@MyTThor: What 2 concepts? I only see one.

100 posts so Updated List to keep things clear for me:

Fubar: half-orc paladin, CST
Tuktuk: gnome alchemist, EST
Ferro Hasslebottom - halfling bard, PST
Gregor Arcadis - human alchemist, EST
Poshment - gnome paladin, CST (waiting for background)
Solomon Knox - human inquisitor, EST
Kaliana - human fighter, EST
Talsin - halfling monk, CST
Charles - human fighter (unbreakable), CST
Aldis Cardinask - halfling fighter, EST
Loco Billo - Dwarf rogue, MST
Jerome Elhazad - Gnome fighter, CST
Shel Whispertongue - halfling rogue, EST
Callandor - human (?) inquisitor, EST
Naeli Velbottis - tiefling sorcerer, (timezone?)

Here's the crunch that for Solomon. I'm using the Obsidian Portal account from which I'm running my own campaign. I found it much more convenient, but if you have a problem with that I'll move it over here.

Solomon Knox Character Sheet

I'll get an expanded backstory and explanation for his motivations hopefully up by the end of tomorrow, but I'll definitely have it all done by the deadline.

Callandor - human (?) inquisitor, EST

Sorry, got sidetracked and just put up the first one to avoid losing what I had written.

Callandor is human, indeed, but I am PST. I am good for a post every day and prefer to post more than once per day.

and the other character:

Itherindel of Erastil (inquisitor preacher/heretic):
Itherindel is a half-elven, half human follower of Erastil. He was born in Westcrown, but was either orphaned or abandoned in a time before his memory. Never having known a family scraping to survive on the streets, he was caught stealing bread and fled the city at the age of 13.

He found a home within the embracing community of Erastil, where his keen senses made him accepted at least as much as his mixed heritage garnered him prejudice. A valued member of a small village in the Turanian Hills, during a journey to Westcrown from his village for supplies, he came upon a great white elk in a peaceful glade, which he took to be a sign. He wandered the woods for days awaiting what he believed to be his mission from Erastil. He came to understand that the community to which he belonged was bigger than his village.

When he returned home, he told of this white elk and his ideas of Erastil's purpose in his life. He was to unite the people of Westcrown along with the surrounding areas in in a great family and throw off the iron fist of the House of Thrune. He spoke of the ideas of the clerics of Erastil as small-minded, told them that there was no community to speak of while the grip of evil held the people of the city. His spiritual leader, the cleric of Erastil who led the village, told him what he spoke of was heresy, that the way was to be strong in their community, not worry about the fate of the city-dwellers. The powers he felt in his very body, however the grace mighty Erastil had given him and continued to grant despite his "heretical" ideas, make him strong in his faith.

Itherindel is primarily an archer, whereas Callandor would be a more traditional melee striker.

And here is Naeli's character write-up...

Background:

Naeli read the letter once more.

“Daughter—“

She knew right then he wanted something of her.

“Daughter, please return to the city. Your family needs you. Armin has gone missing these past two weeks. Lady Velbottis—“ And that was all would call the woman if he wished to remain on Naeli’s good side. Not mother. Never mother.

“Lady Velbottis thinks he’s run off with some gold-digging floozy, a Petrell or a Narvestori maybe. And with these troubles in the city after dark, the talk of night beasts and such, she fears the worst. But I know better, and I know your brother. He’s fallen in with a suspicious crowd lately. Some group calling themselves “Freedom’s March” or some such nonsense. No doubt he’s trying to prove some point to me. How he is too good to take up his family’s name and place at court. This group is known to have involved non-humans. I am even told that some of those of your…nature are involved.

“I know I haven’t written much recently. Have I missed letters from you?” She rolled her eyes. “We need your help. You two were always close, regardless of how heated our own arguments were. He trusts you. You can bring him back to us. Please don’t let my past sins damage this family more than they already have. Please come home.

“P.S. My Lady Velbottis has repaired to our country villa early this year. The heartbreak has been too much for her, I’m sure."

