seem Beltias isn't useful to us after all. Do what you want with him boys." She turns her back to join in the search. As an afterthought to Brenin, "Who's the bird man?"
That is, unless Beltias has something interesting to add to the mix? I'll go back down the hallway and start my search with the guard I fought. And you would like rolls, but my sheet and dice are at home, next door, so I'll get to it later.
