Hmmm odd mix
Only a lone bard on the arcane side.
A Cleric, a Druid, an Inquisitor and two rangers for team divine.
Were it not for how much playing Love's no nonsense, step where I step, attitude appeals to me I would be sorely tempted to toss in a Wizard candidate.
Well, a druid can fill the blaster role of an arcane typically anyway, it just depends on build and spell selection. The cleric can have a harder time filling that role, as even with the fire domain I only have so many instantaneous damage spells.
I suppose this is the type of AP where people want to play divine more then arcane, and I'm also seeing quite a few trapsmiths.
OH, and GM, I have a feat that depending on your interpretation of the feat may not actually do anything until third level, so I will ask you this: The Versatile Channeler feat allows me to channel negative energy at my cleric level -2, but it does not require level 3, the feat does not say, but can I assume that the cleric level for channeling is a minimum of 1st? If it defaults to 1st level, then I don't need to change it, however if it does not, either I cannot channel negative energy yet, or it channels as a cleric of level -1, whatever that means.

1. Visual description of character (feel free to post link to images if you have something specific in mind) I think the profile is close enough. Deeply tanned gnome with BRIGHT turquoise eyes and orange/gold hair. Dressed in simple Osirion fashion.
2. Why do you care about tomb exploring? Why risk death at the hands of ancient traps or untold horrors buried away? Isn't there an easier way for your character to make a living? Is it just greed for gold or something else? Curiosity mostly, to get to go where noone has tread for ages and see how the wildlife has fared during that time.
3. Brief history as to how you heard about lottery and came to be in Wati
Native of Wati, will probably take the local campaign trait. He's snuck around the grave city before, though he did find a freshly molted beetle on one of his excursions, he never got very far. An opportunity to do so would be most stimulating. He's offered his services as guide to several parties.
Alzaar Na' Keth |
I'd like to present Alzaar Na'keth. Everything you asked should be in his bio and crunch already. A physical description: Alzaar stands 5'10", with dark, shoulder length hair and dark skin. His eyes are black, but shine with intelligence and a desire to uncover that which is lost. He weighs 130 lbs, and is of average musculature for his size. He is energetic, and prone to daydreaming when not delving into dangerous crypts.

For those of you wanting to compare class types melee, ranged, arcana, skilled, etc. I want to give you a heads up.
Yes, I am a gunslinger and I do have more dex then str, but I have a shortsword, a longsword, two-weapon fighting, and I can wear really good armor. Guns are more for when I can't reach the enemy as bullets and powder are expensive, usually they are on a high ledge or it is the beginning of combat and I don't have enough movement to reach them.
I decided gunslinger over fighter, but I am more melee than ranged, and those would be the feats I'd be going for.
Not to mention, he will most likely be Gunslinger-Ranger with the two-weapon path.
Miss Lori |
Never done a point buy build before so I hope I don't screw myself over. But that's beside the point, allow me to introduce you to Miss Lori of The Shackles. She is a Buccaneer Gunslinger with a focus on pistols.
1. Visual description of character (feel free to post link to images if you have something specific in mind)
- Miss Lori is your typical pirate, wears a leather vest with a tricorn hat upon her head. Notable features is her red hair and a gold coin necklace with an off center dent in it. She claims its her lucky coin as it stopped a bullet from hitting her in the thigh during a raiding party in the inner sea.
2. Why do you care about tomb exploring? Why risk death at the hands of ancient traps or untold horrors buried away? Isn't there an easier way for your character to make a living? Is it just greed for gold or something else?
- Miss Lori was part of a crew that left the ocean life to try raiding the riches that were said to be held within the inner sea itself. The ship unfortunately went down in a storm and Miss Lori despite what others say, she believes there to be other survivors of the shipwreck. She seeks wealth to purchase a new ship, hire a crew, and search for her fellow crew members.
3. Brief history as to how you heard about lottery and came to be in Wati.
- After the shipwreck, Lori washed up shore on Osirion's coast and was found by scavengers hoping to find wealth in the flotsam. When they found Lori alive, they nursed her back to health and told her how to reach Sothis, explaining that that was her best bet for finding her friends. When she arrived and found nothing, she decided to find work and search herself for her friends and eventually return to the shackles. She found work as a guard for a caravan leaving Sothis for Wati. Along the way she heard people speaking of the lottery and believed it to be a perfect chance to get the gold she needed to achieve her goal of finding her crew mates.
Hopefully you enjoyed Lori's introduction and don't mind a second gunslinger applying for a spot in your game.

