Kowaru winces as the beast tears away more of his flesh. "Whatever this thing is, it refuses to submit!" He continues to press his attack, though he's really just guessing at the lobstrosity's pressure points.

Fort save Ialda and combat is over, as both creatures lay dead! Now what? Continue into the murky depths of the underwater caves or go back the other way?

"Crabs... looks like we have food for at least a few weeks if we don't mind a little seafood," Aeronniell quips as she advances to examine Ialda's injuries.

"Hmmm. That's not too bad, let me see..." The Desnan elf mutters a few celestial words and smiles at the good work she performs.

"Thank you, Aero. That should keep me up and running, until the next lobster catches me! Let's keep exploring this way. I bet they have a nest around here somewhere..." the barbarians says as she takes a few moments to catch her breath before poking in the water with her spear again, preparing to go swimming again.

Should be full on HP, I think.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Ialda is still down 3 hps. And since you didn't get my DM hints, guess, I will have to guide you more directly. Please go the other way so you can meet the new player! Is that clearer? LOL...

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

Lol...you have to be direct with me, DM! I'm not good at picking up hints.

"I don't see anything else here. Let's go check the other direction..."

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

LOL! You head back west, pass the staircase leading back up to the taxidermy shop, and reach a wooden door. You try the handle and find it locked.

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

Ialda listens at the door, seeing if there are any voices she can pick up.

Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

It seems the aftereffect of the reefclaw's poison has dulled Ialda's senses and clogged her ears...or maybe it's the thickness of the wooden door, but either way, she does not sense any voices nearby.

HP 10/10, AC 16/16/16, F +3, R +4 W +5, Init +2, Per +3

"I believe I shall pass, sister," Kowaru says to Aeronneill quietly. "Even if ate meat, I suspect I would have issues with eating something that tried to eat me."

Kowaru follows along, and notes Ialda straining to hear through the wooden door. He tries as well, pressing his ear to the door and closing his eyes to ward off other distractions.

Perception:

Bah. I guess reefclaw poison makes you deaf.

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

I've forgotten, but have we found a set of keys down here?

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Thought someone else might chime in or make Perception checks....guess not!

You found 2 keys on the body of the dead wizard Nemien, one of which opened the doors on the top level. The second one fits in the lock and you open the door. You see a desk and chair set up against the wall, perhaps for a sentry but you do not see anyone. Torches in sconces attached to the wall every 20 or so feet light the corridor, which heads east about 15 feet before turning North. When Ialda, who is in the lead, turns the corner, with her low-light vision, she sees about 30 feet ahead, a male figure facing away from her, and standing in the entry of the doorway, looking into a room. He is garbed in studded leather with a short sword dangling at his side. You hear the man laughing as well as three more male voices coming in from inside the room. However, the view of the room is obstructed by the man in the doorway. What do you do?

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

Ialda puts her finger to her lips, warning the group to tread carefully. After the reception the group had received so far, she knew the chances were that this group would not be welcoming of them, either. She tries to silently approach the men, and strike the one turned away from her in the back.

As Ialda quietly moves ahead, Aeronniell nods, concern on her face as she once again holds her longbow in her hand.

Must everything be dangerous?

"We could try tal-- ..." the Desnan cuts herself short as the green-skinned woman disappears into the darkness and claws at a man.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8...failure!

The guard at the door is oblivious to Ialda's approach. As the green-skinned barbarian prepares to strike, a human male's voice screams in pain from inside the room, as the other 2 voices and the guard laugh mockingly, "Tell us what you know!" Unfortunately, the shout distracts her attack, and Ialda's claws do not penetrate the guard's studded leather armor, causing him to yelp in surprise, as he looks back in shock! "You're gonna die for that, bi&ch!"

Aagh! Lost my "new" post reminder and obviously failed to drop in for quite some time to see if that happened again. I wish they would get that "feature" fixed.

Round 1

Baolo steps up to close within 30 feet of the guard in the doorway and fires an arrow off at the leather-garbed guard.
Attack (Longbow, Comp. (Str +1), Point Blank) 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 1 = 15

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Baolo's arrow flies true, relying on his training and ignoring any partial cover from Ialda, piercing the guard's throat before he can even speak, blood spurting on Ialda, as she sees his eyes go wide and then close, as his body crumples to the ground! The other 2 guards, about 15' away, stare in shock at Ialda, as they stop beating on the bound human, and fumble for their weapons.

Aeronniell hesitates as she nocks an arrow and aims it at one of the thugs. She then summons up the best, confident voice she can, in the hopes of ending the conflict before further bloodshed can happen.

"You're outnumbered and off-guard, surrender now!"

Diplomacy (if applicable): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Presuming these guys won't surrender despite our shock and awe tactics, Aeronniell lets an arrow loose at a thug.

