Heh, or julian tackled her!
But the battle for the dwarf hold was epic. Holding the walls, then the gates and finally---we slew a freaking dragon!
The side stories of romance and intrigue, the interplay between Ana and Dagmar, and your ninja burn comments Jediah, all great.
And ARC I know you have been through some stuff these last few years, and you had to abandon quite a few games, but you always kept ours going. I appreciate that.
Rutilux |
As far as your leadership goes Rutilux...
You can recruit a fifth level cohort
You can recruit any non-spell casting class or a cleric of an appropriate god to the region
Gotcha. Darn moving around alot really hurts. Do I have to make/pick one right away or can I hold off till a later time?
Skallangbiorn |
I'll second to the compliments. It's a rare occasion on the boards to find such a tight group. The owes to the level of commitment and the awesome creativity of Mr Arc. I'm just glad to have been a part of it even if for just a short while.
Rutilux |
Been a long road but it has been real fun playing with everyone. Hopefully we won't all die, lol.
See, now you guys have me worried. You know something I don't? ;)
Damn good game, yes. Good players, great Game Master, etc.
Zethyris |
It's been a blast.
Zethyris is going to spend 300 gp of his own to pick up a potion of heroism. How much collective cash do we have remaining for consumables? We should probably get that straightened out before the conflict starts.
EDIT: Heroism is a 2nd level bard spell, but a 3rd level wizard. Can I actually get it for 300 gp as a 2nd level potion? I forget whether consumables are assumed to be crafted at the cheapest price, or the wizard/cleric price.
Anastasiya |
Done with leveling. Thanks for waiting for me.
I would like to buy the following scrolls:
- Black Tentacles (700 gp)
- Fly (375 gp)
- Gaseous Form (375 gp)
- Spider Climb (150 gp)
For a total of 1600 gp. I have 1300 left in gemstones. So I would need 300 from the common pool. Do we have that much left?

Arena game I am in that is run by Voice of the Voiceless needs a few players. If interested, follow the link.

I'm good purchase wise.
As far as direction, I'm good with climbing or the dimension door option if we can get in unnoticed. Only thing with the latter is ensuring we have a staging area whole we wait for the others.
Anastasiya |
And get I get a list of final purchases for personal and any spent from group...
My list from above still stands:
- Black Tentacles (700 gp)
- Fly (375 gp)
- Gaseous Form (375 gp)
- Spider Climb (150 gp)
For a total of 1600 gp. I have 1300 left in gemstones. So I would need 300 from the common pool.
[insert flashy and unexpected entrance here]?
One of us pretends to be the high priest who just arrived to perform the ritual. Couldn't possibly go wrong.
Zethyris |
Purchases:
Thorvald: 800 gp
Ana: 300 gp
Jediah: 900 gp ? (Still want those CMW?)
Total: 2000 gp. 3000 gp remaining.
Potions of Heroism all around? They last 30 minutes each, and I don't think we have any other morale bonuses.
They cost 400 gp each, so we can pick up 7 for 2800. Leaves us with 200 gp remaining. Zethyris has 300 gp to pitch in for his own, leaving a total of 500 gp remaining.
EDIT: Communal Spider Climb costs 375 to get as a scroll. 5 minutes of spider climb each should be plenty.
The last 175... Ana can get a second level scroll, or we can pick up three potions. (CLW/Prot from Evil?)
Thoughts?
Anastasiya |
Sounds good, Zethyris. Can't think of any particular 2nd level scroll I would need right now, so feel free to go with the potions.
Concerning what is going on in gameplay right now: wouldn't it be ironic if it actually is Julian who is getting all of us killed in the end - after he saved everybody's life numerous times without anyone ever really noticing?
Zethyris |
For our three level 1 potions, what do we think? Protection from Evil? Cure Light Wounds? Something else?
Also, who's taking them?
Skallangbiorn |
I'll toss a couple...
》Potion of Gravity Bow? Is that a thing? (Good for Julian and/or Zethyris)
》Expeditious Retreat?
I'm glad to hold whatever. My thought is that Skall will hit the support roll first, then launch into battle after.
Zethyris |
Neither of those can be made into a potion, as they are personal range spells. Same with shield.
Just take them as healing potions, in case Skall goes down or is too far away?
Zethyris |
Addressing Thorvald's point - have we skipped ahead to closer to the ritual? I didn't think we were going to attack until we had to.
Looks like we went from discussing possible tactics straight to implementing them.
Skallangbiorn |
That was kind of my idea of the situation too. We were on the eve of the ritual trying to get into position before the full enemy force arrived. I also thought the swim, climb etc were already agreed upon. I wouldn't have kicked off the summoning if it hadn't.
So what are we doing?
Arc, any chance of a map?
Zethyris |
Do we have a boat? I was under the impression that either we avoid swimming and instead try to dispel the alarm, or we take off armor and get in the (cold) water.
I've got spiffy boots, and should be decent for swim checks. Doesn't matter too much to me.
Anastasiya |
If we still have time, I could dimension door half the group to the other shore (where they would have to hide for the night), then get a full night's rest and dimension door the rest.
Skallangbiorn |
Listman to the rescue!
.
.
.
Here's what I have for the plan presented so far...
- We Dimension Door half now to the cliff top
- We hide out till morning, the Dimension Door the rest
- We set up for the attack to march up with the ritual (which is "tomorrow")
- The Outsider / Julian launch their distractions
- We attack from the high ground, seeking out leadership
- We all die in a blaze of glory...or is that a maze of gory...
Edits?
DM - ARC |
It sounded to me like most of you wanted to charge in right then and there so I responded to the summoning. We can skip ahead to the day, attack earlier or put the summoning on "hold" until you're ready while you finish planning.
The rock formation sticks out from the coastline like a jetty. The camp is based around the incline that rises naturally into the rocks. The two sides of the formation are too close to the camp to climb safely while the side hanging over the water is opposite the camp and thus the rocks block their view.
Thorvald the Black Shield |
What did they see? How many were down there? What advantage is there to climbing over dimension door? The clerics and Ana can cast it and drop us in to the thick of it. Unless what ARC is saying climbing puts us close to the camp on the one side that blocks the view of the camp and the horses are an absolute no go for our party.
I am ready to go with whatever, but attacking with the planner ally ends and surprise advantage and it's not liked he is going to sneak to the edge of the alarm. We need to time it right. Could the planner ally convince the berserkers to fight their masters?
Does Theo have any insight?
At this point maybe ARC can just set up the scene and we can jump ahead if nothing was planned to happen in the days prior to ritual day. Do we need to get on the jetty?
Zethyris |
The ritual is going to take place on the jetty. If we can sneak up there where they can't see us, we avoid having to fight our way through the entire camp. We can try to crash the ceremony before all the Irriseni forces show up, then get out off the cliffside. As long as we're quick about it, our spider climb should still be in effect, and we won't need to jump :P
With Julian and the planar ally both causing different distractions, it should pull more troops in the wrong direction.
Zethyris |
We've got a scroll of Communal Spider climb, which lasts 50 minutes, divided among the participants.
With Julian elsewhere and Ana flying, that leaves 5 of us, so 10 minutes of spider climb each.
The cliff is 80 feet high, so it should only take three rounds of climbing if you're wearing armour.
Are we okay with the swimming then? I can hold your armour in my bag of holding, and we can put it on at the base of the cliff.
