Living in the Shadows

Game Master Dementia Walker

In recent days both the Thieves and Assassins guild have collapsed due to infighting, rivalry, and meddling from the city's government. However rather then having a calming effect on the crime in the city it has done quite the opposite and the city is now in chaos with many small gangs fighting and causing trouble.

As everyone knows, since the collapse of the Thieves and Assassins guilds, there is no protection for the shops and richer houses anymore so everyone has hired their own men. Some hired are just common thugs, but others have training. It pays well enough but you have to be willing to put up with the gangs that try to break in and kill you in order to steal everything. This is the reality of Freeport currently, law only exists if you can back it up with muscle.

Though Tobias never saw the full picture of the battle between the guilds he had seen enough to know it was brilliantly executed. The assassins' had their contracts and the thieves' had their smuggling, protection and, well, thievery. But over the course of a few years, tensions grew to a boiling point. And some very patient and powerful men were doing the manipulation from behind the scenes. The assassins would take out the thieves and the thieves would steal from their major sources of income. And both sides would set up the other for failure so many ended up in jail or in the ground. Tobias managed to stay out of the conflict and was always smart about his hits. Others were not and eventually the guild was found out and raided by the local law enforcement, most likely with some info from one of the thieves guilds.

Ever since the fall of the Midnight Sons and Daughters, Tobias Flint has found himself in a very odd situation. The guild had never really been a home but it was someplace familiar and it was a good source of income. One day he hoped to work his way up to the top so he could get into the files that detailed all the old contracts and eventually the one assigned to kill his mother all those years ago. Tobias was a patient man but this set back almost sent him back to square one. He had no idea where the files were or if they even existed anymore. His only option was to lay low for a while and attempt to get hired on by one of the more powerful nobles. He needed the money and a lot of information. Who tipped off the guards? Who was at the raid? What happened to the items confiscated from it?

Who was his father?

Weylyn wakes with a start, knife in hand. He relaxes when he sees a gull nipping at his boot.

"Ah, good morning clip. It's a bit early to wake me, you know?" he says, handing the bird a crust of bread.

The young man stands and stretches as though he might reach the rising sun, then begins his morning limbering routine.

Weylyn, though only 22, looks like an older man; years of hard living will do that. He seems a common enough gypsy: rough and tumble sandy hair bound up in a colorful headscarf, a well groomed beard, and weathered skin.

He wears soft, ankle high leather boots that seem to sprout a pair of billowy breeches that disappear beneath the jungle of silks and sashes tied about his waist.

After finishing his stretches, Weylyn dons his green, three quarter sleeved tunic followed by his tattered, but servicable leather armor. He rubs a thumb accross a stud over his heart for luck as is his custom.

Finally he straps on his scimitar, wraps his scarves about his neck, and scoops up his pack. Then, taking care to check for anyone looking in his direction, Weylyn make his careful way from his little spot where three rooves come together. Strolling the familiar rooftops, Weylyn breathes in the air of Freeport and catches the scent of Mama Girabaldi's mince meat pies.

She always cools them on the low sill...I could get one.

Without thinking too much, Weylyn's feet carry him toward the pie shop and breakfast.

Since coming to Freeport at age eighteen, Victor has joined the thieves guild and worked to the bone for them. He mainly operated as a burglar, breaking into houses, manors, and businesses to steal various items to be fenced, and as a smuggler, helping with said fencing and traveling stolen goods to various locations. Every once in a while, Victor was assigned to work protection. It was through there that he got his experience from fighting the Midnight Sons and Daughters. He lost some good friends throughout the years to the assassins. But, fortunately, he was able to take out a couple of them.

However, that all changed when the Guard came in and began to attack and make arrests, most likely with aid from the Midnights. To Victor, it was like what happened with Master Dolin all over again. It brought to him so much pain.