That was not how I intended to introduce myself to this thread, but you're welcome.
For my submission, Dashuun, the Necropolis guard (lore warden).
1. Visual description of character (feel free to post link to images if you have something specific in mind):
I'll have to get to this once I choose between Half-Elf, Human, or even Half-Orc. I'm leaning towards a lean, dark-skinned, slightly muscled, mostly-human looking half-orc with short hair and dark eyes. Standard guard attire, light armor under white silken robes to resist the heat.
2. Why do you care about tomb exploring? Why risk death at the hands of ancient traps or untold horrors buried away? Isn't there an easier way for your character to make a living? Is it just greed for gold or something else?
Dashuun has stood guard over the Necropolis gates for so long that he can't help but wonder what lies within. Even if he is not chosen to explore the Necropolis, he is terribly curious about the buried secrets of Wati. Having had enough of dueling his shadow, he is ready to delve the dungeons and test his true mettle.
3. Brief history as to how you heard about lottery and came to be in Wati
Dashuun has lived in Wati for over a decade, having worked as a caravan escort arriving in town and simply never leaving. He has also been a guard that entire time, and as such was among the first to hear of the lottery.

I mainly just love the gunslinger class and don't get to play one very much since 9 times out of 10 I'm the GM. I have a buccaneer gunslinger in one game named Lori as well, but she's NE and a perpetual drunk with an onslaught of titles (Professor King Madam Lori III Esquire). Miss Lori on the other hand is CG and doesn't like to drink because of what the booze does to her. So yeah, when she can start drinking to get temp grit points should be fun.
Miss Lori |
I'm a bit torn with Lori's traits. I've been debating with having her go with Foreign Opportunist (since she's trying to get lots of gold) or Resurrected (she actually died in the shipwreck and her savior resurrected her.) for my campaign trait. I got a gun-related trait for her to help with some saves since he's a bit poor on the Will side. If we can have two campaign traits I might take a drawback so i can get both campaign traits.
Miss Lori |
Oh, Lucendar, I hate to be the one to ask but are you a stickler for bookkeeping? Like being a gunslinger, do i need to keep active notes on my ammo or my carrying capacity since i have a low strength score? I mainly ask because in my games i don't both my players with keeping track of it because i know they flat out won't since its too much paper work.

you have access to a gunsmith's kit, you can create and restore firearms, craft bullets, and mix black powder for all types of firearms. You do not need to make a Craft check to create firearms and ammunition or to restore firearms.
Crafting Firearms: You can craft any early firearm for a cost in raw materials equal to half the price of the firearm. At your GM’s discretion, you can craft advanced firearms for a cost in raw materials equal to half the price of the firearm. Crafting a firearm in this way takes 1 day of work for every 1,000 gp of the firearm’s price (minimum 1 day).
Crafting Ammunition: You can craft bullets, pellets, and black powder for a cost in raw materials equal to 10% of the price. If you have at least 1 rank in Craft (alchemy), you can craft alchemical cartridges for a cost in raw materials equal to half the price of the cartridge. At your GM’s discretion, you can craft metal cartridges for a cost in raw materials equal to half the cost of the cartridge. Crafting bullets, black powder, or cartridges takes 1 day of work for every 1,000 gp of ammunition (minimum 1 day).
Restoring a Broken Firearm: Each day, with an hour’s worth of work, you can use this feat to repair a single firearm with the broken condition. You can take time during a rest period to restore a broken firearm with this feat.
Special: If you are a gunslinger, this feat grants the following additional benefit. You can use this feat to repair and restore your initial, battered weapon. It costs 300 gp and 1 day of work to upgrade it to a masterwork firearm of its type.
theres the whole shebang.