Naeli leaned forward and rested her elbows on the edge of the parapet, tugging her ever-present hood tighter over her head. I’m your past sin, father. And the damage has already been done. She studied the night’s darkness, hanging heavy over the forested hills below. Waiting to hear some clear answer, some path laid out that she had only to follow. But as always, all she heard were the whispers. The dark designs and deadly promises. The sweet sayings and barbed insults. The voices of Hell courted her and reviled her all the same.

Home, she thought. Naeli turned away from the edge suddenly, leaving the letter to drift away in the breeze.

--

Naeli Velbottis is the secret shame of the Velbottis family, minor nobility in the Chelxian city of Westcrown. Her father, Artem, was once an influential mage, with political, social, and economic contacts that stretched all the way to the capital of Egorian. In his pride, he gambled it all on an illicit rendezvous with an infernal power. The product of that rendezvous, Naeli, is only the most visible result of his fall from grace. Born a Tiefling, being a member of the nobility did little to shelter her from the bigotry and discrimination all her kind face. If anything, it concentrated and empowered that approbation, as she was viewed as a black mark upon all the nobility of the city, and a symbol of all that Egorian’s current rulers had wrought on great Cheliax. Most aggrieved was Artem’s wife, the Lady Wilhemina Velbottis, who never accepted Naeli and eventually succeeded in driving her from the family estate. Artem and Wilhemina’s natural born son, Armin, is two years younger than Naeli and now heir to the family.
Through her father’s intervention, Naeli found placement in a school for the arcane arts, but soon wore out her welcome. She came to rest at the Whisperwood settlement of Senara, a collection of outcasts much like herself – where her father’s letter finally found her.

Personality:

At times impetuous and fiery, Naeli can just as easily command a room as fade into the background. Her experiences and the abuse of her father’s wife have left her angry and bitterly sarcastic, rather than beaten down and shy. She knows the power she can command and is not afraid to use it to protect herself and those she cares for. Her ability and willingness to go incognito as an elf or half-elf has gained for her an assured self-confidence, although at times when she has pressed her luck she has found herself in situations that have led to bloodshed. She often willfully antagonizes those uncomfortable with her appearance or heritage. Still young at 22, she finds herself adrift and in need of a direction for her life.

Appearance:

Naeli’s infernal features are atypically mild for one of her heritage and temperament. With only small forehead horns, and the delicate features and swept back ears more reminiscent of a half-elf, with some creative hairstyling and other such measures, she finds it easy in many cases to pass as an elf. Her reddish hair and ruddy skin present as a native of the warmer latitudes – perhaps Rahadoum or Qadira. If you don’t notice the subtle leopard-like skin patterning that runs from the small of her back, up over her shoulders and the sides of her neck (readily concealed by makeup), the only feature that might give the unobservant pause are her eyes – a brilliant amber that at times seem to sparkle with an inner fire. As for the tail, well, that is easily if uncomfortably tucked away when needed.

@Naeli: There's one major issue with your tiefling; the racial heritage you rolled (qlippoth) is abyssal not infernal, so your sorcerer bloodline does not make sense. You would either have to choose the abyssal bloodline or the cross-blooded archetype.

Ah, yeah, that is a problem. Thanks!

Corrected to Abyssal bloodline. Slight attribute modification to match.

Lucendar wrote:

Okuthor, you just submitted the same character concept again for my CoT game as you did for Savage Tide. And second, your oracle power at 1st level is not going to work in my PbP b/c I reveal all die rolls in combat. You may want to rethink concept.

Misfortune (Ex): At 1st level, as an immediate action, you can force a creature within 30 feet to re-roll any one d20 roll that it has just made before the results of the roll are revealed. The creature must take the result of the re-roll, even if it's worse than the original roll. Once a creature has suffered from your misfortune, it cannot be the target of this revelation again for 1 day.

I know, but i have 3 characters i am going to keep working on to get one in, or give up, i am 0-5 so far. Hes changed from a mask to scarf, still scarred and raspy voice. Trying to flesh him out more so hes a good choice. I see him as a sneaky, unsure and willing to be violent noble that got a burn notice. (watch too much tv)

He still loves chelix, and needs to find himself and his place in this world.

