Hijiro sticks with Samuel.. staying near the back, and keeping a watchful eye.

Barezata trails Silena down the secret passage, ready to loose an arrow if any threats emerge from the ancient walls.

Map Update

You make your way cautiously along the passage, which turns north and ends in a rectangular chamber. This plain stone-worked chamber once stored the church's valuable religious artifacts, it would seem. It's been ransacked somewhat, but some lesser treasure still litters the floor.

There isn't anyone here (apart from you lot, that is).

Female Human (Keleshite) Oracle 5 Init +2 hp 37 (+12)/37, AC 17, T 12, FF 15, F +3 (+5 vs hot weather) R +3, Will +4

Sonya absolutely would not disturb these if they belong to the dead or the church. She will not keep them or steal them, but would she know if it would be wrong to use them to defeat the demon in defense of the church and return them after?
If you need it knowledge (religion) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Also what was the caster level of the aid spell, it says we gain temporary hit points equal to 1d8 plus the caster level.

Silena will scan the room with an disappointed expression, "I take it then Sonya this is the Temple's reliquary? There are no foes here... perhaps the fiend never even found this chamber..."

"You might be right Silena, but it looks like someone was here. No one now though."
Barezata would reluctantly bow to Sonya's thoughts on the matter. Hopefully the church would smile on our use of the items since we are attempting to complete a quest that would reconsecrate and restore the crypt.

The CL for the aid spell is 10th, sorry.

Sonya, you reckon things are best left undisturbed here. Does anyone wish to look and see what is there, though?

What next?

Silena turns to head for the exit back the way they came, "...then we must seek the fiend down the shaft clearly... let's hope it cannot teleport about."

"The belongings of the dead, shall remain theirs in this life and the next. We have the blessing of the Everflame. There is nothing else we need."

Sonya turns, following after Silena, listening to her musing. "Agreed, my godess has not granted me any way of dealing with such powerful magics. Not that I could handle them, if she were to grant them to me."

Hijiro is tempted, but at the words of those who worship here, he leaves the treasure undisturbed.

"Down the shaft then. Let's go." Barezata trails Silena back to the well.

So, back to the well. Looking down, the 'floor' that was there has gone and the shaft goes down, down, down... into darkness. No sign of any water.

"I can get down easily enough. It might be a bit trickier for the rest of you unless one of you has some tricks I am unaware of." Samuel comments quietly as he picks up a pebble, casts light on it, and drops it down the shaft to get a gauge for it's depth.

Silena shrugs, pulls out of her backpack a length of hemp rope 50'ft and secures it around the base of the one of the stone pedestal's legs for the hanging gong. Then she tosses the end of the rope down the shaft.

She frowns peering down the shaft her own natural darkvision... negated by Sameul's light stone, but she hefts Fiendfell in hand stating, "..I'll go down to see if there is danger... the rope is so either I can get back up or you can follow safely."

Then she steps off the edge of the pit falling gently under effects of her ring of feather fall that begins glowing brightly on her hand...

She peers into the illuminated shaft as she slowly falls looking for threats...

Barezata ties another length of rope to the rope dropped by Silena and gets ready to descend once she has given the all clear.
Barezata has a climber's kit and will use it when it is time to descend.

Liberty's Edge

Your experimentation reveals that the shaft is 60 feet deep.

Who's going first?

Silena, then Barezata. I'd suggest Hijiro, Sonya, and S.W. after that (in order).

Sonya will cast a simple light spell on the rope before they lower it down. She stairs with longing as Silena floats down with such grace. She does not envy the task of climbing down the rope with her hands in the condition they're in.

OK, new map tomorrow (Saturday), hopefully!

Samuel waits quietly for the others to get down before silently activating his flight hex and comfortably floating down, deactivating it as he gently lands.

The well shaft emerges into a roughhewn chamber (D4). To the north, an old rusty portcullis blocks the route further.

New map, as promised :)

Female Human (Keleshite) Oracle 5 Init +2 hp 37 (+12)/37, AC 17, T 12, FF 15, F +3 (+5 vs hot weather) R +3, Will +4

Sonya frowns gingerly reaching for the rope. Gripping the rope in her hands she cringes in pain as she lifts herself over the gap. She begins to slowly lower herself down, nearly in tears by the time she reaches the bottom of the gap. She keeps her mind focused on the task at hand and quickly calms herself down one more.

Her voice nearly cracks as she speaks, "Let's go."

Barezata looks with some sympathy at Sonya, "Sorry it hurts." Then, once Silena is ready to move toward the portcullis, Barezata gets her bow and an arrow ready again and quietly stalks forward looking for traps or ambushers.

Silena watches Sonya ...seemingly impassive to her pain... but when she is standing with them she pauses to look her in the eyes and nod solemnly, "...through pain we endure, through endurance we gain strength."

Her tone becomes sternly serious, "You are stronger than you know... Desert Rose! I have faith in Your strength.. you should too."

Then she turns to head down the passage looking for any obvious way to retract the portcullis...

Barezata finds the mechanism for the portcullis, alas it is rusted solid where it hasn't fallen apart and is completely inoperable.

Barezata looks to see if she can slip through the bars.

Silena ponders the rusted lever for the portcullis...

"...Or, if one of our spellcasters has a prestidigitation cantrip to un-rust the lever... or maybe even a mending cantrip to repair the stuck mechanism... we can fix the problem without resorting to noisy force which might draw unwanted attention."

Female Human (Keleshite) Oracle 5 Init +2 hp 37 (+12)/37, AC 17, T 12, FF 15, F +3 (+5 vs hot weather) R +3, Will +4

Sonya nods, "I couldn't agree more. Hopefully it is not damaged beyond the limits of my spell." Sonya approaches the methinks and lays her hands upon the mechanism channelling her mending spell into it.

Liberty's Edge

Nice spell use! The AP recommends knock or brute force, but I'll let you have it with a spot of mending!

The rough-hewn passage leads on beyond with niches carved out of the walls on both sides. It stretches north for over 80 feet and in the gloom ahead you can just about make out a bend westwards.

Very nice thought Silena.

Sonya follows after Silena down the path quietly musing about what a strange passageway this is and curious as to its purpose.

Silena takes point again...peering into the darkness unfazed by its depths with her natural 'drow-blooded' darkvision. Hefting Fiendfell in hands she searches each niche they pass for threats before moving on...