oh, and another question (hopefully my last, i know I'm asking a lot of stuff) is will I either gain access to a revolver or have the ability to craft my own revolver via gunsmithing feat? I mainly ask because once we start getting multiple attacks per round, a single shot pistol is only going to slow me down.
Miss Lori |
@ Cedric - Buccaneer trades that deed out for rope swing. Starting to think about switching away from Buccaneer and just do normal gunslinger. I also lose Nimble for temp grit which I didn't realize.
@ Kakra - I guess a follow up question would be does rapid reload hit all barrels at once or just one barrel at a time.
Ernst "Love" Lowfield |
Rapid reload feat edited for focus....
Benefit: The time required for you to reload your chosen type of weapon is reduced to... a move action (for...or one-handed firearm), or a standard action (two-handed firearm). Reloading a crossbow or firearm still provokes attacks of opportunity.
So it looks like a move or a standard to reload depending on the gun.
Note also
Alchemical cartridge
An alchemical cartridge is a prepared bundle of black powder with a bullet or pellets, sometimes with more exotic material added, which is then wrapped in paper or cloth and sealed with beeswax, lard, or tallow. There are many types of alchemical cartridges, the simplest being the paper cartridge—a simple mix of black powder and either pellets or a bullet. Alchemical cartridges make loading a firearm easier, reducing the time to load a firearm by one step (a full-round action becomes a standard action, a standard action becomes a move action, and a move action becomes a free action), but they tend to be unstable. ...
The simplest cartridge runs 12g per shot and increases misfire by 1.
So using rapid reload w/ paper cartridges means reloading 1 barrel is a free action.
Hope that helped. All taken from d20Pfsrd
Anka Sarraf |
Visual Description
[Visual Image]Anka is a dark-skinned human with long, loose black hair. She frequently dresses in black, dark blue, maroon or silver while always wearing black on holy days. She has muscular arms and a thin physique. Her left side bear dark tattoos in a more Varisian style obtained from a foreigner while she trained with priests of Nethys.
Why do you care about Tomb Exploring? Why risk death at the hands of traps? Is it greed or something else?
Anka is a devotee of Pharasma and feels particularly blessed by her. She seeks to kill undead and hopes to cleanse the long-closed tombs of any lurking within. Finally, while she has some slight distaste for tomb-raiding itself, she sees the exploration of lost tombs as an important duty. She hopes to bring a particular respect with her, encouraging adventurers to sell not to money-grubbing foreign merchants but rather those that will treasure what they are sold--scholars, Pathfinders and religious collectors.
How did she hear of the lottery and come to be in Wati?
As both a native Osirioni and member of Pharasma's church, the news of Wati's necropolis being opened was a big topic of discussion. There were those who felt the necropolis should stay shut, and others who were intrigued by its opening. Anka fell into the later category and convinced her elders to send her as an emissary--to investigate the tombs and also to encourage others to treat them with appropriate respect while exploring.
The bodies of the dead should lay quiet. Anka is a child of Pharasma, a devotee to the Lady of Graves. She was entered into Sothis's High Temple of Pharasma at the age of nine. Her parents, poor as they were and with many children, hoped life as a priestess would bring her greater joy than they could. Anka's distaste for the risen undead does not strive from a turbulent past, but rather her intense devotion to her goddess and the ideals she follows. What is dead, should stay dead. Life is, after all, a natural cycle.
Unlike many of her fellows, she took to the militant branch of Pharasma's worship--the Voices of the Spire. She trained with the blade, trained in arts to combat and most of all--prayed. She prayed for the talents of the few inquisitors of her order. She prayed for the spells wrought by the warpriests and clerics. And yet, Pharasma gave no response. Thinking herself unworthy, Anka went deep into the crypts to pray and fast for several days.
During that time, she received a vision. Whether induced by her half-starved, sleepless state or an actual vision, Anka swears one of Pharasma's aspects, Endless Gravestone, spoke to her. It told her there were many ways to follow the goddess and hers were to be unique. When Anka left the crypts, she returned with new powers. And yet, these were not talents of the divine, but of the arcane. She practiced and trained in these with wizards of Nethys that the clergy knew eventually mastering her new arts and combining them with the sword talents taught to her by the Voices of the Spire.
Motivations: Anka has practiced to fight undead, but that is not her only purpose in life. When she heard of the Pharoah opening long-closed tombs, she knew she must go there. She had to explore these ancient relics and make sure the dead within were interred peacefully, that their belongings treated with care and sold not to gold-grubbing foreign merchants, but scholars and priests.

Hrm... I may do that with the paper cartridge... I'd still like to know about possibly upgrading to modern guns though I'd understand if I can't. I won't bother with paper cartridges yet though since they're a lot of gold, but when I start gaining access to multiple attacks a round, I'll be sure to look back into it. Thanks for all you're help.

Not something to worry about for a few levels at least. Rapid reload might be worth it as an early feat but it is a toss up between that and point blank shot. Eventually you will likely want both if you are looking at rapid shot down the line.
This is why I prefer thieves. The accounting is so much simpler.
Mind you having some folks walking through a tomb with kegs of low-yield explosives could come in quite handy.
Must remember Kn.Engineering so I will know which walls are not load bearing.
