I love dark tapestry but this character is going to be problematic to play - it'd be like playing a pitborn tiefling abyssal sorceror in a worldwound game.

I'm really sorry, but you would really have to convince me this character could blend in well enough not to get the group killed... and I'm just not sure you can.

I'm not sure I follow the analogy. Is it related to the fluff on how the power/curse was obtained (since it could also be granted by Lamashtu, Norgorber, or Zon-Kuthon)? I'm not aware of any external manifestation of the mystery that would draw attention to the oracle or the group that could get them killed. Are you referring to attention from the Outer Gods, etc. rather than other people? Or is it more the enemies we'd come up against would be immune to the powers in the Mystery?

In any case, I can look into the other mysteries. I'll just have to modify the concept a bit. Anything else I should avoid (like Bones maybe)?

*Bows* Thank you indeed for giving the character a look in.

Am suffering a bout of the lurgo atm, plus I am moving into my work shifts (Yay) So getting a character page up might take a few more days for my self.

Looking forwards to reading an 'Introductory scene' from yourself DM Harakani

Kalizkan applying with Nicator (or "Nic"), Witch with an unknown patron of the Shadow variety. Character sheet is still in progress, but will be updated on this alias.

Background and Descriptions:
Like much of the gang, Nicator remembers little of his life before the City. What is certain is his name, and the fact that, at some point before coming to the city, he struck a deal. Nic doesn’t remember what he made the deal with, why he made it, or what the conditions are, but he knows that something happened and, someday, he will have to pay for it.

Shortly after the unremembered deal, Nicator came to the City, where he met Itzala, his familiar. Spending some unsuccessful time as a lone thief, Nicator joined the gang after Grandmother rescued him from another one—the Kytons. Once with the gang, Nicator developed his knack for stealth and learned to strengthen his newly acquired magical abilities. He often serves a support role for the group, flinging curses at their enemies and using his sling to the best of his ability. Nicator has also found a unique niche during robberies, as his ability to put potential marks to sleep has proven useful time and time again. He will occasionally fix up any scrapes and bruises that the others get, but leaves more serious injuries for Grandmother to take care of. Since Grandmother became ill, he has been searching through his meager collection of books and using his magic to try and identify the disease and find a cure—but to no avail.

Nicator has an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and has developed his magical talents relatively quickly, given his limited education and resources. Grandmother has mentored him a little in this pursuit—but her own patron appears to be different, limiting what she can do to help him. Nic would love to learn more about everything—but the struggle to survive always takes precedence. Itzala is generally helpful, but, being a cat, generally has more pressing concerns, such as napping. Nic is always on the lookout for magic items to tinker with, in the hopes that he can expand his knowledge that way—a pursuit that has lost him his eyebrows once, so far.

Nicator is of Chelaxian descent, and clearly Azlanti as well. He has bright purple eyes and olive skin that contrasts against his black hair. Nicator is an average-sized fourteen year old, and is more comfortably out of the spotlight than in the center of attention.

Itzala’s fur is mostly an uncommonly dark shade of red. Some black fur forms an odd, but structured-looking pattern on her forehead. She is never far from Nicator, and is always willing to let his friends and fellow gang member pet her or gain the honor of bestowing food upon her.

DM Questions:
A name and quick description of a younger kid in the gang you look out for
Gamil is ten years old, and is showing signs of a sorcerous bloodline of some sort. He is of Kelshite descent and has a talent for picking pockets. Gamil has black hair and dark eyes, and is often paired with Nic for grab and run jobs. Typically, Nic will try to put the mark to sleep, after which Gamil quickly robs them and moves away. Gamil is a happy lad, often smiling and laughing while in the base or out on a job.

A time when Grandmother (old Female Human Witch 4) saved you
When Nicator was thirteen, one of his early pickpocketing attempts went awry, and he was chased into the territory of the Kytons—a nearby gang of devil worshipers known for their brutality. Three of them cornered him on the border of their territory Having not yet developed his witching abilities beyond the ability to create a spark, he had no defense against the Kytons weapons. Grandmother, however, was nearby. Her magic proved more than enough for the attackers—quickly putting them to sleep. Nic’s three attackers and allowing Nic to run for safety.