Now the young man finds himself laying low, hiding from the guard once more. He needs to find out who sold them out, what happened to the loot, the locations of the captured members, etc. So he'll spend his time subtly gathering information from various old contacts, trying to find some beginning to the trail. And, he'll ask around for any interesting targets (maybe a nobleman who won't miss some things missing). (Maybe the nobleman Tobias is working for ;))

Diplomacy (gather information about leads to individual behind raid): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Tobias Flint There are many job offers for muscle on the local job boards, but you know that they are all for low end shops or people that hold no real political power. Most of your informants and people that owed you favors have disappeared, either in the prisons or away from Freeport. But you think you still have a few you can tap. Roll a Knowledge Local

Weylyn Dell

DM Rolls:
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 161d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
You are confident that no one saw you as you leave your little home. You make it to the pie shop without incident.

Victor ManasYour search for people behind the raid doesn't turn up much. You are of the opinion that whomever pulled it off definitely didn't do it for the lime light. No one seems to know who it would be.

Your search for info on burglary targets turns up much better information, tapping one of your old informants He goes by the name of Colin, that never joined the guild, from when you were a freelance. He drops hits about a really juicy target that he heard about and wants you to meet him at 'the old meeting place.' When you joined the guild you never though you would go back to The Drunken Mermaid.

Male Human Rogue 1

Weylyn creeps to the window sill; two pies, fresh from the brick oven, cool on the low sill. The young gypsy slowly, quietly reaches up to take the smaller of the two, because greed never satisfies.

Something is odd about this one though. The other two pies he'd knicked from Mama Girabaldi's shop were smooth to the touch. This one has a raised design of some kind...

Weylyn looks at the pie to see a "W" embossed on it. Why...

Suddenly, a shadow looms over Weylyn's crouching form. "Ah HA! I knew I'd catch you today! You stole from me a month ago on Tuesday, you stole from me two weeks ago on Tuesday, and here you are trying to steal from me again on Tuesday! You are not a very clever thief, Weylyn."

At the sound of his name, his mind, which had been racing to find a way out of this, steps of the proverbial cliff and his curiosity takes over.

You know me?" says the shocked and frightened gypsy boy.

Mama Girabaldi throws open the door of the shop and steps out into the alley. "Of course I know you Weylyn Dell. Though I admit, it took me longer than normal to find out who you are. You are Marko and Stoya's son! Your father killed my father's brother's little cousin in a duel in Stonebridge. My family have never forgiven him for that."

She spits.

"But the way I hear it, it was a fair duel and in any case, you are not your father." She points to the pie. "I made that for you. It is a gift, and you cannot steal a gift. Now! Come inside and eat it."

Overwhelmed, Weylyn allows himself to be ushered inside. Mama Giribaldi sits him down and sets his pie on a real plate: she even gives him a fork.

"Good, yes?"

Weylyn nods as he swallows the last bite. "Thank you." He says, unsure how to put his gratitude into words.

Mama waves a dismissive hand. "It was the decent thing to do. Just don't make a habit of it, eh? Now get along. I have work to do."

Not sure what to make of this chance encounter, Weylyn decides it is a sign that his luck is good today. He turns toward the market square and the fat purses that surely await him there.

Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Gather Information 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Weylyn will look for targets likely carrying some money: preferably those who are not charitable to orphans and widows, corrupt officials, etc.

Weylyn also has Measure the mark, so if he decides to try to pick a pocket, he gets to know the perception result of the target before he tries to pick it. If he decides not to, he can roll bluff to disguise the attempt.

Victor nods at Colin. He heads to the Drunken Mermaid to meet up with him. He moves in, trying to keep a low profile. He also keeps an eye out for guards, opportunistic individuals, or if Colin is going to betray him in a moment of weakness during these chaotic and dark times. When Colin shows up, Victor whispers to him, "So, what have you got for me?"

I imagine Victor having Christian Bale's Batman voice for some reason.

Male Mostly Human Expert Lv1

Weylyn You don't notice many good marks on your way to the market, everyone has been holding their coin purses close since the collapse of the guilds due to all the rampant theft.

Once reaching the market, the normal bustle of activity puts people at ease and they are more lax about their purse security.

Look at the targets and roll for the ones you want to steal from. What are you gathering info on?

