With light streaming from Tempest, the gang can all see the pair of pugwampi threatening their group. What's more, the pugwampi can see all of you.

  • With a shriek of fear, the lead pugwampi races out of the room, not willing to engage five well-armed foes. The half-orc growls, shifting his attack on the bow-wielding pugwampi from bolt of energy to blob of acid.

    Meta-game explanation for a moment: the pugwampi unluck aura is only 20 ft. Korum is more than 20 feet away.

    Razif chases the pugwampi out into the ruined nave. The bright moonlight coming through the large, roofless chamber illuminates the panicked pugwampi racing for the chapel.

    You can see the pugwampi in low-light here, Razif, but cannot make an attack this round. You can in the next round - it'll be affected by how much distance the pugwampi puts between it and you and the low light condition (20% miss chance), but it will NOT be affected by the unluck aura (so you'll only roll the d20 once). Drael may act!

    Razif dashes to the bottom of the ladder, slightly annoyed his expectations didn't come to fruition.

    Korum lumbers into the chapel. "Oh, this feels familiar..." the wizard intones sarcastically.

    Uzma climbs, already halfway up the ladder, while Razif stands at the base of the ladder, staring up at the cruel pugwampi waiting at the hole on top. Drael and Layaali peer into the balconies from the main chapel, looking for the enemy. Korum pants.

    The pugwampi slips as it tries to foolhardily rush across to a position of safety and falls!

    The pugwampi falls from the upper balcony of the chapel onto one of the stone pews below with a wet thud and an audible crack. It does not rise again.

    GM: I can't BELIEVE it went that way....

    Korum blinks at the dead pugwampi. "Yup, while I'm going to head back to bed..." and he turns and walks out of the chapel. The adrenaline coursing through the gang's veins slows as the stillness of nighttime in the desert monastery takes over once more.

    Layaali moves to the sound of cracking bones and exploding skulls and finds a dead pugwampi on the floor.

    "Good night, Korum. I'll tidy this up."

    She then bends down and picks up the dead pugwampi. She brings him outside and sets about burying him. And then she returns to the chapel, washes the bloody floor, and cleans her hands.

    Eventually she returns to bed, exhausted from the evening's events.

    The rules are pretty specific about getting 8 hrs of uninterrupted sleep in order to study/pray and get spells. How does the group want to handle this literally-middle-of-the-night interruption?

    As the pugwampi goes splat, Razif lets out a loud laugh and points at it. "I KNEW that was going to happen! Ha! Priceless."

    Once everything's calmed down a bit, and Layaali offers to tidy up, Razif hopes to take over for her. He respects her enthusiasm and willingness to do all the hard work, but can't help but worry she might overdo it if someone else doesn't keep an eye out.

    "Layaali, don't worry, I'll take care of this. You go get your rest this time. If only so you can be properly attuned for the hardships of tomorrow."

    Razif will stay up the night if necessary, making sure all our spellcasters can hopefully get the full rest they need to get all magic back.

    The casters would need to sleep 8 hours from this point to regain their spells. Given that we should be relatively safe where we are, they should sleep for 8 hours to make sure we're all fully prepared for the next day.

    Yeah, Layaali will sleep in so she gets the full eight hours uninterrupted. If that's impossible she'll handle the repercussions.

    "Are you sure, Razif? I don't mind the labour." She considers his words. "I suppose... You're a good man. Thank you."

    Layaali will help for a time, and then head to bed.

    @ GM: I have a feeling you're a light sleeper. For 90% of my family, they need a Fortitude save to wake up. Haha.

    Layaali sleeps late, then prays to Vildeis, contemplating her actions over the last few days.

    When she's refreshed and prepared she feels her hungry stomach. "Does everyone still have food?"

    If anyone is out of rations, Layaali will give them some of hers. She doesn't eat until everyone else has done so.

    She also finds a large basin or tub and then prays to Vildeis, causing it to fill with water. She prays again, and even the specks of dirt and dust floating in the water from the tub have disappeared. The water looks clean and fresh. Casting create water and purify food and drink.

    She refills her waterskin and drinks deeply.

    FYI: If that bird doesn't show up today, Layaali intends to wander the monastery cleaning the rooms one by one.

    Korum Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 FAIL!

    When Razif finishes his watch and goes to awake Layaali, he notices Korum tossing and turning, well awake. Korum winds up taking the last watch of the night instead of Layaali so as to allow the oracle a full night's sleep. Uzma also finds it difficult to return to a full night's sleep only managing another four hours before the heat and light of the day wakes him.

    Korum and Uzma get no spells for the day. Layaali gets regular spells.

    One person seemed to get an excellent night's sleep, however, and Razif awakes refreshed and newly invigorated! and 2nd level! Congrats, Razif!

    The gang breaks their fast and moves about on this, their seventh day in the abandoned monastery. Cleaning the undercrypt and restoring the desecrated chapel have taken a good deal of time and energy, and some of you begin wondering when you should send word back to Princess Almah and the caravan of your (relative) success.

    Layaali considers this. "Very well. Should all of us make the return trip to visit Princess Roveshki, of should some of us remain behind to protect the monastery from further pugwampi incursions?"

    After another moment of thought, Layaali adds, "I would feel better if we left this place defended..."

    Drael thinks about it, I would think that if any pugwampi returned, the death of their king would scare them away, but if not then I would rather not leave some of us here to fend them off alone. It might be best to stay together for safety's sake.