A name and description of an enemy in a gang whose territory borders yours.

Caternos is a mid-ranking member of the Kytons. He is a tall, surprisingly slim boy of Chelaxian descent, with pale skin and red hair, including some slight stubble that he tries to pass off as a beard. Caternos is an Inquisitor, worshipping Dispater. Caternos wears the heaviest chain armor he can get his hands on (as do most of the Kytons), and specializes in cracking bones with his flail.

Caternos was the leader of the group who cornered Nicator two years ago, and bore the embarrassment of apparently being defeated by a single, cornered spellcaster. Since then, Caternos has often tried to single out Nic, but Nic's practice hiding and established support role have allowed him to avoid being cornered by Caternos again.

An ally or friend you have made in the area outside the gang who will help you out.
Marcus Laertes Jeggare, a boy of 17 and a scion of one of the cadet branches of House Jeggare. Marcus is tall, with pale skin and black hair. He was training to be a bard when the Flight happened. Lost in the shuffle after the move to the City, Marcus has survived thus far by playing an old, battered violin he managed to somehow acquire in the chaos after first arriving. Nic stopped to hear him play one day, and shared the food he had in appreciation. This became a daily routine, and the two quickly became friends. Marcus prefers to make his living honestly, but he has occasionally helped provide a distraction to help Nic and Gamil escape from angry robbery victims.

Three short term goals;
Increase the knowledge passed to him through Itzala (increase spell list)
Acquire more books
Get a wrist sheathe and a dagger to use as an athame

Two mid term goals (eg “Join a wizard’s guild”);
Destroy the Kytons
Gain access to a library

Long term goal;
Find out about his powers; specifically, discover the source and cost of them. Discover ways to mitigate that cost, if necessary.

Inter-group ties
TBD, once the group is selected

@Dark Netwerk
Alright, I've thought about this a lot now. Simply being an Oracle is probably not enough to get you in trouble. A lot of the Dark Tapestry powers are pretty... distinctive... though. And while the Black Blood isn't old one inspired, it looks a lot like the sort of thing that they do.
I guess if you are careful, you could get away with it, but you'd need to accept that and work within it.

Couple of general questions... this will be my first time running PbP. Is there anything people would like to know from or about me?

Also, I can see that it might be useful to have a wiki/site for some of the information we're doing. Is there a common answer besides google documents?

@ Harakani - will this be more of a Roleplay or Rollplay game? even mix of both? More adult or pg rated?

Do you have that much info that you'd need a site for it? Wow! Couldnt you could just post it under the Campaign Info tab?

Thanks Harakini.

I'll stick to the less obnoxious revelations (e.g. Pierce the Veil; Touch of the Void; Gift of Madness; maybe Cloak of Darkness?) or those that are common in other mysteries (e.g. Dweller in Darkness & Interstellar Void in Heavens, Brain Drain in Lore), and leave out the worst offenders (e.g. Read the Tapestry is just a bad idea no matter the setting; Wings of Darkness might be a little shocking; and Many forms, although a decent revelation and nothing stating anything particularly weird about it, I see flavour text that should have been included to make it seem more otherworldly).

Just as a note, even though I'm going to try this route, the character will have a Good alignment. Also, I decided not to go with the Dual-Cursed archetype since I like some of the DT spells and skills that would be lost

Here is the character (still have some of the crunch to complete but it should give you an idea):

Fluff:

Background
Anton got his curse during the fall of Golarion with the arrival of the Others, Old Ones and Outer Gods. His mother, a cleric of a now dead god, used the last of her power to send her children across the Tapestry into the City, before collapsing and being consumed by the dark forces. During the transition between Golarion and the City, Anton and Nuala, his sister, passed through a concentration of madness. Although, being insignificant, their passage went unnoticed, they still touched this alien power. This touch cursed them, but also gave them access to new abilities.

