Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

End of Round 2:
Xarethi charges the sailor but misses him with her touch

Round 3:
Kowaru drops ladder and fights defensively
Aeronniell climbs ladder
Ialda swings flail at sailor but misses
Chez climbs ladder

Sailors' Turn:

The sailor that Xarethi just charged, draws his rapier and tries to stab her but she ducks beneath his blow!

Spoiler:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The sailor on Ialda evades her flail and thrusts his rapier into her chest, drawing blood!

Spoiler:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23..possible critical
Confirmation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12..no confirmation
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The sailor guarding the stairs charges Kowaru, drawing his rapier, but the monk avoids the clumsy blow!

Spoiler:
1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8

Vark shoots the unbalanced Xarethi, wounding her deeply in the chest, as she passes out from the pain and falls to the floor! He yells, "Keep on mates, these fools will fall.." "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Suddenly, a female high pitched scream is heard from down below! Vark says, "What the...."

Spoiler:
1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 4 = 11..hit (AC 10 due to charge)
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Hit Point summary:
Aeronniell: 6/8
Chez: Full
Ialda: 9/14
Kowaru: Full
Xarethi: -1/6

Need stabilization roll from Xarethi and on to Round 4 and Kowaru, Aeronniell, and Ialda! For those climbing, it will take a move action to get on board and then you are free to act. Don't forget to add +1 for Bless.

Updated Combat Map

HP 14/14; AC 12/12/10; F+1, R+3, W+3 Init +2, Perception +0

Oww.

Stabilize: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

"You shouldn't have done that, you bastard.". Ialda swings again at the sailor.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

"Hurry, sister!" Kowaru calls over the side to Aeronniell. "Xarethi has fallen!" While Vark is distracted by the scream, Kowaru races towards him, diving over the sailor's swing. Once to Vark, he pulls back his right hand, his belly rumbling as he focuses his chi. His hand lashes out and strikes Vark on the forehead with his index and middle finger, striking not at the man's head, but his chakra.

Mechanics:

Attempt to use Acrobatics to avoid the sailor's threatened area, then move towards Vark, end up at J7, and attack using my Touch of Serenity feat. If it hits, Vark will need to make a DC 13 Will save or take no action for 1 round.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Kowaru - some confusion on my part, as I was not clear so I apologize. Squares I 7-9 as well as any squares west are not on the same level as the rest of the boat (10' up); they are up the stairs located at I6. So you cannot melee attack Vark from J7. You can change/amend your action with this new information.

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

Ah, that makes sense, he's firing at us from the sterncastle. That will, in fact, change my action.

...or, at least, that's what Kowaru would do if he could get to Vark this round. Instead, he unleashes several snap kicks at the sailor that swung at him.

Mechanics:

So, instead of all that, flurry of blows on this guy.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Need Aeronniell's standard action since it takes a move action to get on the deck of the ship.

F HP30/30 AC18 T12 FF13 F3 R4 W4/6 Init+3 Perc+9/+11 Oracle 4 (Stargazer)

Round 3

Aeronniell climbs up the ladder to the ship's decks, joining her friends in their attempt to secure the main deck. Seeing Xaerthi down, she aims the next arrow at her attacker.

Move action to get on the deck.

Attack (longbow, point blank): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Status:
6/8 HP

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Actually, we're in Round 4 and it's a move action to get on board and a move action to retrieve the bow.

Kowaru's flurry of blows lands one solid kick to the sailor's stomach but he's still up, while Ialda's swing is high and misses.

Round 4 Sailors' Turn:
The sailor on Ialda thrusts his rapier at her but misses badly. He retreats to Q8.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4..miss!

The sailor on Kowaru also swings but the half-orc easily sidesteps the blow. He then retreats to N8.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6..miss!

The crossbowman reloads and shoots Ialda in the shoulder with a bolt, staggering the half-elf!
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17..hit!
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Vark moves 5', reloads his crossbow, and shoots Aeronniell, but thankfully misses her. He curses his aim and yells, "Keep on mates, we've almost got 'em!"
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9..miss!