Target perceptions:
Minor noblewoman 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5, Noblewoman's guard 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13, Merchant 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10, Other pickpocket 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Tobias You know of a pretty well known freelance info broker named Colin and you know a few of his haunts. He can be found at the market, the docks at a place called the Drunken Mermaid, or a small flat in the middle district. Any choice to check is as good as another as far as you are concerned.

Victor

Colin's rolls:

Do I want to get this started early and meet at the Drunken Mermaid or wait? I'll go for the in character choice. His flat.

Tobias tries to run down a few old contacts but they are either being tight-lipped or gone into hiding like so many others. Now it is time see another, an experienced information broker by the name of Colin. He never joined a guild, preferring to work as a freelancer. It paid well for a long while but with most of the guilds gone he must be hurting for money and looking over his shoulder. A freelancer would have been the first person people would suspect of backstabbing. The half-elf knew a few places he could find Colin, the market, the dock, the Drunken Mermaid. All good public places but Tobias preferred to have the upper hand when dealing with people. So he decided on the mans flat in the middle district. Probably not his only safe house but nothing unnerved a man like showing up in his home.

Climb (if necessary): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 / take 10 =16

Disable Device (if necessary): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27 / take 10 =18
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Weylyn slides through the crowds, seeming to be just another shopper among the throng. He clears the other side of the square, a beaming smile on his sun-stung face, wondering how much he's taken.

I wonder what Old Dugan's been up to? I reckon I should pay him a visit, and see what he knows about the war...

Weylyn slowly wanders to the Drunken Mermaid, Dugan's favorite dive. He stops briefly in a darkened alcove to count his take when no one's about.

When he passes the doors of the little taver, Weylyn sweeps the room for familiar faces and signs of danger.

Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

If no danger...

Seeing Dugan across the room perched on his favorite stool, Weylyn crosses to the old thief, and slaps two silver pieces on the table, and slips into his practiced sailor speak.

"Pint o' sea-water for Ol'Dugan 'n me." He looks to Dugan. "How ya been mate?"

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1/Commoner 0

Victor nods. "Very nice. Like old times, huh? ...Fine. I'm desperate. 30-70 it is. So, what're the two digits? Also, is there anything you can tell me about this nobleman? Any traps I need to know about? Number of guards? Location of said vault?"

Also, is it too late for me to change and swap out some of my gear?

Male Mostly Human Expert Lv1

Victor Colin answers your questions, "No known traps, but noblemen like to think they are tricky, so I would keep on my toes were I you. The two known digits are 2, and 7 I can give you a rough map that shows the route that the man who made the delivery took and I know little about how many guards. You should probably scout the place out prior to heading in. But you probably know more about that then I. The nobleman is just some minor son of another nobleman that has too much money and not enough sense to spend it wisely." Sure you can change some stuff

Weylyn You manage to lift all the purses you try for, though you have to make a hasty retreat to another part of the market when the merchant lets out a shout right after you lift his.

Once you enter the Mermaid, Dugan looks up at you bleary eyed, already a few drinks deep. "Eh? Weylyn? That you? I've been keepin on. Not much work these days for 'honest folk' ya know?"

Tobis You find it quite easy to get into the flat, the window you used wasn't even locked. As you make your way through the single room you can tell by the things in it that it is nothing more then a meeting place for him to meet clients. There is nothing that could be traced back to him, that you could tell from your cursory once over. From a small planner that is open on the desk you can see that he has an appointment there in about an hour.

You waste a hr puffing away at your cigar. Soon enough you hear a key scrape in a lock. and Colin walks in looking surprised that someone is waiting for him.

Tobias is sitting in the darkest corner of the room, the light from the slowly setting sun only reveals his legs and lower torso. His chest and head are shrouded in darkness and smoke. He takes a long drag, the light from the cigar allows Colin to see who he is dealing with for a brief moment before the light dims.

"Surprised to see you still alive," he says in a voice already starting to deepen from the smoking. "It was rather easy to get in here." He lets the silence drag on for a moment before continuing. "I won't take up too much of your time seeing as you have another meeting soon. I'm here for two bits of information and I think you know what they are. First is I need a good employer with connections. The second is I need to know who raided the Midnight Sons and Daughters and where they took any confiscated goods. The law here is as crooked as the criminals so it could have ended up with anyone who had a grudge against the guild. Ain't got money to pay for the info, no one does anymore, but you know what I can do. I'm sure we can work something out."

