Lenna Swiftfoot |
"Too bad humans are as blind as a bat in the darkness then."
Lenna congratulates Malya and Essa:
"Hey, good job you two! I'm afraid I didn't do much. Still, it was awesome to watch you do the job! You nailed it, girls!"
Lenna Swiftfoot |
"Fortunately, ogres are not the kind of things you'd miss! Alrighty, I've never done this before, but I'll try! At least it'll give everyone a good laugh," Lenna shrugs. "Let's see who's going to do actual fishing: the catcher or its prey? Make your bets!"
Essa Dwae |
Essa gives this fishing a try, and stays clear of sailing the boat, afraid she will crash them.
survival: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
She daydreams and doesn't much pay attention to the fishing, and anything she catches, she throws back in the water.
Lenna Swiftfoot |
Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Surprisingly, Lenna is better at fishing than she probably thought. That doesn't prevent her from unintentionally throwing a net on Walren, playfully 'catching' the dwarf:
"Sorry, cap'tain! Bad aim!"
She eventually sees that Essa isn't really in the mood for fishing:
"What's up, my girl? Are you alright?"
Selene Vosmus |
Selene is more than happy to steer the ship, though she is obviously winging it and knows nothing of sailoring.
Boating: 1d20 ⇒ 15
"This isn't so hard, what's that side of the ship called over there again?" Selene points in the direction she is being guided.
Essa Dwae |
"Hi Lenna, nothing's wrong, just relaxing and enjoying myself. Wondering what the future holds. We had some harrowing experiences lately in a crypt, and sometimes it comes to haunt me at odd moments."
"I try to take my mind off of it."
Malya Vardigan |
Mayla decided to try fishing first since she had never done it before. Looking at the nets and rods she decided to try with a net.
Fishing: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Surprised by her own success she would deposit the fish where needed and moves up to Selene watching her for a bit and the way the boat moved.
"May I try?" She asked and if given a chance would take her own turn at the helm.
Sailing: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
DM Lil" Eschie |
Essa throws back any fish she catches, which is quite a strange fishing technique. Lenna manages to catch three fishes over the course of the next two hours, but it seems to you that Malya has dedicated herself to single-handedly catch every fish in the river.
There are more fishes on the boat's deck that you have probably ever saw.
Selene, then Malya, try to steer the boat, and Tane waits impatiently for his time at the wheel.
You see a man, on the river bank, lying lazily on his back, with a fishing rod planted in the ground near him.
Essa Dwae |
"Ok, that sounds good. HEY! YOU! OVER THERE! WAKE UP!"
Essa shout suddenly now that the plan was decided on, without really any actual planning or what to say, or the boat not being anywhere near....
DM Lil" Eschie |
The man turns his big head toward you.
No, let me rephrase that: the man's big head turns toward you...and separating from the corpse, it unfolds its wings, and takes air.

"What the ever loving bleepity bleep is that!" She shifted her feet to become more steady on the deck as she called on her magic. Something as unnatural as this couldn't be right so she started calling on her magic as she pulled out a wand.

Lenna's only reaction to the flying head is to raise her eyebrows. It is hard to say if she is even impressed.
Maybe she just manages to look very composed.
"Calm down..." she says in a phlegmatic tone, adressing the panicked druidess. "It's just a head."

Both captain and crew are disgusted by the flying head, but not particulary afraid. When the creature shrieks, the dwarf's moves seems to be slower for a few seconds, then he shakes off the effect, and takes a small handaxe, ready to defend his boat.
His crew is less resilient and stops moving altogether.

The sword does an ugly, wet sound *Sprrrrooootch* as it cuts the creature deeply and impales it on the deck, where it dissipate slowly in a stinking ooze.
At first, Tane is shocked, and nearly throw up.
Then, of course, he slowly realise that he saved the day, and takes an heroic pose for the ladies.
Have you SEEN that? You better believe I'm a hero, with a mighty destiny. I just ran over, slashed at it-did you SAW my footwork, Essa? It was just like that..
He tries to do it again, slashing at the air with an imaginary sword.
You know you haven't heard the last of it, by a loooong way.
I just hope that Malya will soon come up to her senses. I want to know what I killed. You know, to tell the ladies at the next tavern.
I'll buy you a round of drink kid! You saved the life of my second, and ol" Captain won't forget that.
The dwarf shakes hands with Tane.
Lenna Swiftfoot |
It takes Lenna a long minute to come back to her senses. The halfling groans, having the feeling that Tane excited and victorious screams were piercing through her skull. She quickly learns what happened.
"Congrats, Tane," she sighs. "Good reflexes. You saved the day."
Before getting back to work, she whispers some words to the ladies:
"There'll be no way of stopping him after that."
Malya Vardigan |
Mayla's body felt stiff and strange for a bit longer as she came out of the paralysis and she shook it off. Hearing Tane go on and on she chuckled.
Listening to Lenna she nodded. "He deserves a hero moment." She whispered back.
DM Lil" Eschie |
It takes you an hour to bury the headless man, using some tools from the Black Mist, and to give him a small ceremony.
The only thing you find on the corpse is a small brass ring with stylized antlers engraved
Malya Vardigan |
Mayla felt herself choke up a little. "He...he was married. That ring, it is customary in these parts to exchange rings blessed by an Erastillian. If....we are to find his wife we could use the wedding ring. They come paired."
DM Lil" Eschie |
The dwarf scratch his beard
That's awful. Poor bugger. I don't know if you have a chance to find his other half-err, I mean his woman, not his head, of course. But it's nice of you to want to try. When you're ready come back to the Black Mist.We are nearing the town, and I fear we won't be able to reach it before the night comes.
Selene Vosmus |
Selene slaps her hands to free any lingering dirt from the grave and the body and heads back to the Black Mist. "Surely a sign of things to come," she utters to herself looking back at the burial sight from the boat.
DM Lil" Eschie |
The boat is slightly rocking on the waters of Lake Encarthan, as the night slowly comes.
Grab some sleep, young ones. The trip will soon be done.If one of you wants to keep company to Ewen while I'm at the helm, or look at the stars, please do. I hope you enjoyed the Black Mist, cause she's a fine and pleasant lady.
He scratches his beard, obviously a little nervous
Let's hope we won't get bothered by wandering monsters before reaching port. It hasn't been especially uneventful so far, and I fear our bad luck might continue.
Lenna Swiftfoot |
"Hey," Lenna replied jokingly. "I'm doing my best here... Must be dwarven bad influence ruining our luck!"
She patted the captain on his shoulder:
"I'll stay on the deck, if you want. Maybe another pair of eyes would be welcome."
