Classic Monsters Revisited: Why is the bugbear CR 3?

Like the title asks. The bugbear's stats didn't change at all from the SRD, but the bugbear's been revised from CR 2 to CR 3. As a CR 2 creature, the bugbear is middling. Not as scary as a choker, let's say, but balanced. As a CR 3... way too weak.

Was this a misprint?

They have stealthy instead of alertness.

Dunno if that justifies the change in CR, but that DID change. :)

Actually... the bugbear is still CR 2. That's a typo in the book, it would appear. :(

So yeah. Bugbear = CR 2.
