Sonya crosses her arms with a somber face as she pointedly asks Silena, "How long until your roles are reversed, and you choice to join your own ruinous god? You have the same choice he has. Many would gladly offer the power you seek, were you only to abandon the folly of madness."
Diplomacy check: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 20 = 24
Silena, your detect magic pings off of a wand of spiritual weapon (37 charges), a +1 breastplate - which he wasn't wearing seeing as he was in bed taking a nap! and a +1 greataxe.
Grundmoch's collection of 'treasures' consists primarily of dented brass and tin objects such as cups, plates, old incense holders, candelabras, and other such bric-a-brac, most of it badly tarnished, dented, and in poor condition. A careful search reveals a few more valuable pieces including a dented brass canteen inlaid with silver trimming worth 200 gp, a gold bracelet inlaid with turquoise stone worth 500 gp, and a decorative golden helmet inlaid with a few small pieces of quartz worth 900 gp.
Hijiro lofts a brow with admiration at Silena's words and her graceful execution of the misguided fellow. "Sweet," he whispers in admiration. He assists in the looting by helping separate the valuable from the chaff, though he takes nothing for himself, merely offering aid.
Silena accepts Hijiro's assistance with a nod and a brief smile of gratitude...
Then turns to regard Sonya and her expression softens. Stepping over she gently embraces the oracle of SARENRAE... taking extra special care not to poke her with the many spikes on her armor giving her a warm sisterly hug of gratitude.
"My heart is touched at your concern my desert-sister! Were it so easy to abandon one's vows ..Indeed I would seriously consider your advice. ZON-KUTHON, however cruel he is to my spirit and heart, has NEVER betrayed me or failed to live up to the bargain I agreed to for his protection. Literally.. HE has indeed saved my life.. from the evil machinations of my parents. HE has granted me power that I willingly accepted. HE protected me from the schemes of my father to have me sacrificed in ZON-KUTHON'S name to further his own pacts with other wicked forces. HE saved me with his power from the cruel spite of my mother to have my body sacrificed to her demon lord Mazmezz 'The Creeping Queen'... my soul cast into oblivion. The Midnight Lord has done all this for me.. and what is he asking in return? That I serve him forever, and inflict pain in his name... both upon myself and others. He cares not who I inflict pain on or why.. only that it be in HIS name. HE has never failed me. So.. how, as a woman of Honor and Integrity, the one you have come to call friend and near sister~ how could I abandon that vow and betray the loyalty the Midnight Lord has provided me with simply because I'm out of constant danger now? Does that invalidate that HE saved me and protected me when I needed HIM the most? How could I give ANYONE my word afterward and it mean anything if I would be so disloyal to one who had been so true to me for so long?"
She leans her cheek against the petite Desert Oracle's forehead in a tenderness...rarely seen in Silena, "..would I not any longer be the woman you have come to admire and seek to save? It is not want of power that holds me to the Midnight Lord's service anymore ...sweet Sonya... but Duty and Honor.. NOT to forswear myself! I am not the frightened little girl who called out for any divinity to save her from a terrible end she saw no way to avoid, I no longer crave power for its own sake... but that does not excuse me from perhaps the foolish and desparate pact I struck. I made a Promise... to the Midnight Lord, HE has not broken HIS Promise to me. So I must remain loyal.. even though.. doing so damns my soul to eternal torment. My Word, My Promise IS My Honor! How could I live without my Honor?"
Silena looks the pretty Oracle in the eyes and smiles sadly shaking her head her voice very tender, "...not all things can be fixed with goodness, sometimes.. some souls are simply lost to the light! Not everyone can be saved, but it is Honorable that you keep trying.. and I am VERY grateful, near-sister."
"But despair not for me.. for no mortal can know all fates... and it rests with the Lady of Graves to judge in the end!"
And she kisses Sonya tenderly on the forehead before releasing her.
