Agreed.

Worried about Lhuar, just want to make sure he is still with us before moving the scene.

"What in the Inferno's name have you done, Marcello?", thought the fallen noble as he left the relative safety of the group. "Sometimes you get so wrapped up in playing the hero, you don't think things through. There are bound to be Hellknights in the sewer, and just one of you. You need protection."

Fortunately, Marcello never went anywhere completely unprepared. He said a word of power, and felt the familiar tingle of force envelop him. He had grabbed a torch from a nearby sconce before entering the sewers, and let the flame illuminate his immediate surroundings. Hopefully, he would find his way back before he ran into too much trouble.

Mechanics:

Cast Mage Armor.

Male HP: 11/22 AC 16/13/13: F+5, R +6, W+3, Per:+7, Init: +3

Lhuar comes out of his momentary stupor. It seems he hears a voice asking is still true to the cause.
He thinks to himself, "Now is not the time to be distracted especially with lives in danger."

Marcello catches up with the party, as he thinks better of marching off alone in the dark sewers. The party faintly hears the commotion upstairs in the Crossed Swords, as you assume the Hellknights came in. The party sloshes its way through the tunnels, looking for the hidden marks at each intersection, noting how easily one could get lost. Zeke remains quiet during the journey. It is obvious he is a little overwhelmed by the day's events.

Perception:
Jerod: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Lhuar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Marcello: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Naeli: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Pallius: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Tuktuk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

15 minutes into the trek, as the party comes up to another intersection, they are caught unawares, as goblins race from the tunnels from the east and north, screaming "Draal akorthaar!"

Tuktuk:
"Die, intruders!" is the best translation.

Initiative rolls:
Goblins: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Jerod: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Lhuar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Marcello: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Naeli: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Pallius: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Tuktuk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Order:
Goblins
Naeli
Marcellus
Pallius
Tuktuk
Jerod
Lhuar

Round 1 Goblins' Turn:
The two in the front to the north double move, moving 6 squares. The two behind them move 3 squares and shoot Jerod with their crude shortbows, one striking him in the chest, the other bouncing off his armor.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

The two in front to the east do the same, double moving, their dogslicers in their hands. The next two move up 3 squares and shoot Lhuar, showing their hatred for mutual racial hatred. One of the arrows penetrates deep, nearly felling the dwarf in one blow! The goblin who shot the arrow giggles with glee!

Goblin:
"Die smelly, dwarf!"

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24..possible critical
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18...confirmed!
Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (3, 2, 3) = 8

The last goblin remains with the female goblin, holding his weapon defensively in front of him. The female goblin gestures in the air and an energy missile materializes, streaking toward Lhuar! It strikes him but the dwarf refuses to fall, though he is gravely injured.
Magic missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Summary:
Jerod: 6/10
Lhuar: 2/12

Party is up! Zeke runs to the south, looking for cover. Sewer is difficult terrain so no charging.

Tuktuk curses. Well, from the frying pan to the fire; we don't have time for this! He casts a worried look over his shoulder, in the direction from which they'd come, then leans forward to place a hand on Lhuar's arm. He closes his eyes, concentrating inwardly on the place from which his power seemed to flow; it was still an almost instinctual action, not learned.

Marcello exclaimed something in his mother tongue - it sounded melodious, but still carried the force of a good strong curse. "Protect me if you can - we might yet be able to even these odds." He began to chant the arcane words, and inwardly he was thankful that they were racing through a sewer. At least here, the scent of brimstone would be unnoticed.

Mechanics:

Begin casting Sleep. Targetting the northern block of gobboes for now.

"You're damn right we don't have time for this!" Jerod yells out in answer to the gnome. Grimacing at the prospect of having a battle, HERE, in the sewers, the actor realizes his already slim window of salvaging his expensive clothing diminishes by the second...and the blame lay squarely on that of the goblins.

If these goblins had any idea the cost of this cravat, or the trouble I need go to obtain my exact specifications of..! he began to think in anger to himself, when suddenly he took an arrow to the chest, cutting off his inner rant.

"Aghh!" he coughed, reflexively clutching his wound. The arrow had caught him in the side near his arm, his studded leather having kept it from being fatal. He looked down in disbelief and shock, and where there once was silken inlaid finery of amber color, now appeared a dark crimson, stained and ruined. He blinked his eyes, the battle sense coming back to him in an instant, but anger was not lost on him.

"Hey!" he shouted at the goblins, shaking his fist, enraged, as another arrow flew in but deflected harmlessly away, Do you have any damn idea how much this suit cost!!" Muttering to himself,"That's it...I'm sick of goblins." he huddled defensively, readying a spell, targeting the obvious leader of the group, the one that he deemed responsible.

Full action: Cast Sleep on Kobold Caster
Free Action: Seethe with anger...fashionably.

Round 2 Goblins' Turn:

Jerod: -4
Lhuar: -4

Party is up; Jerod needs to give me 2 concentration checks or lose spell.

Drawing his rapier with an impressively smooth action, as though he were a practiced fencer or some latent action hero, Jerod secretly tried to recall everything he'd learned about sword-fighting, which wasn't much. He held his blade out at the ready, crouching in a defensive stance and staring into the face of the green-skinned humanoids. He put on a grim expression, gritting his teeth and snarling in what he felt was his best, most intimidating growl. "Come on you lazy dogs," he yelled threateningly, "..you have no chance! Best go back to drinking your sewage scum while you still can! If you wish to face death this early then so be it, and by my hand.." he continued, getting more forceful with each word, "you...shall.. Too many of them, Marcello thought. Not enough of us. Time to fix that. He noted two of the foul-smelling greenskins charging from the north, muck splashing up from their feet as they went. It did not distract him from his Art, and soon the words were finished. He sent the soporific dweomer out to the ones to the east - maybe Pallius could reach the caster, cut off the head before these creatures ended them all.

The spell complete, he turned his attention to the ones near him. He pulled a stiletto from his belt, and brandished it at the nearest goblin. "Come and face me, verdino. A Wescrani does not fall to letame such as you!" He slashed at the goblin, drawing blood, surprising goblin and nobleman alike.

Mechanics:

Sleep finishes. Targetting the intersection of squares E26, E27, F26 and F27. This should catch 4 goblins without causing a problem for Pallius. Will Save DC 16.