Tobias Colin looks at you for a moment, "No need to be rude about it. Employ is easy, there are houses everywhere that are looking for muscle and seeing how your past might agree with that anyway I don't see any problems. Who raided your guild? It was the city constables, where any information they may have had went? That is anyone's guess. I have heard nothing." He hasn't moved from the door.

Weylyn Dugan looks at you out of the corner of his eye. "There is always work for those who look friend. Why just the other day I delivered a statue to a silly little fop. Got a pretty penny for the delivery and then again for selling the info about the delivery. Figure I could make some more selling it to you?"

Victor You can tell from the map that the vault is somewhere in the center of the manor. During your recon you manage to blend with the crowds around the estate rather well. you don't see any traps around the manor but there are at least two guards on every side, sometimes 3 or 4 patrolling through the gardens. You suspect there would be at least a few inside but know that most nobles don't like having guards in the houses.

I also made Knowledge checks and Diplomacy checks asking the people for more information about the nobleman.

Victor smiles as he pockets the gold he made off with. He searches the nearby stores for some advanced alchemic equipment he can use, like smokesticks.

Taking the guard schedules into account, Victor makes his way to the nearest brothel. He asks, "Excuse me, may I speak to the Madame of this brothel? I have some business I think she would be interested in."

By the way, what time is it in game?

Weylyn Dugan gives you another side ways look. "Well small enough I could carry it if that answers your question. I didn't exactly measure it. Does that mean you are paying me?"

Tobias Suddenly Colin looks livid and shouts at you. "All of them, you fool assassin! They all have their fingers in the pies, the political enemies they want killed, the priceless items that their rivals wont sell. They pull all the strings, that is why your petty guilds fell so easily. Even the people that though they were in charge were probably being manipulated from the shadows. None of you could see it because you were on the inside. Riches and records have been being moved for months. Who knows where to?"

Victor You find a alchemist easily enough in such a large town. He doesn't even blink when you ask for something that makes a thick dark smoke and proceeds to show you the rest of his wares Just subtract cost for amount you want from you gold, make it reasonable, if you want exotic alchemical components ask first.

The Madame is retrieved and looks you up and down "What are you looking for? You look like a young boy might be to your tastes, I can provide."

Different times for each of you. evening going on night for you due to recon. Mid day for Tobias and late morning for Weylyn. You are able to get general gossip about the nobleman but nothing useful.

In the blink of an eye a dagger appears in the assassin's hand, probably from some contraption in the sleeve of his coat. Its silvered edge gleams in the light. This weapon is made for killing demons. "Let's keep this civil Colin," he says getting up slowly and walking towards the informant. "I have not paid attention too much to the politics of this diseased city and that is my fault. And I never much cared for the guilds. But they gave a very deadly set of skills. Skills I would hate to have to waste on people belittling me and dancing around the subject like an annoying little gnat." At this point Tobias has gotten very close to Colin, enough to make him feel uncomfortable.

Intimidation: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

"All I need is a place to start. Can you do that for me?" The assassin now comes fully into the light. The hat still hides some of his face but another puff reveals a pair of green eyes, hardened by determination. They watch Colin's every movement without flinching.

Male Human Rogue (Burglar) 1/Commoner 0

Victor purchases a smokestick and thanks the alchemist. Subtracting 20 gp for the smokestick.

At the Madame's suggestion, Victor responds with a frown. He remains courteous. "No, thank you. I'm already spoken for. I'm actually asking if you or any of your employees would be interested in a job. I have an important job to do in the home of the nearby nobleman. However, his guards seem to want to block my way in. I'm curious if you and your girls would distract the guards at the front and in the garden so I may enter the building? "What am I going to do with a statue, Dugan? I can't store it. If you knew a buyer, that'd be a different story..."

The young man sips at his drink, wondering what the man will say.

