"Anybody here a parseltongue?"

Durgen clears his throat, "We're here!" He keeps his eye on the snakey thingy

Monster Lore 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

"I know a language that might understand..." He growls holding his greatsword tight.

Agia chuckles and pats Hashar on the back (carefully). "They seem to be friendly with this thing. Let's try using our words first. If they fail, your sword will prevail."

You walk up to a cavern half filled with water, the kappas are talking to a large blue-green snake with the face of a woman

Durgen

"Is it me, or is that snake kind of beautiful?"

Toby adds, "Ok, it looks like Captain Durgen gets to the meet the beautiful snake-lady."

Agia whispers to Toby, "Let's hope the snake isn't any smarter than the pirates."

"Would you believe these simple creatures would worship something more simple than they?" says the snake as it slids closer to you all

"You have quick ears, lady," Agia backpedals, "No offense meant. We need to move along, but these... pirates.. are a bit silly. Maybe you can help us get to the Island of Derro Ninjas."

Xochti watches, listens and learns.

The snake moves up her face an inch away from Agia's "Don't you dare call my precious servants silly, as for the derro, search the tunnels you're bound to find them that way"

As the serpent closes on Agia, Xochti's hand clenches tighter upon the haft of her maul...

"Uh.. apologies, madam. They're cheery lads, they are. Loyal, too. You've a good crew." Agia backs away vee-eery slowly. "Thank you for your help. You're very kind."

Aden stands protectively in front of the boy.

"NOT so fast, now you've come here you can't leave without some payment, now I heard one of you was to become a pirate captain and you all were going to swear loyalty to him... who was that?"

Agia glances at the rest of the party rather desperately. "Er... will gold do? I have a bit of gold. Of course you deserve.. tribute... Your Majesty?"

"Well ain't that nice? And what good is gold to me? Do I look like a dragon to you? Do you see me as someone who would hoard gold?"

"Er... no. Of course not. You would be much more interested in... in..." Agia trails off lamely, praying for somebody to fill in the blank and wondering if the lovely face so close to hers concealed venomous fangs.

"Well why don't you take a look around and see what I keep" she gives a nudge to Agia to get closer to the water's edge

Never trusting a snake, Hashar stands ready to charge the creature if it tries to attack his new found friend and as usual lets out a low growl.

Xoxhti looks to her Uncle, tying to gauge his reactions and responses...

"Not impressed are you orc? Ready to smash all in your way? But let me tell you, without my help you will never leave these catacombs"

At the serpent's words...Xochti just narrows her eyes...(¬_¬)

"Don't believe me young dwarf? Go ahead, try to leave" she say to Xochti

"Um... Durgen? A little help?" Sweat beads Agia's brow even here in the cool, clammy underground as the snake thing nudges her.

"No, no girl, show some initiative, look into the water, look at the depths and see what you seek"

Agia glances sidelong at her companions. "Er... should I?"

"Maybe we will just take our chances whether we can get out on our own or not. But for now, back away from her or else. I will take the look into the water"

Assuming the snakey things backs away Durgen will trade places with Agia and then take a look into the water

Xochti grips her maul a little tighter and moves to stay at her Uncle's side. Her eyes never leaving the snake thing.

"Or Else? You humanoids always so quick to anger into violence" she slides to the two dwarfs and slowly makes them walk closer to the edge of the water

Xochti lowers her stance and 'sets' herself against being pushed.

I do believe Dwarves get a bonus to CM-whatever to resist such things? +4?

She isn't so much pushing as making you feel uncomfortable enough to move back by getting to close

So...Xocthi will grit her teeth, suck it up...and not budge. :P

Durgen isn't budging until Agia and Xochti are with the others in safety

"Tsh dwarfs" she slides away into the water "Captain, take these mortals to the other tunnels and do not allow them to return"

At the snake-lady's words, Agia quickly follows and looks into the water.

Agia

"Livestock?" Agia wonders aloud, continuing to scan the water "That's all?"

"One sent every month for the next 5 years"

"Any favorites?"

"Lamb" all the kappa shout in unison

"I suppose that could be arranged, especially since you are heroes for rescuing little Timmy. I'm sure the townspeople will be grateful to have him and the rest back. I'll arrange it even if the townspeople don't. My word as a pirate. Yarrrrrrrr!"

"You're word, as a pirate?" says the naga, "Very well, then you can have their help" she points at the kappa, "You'll need them, the derrow have many allies down here"

Xochti just saunters away from the water's edge. A slight grin upon her features at having been able to 'stand her ground'.

"Then soup is on hold for now, let us go hunt some of these derros." He says keeping his eyes on the snake.

the kappa captain goes up to you "Yaaar! So who ya whaana see first? The wierd kids or the dried up adults?"

"Ohhhh sh... dried up adults? Do they still, uh, move around?"

Aden doesn't realize he may be stating the obvious, merely wanting to male sure all arebready for the posibility.

"Na they don't move, much... usually...Yar there was that one time but as a rule they don't move..."

a kappa tugs at Aden's sleeve "What's aaa undead?"
