I figure that's why we're still just sort of in end-of-the-day limbo here yes. Also, a wizard to replace Aine? I'm not generally one to sweat party balance but that's going to be a weird set of characters for a trip-happy buff-tossing bard.
Bromsen Stedgard |
No worries! I actually have a fun story. I was playing in leinathan's kingmaker campaign. I had this really badass cleric/oracle doctor named Roland Thorn that was totally was not built to be balls to the wall. I gave him 16 con, endurance feat, and diehard feat. However, He had 10 strength and 10 Dex. He took the Merciful healer archetype. The Merciful healer archetype requires that a player take the healing domain for awesome features like not provoking attacks of opportunity when casting healing spells.
He was the perfect defense, man (not on offense). He could soak up alot of damage. The shield other spell worked really well with him. Roland was rather unlucky.
He nearly died from: a druid, drowning (A giant sea turtle being the culprit), getting shot by a chord of shards by a pc bard, two trolls slicing into his backside as he runs away, and jumping over a chasm and fighting head on 7 mites and some kind of beetle.
What truly saved him was his con and diehard. He finally died in chapter 2 in Kingmaker, He was a favorite among our kingmaker group (All the other characters were amazing as well).
The point of this story. Diehard is an awesome feat.

I've posted a description of the rooms in the Gold Goblin that you see in the campaign description. Feel free to read it. I should have a substantive post up over the weekend.
In the meantime, will each of you roll two checks of your chosen skill (for helping the Goblin run) here, in the Discussion thread?
Shay Vinder |
Ooh, and there ARE crazy costumes on hand. Hooray for not having to dip into personal funds there. Anyway, rolls:
Perform: Dance: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Perform: Dance some more: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Relverest Danarin |
Much to read! Ok, rolls first.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Shelyn has blessed this fair day! :D
(nice shimmy, Shay...did you crump and do a headspin on the DC 28 Dance?)
Shay Vinder |
Big ol' feathery fans may have been involved that night?
Sapphire Everbourne |
Let's see what I can do here...
Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
We'll make the first batch cheap, like really cheap.
Lluvia Shade |
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Lluvia manages disputes, entertains and greets the guests.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 Lluvia looks out for cheaters.
Let me know as soon as it's the other day, I have certain plans.
PS: The Gold Goblins is considerably larger than I thought. I had a rough, refurbished warehouse in mind. Which room was the wizard hiding in during the attack? And where is the vault which Vancesterkin went to investigate during the attack? What is 30? Some network of catwalks above the main hall?
Lluvia would probably like either 22 or 29 (if those are quarters) as resting place, because the got access to both the outer wall and the the rooftop of the lower parts of the buildings and make use of that during her first night. She's not picky with whom to share it.
Relverest Danarin |
Where's Sapphy? Not to be all rules lawyery, but I don't think a witch can learn spells, then sell the spellbook. Spells on paper have to be fed to the familiar in order for witch to learn them. GM's discretion if that includes spellbooks...RAW it's says scrolls, but that's getting pretty picky there.
leinathan |
I like to say that pages ripped out of a spellbook can basically work the same as scrolls for the purpose of a witch learning the spells. The page is destroyed, and so the spellbook's value lessened, but the witch can learn it.
Sapphy's been busy.
Aaaand in that vein, I'd like another pair of rolls from y'all, and I'll move us forward to something actually interesting, in addition to paying you.
Shay Vinder |
Dancing continues!: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Two shows nightly!: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
And does getting paid include "working out everyone's cash split from thug loot" or are we waiting for someone else to bite the bullet and crunch those numbers?
Relverest Danarin |
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Diplomacy twofer: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Rel is not completely on his game while talking up the Goblin on the streets of Riddleport, but for the patrons already in attendance, he's smooth like buttah.
Sapphire Everbourne |
Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
"Bottoms up everyone!"
Sorry everyone, I've gotten busier than I expected so I haven't been on top of posting lately. But I'm still here and will continue to be.
Lluvia Shade |
Hmmm. Well, right now I have a bit of a feeling that Lluvia is betraying her real purpose now. I think she would at least be trying to make contacts with the guests, especially those affiliated with the clergy or Desna and let them know that she is an operative whenever they need one. And try to ask about Milon Cath every now and then.
I am a bit puzzled as what to do right now.
Shay Vinder |
I believe we're playing fast and loose enough with time at the moment to wedge that sort of thing in whenever the mood strikes you.
Any news on that replacement character by the way?
leinathan |
Oh, yes, I've decided to have him join another campaign for which I believe his character fits better.
We'll just be sticking with five for now, I believe.
Also, Lluvia...I feel like a fool asking, but...who's Milon Cath? I actually CTRL+F'd him in the adventure and nothing.
Lluvia Shade |
That's because I misswrote the name.
Lost Below: Milon Chath, a cleric of Desna, left to explore several caverns in the nearby Calphiak Mountains more than a week ago and has yet to return. Several Varisians fear the priest has become lost in the labyrinthine caves said to riddle the endless depths below the mountains
Relverest Danarin |
No real rush on this, GM, but what's your ruling on Sacred Summons? Rel will be a buffer and probably a summoner type. Does the feat grant 1 standard action time to all summons marked with an asterisk, or only those of the exact alignment subtype? If it's the former, it's mighty useful. RAW it's the latter and not useful for a Shelynite.
leinathan |
Oh! Gotcha, an adventure hook guy.
Sacred Summons grants a standard action summons to (for you, at least) those creatures with the Good subtype. That is to say, the subtype that corresponds to your alignment. For example, a LE summoner would gain standard summons on those creatures with Lawful subtypes and those with Evil subtypes.
Relverest Danarin |
Well, they'll still fight to the best of their ability, but I can't tell them to Smite or other stuff.
Would you allow Summon Good Monster? I could take that, then Sacred Summons, and we'd be getting somewhere.
leinathan |
I'll be moving us on to the next week once the current interactions are played out.
Saul's Profession Check +7 (DC 20): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32 A resounding success! The Gold Goblin's profit rating rises from -1 to +1, which increases your weekly pay to 15gp. I'll have a post up pretty soon.
Bromsen Stedgard |
Brom might need some meds.
That is up to you to find out. There are some themes with this character that I am leaving up to the reader's interpretation. He is definitely not a perfect hero by any stretch of the imagination. But, that is what makes him so interesting! He is fun to play.
Sapphire Everbourne |
Sorry for the delay in posts. I didn't mean to slow down the progress of the gameplay.
Sapphire stopped through a couple shops, seeing not much of interest, finally stopping at a scroll shop. She picks up two scrolls: Scroll of Infernal Healing and Obscuring Mist for 50gp. Returning back to her room, Sapphire prepares the brews for Faye once more.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Shay Vinder |
I'll get an update up sometime in the next 12 hours, I had a rather nasty surprise to deal with all day yesterday.
Shay Vinder |
Back to having a melee type AND up to an even gender ratio then?
Lluvia Shade |
Hello,
in order to have an actual combat grid to work with I have made a LibreOffice spreadsheet out of the Gold Goblin map.
Unfortunately Google Docs does not support background images in spread sheets, otherwise I'd have used it.
You can access the file via the following link:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/smdoa5zfujj3gbg/Gold%20Goblin%20Coordinates.ods
You'll need either LibreOffice or OpenOffice for it. I can try exporting it to Excel if you prefer that. Anyway, with this document we have into which we can easily put combatants, obstacles and so forth.
To give you an idea how this could be helpful without installing anything first a screenshot:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/u3v8oei5txa7uar/Map%20Example.png
By the way: Let me know when it's my turn to do anything.
