Maerar |
"I don't desire to keep them nor do I want to relive that moment. The fact of the matter is these scars don't just mar my flesh, they are scars on my soul as well. They were caused by the crystal tree I just mentioned." If she was what she looked like she had the same origin as the tree and as such might know the methods behind the scarring. That would explain her interest in them. The little one really was one to keep an eye on.
Garron |
Well met lord dragon, we don't know exactly why we're here. Most likely the stair called us here due to some massive event that's gonna strike in the near future.
Umbra Lord Loexvivor |
Loex looks at Maerar regarding the Crystal Tree, "Crystals are known to have an effect on the soul and bending reality. Did that crystal tree try to capture your soul? Legend says that I started out as a dragon, maybe a flesh dragon, seeking redemption and that a crystal heard my soul's request and captured it? And after 200 years, this is how I became who I am today. I do not have any recollection of my previous life, or what my request for redemption was, or if it is even true? I do have some bad habits I need to be rid of but I am not sure if that is part of my redemption or something I need to do to better myself."
Loex turns his attention to Garron, "Well met and it looks like we have something in common. I do hope we are here for something important and not some sort of errand. It is true that I have many years but I do prefer it not wasted by something meaningless."
Then his eyes look at Barrett and then Loex's head follows, "Wet your throat with what? Isn't your throat already wet?"
Loex only seems to be breathing when speaking. Otherwise, he does not breathe.
A sparkle of light revels razor sharp keen edges on Loex's teeth, claws, wings, tentacles, tail, and spikes sticking out from his crystal skin, trying not to be condescending to the Dhampir but his bad habits of vanity are revealed, "I am a Crystal Dragon stronger and more beautiful than any of my kind." Loex grimaces looking like he is punishing himself but does not correct himself.
Sashin |
"A dragon, made from crystals...? Oh, I haven't properly introduced myself."
Sashin dismisses her alter self spell, growing to her natural size, and assuming her natural form, a large two-headed dragon, with skin the color of shadows, and dark tattoos and glittering piercings all across her skin.
"I am Sashin, Hunter of Shadows, and protector of the Door to the Shadow Plane. You are much older than I, elder." her right head says.
"My people were created from shadow, perhaps even by the ancient being known in my world as Zon-Kuthon." her left concludes.
Umbra Lord Loexvivor |
"Impressive! Loex's pauldrons begin to glow, he shrinks down to a medium size half-dragon then instantly transforms back to himself. "However I do prefer to remain a dragon when I alter my appearance to fit into small areas or manipulate things like a humanoid. Although I must admit, I do find your two heads quite fascinating and wish I also had the same."
Lady Aannra One |
Nods to the man she was talking to and heads around the room.
She chats with a few, getting to know them, being polite and interested,
then moves around until she is standing next to Garron as he is just saying, she places friendly hand on his arm looks to the subject of his comment.
Well met lord dragon, we don't know exactly why we're here. Most likely the stair called us here due to some massive event that's gonna strike in the near future.
Sashin |
"I have found that an actual humanoid form has a better affect on those humanoids I intend to talk to. Besides, I can walk among them undisturbed when I choose."
"Yes, I am blessed with the might of two heads. Although, it was this same curse that got me cast out of my mothers' lair. I am nothing if not thankful for her actions, as they have led me to my current path."
"It is fascinating, and comforting, to find another true dragon among the Lords. May I have your name, and titles?"
Yin, Daughter of Nug |
Yin smiles at Maerar
"I know it was the tree, I heard you. Or maybe I didn't. But I knew anyway. I just wondered why you did not heal them. Was I impolite? I was sure there were some species that had a habit of keeping memories like that. I'm sorry if I offended you."
Following that outburst, Yin quickly flies over to the two-headed dragon, hovering in front of each head, alternating between the two several times, clearly fascinated by what she sees
"Are you twins? You each have a brain don't you? So...are you two people?"