Chez' move action to get aboard and standard action? Then on to Round 5!

Updated Combat Map

HP 12; AC 19/15/14; F +3, R +4, W +0; Init +4; Perception +0; 2-W Fighter 1

Chez climbs aboard and looks aghast when he sees that Xarethi has fallen. His normal jovial expression turns to a look of anger and hate. He draws his blades and prepares to advance towards the nearest threat.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Kowaru, Aeronniell, and Ialda are up in Round 5!

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

Um, didn't I knock the guy that moved to N8 out? I thought I was just fighting the crossbowman.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

You are right, I put -7 next to wrong guy; just move crossbow guy 5' west and ignore the other guy.

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

No worries!

Kowaru follows the crossbowman as he retreats, his fists flying, pressing his advantage with every feint and strike, bobbing and weaving to prevent the man from getting a good shot. As he lays several powerful blows, he spares a glance to Chez. "Aid Ialda if you can, brother!" He then turns back to his foe and whispers audibly, his jaw clenched. "Vark is mine."

Mechanics:

5' step to L7, flurry of blows on the crossbowman at K6.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Confirmation on Attack 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Damage 1: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage 2: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Extra Damage 2 (if confirmation is successful): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

Now with a crossbow bolt sticking out of her, Ialda wasn't quite as arrogant as she had previously been. She advances on the sailor and swings again.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Both sailors go down, one in a flurry of powerful blows that fracture nose and teeth, the other in a heap as a powerful flail bashes in his skull! Aeronniell is up!

F HP30/30 AC18 T12 FF13 F3 R4 W4/6 Init+3 Perc+9/+11 Oracle 4 (Stargazer)

Aeronniell takes aim at the next available thug on deck, moving to line up a straight shot into the one standing near Xarethi.

Attack (longbow, point blank, bless): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Round 5 Sailors' Turn:

Vark screams in anger at seeing Kowaru and Ialda take down two of his men and yells at the last remaining crossbowman, "I want their heads on pikes, now!"

The sailor, filled with fear, reloads his crossbow and fires a bolt at Ialda, nicking her on the shoulder.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Vark reloads his crossbow as well and seeing the archer, shoots Aeronniell in the chest, the bolt penetrating deeply, as blood spurts onto the deck! "Take that!" Stunned by the pain, Aeronniell struggles to maintain consciousness. Dropped to 0 hps, she is now disabled.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Ialda:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19..You hear noises from below deck, as something big is making its way up!

Disabled:
A character with 0 hit points, or one who has negative hit points but has become stable and conscious, is disabled. A disabled character may take a single move action or standard action each round (but not both, nor can he take full-round actions, but he can still take swift, immediate, and free actions). He moves at half speed. Taking move actions doesn't risk further injury, but performing any standard action (or any other action the GM deems strenuous, including some free actions such as casting a quickened spell) deals 1 point of damage after the completion of the act. Unless the action increased the disabled character's hit points, he is now in negative hit points and dying.

Updated Combat Map

Chez to close Round 5, as Xarethi dreams away, then Kowaru, Aeronniell, and Ialda to start Round 6.

HP 12; AC 19/15/14; F +3, R +4, W +0; Init +4; Perception +0; 2-W Fighter 1

Having heard Kowaru announce his intention to close with Vark, Chez will run up to the upper deck and close with the sailor.

Double move to H7.

"Die bastards!"

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

The sailor at I8 is Vark, Chez.

HP 12; AC 19/15/14; F +3, R +4, W +0; Init +4; Perception +0; 2-W Fighter 1

Okay, Chez runs to J10, standing over the fallen body of Xarethi.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Summary of Round 5:
Kowaru took out sailor
Aeronniell shot arrow, missed
Ialda killed sailor
Sailor with crossbow nicked Ialda
Vark staggered Aeronniell with bolt
Chez closed with the crossbowman

Round 6: Kowaru, Aeronniell, and Ialda are up!

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

Ack, misread Chez's posts, let's try that again!