Round 2

Frowning and shaking her head, Aeronniell backs away, giving up on any diplomatic solution. She still can't refrain from commenting on the thug's zealotry and ensures her eyes meet those of the thug that's swinging at her.

"Really! We're here to meet Vanthus, and you think risking your lives two-on-five is a good idea? Your really are ill-trained..."

Aeronniell backs up a few steps, working to parry any blows from her attacker.

5ft step back to E,4 and total defense action, now AC19.

Round 1

"Lotus Dragons," Kowaru says as he approaches behind Aeronniell. "Thank you for giving a name to those who threaten us. But nobody else need die today. Put down your arms, and I will not harm you." He knows that they will not do so - not without a powerful reason, at least - and so he gives them one. He reaches for the man, putting him into a painful arm lock.

Mechanics:

Move to E5.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

The thief nimbly dodges the half-orc's awkward attempt to grab him, but hearing his friend's screams, as Ialda's claws rip his friend to shreds and seeing she is in front of the door and that he is outnumbered 4-1, the lone thief remaining drops his rapier on the dirt floor and retreats to sit on the bench, "Ok, you win, I surrender. Please don't hurt me."

We are out of combat unless you wish to attack him.

F HP30/30 AC18 T12 FF13 F3 R4 W4/6 Init+3 Perc+9/+11 Oracle 4 (Stargazer)

Aeronniell stands in silence for a moment, surprise clearly showing in her elven features at the thug's sudden change of heart.

"Well, then. Smart choice."

Stepping forward again, she slings her bow around her should and attempts to project something of an air of authority.

"So, we're hear to see Vanthus. Since you're such observant guards, you'll know if he's here -- is he?"

HP: 45/45 (49/49 raging), AC 16/16/15; F +6, R+2, W+4 Init. +1; Perception +10

Ialda calms herself and decides to show the remaining thug mercy. She moves to the bound prisoner and starts freeing him from the ropes. "What did this one do for you to take and bind him?"

The guard furrows his brow, "Vanthus? You mean double-V, right? The aristocrat-looking fella? I know he was here yesterday to see the mistress. He was laughing it up about locking up some poor fools under Parrot Island." He chuckles, until he sees the serious looks on your faces and then he stops and gulps. "That wasn't you folk, was it?"

"Him? And then beat him real good. We was about to integorate him when you folk interrupted us. I'm Harvin by the way." Purposefully misspelled word, Harvin is trying hard to sound smart in front of the party.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

As Ialda cuts the bound man's ropes, he falls to the floor clutching his ribs, his right eye swollen shut. He mutters in pain, finding it difficult to speak, "Name's...Corel, thanks for..saving me. if you could lead me out, I'd be happy to seek some medical attention." "Go back up that way and you can get out of here. Don't be following rough looking types in the future," the barbarian adds to the young man. _"You're clearly a smart one, Harvin, throwing down your weapon like that. Why don't you show us around down here, and we can talk about keeping you from getting beaten up. Like where is the Mistress?"

If anyone has a CLW spell available, Ialda could use it, I think.

Your bloodthirsty Master of Ceremonies

Corel makes his exit, gripping his side in pain. As he departs, Chez, who was informed by Lady Vanderboren that the party had gone to investigate the guildhall, sees him coming out of the Taxidermist's Hall. Corel informs Chez that the party is down in the secret passages and leaves.

In the meantime, Harvin speaks to Ialda, "My kind green lady, our mistress Rowyna the Cruel is aptly named. If she learns I helped you out, she will feed me to either Cruncher or her pet Gutcrusher and watch while they eat me! Please, she's that mean! If you wants to go seek your death, it's that way." Harvin points to the door heading North.

"Cruncher is this large wolf that Mistress Rowyna keeps down here to monitor her thieves. He's scary that one, you can see it in his eyes, his malice. Gutcrusher is the Mistress' cannibalistic ape, 8 feet tall, and always by her side. Mistress commands the Lotus Dragons and this is our base of operations. So when she finds out, you and your friends are in big trouble."

Knowledge (arcana) DC 12:
Harvin is most likely referencing a worg when he describes Cruncher: evil intelligent wolves often seen in the company of goblins.

It's been awhile but remember our house rule, since the party has no clerics: maximum healing from spells, potions, wands out of combat. Do you still cast spell or use potion or something else? In your loot thread, I see you bought a wand of cure light (though I don't see in on Aero's sheet) and you also have a potion of lesser restoration..it may help with Ialda's strength loss. Don't forget to put your loot on your profiles.

Thanks for the reminder. Using the wand probably makes the most sense. Ialda, I'm fine if you want to use the potion of lesser restoration too.