DM Questions
* A name and quick description of a younger kid in the gang you look out for

Nuala, Anton's younger sister, also affected by the events that brought about the destruction of Golarion, except she has the wasting curse (unknown whether Oracle abilities will appear and if so, which mystery she'll be associated with).

* A time when Grandmother (old Female Human Witch 4) saved you

Nuala gets picked on for her looks, and not just from outsiders. New gang members or those with little to no tact have been known to cause her, often unintentional, grief. One such instance Nuala was feeling particularly sensitive and she ran off into the streets with Anton racing after her to keep her out of trouble.

Just as he caught up with her, however, trouble found them. Kopper (see below) and a group of his thug friends had found them and began to assault them. Anton, shielding Nuala with his body, took the brunt of the attack.

Grandmother appeared then and cast a spell to cause most of Kopper's gang to flee. She then proceeded to Hex Kopper with a scar, stating that he had best stay away from her flock, lest she destroy him through the scar. Kopper fled.

* A name and description of an enemy in a gang whose territory borders yours.

Kopper, an older boy, who seems to take pleasure in picking on and torturing Nuala and Anton. He has been scarred recently by Grandmother who uses it to keep him in line and out of their territory.

* An ally or friend you have made in the area outside the gang who will help you out.

In attempting to research his and Nuala's condition, Anton befriended a Sage (perhaps a priest of a recently dead god, or one still alive), who had considerable research into the Dark Tapestry, the Others, Old Ones and Outer Gods. The man occasionally loses focus, drooling and babbling incoherently (likely a side effect from his research), but when lucid, his knowledge is profound (at least profound in terms of what Anton would know). His faith has kept him from toppling over the edge of sanity.

@Cairn. Sure - I tend to think in Wikis is all.

As I said in post#1 I want to work with the players to build this world. If the players would like more (or less) of something, I'm happy to try to oblige. I've spent decades learning how to judge a tabletop or larp session, but I am new to PbP - so please speak up if you want something changed.

I think what makes this an rpg rather than a strategy game is the roleplaying, so I try to emphasise that.

I think Pathfinder is pretty balanced, and as a GM I try to follow the rules as much as I can so that people can have an idea of what their character can do. That does tend to rollplay.

I find they often mix. I tend to like players to roll play well and make a diplomacy roll if they're trying to get something, for instance.

I also know that conflict is going to come down to combat a lot of the time, and done right combat can add some nice tension to the game.

I have a dislike of games that "railroad" or are a "tunnel of fun". I'm going to try not to do that in this game. If you feel like your character isn't a protagonist, tell me.

I want to avoid PvP if possible - note I'm okay with character versus character as long as the players are both fine and cooperating towards a better story.

Maturity wise I'm going to try to rein back a little from my normal games and run something that won't run afoul of the board's rules, or (just in case) people's work filters. Aiming for MA15+, I guess...

Sounds great Harakani! I think the game is at its best when roleplay and rollplay are melded together. Using skill/ability checks to back up the RP is how it was intended. Again, sounds great; crossing my fingers and waiting for the Rollcall.

Aku has now officially become a human, though there is Orcish blood mixed in as well.

I'm working on the extended background which will be in the alias. Basically Aku is the product of Oni slave breeding.

I can't think of any questions...and as a general rule, Google solves all our problems ^^

Well, unless you're paranoid of people spying on you and selling your personal information to marketing companies...then google is not the answer XP

The Obsidian Portal has tools for wikibuilding, I believe, and might be best for tracking things for a game run here.

In general, I'm a fan of Myth-Weavers for PbP, and it looks like they're alright with people using the Wiki to store info for any game (per the global rules), as long as you don't advertise for any games not run on the site.

How's this for backstory:

The world was falling apart, literally and the men and women of god, the clergy could do nothing but pray. It didn't help, in there precise moment of need... the gods were too busy. Tarek's mother reached for the divine and felt emptiness.

But the practicioners of wizardry, put their mind to the problem... a problem so vast it tore at their intellect and ripped at their sanity. Tarek's father was a strong man, supremely intelligent... a true scholar.