Umbra Lord Loexvivor |
Loex frowns, "I can not fathom such a thing as being something else than a dragon. The most I will change into is a humanoid dragon because our sword-like claws get in the way of manipulating humanoid created devices and I have had to adventure into small areas inhabited or once inhabited by humanoids which is always too small for our mighty forms."
Loex nods, "I never had a mother but you should be proud of your two heads, it makes you stronger and exotic for your kind which I know is an Umbral Dragon."
K.Arcana: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (14) + 24 = 38 {Making sure that Loex did not have a synaptic lapse ... lol}
Sashin |
"Oh, no, little one. While we do have a brain for each, they are both connected."
"Both heads are me, and I am both heads."
@Loex "I usually take the form of a scaled humanoid, usually with claws and a bite. It allows me to still feel my strength, while gaining the hands necessary for the finer things."
"Have you met others of my kind, Lord? The rest are not as civilized as myself, I must admit."
Umbra Lord Loexvivor |
Being proud of his title and name, he stands proudly, "Yes ... yes ... forgive my manners, introductions are important. My name is Umbra Lord Loexvivor, Bender of Reality and Master of the Umbra."
Loexvivor means Deadly Beautiful
Yin, Daughter of Nug |
Hearing Sashins answer, Yin happily claps her hands and smiles
"Then you are like my twin and me. You are two heads, with one mind. And we are one head, with 2 minds. Very pleased to meet you, both of you who are one."
While hovering, Yin does a little curtsie towards Sashin, then continues to stare at him, happy and unashamed
Mineire the Gossamer Merchant |
The merchant-bartender pulls out a finely-bound book and a pen and begins sketching the two dragons speaking to each other, both in their larger and smaller forms, making notes in the margins.
Mineire the Gossamer Merchant |
"Thank you. I like to put my travel experiences to paper. I make notes and keep them for reference, sometimes make field notes on general topics and sell copies."
Maerar |
"It did try to capture my soul and actually had captured several thousand souls already. The thing was made by the Dwimmerlaik though, I'm not sure it was the crystal. I have seen plenty of crystals that were perfectly safe." He sighed. This place was getting very crowded. Either the stair was gathering them or the Dwimmerlaik were to wipe them all out in one fell swoop.
"You weren't impolite, it's just a touchy subject. It killed one of my closest friends."
Yin, Daughter of Nug |
Yin sees Sashin focus both sets of her eyes on something
"What are you looking for? I can help!"
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
"Oh, look, a squirrel!"
Yin flies over to Skafin
"But it has no fluffy tail in this world. Weird."
Yin then hears Maerar adress her and stops curiously eyeing the psi crystal to flutter back over to him.
"I'm very sorry to hear that. Is it a bad memory? If you don't keep the scars to remind yourself of it, is it something you would like to forget? I can make you forget it killed your friend if you want. Like, I can't make you forget that he's dead but I can make it so you don't remember how it happened."
She just doesn't quite understand it may be too direct.
Mineire the Gossamer Merchant |
"Drawing this unique experience. It isn't every day you see such unique specimens of dragon meeting peacefully. Normally it is all claws and wings and shouts. Don't worry, I won't be selling this one. I don't 'name names' as it is very bad for business." He turns the book, showing the drawing to the picture to the creature. "I apologize for the quality. Though I have some skill, I am constrained by the medium."
Umbra Lord Loexvivor |
Loex nods in agreement and happy to see himself drawn inside a book even though it could be better, "I do agree, they are good pictures and dragons do not always fight unless we have a reason. And right now, it would not be an useful use of our time."
Mineire the Gossamer Merchant |
"I do as well as I can. I think it necessary to preserve such things as best one can. So many different specimens. The interesting thing is, you two are from different worlds, but are formed along the same lines and have many similarities. Similarities with still uncountable others from uncountable worlds. So it is the same with the myriad humanoids. Contemporary or simultaneous, at times, development of identical or very similar characteristics. There is a pattern to creatures of a type, interesting how changing one line of the pattern changes arms to wings, or claws to fingers, adds a tail or a head here, subtracts a pair of eyes there..." he regards his drawing a moment, then continues filling details.
