Who would win if the Riftwarden orphans and Lamm's Lambs got into a fight?
I'm thinking the orphans cause Fenna/Aema.
But then there's Sigrid o_o
And also there's a lot more lambs.
Ila Indigo |
Why can't they just be friends? Or is Nary planning a get rich quick scheme and is just looking for ways to tilt the odds in favor of the house?

The answer to this is always yes.
But mostly because I need to know!

Sigrid's still pretty young though. Give her 3-4 years to get her growth spurt and she'll be a right terror though! :)
Oh god, Nary's gonna start an orphan fighting ring? :P
Ila Indigo |
Passing out, now. Assume Ila opts to hang out, follow along, and appear totally calm some of the time, until something shocks her. :)

Night!
Ila Indigo |
See, when I asked if they came back... I was assuming there was a uh... cave or something, at water level, that would fill up at high tide. Which would be a terrifying ordeal... drowning in the dark is one of my biggest fears. :S
Auraelia Blackthorn |
Auraelia's gonna end up wrestling a crocodile in the water. I am not entirely certain if this is going to end well, especially since her axe is basically useless against something that's underwater.
Ila Indigo |
Kite it towards the beach. Seriously. If it grabs you in the water, you'll probably lose. :(

For sure. The only way she'd 'win' in the water is to get lucky on grappling it and have someone else stab it to death while she locks it down. Crocs are *really* good at playing 'lets wrestle in the water!' :p

Okay, I'm going to ask this out of character because I don't want anyone to get squicked out. Is anyone going to have an OOC problem if Aaron kills Lamm in inches?
Aaron 'Hatchet Man' Crispin |
It's used to refer to medieval methods of capital punishment that are generally equated with torture. You know all that stuff Aaron threated to do to Giggles? That kind of thing.
Auraelia Blackthorn |
I'm assuming he means by removing bits one inch at a time. It'd be pretty terrible, and Auraelia would likely prefer to remove Sigrid from his presence for that.
She's perfectly alright with going all "To the pain" with it when Sigrid's safe though :p
"'To the pain' means that the first thing you lose will be your feet below the ankles. Then your hands at the wrists, next your nose... The next thing you lose will be your left eye, followed by your right. [...] Your ears you keep, and I'll tell you why: so that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish; every babe that weeps at your approach; every woman who cries out, 'Dear God! What is that thing?' will echo in your perfect ears. That is what 'to the pain' means; it means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery, forever." - Westley
Nary-a-Care |
I'm fine with it!
You could say I have nary a care ;)
Edit: though, narys hoping to keep him alive and maybe charm a confession out of him or snag some evidence to go free Isabel though :p
Ila Indigo |
But Ila doesn't know that... and knows that not only is a child in danger, but mother bear will be too, without her... so... *ploomp*.

You can certainly get her attention by throwing something. But she's definitely in "Maul the creature threatening my cub" mode :P
Ila Indigo |
I also wanted Message... but it slid away when my character went a slightly different route. Specifically, I really liked the idea of her being the absolute worst at mage hand... and her version working by flinging said object dangerously. :P
Nary-a-Care |
I'll nab it next level (assuming she doesn't drown and/or get eaten by a crocodile)
The level 1 spell will be hard though. I think Sleep would be the better choice out of what I'm looking at but I also really want Hypnotism for obvious reasons. >_>

Hypnotism can be amazing to minmax for. If I remember the math right, if you jump through all the hoops, at level 7-8? you can hypnotize an HD12 target every time, with a ridiculous DC. But that's kind of a superniche. It was just a hilarious idea I had. :)

I ended up taking the gnome SLAs as cantrips knacks because.... the idea was that to Nary, her understanding of her psychic powaz kind of grew out of her inherent gnomish magic. So it made sense to me that her knacks be her gnome spells :p
Especially since psychic magic is similar to SLAs in that you don't need V/S components.

Super Hypnosis: Trusssssst in Me!
Edit: Watch out for the components on Psychic spells. There's no V/S, but one of the two components that replaces them gives you like a -10 to cast defensively with it.