He could not predict the mayhem that would ensue when his greatest spell, unleashed at man's darkest hour... would be affected by reality itself tearing... the fabric of space and time, asunder.

The beast came through... and wrapped it's dark tentacles about his only son, Tarek. The toddler screamed. Mother and father could only throw themselves at the creature in some vain heroic effort to save their child.

The black feline beast was elusive, never where one thought it was... tentacles lashing out, grabbing, tripping and finally dragging both towards itself even as it released the child.

Displacer beast, but no ordinary specimen. Larger, more powerful and impervious to all their efforts. It dragged them back, back into the maelstrom, into the vortex that was naught but chaos and swirling miasma.

Tarek cried, literally for days. Two to be precise, until his grandfather came calling. He was safe, now... traumatized, but safe.

Shortly thereafter Tarek fell ill, and no matter of medicine or divination would help... finally grandfather took him to a witch. She knew, almost immediately. He had come in contact with something from the other side. He was fading, literally withering and fading from existence.

But, the witch would not give up and stood vigil, bathing the child, feeding the child. Warming him, playing with him. He's doing it to himself, she told grandfather. He wants his parents and they're not here... so his mind doesn't want him to be here, either. He is disappearing, his body withering and emaciated.

He must go to the monestary or Irori, she instructed. They can teach him to command himself. They can teach his soul to want to live, to take control of his mind and the mind to rule his body. He is young, but it is his only chance. He will choose his own path, once he is ready.

Grandfather would visit at the monestary, once a week. He would bring pastries from his coffee house. Eventually, Tarek was allowed to exit the monestary... eventually, after ten years. But, grandfather never missed a visit. And, Tarek never missed a pastry crumb.

Tarek now works as a barrista at his grandfather's coffee house.

Finishing the last bits on Aku

Background:

Born in the Oni Kingdom of Chu-Ye in the Dragon Empires, Aku is the result of a slave breeding program run by Shogun Tsuneni himself. Born to a Varisian mother and a Tian-Sing father, Aku was selected by the Oni caretakers for his innate magical talent. They renamed him Aku and removed him from his mother's side shortly after he was weaned. They tattooed him with a single red line across the left side of his face, marking him as a successful breed.

From that they on they started training him, testing him even further, pushing him to the point that it became torture. They learned him to understand and speak their languages, writing the words in his skin where they burned until he pronounced them correctly. They also trained him physically, having him spar with weak, nascent Oni using nothing but a simple wooden staff. In effect this was more an endurance test than actually sparring as even a young Oni was more than strong enough to mortally wound him. Once his masters were sufficiently pleased they marked Aku with a second red line right under the first. He was only 6 years old at that time.

Once sufficiently pleased the Oni started training him to tap into his innate abilities. Instead of just tutoring him though, he became the center piece of many rituals, changing his heritage and infusing him with the essence of the Oni. His power swiftly grew, though he was still a child. In time he managed to take down some of the weaker newly formed Oni he was forced to face, using the magic of his own kind against him. Pleased with his success the Shogun wanted him to perform one more feat before accepting him as one of the few non-Oni in his personal entourage: kill his mother.

His mother was presented to him a week after he had heard what he was supposed to do, both so he could prepare and to torture him with the idea for a full week. When he finally saw his mother he did not recognize her, being taken away before his first year, but she recognised him. Not knowing what was supposed to happen she ran to him and hugged him. It was then that he whispered in her ear that he was supposed to kill her now. She pushed him back a bit, looked at him again and a tear started to run from her eye. She nodded but insisted she gave him a parting gift. When he agreed she touched him on the cheek and from there a beautiful tattoo started to spread, starting at his jawline and spreading over his shoulders and back a stylized bird appeared, though it wasn't a bird Aku recognised. Then she bowed her head, ready for her son to kill her.

It was then that disaster struck as some weird thing came crashing through the wall behind the Shogun. When it unfurled it showed dozens of maws and groping tentacles, grabbing onto the Shogun and his people. It was then that his mother got up and touched Aku again on his forehead. Then all went black.