Kowaru races up the stairs, finally freed from his engagement with the crossbowman, and strikes at Vark's third eye chakra. Vark, however, saw the monk coming, and dodged out of the way before Kowaru could make contact.

Mechanics:

OK, let's try this again! Touch of Serenity on Vark. If it hits, he has to make a DC 13 Will save or do nothing for 1 round.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

F HP30/30 AC18 T12 FF13 F3 R4 W4/6 Init+3 Perc+9/+11 Oracle 4 (Stargazer)

Round 6

"Oh dear..." Aeronniell mumbles as her eyes lock on the bolt impaled in her body.

Stumbling for cover, she does her best to not present Vark with another easy shot while she contemplates how she will address her injury.

No more cure spells today!

Anywhere within a move action for cover? I see she's already behind a bunch of crates, can she use her move action to lay prone for total cover?

Status:
0/8HP (disabled)

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

DM, I'm a little lost on the map. Will you move Ialda to the closest stairs so she can get to the level Vark currently is? Thanks

With a double move, you can get up the stairs and pretty close to Vark. Hope that works for you. Or did you want a move and full-defense? Let me know.

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

Double move please, DM.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Round 6 Sailors' Turn:

The sailor near Chez drops his crossbow, draws his rapier and slashes at Chez pathetically, missing the fighter by a mile.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7..miss!

Vark growls at Vark, as he drops his crossbow and draws a beautiful rapier with ornamental carvings and symbols. With weapon and buckler in hand, he sizes up the half-orc, "I see you deflect arrows, now deflect this!" He thrusts his rapier into Kowaru, piercing his abdomen deeply, causing him to grimace his pain, as blood runs down his leg and then Vark pushes him back off the blade with his buckler. Vark smiles, "Bad move coming this way, freak! I'm gonna rip yer guts out!"

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Suddenly, you hear some loud clattering and turn to see a spider-like creature the size of a horse cramped and squeezing at the stairwell leading down, its body dark brown with yellow stripes. The creature's head, horrifically over-sized for its body, is dominated by immense mandibles stained with fresh blood, that chatter and clack with obvious hunger! Pic of Creature

Vark looks at the creature with fear in his voice, "Oh f*ck, we're in trouble now!"

Updated Combat Map

Chez, then rest of party.

HP 12; AC 19/15/14; F +3, R +4, W +0; Init +4; Perception +0; 2-W Fighter 1

Chez is finally happy to let loose his blades...

Rapier attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Rapier damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Shortsword attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Shortsword damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

Kowaru gasps as Vark's rapier stabs deep into his chest, and then again as the massive arachnoid crawling from below decks. Worse, he saw Aeron's form, clutching her side and staring at the monstrosity with growing concern.

"Even the bobcat and wolf must stop their struggle when the lion attacks both," Kowaru hisses through his clenched teeth. "A truce, brother?"

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

"Sure, sure, truce." Vark looks down at his crossbow on the floor. "I'll peg it from here, if you and your men keep that thing away from me!"

Both of Chez' blades land, dropping the sailor in a pool of blood.

Kowaru wrote:
"Even the bobcat and wolf must stop their struggle when the lion attacks both," Kowaru hisses through his clenched teeth. "A truce, brother?"

Kowaru, you speech was not long, so it was a free action, you can act normally this round, if you'd like. Aeronniell and Ialda are also up!

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

Kowaru nodded silently to Vark and retrieved his sling from his belt. He stepped away from his previous assailant, loaded a bullet into his weapon and began to swing it about his head, gaining the necessary speed. He didn't trust Vark to honor the truce beyond this unusual turn of events, so he wanted to be far enough away that the pirate couldn't easily stab him once the creature was dead.

Mechanics:

Pull out my sling and load it. That's all I can do this round.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Vark sees Kowaru's uneasiness and smiles. "I hear it's called a Rhagodessa, some exotic creature from the Mwangi Expanse. They say it's got a grip of death." He chuckles awkwardly.

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

If Ialda takes a move action, can she get up to the level of Vark and Kowaru? If so, she will pull her sling as well. If not, let me know, and I'll adjust.