I actually get to chose, fortune and misfortune are added to my choices, and forgot to put it on the small sheet i posted. i would take Cloak of Darkness.

Anyone know if there is a trait that can get you acrobatics as a class skill?

I've started adding stats and mechanics to Kiliana. Going with Curve Blade, Elven. She will specialize in disarming her opponents, though she can hit hard. Still not sure on the secodn trait. Background is in the profile with soem tweaks.

@I know magic
Wisdom in the Flesh if you have a high Wis does what you want and more, but you have to follow Irori

The Madwand here, named for a Zelazny character recently. He was left out of another AP recruitment, so he can change out his campaign trait. His background has a strong tie to a cousin from Westcrown -- you can fill in the name.

I am EST. The applicants so far looked light on arcane. The Madwand can be a capable frontliner too if needed.

I was thinking of a summoner, but most DMs hate them so much I don't even try to get that janky class through anymore.

@I know magic: This is the only trait I know of that gives you Acrobatics as a class skill.

There are several that give you bonuses to it, but they don't make it a class skill.

perhaps i'll just find one that gives a bonus to it.

Righty, I've written Solomon Knox's backstory.

It's in my profile. I apologize if it's a little long.

...I hate this site sometimes...had the background all written and I click save and the site crashes and I cant recover my writing....

I hope to have everything posted soon...*grumbles*

Here's a submission for markofbane, pacific time zone. I still need to flush out Tauni's equipment and details, but her description, personality and background are included in the profile.

She is a Chaotic Good Cleric of Milani, merciful healer archetype. Her campaign trait is conspiracy theorist (perception).

There finally done. Everything should be in this character profile now. Let me know if there is anything you want me to change oh great DM.

Re-did the crunch on Naeli, fyi. Still Abyssal...

If you use Mozilla Firefox, like me, there is this free program, which helps you recover lost entries (has helped me a ton in PbP!): Link

Just make a trait up for yourself. The formula works as follows.

+1 to a given skill. Another skill is a class skill.

or

+1 to a given skill - and that skill is a class skill

Of course it has to make sense for the character....it has to effectively enhance a cool character concept. Let the trait be fluffy!
Needless to say this is all subject to DM approval.
For example (from the top of my head - ie. NOT from the RAW):

Trait: Mountain Climber
+1 Acrobatics and Climb is a class skill

Athletic Performer
+1 Acrobatics and Perform:Dance is a class skill.

World Traveller
+1 Know Local and Know Local is a class skill

Rather closer to the deadline than I intended, but the character concept took a right-angle on me halfway through and it took a little while for everything to come together...

DAVRYN

Background
Orphans are cheap in Westcrown, if you know the right people. Davryn was brought to The House when he was very young, and bears an assortment of tattoos and ritualistic scars to bear witness to his time among the cultists. When he about ten years old they performed a terrifying ritual to initiate him into the Asmodean church and bind him to an incomprehensible being that they hoped to use for their own fell purposes. The hellish being arrived and knelt before him, a coal-black a seductress with red vertically slitted eyes and razor sharp teeth and talons.

The youth did as his tormentors demanded of him for years, until he had grown to a young man's stature and one day his companion idly asked of him "Master, why do we obey these fools?" It gave Davryn pause, and one night while the bulk of the cult was out and about they made their escape. He left a few bodies behind him, along with the burned shell of the building he grew up in. Davryn was hopelessly naieve of life on the streets, but was very good at causing distractions. He managed to steal enough to survive until he fell in with a small troup of players who supplemented the money they made from acting with judicious thievery, where they could get away with it.

Personality & Appearance
Davryn approaches every day with an odd mix of cheerful naievity and paranoia. He knows what the church and cults are doing, and knows that at least a few of the cultists that he escaped from are probably out to get him; at the same time he's discovered a sprawling city with wonders to match its faults and solid friends that he can count on. Davryn is a man in his early 20s. He's on the short side of average and lean enough that most would call him scrawny. Since leaving The House, his Eidolon has changed with his temperment. She can still be vicious, but now it's channeled into protectiveness. Her skin has changed to a marbled, almost opalescent white and her eyes are blue (but still slitted). As Davryn has matured, she has also become more buxsom.
I find that on games here at Paizo, I end up thinking of my character as looking very similar to the avatar I pick... so I'm waiting to fill in the finer details of his facial appearance until I find an avatar that seems appropriate.