When Aku woke up he was somewhere else entirely and an elderly lady stood next to him. She asked him his name and when he couldn't tell her she told him he was Aku Markus, a refugee from Golarion. He asked her more about himself as he no longer knew but all the woman, who insisted on being called Grandmother, told him was that his mother had left him in her care.

From that day on and for the 6 years that followed Aku worked with and for Grandmother. He helped take care of the little ones that pushed her patience, especially Leander and Redneal, the halfling rascals who he saved on several occasions, like saving their behinds when they trespassed on the territory of some goon named Pavo and his gang. At other times she helped him, like the day two rabid dogs chased him down and she scared them off. Most of the time though, especially when Aku got a bit older, it was he who helped her and the others instead of the other way around.

Recently Aku has been having nightmares, flashes from before coming to The City. He does not know what they are about, just that they are painful and he'd rather not have them. It was these nightmares that also brought him into contact with Belka, a Tiefling witch tainted by Oni blood and plagued by similar nightmares.

I am interested in playing. Still looking for applicants?

I was going to close it, but sure.

I am building a Keleshite man at arms. Either a ranger or paladin. How does this sound?

Grand Moff Vixen wrote:

I'm not sure if they're still looking, but toss your hat in... something loyal and protective (especially to Tarek). Oy! Ninjahhhh DM!!!

For Tarek:

* A name and quick description of a younger kid in the gang you look out for

>>Thom-Thom, a 10 year old Half-Orc boy, with a big heart. A true lost boy in one of the orphanages. He took to coming with Grandfather to visit Tarek over the last year or so.

* A time when Grandmother (old Female Human Witch 4) saved you

>> That first meet, when she diagnosed Tarek's condition and insisted he be taken to the monestary. She would visit Tarek on his birthday, or whatever passes for one in the new calendar.

* A name and description of an enemy in a gang whose territory borders yours.

>> Zamira is a tall, lanky and dark fem fatale. Tarek is not sure why she has taken an "interest" in him. She and her crew have messed with Grandfather's coffee house on occaision. She is the leader of Troika... in their language, three of a kind or triple threat. As far as Tarek is concerned, there's only one threat she should be concerned with.

* An ally or friend you have made in the area outside the gang who will help you out.

>> Grandfather, of course... But, also:

Vartan Boyagian, a low level politico and dabbler in the arts. Vartan and Tarek's parents moved in the same circles. Now, that Tarek's around... they've enjoyed many a late night discussing physics, space, time... and history.

Oh, haven't read anyone else's goals... if they've posted.

But, the most important short term goal is: 1. Save Grandmother!

Grand Moff Vixen wrote:

We're in a gang, Paladin may not work so well... and we're urban.

Tarek wouldn't mind looking out for a country-mouse, though. And, with the destruction of Golarion and all... I suppose some Rangers were displaced.

This city ("The City") is a mash-up of splinters of many cultures that escaped the world destruction. Every district reflects a culture that may have existed thousands of miles from the adjacent district in the original world.

Cool concept.

I would prefer the GM tell me if a paladin is acceptable or not. I feel a paladin would fit in wonderfully.

Grand Moff Vixen wrote:

Sincerest apologies, was trying to help with the timing. Buttoning lip here.

As far as those goals go:

Three short term goals:

* Save grandmother or at least reduce her suffering
* Acquire an Armored Kilt
* Find a decent place to live

Two mid term goals:

* Find out what happened to mother
* Figure out his past

Long term goal:

* Settle down and live to old age.

I realize his goals are rather modest, but the idea is that these are his current goals and that it mutates and shifts as he discovers his past, what happened to his mother (and who she is, hint: he's not only tainted by Oni) and how his abilities, both natural and infused, develop.

Oh, don't what I said in a bad way. I just want to make sure I know the character would be acceptable as my brain suddenly went on a craze for a paladin.

I hereby present: Safia Atiyeh
I have not purchased anything yet for her but will do so if I am accepted.

