Aura faint divination; CL 3rd
Slot neck; Price 1,000 gp; Weight —
Description
A carved ruby in the shape of a scarab set in gold, this magic amulet grants its wearer insight on where to strike a creature so as to maximize pain and distress. This pendant must be worn against bare flesh in order to function. Once per day, as an immediate action, when the wearer of a pendant of the blood scarab threatens a critical hit with any attack, he may automatically confirm the critical hit. When the user activates this ability, the pendant’s spiky little legs momentarily animate and clutch against the wearer’s skin, dealing 1d6 points of damage as the amulet burrows and digs into the wearer’s body in apparent delight at the devastating blow inflicted on the enemy.
CONSTRUCTION Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, true strike; Cost 500 gp
Partly Done Story:
In the days following the deaths of Chez and Kowaru, Baolo finds himself drawn back to the sea. Each morning, he spends a little time communing with Shimye-Magalla and when the streets of Lower Harbor fill with the Barter Markets, the slight inquisitor picks his way among the traders, looking for old friends and especially his favorite fletchers and bowyers hoping to replace the dull arrows of the Lotus Dragons with his signature weapons before resuming the hunt for Vanthus.
Baolo finds one of his old friends right away and replaces his usual ammunition with a set of Ekujae thistle arrows. Running his fingers along the thorny barbs, he whistles, “Perfect fa hookin’ Vanthus, mon. Dat one isn’ gettin’ away dis time.” He makes arrangements for purchasing a few other special arrows at the same time - silver and cold iron and special arrows for drenching a foe with holy water or covering them in smoke. “Might’ve kept Kowaru alive if dat ooman couldn’t see ‘im. Goin’ ta miss ‘im.”
Picking up some of his purchases the next day, his friend excitedly tells him about a rare visitor, a bowyer from Nantambu with connections to the Magaambya has come to Eleder with rare greenwood, enough for three bows. [More about greenwood here]
In the hours after the funerals, anger with Vanthus burning hot again, Baolo returns to the Barter Markets to pick up his new bow. The Nantambu bowyer leaves him with a warning, “Be wary my friend. Do not let the anger consume you.” [And here, Baolo gets drawn in by a witch who tells him about the good part of the charm, but not the consequences]

DM: How many traits do we start with? I only started with 1, and I couldn't remember if there was a campaign-based selection we used for the second one?

Dang it Aero, I'm sorry I keep forgetting the effects of my buffs. I'll try to de better in the future, since they are so handy! I do appreciate them, even if I forget them sometimes, lol.
Will not spoiler since we are in the OOC thread. The Int loss is permanent till the disease is cured. When that occurs, all Int loss comes back immediately.

I think its even worse though. Sounds like we have to cure the disease itself before it comes back. Even if we had lesser restoration and maybe even restoration that it wouldn't do it.

DM: I made a slight error on the character sheet which I would like to change. I accidentally changed Gruug's +1 Breastplate to a +1 Chain Shirt. (This is why his AC showed as 20). I couldn't figure out why it dropped so I just amended it to 18. I see now, it was because of this. Would you mind if I made an on-the-fly adjustment back to the Breastplate?
This does affect his movement (for 1 more level) but he still could have made the charge he made with the reduced movement.

Can I tell you how much I love Aero's hatred/fear of monkeys? If we survive, IIRC in this AP, there are monkeys galore...just save tmie and send her to therapy now.

I think he needs to swap dice with the DM. I think every second roll has been a crit on poor Gruug. Thankfully the DM has not been able to confirm many of them :)

Its actually working out for me Lucendar. I have been slammed with work lately...in a good way, but still slammed. Have a big RFP due May 31 and pitch on June 6. I'll do my best to keep up, but if you feel me lagging, please feel free to GMPC Baolo if needed.
Still here, guys. Just with work and the NBA Finals (I live in Miami, in case you didn't know), it's been real busy but things should calm down real soon. Thanks for hanging around!

Looks like both of our teams won Lucendar! We're back from Ireland. Had a wonderful time. Quite amazing place. I hope everything is ok Lucendar. I know we've got the 4th of July holiday coming up for everyone in the US so things might be slow a little longer, but looking forward to getting back on track when you're ready.
I have not abandoned ye! Hey all, I'm back and for good. Now I know there is Gencon from the 15-18th of August (I can't go due to work). So the question is do you want to start up now and then stop or wait to pick up after the 18th?