Ties to Westcrown
• Recently, Davryn has lost his troupe. He doesn't believe they would have left without him, but when he came back from worship they were just... gone. He doesn't know if they've gone to ground to hide from something or if they're rotting in prison somewhere and is quite worried.
• Davryn hates the chuch of Asmodeus passionately. He'd love to see every cathedral in the city torn down brick-by-brick, but knows he'll have to settle for smaller victories. He did have some minor success at playing one rival cult off against another, but the whole experience left him bitter about just how little power he had to change anything of consequence.
• Davryn felt drawn to Shelyn's worship from when he first witnessed a service/performance. He has become a devout follower of the Eternal Rose and is a frequent participant in the festivities. He has a ladyfriend who he met at a one of Shelyn's ceremonies and has come to know fairly well; he would certainly like to get to know her better...

Rough outline of the crunch:
Davryn
CG Human (heart of the streets)
Summoner 1

STR 10
DEX 16
CON 13
INT 12
WIS 14
CHA 14

Knowledge (local) +1+1+3 = +5
Knowledge (religion) +1+1+3 = +5
Perform (act) +2+1+0 = +3
Profession (thief) +2+1+3 = +6

Languages: Common, Infernal

Traits/Feats
Diabolist Raised
Inner Beauty
Extra Evolution
Skill Focus: Knowledge (local)

Heart of the Streets: Humans from bustling cities are skilled with crowds. They gain a +1 bonus on Reflex saves and a +1 dodge bonus to Armor Class when adjacent to at least two other allies. Crowds do not count as difficult terrain for them. This racial trait replaces the skilled racial trait.

Eidolon - Biped
Bite
Climb
Improved natural armor
(open) Skilled?

If we don't end up with a rogue or bard who does this sort of thing, I might take the deft hands feat and swap out knowledge (religion) and profession (thief) for disable device and sleight of hand. I could also have my Eidolon be good at the sneaky stuff, if needed.

While I was reading up on summoners, I came to the conclusion that being an Eidolon is an unpleasant existance. You're so closely bound to a mortal that if his alignment ever changes yours does too, you can be summoned from you home at a moment's notice, and you have to do everything your mortal says without any reward. Rough life.

Well, the moment of truth...I wish I could pick more applicants but 5 is my limit. While not the most optimally created party, these were the submissions that most appealed to me. Without further ado, here are the applicants picked:

Kaliana - half-elf fighter
Callandor the True - human inquisitor
Shel Whispertongue - halfling rogue
Loco Billo Billcrag - dwarf rogue
Tauni Desba - human cleric

To those not selected, thanks and I will keep you in mind should a replacement be needed. For those selected, please proceed here: Link to OOC thread

Congratulations to everyone who succeeded.

Lucendar, if you've got the time I'd appreciate any criticism you have for my character.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber

@Rasputin: I don't have any criticism, I enjoyed reading the character concept a lot due to his background. However, I had to make a decision on party composition and I really felt the party as constructed by then, without a mage, needed more front line help in combat situations and your character's low Strength (10) ultimately made me decide not to pick him. By your feats, I see you planned on making him a ranged combatant and I needed melee. It is a good concept and I am sure you will have luck placing him in another PbP or I may call on him, if a replacement is needed.

I must protest your blatant anti-Outsider bias in selecting your group!

Just kidding! I've really enjoyed reading through some of your GM'd campaigns, and hope I can snag a slot with you in a future endeavour...

Bah! he has a kender-bias......

Good luck L!

Bah, you guys have it easy. *Everyone* has an anti-gnoll bias!

:P

Enjoy your game! I'll probably lurk for a while to see your take on Cheliax...

Thank you very much.

Again, congrats to all the winners. May it be a merry campaign.
