I believe Drancis said he was searching the Klaven bodies in THIS post.

...and your friendly GM replied Here! I was just remarking on the fact that you folks have got a limited amount of healing to spare... and maybe Illonna didn't need to be snoozing!

At Drancis' question, BR-N3R postulates, "Species 361-369 are an interplanetary species... it has previously been suggested that they have a narrow range of ambient temperature in which they are active... maybe these specimens have found somewhere warm and have entered a semi-dormant state?"

Edited for the correct link... in the right campaign would be a good start!!!

Not sure how we ended up back on Golarion there...but I will say Drancis would use one of those potions on the unconscious paladin. CMW potion: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (7, 8) + 3 = 18

Drancis glances at the robot, clearly not assured by the reply. "Well be that as it may, we need to be quiet here."

Happy to retcon Illonna coming to the Maintenance Bay if that's what folks want to do... regardless Andretta and Zoreck will stand guard at the Power Plant.

If folks are heading into the room where the Akata are sleeping, I'll need some Stealth checks.

I think everyone would be happy with that decision. We probably could do with paying more attention to what we pick up eh?

Locke nods at the suggestion to be quiet, and really does attempt to do just that as he enters the room.

Stealthily, the friends approach... their eyes scanning for items that could prove useful in the repairs of the power raising equipment - yet, not truly knowing what they are searching for, it starts as a fruitless search... and, when Locke reaches for a crate high above him, things take a turn for the worse. Combat Over

Able to continue their search with no further interruption, Astraea and her friends discover that this room contains a huge variety of resources for the facility’s upkeep. Some of them include common carpentry tools and hardware such as buckets and mops, surplus alchemical equipment, and even food supplies (or what, at least on first inspection, appears to be food)... and, after around 5 minutes searching, she discovers an enclosed wooden box on one of the highest shelves that, according to BR-N3R, contains the necessary items to repair the power plant.

...just as a warning sound blares around the facility, a violently cacophonous siren accompanied with an alien voice - a voice that BR-N3R, impassive as ever, translates for them, "The containment field is about to fail... biological life will, as previously stated, cease to be viable following this event".

Illonna follows but stands about, unsure what to do when the complicated equipment becomes involved. She occupies herself by standing menacingly in case any foes are about.

With the blaring alarms constantly reminding the friends that they have little time left, they rush – Locke carrying the crate of spare parts – back to the room housing the Power Plant. Zoreck and Andretta still stand watch there and, with a smile and a quiet shake of their head, confirm that they haven’t seen anything untoward whilst Locke and the others were searching for spare parts… and then the friends taste it in the air, a stinging acidic feeling that grows in intensity the further into the room that they get…

…and so, taking the equipment (which does seem to be relatively non-complex) from Locke, Astraea moves towards the damaged section of the conduits – and closer to the failing atmospheric shielding. With BR-N3R scuttling along beside her, she arrives at the affected part of the Power Plant, ”Test Subject #462-8734-e - first you must remove the damaged section of power conduit module… unclip latching mechanisms and withdraw towards yourself…”

…with a vague understanding of what the arachnid machine is saying but with precious few options as to what she can do here anyway, Astraea finds the clips holding the damaged bundle of tubes together and, releasing them, pulls the surprisingly light bit of equipment towards her… all the while, the sirens blare and the voice warns of impending disaster in its alien dialect… ”Now, aligning the arrows, insert replacement module and secure with latching mechanism…”. Following the instructions as the field flickers next to her, the occasional waft of toxic air rushing in as the shielding fails, Astraea effectively performs the reverse of the removal operation…

Then…

…as the fourth latch is pushed into place, lighting from the ceiling of the power plant washes across the room… the voice and the siren cease their endless warnings… and the energy field becomes strong and constant. Within no more than a minute or so, the toxic vapours within the air seem to have been flushed away and a sense of ‘normality’ returns, BR-N3R confirms it, ”Life-Support systems within the Garsilt Research Facility are now stable… based on power utilisation and stored energy, Garsilt Research Facility viability is now in excess of one month”.

Drancis signs in relief as disaster is averted...for the moment. He looks out at the alien landscape and feels an overwhelming sense of homesickness as he stares out into the distance.

I wonder whether I will see my home again?

Astraea slumps to her knees and groans as the stress of the situation overcomes her. "Let's not do that again..." she says. "...I'm... all for rescuing as many people as we can, but... let's just be really careful. Rikkan and I are pretty much completely spent. BR, can you tell us if there's any way to see from up here if there are any other survivors we might be able to rescue...?"

It is obvious to anyone that Astraea is completely wiped out. She waves off any attempts to help and slowly staggers up to her feet.

Still, knowing that she was able to play some part in saving everyones' lives brings an immense feeling of satisfaction to her. Survival alone is nice enough, but knowing that she was able to help everyone else at the same time is almost enough to wash away the exhaustion. Almost.