Haha! Nice.
I mostly want sleep so that she can be less utterly useless against non-humanoids. Also because duh what kind of hypnotist can't make you veeerrrrrryyyy sleeeeeeeepppppyyyyyyy?
But there's also already more lvl 1 spells that I want than I have room for :(
EDIT: And yeah, I'm aware, there's definitely components. But I still love the fluff standpoint that Nary can literally brain-melt you from across the room without a word or gesture ;)
Ila Indigo |
Also, if you're demoralized or targeted by an emotional spell, you can't cast any of your magic... even the magic that flows from that feeling. It'd be really neat to have a character who could -only- cast while scared, but that'd kind of pigeon hole you as an adventurer. :P
Edit: Just checked. Non-harmless emotional spells. So... buffs are fine.

That bastard is going to pay twice. Once for threatening Sigrid, and a second time for using Jeopardy! to kill poor innocent children.

I apologize in advance for what I'm about to do. To Nary, because her plan is screwed. I promise I will leave him alive long enough to give her answers though. He's going to wish I'd killed him outright when I'm done.

Yeah, I'm not worried about Coup de Graced, I'm worried about Coup de Croc'd.
Auraelia Blackthorn |
Just an FYI, if he gets anywhere near the lever, Auraelia is jumping for Sigrid and the chain. Probably doing that anyway. Exactly how big is the pit she's over? Would it be physically possible to jump across grabbing her and land on the other side?
Ila Indigo |
Ila winces as she feels something pushing on her mind. It's certainly not... fear. It's something else entirely. Anger... and not just the indignation she had felt. It wasn't a cold anger that could be contained easily... it was a hot anger that threatened to burble up and beyond the woman's capacity for control. For the first time since the others had seen her, Ila's face showed real emotion beyond surprise, fear, or boredom. Her brow furrowed, and she marched across the pier. She tapped into her kernel of righteous indignation at the man harming her friend, and with a touch sent a calm, cool wave of energy through Auraelia, the same swirling spiral of blue-and-white energy flowing into her, counterclockwise, and mending her wounds.
A fiance, a child, a sister... probably a brother or close friend. Ila was only here for a trinket that belonged to her father... so why did she feel this way?

Ah, I totally contingency'd that Nary wouldn't charm if combat started.
She won't ever charm in active combat, really. It's mostly for... charming reluctant allies or interrogating captured people who are wounded enough that the "threatened" penalty doesn't suck so bad.
Auraelia Blackthorn |
Gah, totally forgot I only have 20' move base. Having agile armor removes the ACP for jumping, but doesn't cancel the -4 for moving slower. Between that, sickened and shaken it's gonna be almost impossible, even with my +4 to jumps.

Question
Do I get an attack of opportunity? He picked up an unattended object (a chair) to hit me with. That provokes an AoO unless there's a feat that prevents it that I'm unaware of (which means he has a lot of gods damned feats). Note that it also happens before he attacks me.
Reach and Objects: Can you pick up or manipulate an object in a square within your reach? Does this provoke an AOO? Does it provoke even if the foe can reach the object, but not your space?
The rules are a little hazy here, but to put it simply, you can affect objects and creatures within your reach. When picking up or manipulating objects, you generally provoke an attack of opportunity, but only against foes that can reach your space. You do not provoke attacks of opportunity from foes that cannot reach you, no matter what action you are taking, even if it includes reaching into a threatened space. Although it might seem realistic to allow an attack in such a case, it would make the game far too complicated.

Improvised weapons are also at a -4 penalty I believe, or no penalty with the feat :O
I had a PC awhile ago that specialized in improvised weapons so I am familiar lol. But then he got disintegrated.
Though there might be some funky archetype out there iunno
Auraelia Blackthorn |
I'm SOOOO happy that Auraelia appropriately smashed that croc. I was likely to be croc-kibble if she didn't.
I suspect that improvised weapons are part of Gaedren's schtick. He's definitely no slouch, even if he is a festering pile of filth, and a waste of oxygen.

I'm guessing he has the feat that would give him 'flat footed' against people who think the way you do, Nary (at least in the 'improvised' portion). ;)
Catch Off-Guard is a -really- good, fun feat. Except that appears to hurt. A lot. I've never been on the receiving end.
The building's on Fire and Ila is always in the wrong place. :(
Aaron 'Hatchet Man' Crispin |
I think I've got most of his build down already and I'm pretty sure I'm right.