GM Info:
* A name and quick description of a younger kid in the gang you look out for.
Fenrik (10), a half-elf who grew up as a street urchin. When Safia first met Fenrik he was being chased by 2 members of the Iron Fist gang.
* A time when Grandmother (old Female Human Witch 4) saved you
When Brodker slipped a poison into some food when she went out to purchase for Grandmother. Grandmother saved you by taking you to the priest who healed you.
* A name and description of an enemy in a gang whose territory borders yours.
Brodker. A mean bully who hates those who are weaker than he is. Safia stopped him from beating up Fenrik and he has been obsessed with her ever since. He is part of the Iron Fist gang.
* An ally or friend you have made in the area outside the gang who will help you out.
Priest Omaku of Iomedae.

* Three short term goals
Find or learn how to cure Grandmother
Build up the gang and have enough food to eat every day
Show others what it means to have compassion

* Two mid term goals
Unify the districts
Show up Brodker and make him leave you (and the gang) alone

* Long term goal
Make the gang into something more than just a band

* Inter-group ties

That's definitely my number one.

@Grand Moff Vixen
I feel a paladin's code could be... tricky... to play. Especially at the start.
Someone who wants to be a paladin (so not as tightly tied to the code) might be alright, if you can be a bit more flexible.

I don't want to just relax the code; the code is the reason Paladins are as powerful as they are.

I will change the class to a fighter. I still like the background I set up. I can still work with it all too. Would this be ok?

Starknife and Buckler seems too.long a name for Grandfather's coffee house, but it's a throw back from when the business use to be a tavern.

How to shorten the name... Hmm.

Also, how to best use a Profession (barista) Roll?

You know, that's a good point, and something I should have thought of.

New bonus:
Everyone gets a free skill rank that can only be spent on profession; make it what it is that your character does in order to get money - even if what you do is thuggery or burgling.

Profession isn't useful very often, but it does make sense for people to have it. On the other hand I don't want to screw sorcerers by mandating it.

@Grand Moff Vixen; I am okay with you later slowly retraining fighter levels to paladin if you go paladin BUT I wouldn't rely on that being possible, and certainly not for a long time.

I appreciate the extra skill point (in Profession), but I was teasing myself sorta.

Maybe Profession (barista) could be like a Diplomacy (in situations where you can make someone coffee/tea).

People do appreciate a good cup of coffee, and it tends to put them in a better mood (it's like common ground - no pun intended). Now, you could botch it... and wow, are they pissed!!!

Coffee, esspresso, tea, cappuccino, cafe au late, chai, klava, etc...

Aku will get Profession (Tattooist) then, fits the Tattooed Sorcerer Archetype. He just needs to get a (primitive) tattoo kit then.

Well, Anton's into researching his condition, so it makes sense he'd be around books, and if one is going to be around books a lot, one may as well be paid for it.

Profession (librarian).

EDIT: Something has occurred to me, with my above comment on research, and the fluff I had knowing a nearly mad sage/priest, added to the references to Old Ones, Outer Gods, and Cthulhu Mythos in the initial recruitment post... A question really...

Will you be using some form of Sanity rules in this game?

Profession (Scribe) seems to fit. The only other thing I could think of to be thematically appropriate would be Craft (Alchemy).

*Sucks teeth* Now that's a toughie...

I don't know what profession suits Treize. Bandit is too...undignified for him. Burglar seems too high stakes for where we are. Assassin would work, but not at the beginning (its something he'll come in to [At least I hope to RP him in that direction]) -- its too 'professional'.

Pickpocket? That seems cliche...you know, the whole Artful Dodger thing. That and every time I look at his skills I'd start singing that bloody 'pick a pocket or two' song.

I suppose something generic like mercenary would do, except I am having a hard time reconciling someone so young doing that kind of thing. Mind you, it does lead to some interesting images of Treize having to prove himself to his employers.

Bounty hunter serves as an interesting one as it leads to Treize's assassin profession nicely. Lots of nice juicy ways to move his conception of morality from 'catching the guilty' to 'murder for hire'. But again, I'm concerned that's a little too professional for a youth...maybe it was a one time thing that he's only starting to pursue now?

