Maladrin the Rusty Dragon is closed until Ameiko comes back
Nisk looks at the tip and was about to lick it before you say someone was stabbed by it [b]"Ah, Poison!... i'll try to figure this out!" he takes the arrow tip and starts placing some portions of the poison in different test tubes
"Sunset" |
Sunset steps back and lets the man get to work.
"Sunset" |
Handing the coin over quickly, Sunset looks at the large, solidly build fellow who's come in with her,
"You're right to get this to the lass?" She asks, "I've an idea I'd like to follow up." She explains a little cryptically.
Kjell Larson |
Kjell takes the bottle and nods, "I'll get this to her right away. I'll see you around later?"
Kjell hurries from the shop and makes his way back to the beach. Seeing the group around the mermaid, he rushes forward.
"Here! The alchemist said this should work,"
He hands the bottle to Durgen.
Durgen Grimhelm |
Kjell takes the bottle and nods, "I'll get this to her right away. I'll see you around later?"

"Here! The alchemist said this should work,"
He hands the bottle to Durgen.
Durgen takes the bottle with a nod of thanks.
"Here drink this" he says to the mermaid, hoping this draught will do the trick.
"Sunset" |
Sunset jogs off to find the town's church or temple and seeks the chief Cleric within...

After drinking the potion the mermaid falls unconsious and starts foaming at the mouth
Sandpoint has a cathedral actually, it isn't hard to find, the high priest is talking to some of the locals, there is a nun waiting near by not doing anything though

Durgen will try a heal check again to see if this is a positive thing or not. He'll throw in a cure light wounds after he checks for good measure
Heal Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
cure light wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
"Sunset" |
Sunset strides up to the Cleric and his off-sider,
"Sir, Ma'am." She bids them both a good day with a tip and brief touch of her hat brim.
"There's a problem down at the shore I would be much obliged should you come and attend. There's a person there who needs your assistance, themselves having been wrong fully treated, badly attacked and heinously poisoned." She stands easy and awaits the pairs response, though she spares Luminiere Solas another brief smile.
"Sunset" |
She nods politely in response to the fellow and dutifully turns and leads the Cleric down to the beach and to where the mer-folk lies. She does give a friendly/conspiratorial wink to Luminiere Solas in passing.
perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Seeing that the Alchemists concoction has not had the beneficial and health result she'd been expecting, Sunset's demeanor becomes darker as she explains some things to the good Cleric.
"This is the folk in dire need of your assistance." She says to the priest, indicating the poor mer-folk and her sorry state.
"Sunset" |
Sunset stands by, her boots lightly scuffed over with sand and awaits the developments of the Cleric and the group's possible charge.
"Sunset" |
Sunset raises an eyebrow and coughs quietly, trying to be polite as she thinks of a way to phrase the idea in her head,
"Um...you've a pond, then?" She asks, still trying to figure out how the Mer-folk's comfort is to be arraigned. Though she does look to the Cleric with a slight smile and a nod.
"My name's 'Sunset', by the way." She offers as way of introduction to those gathered around the now, hopefully better, lass washed from the sea.
Durgen Grimhelm |
"She's in a terrible condition, far worse that what my spells can cure out right, but at least her condition won't get worse, I'll take her to the Cathedral, we'll make sure she is well looked after"
Durgen picks up the mermaid and says, "Lead on to the cathedral. We've done all we can do, its in the hands of the gods now."
"Sunset" |
Sunset frowns a little as she helps move the Mer-folk to where ever the Priest indicates.
"Um...I think it's a matter of both quantity and quality." She replies to the young lass.
"Sunset" |
Sunset frowns a little at the state of care the Mer-folk is given but - since she can do no better- She simply nods, smiles, shrugs and wanders off out into town to see how everything else has fared.
Maldrin |
Deciding that there is nothing more he can do about the mermaid situation, Maldrin accepts the request of one of the bar owners to rustle up some supper for the patrons, and spends the rest of the day out hunting with Molette, returning just before supper with a decent supply of meat.
Durgen Grimhelm |
Durgen turns to the others that talked to the shooter, "Tell me everything he said to you."
After hearing what was said Durgen tells them, "After we check up on the mermaid's condition tomorrow, I plan on finding this Njord and having a talk with him. Anyone care to join me?"
"Sunset" |
Assuming Sunset is with 'most' of everyone who's interested.
In reply to the Dwarf, Sunset nods,
"Aye, there's a question or two I have for a fellow who has free coin enough to spend on some one who's aim is negotiable." Sunset replies.
"Sunset" |
Sunset just shrugs,
"The fellow told us a name that might be his as well as a name that sounds like it belongs to the one who sent him on his way..." She eyes the large man who was helping out with the Mer-folk earlier,
"Other than maybe 'Job Satisfaction'...what perhaps do you think you might get out of the archer fellow?" She asks, while they continue to wander about Sandpoint seeking out others who might feel the way they do about the current Mer-folk situation. She tips her hat to those she might meet and introduces herself by her name of 'Sunset'.
Maldrin |
"I suspect he's already answered all of them that he can. He's seems more like a hired gun than anything else. The mermaid and his boss are the ones that we need be asking questions to, and the mermaid may not be up to answering questions for a while." Maldrin points out to Kjell.

Alright, moving on...
In the morning you find the mermaid and the nun were assassinated during the night, their necks slashed and torn by a crude weapon of some sort. The assassin in the jail seems to also have been killed, burned to a pile of ash, only his boots seem to remain
"Sunset" |
....."Some one...some where...has earned for themselves a very bad time..."...
*Begins to check through her gear and make sure everything is ready to rumble.*
Durgen Grimhelm |
Maldrin packs his stuff for the hunt, half relieved to finally have something to do, though a bit shaken by the brutality of it all.
Durgen will try and identify what kind of weapon killed the mermaid and the nun
Heal check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
And then he'll try and figure out what killed the assassin (assuming its magical?)
Spellcraft 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Phagin Harwood |
Phagin enters the jailhouse, and begins questioning the jailer "Was there anyone on duty last night that might have seen what happened? And where are the prisoner's things? There might be some clues in his stuff to who he really was." He turns to Durgen, "Master Dwarf, do you have any notion of what might have caused this?"
ulgulanoth |
the jailer "I'm terribly sorry, I can't answer your questions to what happened last night, I... I just can't remember what happened... his stuff was here" he points at an empty box "I remember him saying that they were going to get him... and then i don't recall what happened afterwards"
"Sunset" |
Sunset nods in agreement with Maldrin's words though she points out.
"We have a name and they, it, he, she doesn't have ours. Other wise we'd be a pair of smoking boots like yon Marlyin there in his cell..." She finishes adjusting her belts, buckles and gear.
"So, we've a name and a city to go searching in. Who's coming and how are we to get there? Should we ride? Sail?..."
"Sunset" |
Heck, we can even do both.Track the late Mr Negotiable back as far as we can and if we lose the trail we can then head to Magnamar...Sound like a good idea?
