Congrats to all who made it! Let's try to have a fun time! Please post your characters into the Paizo profile. I'm not that computer literate so if you need help, ask someone else in the group...lol.
I will be sending you all e-mails as to how you came to be about on the caravan to Kelmarane, altering your backgrounds a little. Hope you don't mind. :)
Please feel free to post anything else you'd like to say or comment about OOC.

I'm sure we'll have a good time. The fact that everyone made it so hard for you to choose bodes well. A couple questions....
When do you want full character stats posted by so we can begin?
Do you wish to keep the traits limited to those in the AP Players Guide?
If starting wealth permits, would any scrolls or potions be allowed to start, or would you prefer we stick to mundane gear?
I am very much looking forward to this! Thanks for putting this together for us.

In response to your first question, the sooner the better. I've got ideas already flowing with this group, so I got good stuff planned. I know people are busy, so should I give a deadline? Let me know what you think.
As for traits, yes, keep them limited to LoF Player's Guide and the Paizo free web enhancement.
If gold permits, yes, you are allowed to purchase scrolls and potions.
Quzman Garhani |
Here's a start at Quzman. I need to edit his background, and finish the small survival purchases (waterskins, etc.). I need to log tonight, but will finish tomorrow after work.
Please let me know if there's any changes you'd like to see.
Thanks.

I don't think you need to give a dead line. Once we have all the character stuff worked out (usually takes a couple of days) you can link us to the Adventure Thread.
Looks like we are going to have a pretty cool group.
Brebork |
I have justed posted my character's profile. and am looking over the others. Brebork is a serious and intense character. (Maybe someone already noticed the allusion in his name to Brebeuf - the famous Jesuit missionary in Canadian history - I'll draw some inspiration from E.J Pratt's Epic poem about him). He is a real zealot. Hopefully there aren't too many errors and I selected appropriate traits. I am really looking forward to seeing the others now.

Did I assign STATS properly? I just want to be sure that I followed the correct convention for a 20 point buy. I used the Ability Scores Cost chart in the PFSRD and then allocated the +2 race bonus for half orc.
Just making sure.
Actually, you have 1 pt left to spend! 15, 14, 14, 12 (before adding the +2) adds up to 19 pts. ;)

Quzman, I think you're 1 pt over on your point buy. Did you steal Brebork's pt? LOL... 15, 13, 14, 12, 12, 12 (before adding the +2) adds up to 21 pts. Please amend, thanks!

Alright :)
Can't wait to get my hands on that achievement feat.
Bring on the GNOLLS :P

I will send Dumah, Brebork, and Jarva your emails tonight. I like the group dynamic as well so I see great potential. Dumah, have you picked your known spells?
Yes. Spells currently memorized are under Class/Race Abilities and spells in his spellbook (and on scrolls) are under equipment. I think I may break those out into their own spoilered spell section later.

Whoops! Sorry about that, I did the points, added the +2, and then noticed that Sandwalker needed a 13 CON instead of the 12 I had =p. When dropping STR to add to CON, I forgot that it was what I had already added my +2 to. I've readjusted the stats and will work on equip and story tonight.

Ok, finished the last 3 remaining e-mails and sent them. Phew! Hope you guys liked your small backstory. I don't know what the fantasy equivalent is for a cigar but whatever it is, Garavel smokes it. ;) Well, any questions, let me know and I will be reviewing your characters but all looks good so far. Anyone still need to post/edit their character in profile?

Hurray for the Gnoll Killers !
And perhaps it's a good idea to about some talk tactics.
Since Quzman has been my scouting buddy and friend for more then 2 years ... I'd say we're flanking buddies :)
However, my "battle strategy" is to throw javalins first and then move for the kill. I'd like to point out that people stay out of the way of the flying javalin ;)
Lucendar |
Ready to go..and great email, Lucendar. I made some corrections in my profile (added the last +1 to my CON - thanks for pointing that out).
If I were a Gnoll I wouldn't want to be anywhere near this gang.
Don't know what happened to your 12 score but now you still have 2 pts left to spend! 15,14,14,11 adds up to 18 pts.

I'll point out that Eli is not a typical trap finder type thief, he is focused on slight of hand. He is a gambler by trade and was made to multi-class into sorcerer later on. I'll probably use his explorations of the ruins as a way to add more rogue levels before doing that and pick up the trap like skills he will need. In a fight he is going to be probably best at aiding another or providing flanking for one of the rangers or the cleric.
I think we are all ready to go.

Brebork, thanks for the update. Add 10 to CMD score (base) and though Fort save is correct at +3, it should +2 base +1 Con.
Eli, your profile is missing your CMD score. You have 10 trained skills (8 base +1 int +1 human) as a rogue (difficult to tell which are trained, please clarify). Thanks.
Kyra, amend your CMB to +4 (not +7) (+1 BA +3 Strength).
Jarva, I have your AC at 14 (not 15) (Leather +2 +1 light shield +1 Dex)...am I missing something? Touch AC should be 11 (not 12).
Dumah, your profile is missing your initiative score (+4). Also, you forgot +1 hp for Haleen trait (total = 9).
Quzman, apply -1 penalty to Stealth and Ride skills due to armor.
Yes! I managed to find something for each of you! LOL...
Brebork |
So many corrections to do - ugh! So I fixed the CMD and showed the math for Saves, Skills, etc. Fixed the DC for channeling from 16 to 15. I hope that's all.
As for combat tactics...I don't wish to meta-game too much..but Brebork is not a martial artist. He is better at wielding magic, inspiring allies and striking fear into foes. Nevertheless he is a big growing lad and will play the tank when needed. He hates carrying the stupid longspear around....but one of his more militant superiors lectured him patronizingly and at length about the importance of having a big polearm.
Orisons: Mending; Detect Magic; Guidance
1st Level Bonus Domain Spell: Shield of Faith;
1st Level Spell: Bless; Command

Luc, I might have changed my sheet since you last looked. I added the Dodge feat, and subtracted the Self Sufficient feat, so that accounts for the extra AC. You are right about me forgetting to add skills though.

Doh! I remembered them for the untrained, but not the trained...don't it figure. I think it's all good now.
As far as tactics, I was hoping to eventually to be a stalking hunter. However, right now, it'll probably be more straight forward fighting near Kyra with the bow, until getting close to melee and then scimitars and flanking with Eli/Kyra as possible. He's not got the best AC at the moment, so will be rough as a frontline tank, but with more than 1 up front it should help.
I agree with the others, very excited about this one.
Lucendar |
Thanks for the clarification, Jarva, did not realize you had changed feats.
Ok, before I start the PbP thread, here's my bad cop (GM) speech: Please post at least once during a 24 hour period to keep up the flow of the game, whether it be rping and especially, in combat. I reserve the right to dismiss your character if you disappear from the boards. If you're going to be away and you know it, please let me know.
Ok, enough with that, on to the game and let's have fun! This thread will continue for OOC comments and issues.

I usually think fast is best for a PBP because they alreday take so long to do. Days to resolve an encounter vs. hours. That way the players see some accomplishment quicker for the characters. Though this one is very heavy on the role play so it is exciting to check in on every day and not tedious at all so Medium might be good because it will mean the adventures can last longer. I am not familiar with the AP, that might be a consideration too, we don't want the character levels to get ahead or behind the challenge ratings of the encounters.