I dunno, I'll think of something but that's where my thinking is at currently.

Hey all,
I am now closing recruitment to new players.

I've been blown away by everyone's work on this - these are great characters, and it's going to kill me working out who is in the gang. Give me a little while, please...

Thats sweet news! Rollcall coming!

Did you want the Goals before selection or after? I had the impression it was after and dont want to be overlooked for not having them done.

also Cairn will take Profession - grave digger. There's lots of bodies that need disposed of the sullen lad has the perfect temperament for the task.

I guess in picking a profession for Einar it would be Thuggery. I don't see him performing too many muggings on his own at this point, but he is definitely there to provide muscle for the gang.

Goals can wait for now (feel free to post them if you want to though). Stats can wait too - though I know a lot of people have worked them through already.

Aw came across this to late. Good luck all, sounds interesting ;)

I got so caught up in making the character I forgot this part.

* A name and quick description of a younger kid in the gang you look out for

Sarah is a quiet human girl with golden hair. She is shy around people and even Shaezon. However, her curiosity about Shae's unique hair color (Metallic silver white) facinated her enough that she's willing to get near enough him to look at it. Occationally she's even brave enough to touch it gently, which Shaezon allows her to do. She only comes out of hiding at the calmest of times and if anything sudden happends she's been known go hide so fast it's as if she disapeared. Over time Sarah's become special to Shae and he goes out of his way to make sure she's fed and taken care of. Though they've never spoke Shae suspects she has some sort of talent, but he's been unable to figure out what exactly.

* A time when Grandmother (old Female Human Witch 4) saved you

Shortly after the cataclysm Shae was shell shocked and wandering in a wooded area (or alley depending on how the setting is). He was still numb from the pain of crying over his dead parents and was steps away from wandering unknowingly into danger (this can vary, but either a wild animal or some sort of natural occurance such as a cliff). At the last moment he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder. He turned and saw the face of an old stranger. Her face was so warm and kind that the dam of emotions that had been building inside finally broke. He fell into her and wept for an eternity. Without saying a word she just held him for a long time. Then she took him back to her home and has cared for him ever since.

* A name and description of an enemy in a gang whose territory borders yours.

Terrance "the terrible" or so he calls himself. He's an idiot and a brute, but he does have a small following. Shaezon is not physically intimidating and Terrance has repeatedly mistaken that as weakness. Generally Shaezon's magical protections hold up, but the two have bloodies each others respective lips a time or two. Mostly Shaezon considers Terrance a nussance, but not much more.

* An ally or friend you have made in the area outside the gang who will help you out

Barnabe the librarian. Shaezon is exceptionally bright and hungry for knowledge. It's natural that he would gravitate toward places of knowledge such as "the library." The building is actually Barnabe's home. He's an aging scribe who has over time gathered as many tomes and books as possible. He lets Shaezon borrow as many as he likes in exchange for taking care of them and doing a few odd jobs such as cleanign and transcription.

Profession(burgling) for sure.

I updated the alias. Safia Atiyeh is a fighter now. I love hero lab.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been busy with work and a nasty flue.

Have we a summary of character generation, perchance?

Looking forwards to a rollicking good time! (^_^)

Much cheers to all.

Alright, I have agonized over this decision. I would really love to take everyone, but I just don't think I can. I was originally looking for 4 to 6 players, but if we streamline combat a little I think I can handle 8.

The roster:
Aku Markas
Anton Vitruvian
Einar "Pepper" Elander
Nicator
Shaezan Silverfall
Tarek Madrysian
Treize Seischiro
Weyland Piper

If everyone wants to start finalising their character in their profile, including stats, equipment and goals I will contact people with some requests towards builds, or very minor changes towards background.

I will open the ooc thread shortly.

Thank you everyone who applied.

Yay! I'll be able to update my goals this evening.

Whee! I'll look over my character sheet and have things updated sometime later today.