...as the minutes pass, it becomes more and more apparent that there is no-one... nothing... here at the top level of the Garsilt Research Facility that is likely to interrupt any rest that the friends seek to get...

Now would seem to be a sensible time for you folks to rest... Assuming you get an uninterrupted rest, what are your plans after that?

Locke happily spends time rest with his companions. Offering to wrap any bandages needed and quitely singing a gentle tune to bring on sleep.

After resting Locke considers their options, "Drancis is right. We should take the chance to rescue other survivors if we can. Though I fear we may not find many, if any at all." He stares off absently for a moment before continuing, "However, if things are looking dicey at any point we should make for the gate. We have been through enough on this ship and we need a taste of civilization again." Locke notices that the odd ache of wanderlust has begun to set in on his limbs again.

I am thinking a sweep of unexplored rooms before leaving this place.

"I agree with Locke here too. While we are most likely the only survivors in this place, my conscience would never forgive me if I did not make sure. I know there was the bottom level where that huge centipede monster came from." His body shudders involuntarily as he remembers just how close to death he came there.

My suggestion is we rest now, and then sweep the remaining rooms and levels for any survivors...plus picking up additional loot or clues would also be good!

Retreating into the chambers that BR-N3R had identified as belonging to 'Lomrick', the friends finally manage to rest without the fear of impending doom... and, with a watch established for the next few hours, manage to get some much-needed sleep. The lights, a pleasant amber colour within the chamber, remain constant through the 'night' and the sporadic tremors that shook the facility are nothing more than a distant memory...

Recuperated, the friends complete their exploration of this top level of the Garsilt Research Facility... moving to the door directly north of the vertical shaft, the group discover a chamber that lies bare except for 12 cylinders integrated into the north and west walls, each attached to root-like cables extending from the stone ceiling.

Two wall lockers are built into the east wall - and, spending a little bit of time on it, Rikkan picks the lock on each. One locker contains two battleaxes, two sets of studded leather amor and five potions (3 x Cure Light Wounds, 1 x Remove Disease and 1 x Tongues). The other locker contains an Aegis of Recovery, a masterwork composite longbow [+2 Str] and a Spur Rifle.

West from the room which may have served as some form of garrison, the friends arrive at another door... BR-N3R, scanning a red light over the green disk adjacent to the door, opens the door... to reveal a stone chamber housing a slightly smaller internal room composed entirely of glass. Large panes form a rectangular enclosure over a shining, metallic pedestal centered in the floor. A single, transparent door swings outward from this internal chamber, already standing open whilst a small control panel occupies the wall just north of the room’s only exit.

...with the purpose of the room unclear, and no equipment worth scavenging, the friends head southwards to the door that they ignored when retrieving the equipment for repairing the power plant... pushing the inactive door open, they discover a long chamber containing only one feature, a stone throne on a raised pedestal.

Detect Magic:
The device radiates moderate evocation and illusion magic.

DC 24 Spellcraft:
The throne can cast an interplanetary sending and dream once per day - it will only operate if the user attempts to contact a person that they know on a planet that they have previously visited.

She closes her eyes and intonates: "The throne can cast an interplanetary sending and dream once per day - it will only operate if the user attempts to contact a person that they know on a planet that they have previously visited." Her eyes pop open and she exhales. "Wow. Interesting. Theoretically, we could get back home this way, couldn't we...? Or at least let someone know where we were. But, uh... should we?"

Drancis eyes the throne warily as the throne presents itself as a possible ticket...home. "I dunno...whoever we contact would need to be a powerful wizard in order to find and rescue us right? Still, we could send a message to warn Golarion about what these...these invaders plan on doing!" He finishes excitedly. "We just need to figure out who to contact..." he breaks off as he notices Andretta watching silently the discussion taking place.

Turning slowly to face the beautiful woman he softly continues, "You know, our own world is not the only one who has dwellers who were kidnapped. Maybe Andretta wants to send a message to her own world. Do you want to use the throne to contact someone you...know Andretta?"

Feeling the aura that pours from the throne, Astraea is quick to realise its purpose… Andretta, standing at the entrance to the room smiles at the Oracle as she tells the friends what she has determined and, for the first time since before the Gate failed to operate, there is hope in her voice. Replying to Drancis, she suggests that the friends should be the first to use the throne, ”The machine with the message… the one that you attempted to guide through the Gate? That seemed to suggest that is was your home that had attracted the interest of Lomrick… I think it should be you who sends the first message back to your world… and, if we are still here tomorrow, then I shall attempt to do the same”.

I haven’t forgotten that you folks also intend to head back down the shaft to retrieve the Bha-gra, we’ll cover that once you’re done here.

"Does anyone know someone who would take this event seriously and may have the ear of someone powerful enough to do something about it?" Locke inquires, "Surely Rexel would believe us, but could he get the word out?" He contemplates, "I know Bards who would help, but the bardly way of spreading information takes time."