Ialda finishes her scamper up the stairs and pers down at the creature. She pulls her sling and prepares to fire at it next round.

F HP30/30 AC18 T12 FF13 F3 R4 W4/6 Init+3 Perc+9/+11 Oracle 4 (Stargazer)

Hearing the talking and the approaching creature, Aeronniell peeks out from her cover, surprised to see the roughly formed truce.

What in the Dreamer's name is that? she muses when she sees the creature, hoping to provide the others with some insight as she feels way too weak to draw her bow.

Knowledge (Nature?): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

Oh yeah, DM, forgot to add to my last post, a Know. Nature roll...

"What in the hells is this thing?"

Know. Nature 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Knowledge Nature DC 12:
Both Aeronniell and Ialda know the creature is technically classified as an insect as it has the primary qualities of a scorpion only without the stinger or claws (Vermin), that it has excellent eyesight at night (darkvision), and its primary combat tactic is to grab its prey with its front pair of legs that are studded with dozens of hooked suckers and then bite down on its prey with its powerful jaws.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Round 7 Enemies' Turn:

The Rhagodessa struggles against the confined space of the stairwell and you can hear the straining of the wood, until it finally gives out breaking before the size and strength of the arachnid! The creature scuttles across the deck and notices the prone Aeronniell and moves toward her, climbing over the crates away, until it stands right over her, the elf seeing the suckers close to her face!

Vark looks suspiciously at Kowaru and Ialda and sheathes his rapier, picks up his crossbow, and moves away from the pair.

Updated Combat map

Chez, unconscious Xarethi, Kowaru, Aeronniell, and Ialda are up!

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

"Stay away from her!" Kowaru shouts at the rhagodessa. "She will not be yours!!" He lines up his shot with the sling and lets go, the bullet sailing towards the creature. He begins reloading the sling almost immediately.

Mechanics:

Shoot the rhagodessa, and reload.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

You add Str damage on slings, so Kowaru does 6 pts of damage!

The bullet rips open a section of the arachnid's head, causing black liquid to spurt out, as it clatters its mandibles in pain.

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

Ialda fires her sling as well, making sure Vark wasn't trying to do anything hinky behind their back.

Attack with Bless 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

The sling hits the creature but it bounces off harmlessly of its thick exoskeleton.

"Shoo!" Aeronniell pleads with the critter, gesturing to the likely dead sailors about.

"If you want to eat someone laying down, go bite on that sailor. I'm still alive and moving!"

Jovial voice: It seems to fancy elf maiden!

Ugh... I'm barely conscious and you choose now to make a joke?

Blinking slowly and barely holding onto consciousness, Aeronniell glances around and wonders why she's standing alone by the creature while everyone else is shooting arrows or bolts at it.

That's what I should be doing...

Withdraw action capable anywhere? If so, she'll try to move to the far side of Chez such that if she is pursued, the bug at least provokes an AoO from Chez.

HP 14/14; AC 12/12/10; F+1, R+3, W+3 Init +2, Perception +0

Unless I missed something, Aeronniell is prone, so she can move 10 feet crawling with a withdraw action, unless she wants to risk AoO by standing, which I doubt.

Waiting for Chez' action...

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Ok, just realized that more than 36 hours have passed since Chez last posted so time to NPC him.

Realizing that Aeronniell's life is in danger, as she struggles to crawl away, Chez rushes to intercept the beast, thrusting his rapier into the side of its head, drawing blood!

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Enemies' Turn Round 8:
The Rhagodessa clatters in pain and seeing the blond human in front of it, strikes at him with its mandibles, ripping through flesh and armor, as Chez screams and then passes out from the pain, his weapons clanging on the floor!

Bite attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19..hit
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Seeing that grisly attack, Vark shudders as he shoots his crossbow and misses!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10..miss

Summary of Round 8:
Kowaru damaged creature with sling
Aeronniell crawled away
Ialda missed
Rhagodessa nearly bit Chez in half
Vark loaded and missed
Chez: Stabilization roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18..stabilizes!