Tobis Suddenly Colin seems much more polite. "Well if I were you, I would start with the Papadako's They have always had ties with the thieves guild and no one would benefit more from gaining assassin records. I hear that they have locked down all access to their manor recently, though no one knows why. That does not necessarily mean that that is were they will be however."

Victor "Let me ask the girls who are not busy, we don't generally leave the house but that is a lot of coin to say no to." She leaves you standing there and walks out. You are there for so long that you think she may have just left. But then she returns with two passable females. "These two would like to assist you. Though if anything happens to them it will be on your head!"

Weylyn Dugan looks back to his drink loosing interest in the conversation when he thinks no money is forth coming. "I don't know any hawkers Dell, you know that, but the statue wasn't the only thing in the vault."

You find the ancestral home of the Papadako's and there are a few warehouses owned by them down at the docks, but that is all you can turn up.

They are hiring guards to patrol the outsides of their home and warehouses.

Victor The women agree and take the alchemical item. You watch as they make their way to the front of the house soliciting the guards. The guards lead them into the guards area abandoning their routs.

you can enter the grounds through one of the many gates, over the fence, climb a tree etc.

My mistake, was posted from my phone.

Victor waits as the women to do their business. When the guards leave, he gets to work. He climbs over the fence that the two guards left open. After that, he moves through the grounds, silently and with precision, remaining on guard for any dangers.

Climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Perception vs Traps: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

When he reaches the manor, he slowly and carefully gets out his rope and grappling hook. Tying the rope to the hook, he tosses it up to the nearest window. He steadily climbs up the rope.

Taking 10 to throw the grappling hook (if there is such a check). With the wall to brace me while climbing the rope, then the DC should be somewhere around 0 and 5.

Climb to window: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

When he reaches the window, he puts his grappling hook and rope back into his pack. He checks the window for any traps or anyone inside the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Perception vs Traps: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

When he has a feeling that the coast is clear, he takes out his thieves tools and begins to work the lock on the window before opening it.
Disable Device to open locked window (if need be): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Wow! Nice rolls so far!

Male Human Rogue 1

"Obliged Dugan. Until next time..."

Weylyn glides out of the room and heads straight to the mansion to scope it out.

Seeing no guards, Weylyn takes advantage of the opportunity.

Climb 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Weylyn scales the outer wall with practiced ease and heads for a low window or cellar door.

I am hoping this ends with Victor and Weylyn arriving at the same time to meet up.

On vacation. Posts will be short until saturday and i will post as long as my phone has a battery. I also can't see my character sheet from wayfinder either.

Tobias was never one for lying and subtlety. He was the one you sent when you also wanted to send a message. That message being someone wanted you dead. So he approaches the family as himself. Better than trying to come up with a poorly concieved alias anyway. And he hoped the need for strength in these chaotic times would be enough to get him a job.

Victor

dice:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
you handily make your way over the fence and no one from the street or grounds notices you. You dodge your way from bush to tree making your way up to the mansion and once there handily climb up the face of the building. Seeing no one on the other side of the drapes the simple lock on the window quickly falls to your expertise. Once in the building you pull out your simple map again. You can tell the vault is on the third floor from it and that it is down a hall full of bedrooms. The room you are in appears to be a deserted sitting room. Probably a smoking room from the smell. There are two closed Doors.

Weylyn It was late morning for you and late evening for Victor, so you have about 6 hrs to kill before being at the same time aaas him. I will fast forward to that time assuming you were discovering where the mansion was and scoping it out until you saw the women distract the guards.

dice:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

You are confident no one saw you from the street or yard while you were scaling the wall and stealthily make your way to the ground floor finding a window propped open allowing a pleasant breeze to blow into the house, and a way for you to enter. You step into a small reading room, it's walls lined with books. There is one door exiting the room.

Tobias You approach the place that you know is hiring for the Papadako's. Upon entering you see that the hiring manager is someone you knew of from the guild. A rather sour fellow whom you never really liked. When you ask about jobs he smiles crookedly due to a scar and says. "I know your reputation. No need for a resume. What can I do for you?"