Yin, Daughter of Nug |
Excited now"O what's a squirrel, flying lady. They look like me but with tails?"
Yin thinks really hard
"I think so. They look similar. Let me try"
Yin casts a spell
*About a dozen variations of beings that look like Skafin, except featuring a fluffy tail and two tentacle appendages as "forearms" start floating around the two*
"I think thats what squirrels look like, if I remember correctly. Not exactly the same but at first glance I got you mixed up. Sorry about that"
Barrett Armstrong |
Then his eyes look at Barrett and then Loex's head follows, "Wet your throat with what? Isn't your throat already wet?"
"Just beer right now. Might end up switching to something harder, if things keep getting strange."
At this point it could be accurately said that Barrett considers himself relatively normal. Whether or not that is true is another matter entirely.
Wodin Earthbreaker |
Wodin thanks the waitress who brings him another drink, tipping her before beginning to sip at the mug once more. He watches the other converse, his calm smile returning. 'Getting worked up over making of misunderstandings is of foolishness. Must be making of better impression on others, yes,' the Paragon thinks to himself.
~Scolding self is wasting of time, comrade. There is much to be done!~ Wodin's psicrystal seems to love to pick the least opportune moments to add its 'wisdom'.
Alrzion |

Skafin hovers around them, looking at them with intent,
"They do look like me, that's amazing, Hay Aannra look, beings like me. She made me you know, gave me life, free will, the whole deal. I thought I was one of a kind and here I find other things like me. Gossamer is a most amazing thing. Also that's a neat track with the holographic projection."
spellcraft takes 10 for 28
"O Its magic"
Yin, Daughter of Nug |
"Magic, yes. I remember it being called so. I just will things to happen and reality usually agrees with me until I get tired."
Yin eyes Aannra, remembers an earlier exchange, then looks back at Skafin
"She made you? So you are her daughter? You look very different for being the same species. My mother made me too and gave me life. I think possibly she also gave me free will, but I think I had to make that one myself later too because i broke the one she gave me. I'm not totally sure about that."
Alrzion |
"Narr, she crafted me, formed me, built me. How, well Aannra says there is a thing called The Great Patten, others call it Gossamer, it is everywhere and when, in all things, but there are many kinds of forms to it, knowing the true name of the forms is what some like to learn, others Writers from both into new pattens. Some seek to master Umbra, the changing patten. Aannra is a master of Eidolon she can lock it, make it fixed. That's what she did with me she locked my Gossamer patten and I came into being. She says magic is really just the two forces acting on Gossamer, Eidolon and Umbra and all that is between. "
All the while he talk Aannra is looking your way, she says nothing just just smiles and looks on whole holding onto Garron's very big arm.
Garron |
Garron looks down at Aannra's hand, to her face, back to her hand, and then back to her face.
"yes?"
Lady Aannra One |
"Lord Garron, would you be so gentlemanly as to keep me company, its seem that some here find threatening a lady with... possible violence for a miner act of inpoliteness an acceptable form of behaviour. I would feel a lot safer with you here to protect from such."
She looks worriedly over at Wodin Earthbreaker at the bar then up at Garron's face.
Garron |
"Ya had a minor conflict with another lord, nuthin' to worry 'bout. No one is gonna start a fight here."
Garron lets forth a deep throaty laugh, wondering how in the world a Gossamer lord could be so cowardly.
Yin, Daughter of Nug |
"Ah, yep. Ei-do-lon and Umbra. I know those. I unravel things. You know, they say it's decay and disorganization and chaotic. But to me, it's just a blank canvas that fills itself again. You know how most beings die? To make place for their young, and their young after them? If there is too much creation it all becomes crowded and confusing. I tried it once, in a dream, in which I kept everything that came into being in it with me. I dreamt about 3 days before I gave up. If I dream only of non-creation and unravel everything in my dream that comes unbidden, then thats boring but I can do that for as long as I want.
