I agree 100%. A 30 second post informing people you will be gone for the weekend, or a week, or whatever is always appreciated -- and this foes for players as well as the DM. There is nothing worse than being in a combat and having the bard or fighter not post for 2-3 days. If someone is taking off, list how your character is likely to act, then someone or the DM can run the character to avoid big delays.
Speaking if which tomorrow is one of those days for me. Big production, stage hand, yadaa-yadda.
May get on a little via mobile on break but won't have hero lab and map access.

Yeah I know, I work in NH a lot. VZW arena, Meadowbrook, Capitol Center for Arts in Concord.
In mass I do more colleges and little community summer concert series on gazebos in parks and such... my colleague does the boston bar scene/concert venue stuff, I usually skip it. Too many old habits of mine on display at times I find..

You gonna make it to the con in Nashua next weekend? A friend and I are going to make a weekend of it, pretty much the only tabletop I get to play these days.

Jeb you really need to explain to andrek that there are a couple of kermits and a 4000 pound frog demon with rock skin out there so he can get his knowledge on.
Have you seen how creepy these guys are?

Pretty sure I have seen that guy before, forget whether he is a Browns or a Redskins fan though.

Hey what's the update from the Valley and Wizard teams?
As for the Lost City Seekers (I'm making jerseys, y'all) are down by three points against a mysterious animal problem. So far we've got three NPC casualties, two of which were fatal. Midnight and the wolves are closing in! Oh noes.
We're looking forward to the addition of a charming dwarf and a delightfully menacing avenger to the team, and one day we might live long enough to see the sea.
So, How about you guys in the other parties?

Damned from here to Eternity,
God ha' mercy on such as we,
Baa! Yah! Bah!"

Guys I'm in big trouble I think I have to put my game on hiatus I am so so sorry! My laptop screen is busted too much to use now, dead pixels spread over the menu bar and a good portion of the screen, and I haven't even got it in to the apple store to see how long/much to fix it.
My car didn't pass inspection, Toyota 4-runner with 140,000+ miles... I have rust on the frame that I didn't know was there and I have to find out if it's going to be worth saving the vehicle. My car is at the shop and I'm carpooling to work which is pretty normal for my work anyway but both aspects of my work are changing and taking off in a lot of unexpected ways, both the big productions where I'm a stage hand and the little shows where I do everything.
At the big shows I got a raise and started getting show call which means I don't get cut during the actual performance, I'm on hand for set changes and so on. And at the small shows, instead of riding along with my boss, I am going off on my own with my own helper more and more. All of this means I'm growing in my career which is wonderful but more and more it is becoming the norm to overnight in cheap motels or camp out at venues for long stretches of work. When I do come home there is a tiny window to sleep before doing it again. I'm so burnt out all the time.
On the road I used to bring laptop, ipad and smartphone albeit no data plan for some time now, but there was always lots of wifi and lots of downtime. That just isn't the case anymore. I can fix some of this stuff, in fact I definitely need to anyway, but even as I do I will be playing catch up and really fighting an uphill battle.
You guys know how passionate I am about this campaign and I know I have sold you all really hard on it and done so much recruiting, even very recently. All I can say is I really misjudged my situation and circumstances and now I am giant ball of stress over it.
Please you guys Ineed some time to regroup if I keep trying to post right now with all that is going on the quality of the rulings and narrative will just continue to suffer and you guys will not get the game you deserve.
I really think some kind of hiatus would be best at this point.
Also if anyone wants to step up as co-gm, or substitute-gm? That could be cool.
September is supposed to be a little slower for me at work but really thats no help because I will have to use september to play catch up on literally everything else in my life that has taken a backseat to work... Then october will be slammin again. November and december. it depends... If I go union or not. January and February are the months that are absolutely dead with no work for weeks at a time normally and by then I will have some kind of homeostasis and forecast of what the rest of the year looks like.
I am typing this message on a friends computer, I still haven't been home since the last time I posted, so pardon the wall of text and pardon if there are specific questions in the gameplay and discussion threads for the individual games, I have not even had a chance to read those posts yet, I just came straight here to write this while I have a chance. So you guys that check this thread a lot, like Mak and Damien, can you please tell the WA and Barakus players that I posted this here?
AAGGHH so sorry about all this guys. Trust me I am thinking about all of your PC's and the adventures I wish we were having while I'm at work I just can't do anything about it! I have only an ipad 2 that barely holds it's charge and charges verryyy sloowlyy. I don't dare bring my laptop with the dying pixels on the road anymore.
I had a bunch of old smartphones before too that I used to use over wifi but I gave them to various members of my family over the past 6 months or so. So right at this very moment when I'm on the road I have like zero connectivity. And I'm on the road like ALL THE TIME.
Ok I gotta run, I'll be back at my busted computer by tomorrow Fri
DM Grimmy |
Ugh hit submit by accident. Be back home tomorow Fri by the evening and talk more then.
I have to look at my funds, find out if my vehicle is worth salvaging, find out if apple care will cover my dead macbook screen by some miracle, and if all works out favorably here's the best case scenario I can imagine, if any of you guys want to put up with me after all this nonsense.
With working car and laptop and smartphone with mobile data: "Valley of the Shrines" and "Wizard's Amulet" are both close to a good breaking point for a hiatus after which they could be eventually resurected as "The Tomb of Abysthor" and "The Crucible of Freya" repectively, (or condensed into one depending on whatcha-callit/attrition.) Barakus I would want to try to play through to the end of the Levoca scenario then hiatus and return for Lost City of Barakus proper.
Worst case scenario, if I have no good laptop and mobile devices and I'm carpooling 100% of the time, there's just no way to post regularly at all ad I have to make the games inactive for now even though we're at awkward points to do so.
Ok I'll be back tomorow to read the other threads sorry guys, sorry sorry sorry. You wouldn't believe how stressed I am about all this, I walk around with a pit in my stomache sopme days over it.

Ouch - take your time to get things together. Stressing out about the game is the last thing you should be doing. Get your life together, and then if you have the time, come back and restart things.
On the flip side - congrats that you have more work and are getting raises/promotions.
Damien "Wet" Winters |
Ouch, I'm sorry to hear your having so much trouble. But like Ghaelja says, it sounds like this campaign is the least of your worries right now.
I appreciate that you are so invested in keeping this going and I very much hope you are able to continue at some point but take care of your personal life first. I'm glad to hear things seem to be going well, if extremely hectic.
I'll look forward to an update on your situation later. For the moment, just take care. We'll be here.
Kevezyat Faen |
Absolutely.
These games should be the de-stressor in your life, not adding to it :)
Get your RL situation figured out and speaking for myself, I'll be here waiting if you decide to continue.
Indeed, glad to hear that your career is progressing well ,even if it disrupts other parts of your life.
Take a deep breath and don't worry about us, we'll miss you and the game while you're away, but somehow we'll survive :)
Vhillish Quarrelwick |
I'll echo everyone else's words - the game(s) are the opportunity to de-stress and indulge in creativeness in a unique theatre.
RL has a nasty habit of throwing you curve balls and I know exactly how you feel hombre - recently took the (very) tough decision to mothball a Slavic legend heavy version of Kingmaker I'd been building for a year to run.
Likewise my "Iobarian Saga" which is my Pathfinder version of ye olde TSR UK scenarios - The Sentinel and The Gauntlet, has very-very reluctantly been put on the deep freeze. Hated doing it, but hated not running it for my great group of players even more.
Step back, regroup, recharge and rekindle when ready. Most of us will still be here as/when we get the call and will continue this truly awesome epic with you by Jingo! :)