Sonya blushes at the hug, still unaccustomed to displays of affection. "Until my dying breath, I will not stop. The scale in unbalanced, and there is no honor in upholding a contract so lopsided. If a man was lost in the desert and close to death, and a traveller happens by and offers the first water. At what point would you consider the first man ungrateful. If the man that offered water asked for the service of the first man for the rest of his journey. Would you consider him dishonorable if he refused. What if the second man asked for the first man's service for the rest of his days? What if the man asked for his children? His children's children? Should an entire line be cursed to slavery due to 'honor'? Certainly not. You can not deal honorably with those without honor."
Sonya's voice is suddenly silenced at Silena's unexpected kiss, as she quickly grows quiet, her eyes falling to Hijiro.
Ever practical... Silena gathers the group together.
"This breastplate is magical and I think after a little fitting adjustment.. It will suit you quite well sweet Sonya... and will offer slightly more protection than your Kikko armor. As you and I are the only two who use medium and or heavy armor.. it is best for us. Unless you would prefer to wait and I eventually enchant your Kikko armor instead? I can tell it is of sufficient quality to enchant, but it may be some time before my devotions to the Midnight Lord will be able to master such enchantments."
"The Great Axe is enchanted, I know you prefer ranged weapons Barezata, but having a backup melee enchant weapon is not something to be ignored. If however, you still would rather not I can expend its magic and a little few more valuables to craft a physical enhancing item in time of your choice?? Perhaps one of increased dexterity?
"Eventually, I intend to craft an item for each one of you to enhance a physical or mental attribute of Your choosing best suited to you... doing so for myself lastly as currently I hold a 'lion's share' of loot in items recovered and I wish to more evenly spread our magics and wealth than we currently have due to circumstances. But that is a discussion for another time.. let us return to the upstairs and inform the rest of the Trogs the...'change in management'!"
With that Silena leads the way back toward the stairs... sheathing the bloody uncleaned frosty TEMPEST back into is ornate scabbard at her slim waist...
The troglodytes are clustered outside, clearly curious as to the outcome particularly as you appear to be emerging unscathed.
Silena approaches them and announces, "Grundmoch is dead... I slew him AND the Gargler. You will need to choose a new chief... but you will STOP worshiping ROVAGUG, his reverence offends us! We will not harm any more of you as long as the devotions to ROVAGUG cease immediately. We intend to destroy the followers of the Carrion King in the House of the Beast along with their foul lord. If you assist us we wil protect you as well. If you don't assist us but stay out of our way... we will leave you in peace once the Carrion King is dealt with. Are there any questions?"
Silena hefts Grundmoch's Great Axe to punctuate the proof her pointed claim...
The troglodytes squeal in alarm and most prostrate themselves at your feet. A few flee.
Silena rolls her eyes in consternation... glancing Sonya's way seeking forbearance.
Sighing, "Oh come now, stop that! I'm no goddess that you should bow down to! Perhaps Grundmoch wanted such out of you but not I! I am just as mortal and fallible as any of You are... !"
She will reach out and ...gently help them to their feet, shaking her head, "There is no need for that..You are your own people.. not slaves or thralls to me! I want your assistance as equals... living sentient beings with choice... but I'm also willing to respect you as equals with the right to refuse to help! ROVAGUG is a mad god who wants to destroy you, me and the entire world.. those that follow him can only follow his desires.. which is a threat to Everyone... including themselves. THAT is the Only reason I do not tolerate his worshipers in my presence they would destroy all living beings.. even those who not their enemies ..cause ALL life is their enemy! Even mad as ZON-KUTHON may seem.. HE does not want all life destroyed including himself! It is only self-preservation that forces me to impose~ that one limit upon your choices!"
"Come now.. tell us~ is there a tunnel from this wing into the Central Palace Structure of the House of the Beast?"
The troglodytes look nervously at each other. Eventually one is pushed forwards.
"Um. No. No there iss only above-ground ways. Walk across courtyard. B.. but who do we worship now?" (the last being almost a wail).
Silena ponders the fact that there is not easy below ground entrance to the House of the Beast.
At the plaintive wail.. she looks up and smirks, "..I'm no proselytizer for the insights of pain~ ZON-KUTHON offers no such Wisdom... only the pact of power, or protection from destruction ..but always his price is pain! If you seek salvation and a devoted god who will not torment you.. speak with Sonya.. the light of SARENRAE.. offers hope and guidance to those who would seek it in repentance."