I practised a lot in dreams, picking apart the strands that hold the patterns. But I never tried to form something myself in the real world, except by the force of will you call magic. Your Craftmother must be really smart to do that kind of thing."
Yin looks at Aannra, smiles back and does a small curtsie towards her, then looks back at Skafin
"How did she learn that? I want to make a tailless Squirrel too. But if I tried to pull on the strands they would just come apart."
For a moment, Yin is staring at blank air
"Oh, it also didn't work out in the future. I will have found a squirrel in a wood and try to make it be without tail, and gently tug on a gossamer strand making it up and the whole squirrel will just have fallen apart then and turn into nothing. I suppose in that case i'll not go search for a squirrel after all."
Umbra Lord Loexvivor |
Loex nods to Sashin, "Yes it is interesting and must be important to bring opposites together."
The he turns his attention to Barrett, "I never quite understood the reason for humanoids to drink liquids that alter their personalities. Are you not proud of your personalities?"
Lady Aannra One |
"Ya had a minor conflict with another lord, nuthin' to worry 'bout. No one is gonna start a fight here."
Garron lets forth a deep throaty laugh, wondering how in the world a Gossamer lord could be so cowardly.
She Pats his large arm and says
"Well you know what they say, Garron, its always best to 'Talk quietly and carry a very big stick.'"
She then go's back to looking at where Skafin is talking, and nods back at
Yin, Daughter of Nug.
Mineire the Gossamer Merchant |
"You lose some senses, yes, but that is not the primary draw. Strong drink is good business because people build these cages around themselves, cages of protocol and nerves, and they seek to be free of the cage for a time. Still others seek to forget pain, either present or past."
"There are more... exotic... drinks that have entirely different results. Heroism, happiness without the dulled senses, fond memories sampled for a time. These are considerably more expensive."
Alrzion |
"How did she learn that?."
"To make me it was Ninite froms and matter manipulation, for what your trying to do, a combination of Geno-Types and Gene-splicing both RnA and DnA, you would have to run a full bio simulation to asses verifiability but ounce you had the Geno-Type you could grow it in a bio-vat with some ease."
he says hoping to be helpfull
Wodin Earthbreaker |
For the purposes of everyone retaining their sanity (mostly his own, though), Wodin continues to nurse his drink, rather than responding to Aannra's request of the other Gossamer Lord.
Barrett Armstrong |
The he turns his attention to Barrett, "I never quite understood the reason for humanoids to drink liquids that alter their personalities. Are you not proud of your personalities?"
Barrett Armstrong is not particularly intelligent, not like Lady Aannra.
Barrett Armstrong is not particularly wise, not like Father Earthbreaker.
But he did have one thing, and that was a certain understanding in his life. He didn't mince words, he went where he pleased, and he generally lived and breathed by his own decisions. This is what he took pride in above all.
He replies almost instantly to Loexviver's question.
"Consider it like this: you say you transform your body to better suite your environment, yeah? Alcohol is just a normal fella's way of transforming to better fit a social environment."
"I am curious as well. To lose ones' senses in such a crude way, voluntarily? Surely that cannot be healthy, or a common occurrence."
"And I especially don't want to hear it from you, newt. You change your entire body when the mood suites you, what with that hat of yours. As for the health of it...well, all I got to say 'bout that is that if liquor is the thing that finally does me in I'll be mighty surprised."
Yin, Daughter of Nug |

Rolling Intelligence: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Rolling Wisdom: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20Yin understood too little, but grasps that she will not get the results she wants by trying regardless
"Hm. I think there were some words that don't carry meaning for me in your explanation. If we get to meet more, could you tell those to a friend of mine? So that it can translate for me in a way I understand?"
Mineire the Gossamer Merchant |

"And it is very common... on just about every gossamer where the inhabitants discovered fruit is more fun if you wait for it to ferment."