Tobias cringes inwardly at the prospect of working with this scum again but says nothing about it. "Just need some work," he says simply. It will take a while to establish himself in a new group and for that he will have to play nice. At least for a while. If accepted he will move slowly coaxing information out of the others. But not too slowly. Everyday the information he needs will most likely move further and further away. So for now, any opportunity to make himself look good to others will be most helpful. "But I am not doing any of that roughing up old men for protection money. I killed men like that and you know I can do a lot more. Something worth my time or I'll take my resume else where."

Victor looks intently at the map before folding it and placing his pocket. He takes the time to investigate the room for anything of worth or, at least, catches his eye.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

He then places his ear to the doors and tries to listen for any movement or guards from the other side.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Sneak 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Weylyn quietly pads accross the floor and listens at the door for movement and some indication about the space beyond.

If everything is clear...

He slowly opens the door and peers out.

Tobis He smiles at your seeming attack of conscious "The younger son of the lord requires a body guard, he is a bit of a fop turns out. Lives in a manor by himself. You can start today if you would like I will send you out with a sealed letter from the father explaining why you are there."

You find a fancy ash tray worth a fair amount and a small statue of a nude woman that you suspect that you could fence. you are not sure on the value of any of the books.

At first you hear nothing on the other side of the door, but just as you are moving to open it you hear the faint sound of footsteps getting louder, they get closer and closer and then finally pass your door, moving away until you cannot hear them again. You sigh with relief and guess it was just a guard making a round due to all the moving equipment you heard as he passed.

Weylyn Weylyn opens the door and looks out into a grand entrance hall, currently vacant but very large and open. You see a couple of statues you can quickly dart behind to make it elsewhere, you could attempt to use the main stairs to get to the second floor, or sneak around looking for servants quarters for the other stairs all houses of this size have.

A little more on my character. He has never killed outside of contract except for self defense and those have been rare. He can normally scare off most trouble. And since those in the guild can choose targets he always chose scum. People that he believes deserve to die.

Tobias takes the letter without a word and taps it to his forehead in a type of salute and walks away. He heads for the manor scoping out weaknesses as he goes to the door.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
I think it is +6. Please correct if wrong.

Victor carefully takes the ash tray and the statue and stashes them into his pack. Confident that the guard is gone, he opens the door and sneaks out, carefully closing the door behind him. He sneaks the way to the vault, keeping an eye out for guards, traps, and any other valuables. Ever once in a while, he might go into a room and scope it out for loot.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Weylyn darts behind a nearby statue and crouches down to stay out of sight.

STEALTH 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

From this vantage, Weylyn looks around for obvious signs of the servants stairs.

PERCEPTION 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

KN: LOCAL - Is it more likely that servants are moving about the house of the owners at this hour? 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Male Mostly Human Expert Lv1

Tobias You see that it would be quite easy to sneak into or out of the manor due to the twisting garden paths and bushes. There are numerous fountains to disguise sound as well. You also note that while the front door lock looks well made it is actually a cheap knock off and you think that if the builder of the mansion cut corners there to keep his pockets lined he probably cut corners elsewhere as well.

Upon reaching the door it opens and a servant stands behind it. "What can I help you with... good sir." He sniffs.

Victor You stealthily make your way down the hall poking your head into door ways hoping to find something else to lift. Most of the rooms don't have anything expensive looking in them. At least nothing small enough that you could carry it out easily. You make your way toward the entry hall, following the map to the stairs toward the 3rd floor of the building.

Weylyn While you are looking about for the servant's stairs you notice a figure trying to move stealth-fully on the second floor. You know that most servants should be in their dorms at this hour and surely not sneaking.

The sneaking figure that Weylyn notices is Victor if you want to confront each other now feel free. Otherwise I will continue to advance the story as you all post what you are doing.

Tobias blows smoke in the man's face then bullies his way through shoving the letter into his chest. "Here to protect the apple," he says sarcastically. He circles the foyer while the manservant reads the letter, continuing his search of weaknesses. From what he has seen so far this job was going to be difficult. At least any upgrades in defense were going to be out of daddies pocket.
