Sometimes in life you just have to take a step back, calm down and think what would a barbarian do?
Would orcs be able to see (hear or smell is a different thing) us in the night if we were more than 60 feet away, even without concealment?
Could we have just said - oK, we're sneaking up (Stealth rolls still needed since they can hear us, or smell us), using darkness as a cover, until we were much closer, and then jumped them? Or am I wrong?
Orcs have 60' darkvision where you cannot use stealth at all unless you are invisible or have cover. After that, they can see another 60' shadowy illumination, where there is a 20% miss chance and you can roll opposed stealth rolls. But you would have had to wait for night/darkness to set in. Instead Menas set off the action.
Waiting is hard, barbarians don't like waiting. Hostage situations demand action!
I have no problem with it, I like action/combat!
These are not common orcs, that javlin hit should have took a normal orc down. Not worried though, the rules clearly state barbarians > orcs, lets just hope they are not orc barbarians!
With his 20' move rate, Kwin will get to the action a little later than most of the bigguns, but that's okay. It gives him a chance to get a good measure of those he'll be fighting.

I have finally arrived from my drive. Yes, my move is 20 with heavy armor. I'll update my character for you soon. I did post all my gear. I guess I did not add it to my profile. I have a heroforge character sheet I am working from. Sorry.
He wears a +1 Agile Breastplate (7) with an armored kilt (1) and has a dex modifier of +2 for a total of 20.
Did you end up in front of my Just? I think there might be some arrows heading our way. I think I'm going to javlin the same orc again so we're not getting shot by archers too much, if your adjacent to me btw Just i can use my shield bearer trait on you if you need it.

Justified had a higher init than Menas so move up a double move (40) towards the orcs. I do not know if I can move through the cover so I was letting our DM place me. If you throw, you would only move 30 I think. But since you are 5' closer than me I think you could be beside me. Shield bearer sounds great.
Well i moved 30ft before my first throw so if you headed 40ft forward i think you might be the target. Might be worthwhile next time advancing with your shield out until you get to use your polearm.
I'm just hoping my small size and relatively unarmed status will make Kwin a less desirable target. You know, belying the truly epic menace he presents to the orcs. :p
Are we still waiting for Just to resolve his equipment issue or are we on the weekend hiatus? Cause we normally get a few posts over the weekend anyway i'm not sure who we're waiting for. ;-)
I'd say we're waiting for Lucendar (no hurry mate, I'm not rushing anyone) and his orcs to come swarming us :-(

As to Justified's armor class: As I posted above it should be 20 and not 18, The breastplate is enchanted to +1 (see 1000 gp price), And I have added an armored kilt, which adds another +1 and makes the armor heavy. But I guess this not good enough for that arrow to miss me so it changes nothing for the moment.
This is strictly OOC but it appears that at least the archers are Rangers with favored enemy Human...

I just noticed i ms typed my init bonus, it should be +2 not +3. I'll change it when i get to a pc and can edit my profile.
Bleh, little options left for Hat for this turn - I can blindly charge two orcs at R9-10 ahead of everyone else, and get shred to pieces, with my -2 to AC due to charge, and their 2 Ready actions (my, my, you have such big swords), but since none of you guys are able to "synch" with Hat in this turn, then I do not really consider this an option.
So, I'll wait for Kwin/Quain to post, and then I will probably just advance with Ready action set, or maybe throw shurikens. If I am not mistaken I can move my full movement (30') and still throw 2 of them in a round with Flurry, due to their description "treated as ammo for the purposes of drawing them" - is this a correct assumption?
You cannot move and flurry since it is a full attack action, you can only 5ft step amd flurry.
You are absolutely correct my friend, I had something in the back of my mind that you can flurry with them (which is a legal option), and since they are treated as ammo, you can use them even on lvl.1 to have two attacks at your higher (monk/flurry) BAB.
However, Flurry is clearly a full round option so no "shuriken rain" for me, unless I move only 5'.

Yeah, i could see what you were thinking. You can rain death with the shuriken but not move at the same time sadly. I think depending on what Quain and Kwin do raining shuriken death on the archers might be the best plan still.
With 10' range increase raining death with shurikens is almost a guaranteed "no option", except in rare situations that I can not, or do not want to, reach the enemy, falling short for just a few squares. At 80+ feet, shurikens are just a waste of attack for me, I'd rather be at Ready stance to receive potential orc charge.
Hmm, that is a point. Your not exactly going to be hitting much with them at the range we're fighting at. Hopefully Quain dropped the first archer, i can shield justified and he can trip the orcs if they charge us. Then its a melee fight while quain duels the other archer.

If all these Orcs have 2 PC class levels we are in trouble though, those 4 falchion users could drop 2 of us quite easily if they take 3+ hits each to kill like the archers.

You forget the orc ferocity: they keep on fighting until they die.
for next round, what would you have me do?I can start firing on the next archer or try to injure the two central orcs.
Ah, yes ferocity is probably what is keeping him up. But he moved and fired last turn and feroicty makes you staggered so i assumed that he wasn't in negative HP yet.
I'd focus the archer to see if we can take him down.

I am not certain, and I think the answer is a No, but let me check here - can Hat charge moving first to U3 and then diagonally towards other archer (N10)?

Menas, since you can not charge M2 archer orc, leave him to me (I have him in a straight line), while you and Quain focus on the other with long range weapons. What do you say?

This thread just showed back up on my list of active games, so you must have done something to reactivate it. But it did not show as having any new posts in the discussion. I would love to pick this back up and think others might too. The game was liked well enough that you could easily recruit others that almost made it to join if that is what it took to continue.

Hater has been absent from our kingmaker game for a quite long period of time now so i suspect that he is going to be gone for a good while. I know his work takes him travelling so he might be unable to check his pms.
